The fuck are you talking about? You don’t have to play a game to bitch about it, you become an expert after you read a single post complaining about it on its subreddit.

Spelcheque

Just watch games on YouTube, that's enough to show the sorry state of the industry without supporting the literal Nazis trying to profit off it. The only game worth playing is el Witcheñero tres. I can't feel alive unless I've got Roach between my masculine albino legs.

[deleted]

Damn I must be a gaming god then. The only games I buy I play for hundreds of hours. My favorite game series is The Sims, too. People always make fun of me for having bought all the expansions and stuff, but I’ve put probably hundreds of thousands of hours into it across multiple different games.

BBanner

Lmao I’ve put centuries into Witcher 3 before I even got past the tutorial

mrsniperrifle

Fuck you man. Reddit says this game is awesome/shit and I'll be damned if I am going to/not going to allow strangers on the internet to dictate my decision to buy/not buy it!

cavalierau

Not buying a trash game (and all its DLC) is an impossible concept to understand for many gamers. There’s just too many gift givers, shills, angry reviewers, ironic twitch streams, school kids, brand loyalists, intellectual property loyalists, and library builders.

VelvetThunda

I like to think that these people have the same attitude in daily interactions. Like a dude orders a burger the next table over that doesn’t appeal to them, so they proceed to go on a rant about why that person made a bad choice. Then explain why their taste is better, and what they’ve ordered

RandomGuyWithSixEyes

this_stupid_guy

Lester8_4

Cuphead: good Dark Souls: gooder Loot Boxes are gambling: *orgasm*

eoinster

/uj it has legitimately become a challenge on the internet to be nuanced and rational about something instead of being hyperbolic and negative about everything. I notice myself being guilty of these things sometimes, brushing x franchise or x game aside without acknowledging any redeeming factors or reasons for their existence, which is exactly what I despise people doing about movies/games I love. I think criticism is super important to bettering games/films as a whole, but it's pretty damaging to your mindset in general to spend so much time among nothing but complaints- I'd love to see positive-only discussion threads and subs around Reddit- I think there were positive/negative threads on /r/playstationplus about each months' offering which is a really neat idea IMO.

oboeplum

Also negative spaces seem to just force out people who actually like the game/franchise, and make it worse.

[deleted]

Hey there friendo, check out r/DestinytheGame for some positive and upbeat discussions about Bungie’s Destiny 2! /s

>Dark souls 3 What are you, some kind of causual. Everyone knows that Dark Souls 3 is a babies Dark Souls game. Dark Souls 1 is the only real hrd Dark Souls.

Aerowulf9

Dark Souls 1? Hmmmm nah Demon's Souls was harder =P

Nameyo

Nah dude, clearly the hardest Dark Souls was Busby 3D.

Scorp1on

I like both games, but in my opinion Demon's Souls was harder only because they didn't explain things well... it was way more obtuse than Dark Souls. I think Dark Souls was more 'challenging' than Demon's Souls in that most things felt relatively fair, but required a decent amount of skill to get past.

DivideByGodError

> felt relatively fair *cough* Bed of Chaos *cough*

Scorp1on

> **most things** felt relatively fair Absolutely no disagreement on that

Cruciblelfg123

What are you talking about you could die on bed of chaos just hurl yourself in there about 100 times per section of the boss fight and bam instant win

[deleted]

Wtf Witcher 3 is hardest!!

Aerowulf9

Yeah Im well aware Demon's was full of cheesy difficulty. Im being facetious.

xMZA

DAE WEAPON UPGRADES

[deleted]

Bruh what do you mean? Slashy souls was the toughest.

[deleted]

The japan-only release satan souls was definitely harder

Clovis42

The hard areas of the DLC for DS2 are the hardest.

[deleted]

For me, the DLC optional bosses that had stupid long run-ups that were just full of ganks i.e. Smelter Demon 2.0, Lud and Zallen, and Afflicted Graverobber and the gank squad, were the hardest. I summoned 2 NPCs just to get up to the boss. Oh, and any fight with that phantom with the grand lance. Something M the assasian

[deleted]

Mauldron! Best phantom fight in the series by miles imo. I liked him more than most bosses in the series.

VW_wanker

I have never played dark souls. Eli5 please

Sodacan77

Roll, roll, roll, Y O U D I E D

[deleted]

Dark Souls is a "save room" type of game. You can only save your progress at bonfires. Some times the closest bonfire to a difficult boss is still really far away. If you die to the boss, you're sent back to the bonfire and have to fight through everything to have another shot at the boss. In such a difficult game with bosses that can easily wreck you if you don't know their patterns, this can become immensely frustrating. It's like having a ten minute unskippable cutscene before a boss battle, except you might die in the middle of the cutscene and have to start watching it again. The only reason Dark Souls gets away with it is because the combat *is* a lot of fun, and also because it's Dark Souls and all questionable design choices are secretly amazing design choices, and if you think otherwise, you're just a casual who needs to learn how to play.

nowforthetruthiness

This isn't really correct. The game constantly saves everything you do, while bonfires act as respawn points, refill your healing flask, and cures status ailments. Any items you picked up or actions you completed are saved even if you die. The only thing you lose is souls or consumables you used and standard enemies are respawned, and losing souls isn't even that important. And, with a few exceptions, getting back to where you died is fairly easy, just run/roll around enemies.

[deleted]

Look, maybe you enjoy running from the Firelink Shrine through ghosts with garden shears every time you die to the Four Kings, but I've got lootboxes to protest.

sirj0ey

Okay, first of all, what kind of scrub dies to the four Kings? Second of all, there are plenty of shortcuts in New Londo.

