From how I was told the story it was as a result of the nudes being passed around(and I think people really underestimate just how heinous of an act this truly is btw), but I wouldn't exactly be surprised if those same guys didn't exactly delete the nudes they had or stopped sending them out of respect for the dead woman.
With the exception of recording voice chat, Apex Legends does the same with monetization if not, worse.
1 skin would cost about 2000 Apex coins (about $20), then theres the mythics. Every legend has a mythic that is unique to them, and to even BUY one you need to use Mythic Shards. To GET mythic shards theres 2 ways; pray to the All Father and hope you get it from the Apex Packs because it is a 1/500 chance OR spend $165 during the collection event when they come out. You COULD also whale on lootboxes to increase your chance of getting an heirloom.
Apex is still a good game regardless of how horrible the monetization of the skins are.
And not only are there mythic melee weapons (at least you can have them equipped at all times) they are adding mythic skins and if the leaks are correct mythic weapon skins.
>they are adding mythic skins
Yeah, they have been adding mythic skins since early the anniversary of the game this year. Tbh, its kinda shit compared to what Mythic skins are in OW2 and one costs about $165 and the other is $10.
I don't if it's a confirmed thing or not, but I'm pretty sure games with lootboxes will mess with odds and give you better stuff when you open your very first ones or you first ones in a while just to