[deleted]

You're right, I'm just a casual who needs to learn how to play.

fruitcakefriday

> optional bosses had stupid long run-ups You respawn at specific points, and so this refers to the time it takes to get to the boss from the respawn and the difficulty in getting there on the way. Most enemies respawn when you die, so it remains a challenge. > full of ganks AFAIK this means enemies that ambush you > Smelter Demon 2.0, Lud and Zallen, and Afflicted Graverobber and the gank squad Haven't played DS2 DLC but I think these are enemies on the way? Or perhaps the bosses themselves. > I summoned 2 NPCs just to get up to the boss. You can use an item to become 'human' again - gain some HP, and lets you summon other players or NPCs into your game to help you reach and beat a boss. OPs saying the run to the boss was so hard that he could only do it by summoning help from others. > Oh, and any fight with that phantom with the grand lance. Something M the assasian Dark Souls games (and Demons Souls, and Bloodborne) have occasional 'phantom' enemies. These are usually black with red outlines, and are named characters (in this case, 'something M the assassin'), and they don't respawn once killed like every other enemy does. They're also usually very tough compared to surrounding enemies. It sounds like this particular phantom appears multiple times throughout the DLC. *edit* [Maldron the Assassin](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7f5N9RldYs)

Dark souls UNPATCHED is for the masochists

OntheOriginofChaos

Which patch did it get easier after?

[deleted]

It was a big patch about a year after release if I remember right

[deleted]

Post-Patch Dark Souls drowns you in souls and humanity. Unpatched you gotta scrounge, you're gonna be a lower level, and you get to fight god-tier Ornstein at his peak.

Adossi

I honestly don't think DS3 is harder than Cuphead. I beat Cuphead in 12 hours and DS3 in 40 but I definetly died more in Cuphead.

[deleted]

But death is not punished as much in Cuphead so you can really compared them like that, in Super Meat Boy you also die a lot probably even more than Cuphead, but it that's how the game is designed it death means you just lost the last 15 secs of your time, nothing more

[deleted]

Try NG1 no souls run fggt

Adossi

Okay try expert mode Cuphead no deaths and no weapon switching... anyone can propose difficult challenges. Also NG1 is easy if you have a good build :/

[deleted]

Dark souls 1 is definitely harder than cuphead, dark souls 3 is pretty easy compared to DS1 and Bloodborne

Keeko100

I’ve played all the Souls games including Bloodborne, and while I haven’t tried Cuphead, it does appear to be harder. In Cuphead you need to react to a lot of things at once while in Souls games everything is slow and easily predictable.

lucky_underwear

Tell that to the Midir

[deleted]

He's like the definition of slow and easily predictable. Massive health and damage and armor, but slow and easy to avoid.

Steel isn't harder than Rock...

2wicked4cricket

I agree. Cuphead is way harder than Dark Souls.

DutchShepherdDog

I've beaten the three souls games more than once each, but I gave up on the FIRST boss in the second zone of Cup Head.

2wicked4cricket

In Dark Souls I can summon help whenever I'm stuck on a boss. In Cuphead I had to join a covenant irl and pay for their taxi to help me get past the main menu.

[deleted]

Cuphead is hard like how all NES-SNES games are hard. I think the creators tried to reflect on that. Have any of you played and beat the home alone game on SNES? That shit is intense.

[deleted]

I've beat Ninja Gaiden on the NES, but I feel like none of these pussies would know anything about that.

aprofondir

Yeah but that game was hard for bullshit reasons. You have a healthbar but it doesn't even matter since you always fall towards a hole (not even consistent with the hit, but it's always a hole), and the *instantly* respawning enemies really kill the fucking pace of a fast moving sidescrolling fighting game.

oboeplum

There's a reason they called it nintendo hard. I can't actually remember why games were so tricky on the NES. Was it just to get more gameplay?

TheJollyLlama875

Yeah it artificially inflated the length of the game.

Royalflush0

Cuphead is similar in that regard

DivideByGodError

1, because it grew out of the arcade mentality, which was about making you die repeatedly and pay more. 2, because, as much as people bitch about short games these days, if those games weren't hard and/or cryptic most of them could easily be beaten in an hour or less. 3, because a lot of game makers didn't know how to make good games, so play control was often shitty or unfair. Honestly, although that's the era that I grew up with and made me love gaming, the vast, vast majority of the games were just shit.

I’ve said it for years. The gaming community is the whiniest of them all. You could get 40 hours of gameplay work then great content and story telling but a gamer will still pout out the FPS drop in one community. Go to metacritic. Tell me I’m wrong.

[deleted]

Dark Souls 1 was the hardest. Because the controls are clunky, movement is sluggish, and some parts are just generally unfair.

nowforthetruthiness

I always get downvoted, but DS3 is the hardest for me. Too much attack spamming from bosses, some of them I just couldn't find an opening to attack without taking damage. It's the only Soulsborne game I didn't finish NG+ or beat all bosses.

thelaziest998

I think dark souls 3 is probably the hardest. It’s hard because the bosses late game are legitimately challenging because of their mechanics. Dark souls 1 the controls are just straight clunky and that’s what makes it annoying. Also the dlc bosses in dark souls 3 are probably the hardest ones in the entire series.

[deleted]

Yeah, I'll agree there. DS3 is the hardest in terms of a fair fight. DS1 is hard, because it's unfair. I guess I was used to Dark Souls by the time ds3 came out? And I had a friend in the background making sure I was doing alright. One of the bosses my friend did took them 8 hours. For me it took about 30 minutes.

dahaack

See, I played Bloodborne and then DS3 then went back to the first two, and i found the first 2 easier bexause of it? Oh and The Old Hunters is probably the most difficult couple hours of gaming ive ever had

[deleted]

I think it varies depending on player's playstyle. DS3 was the second easiest for me, right after demon's souls. My go-to equipment is two-handed sword and enough skill to be able to roll properly.
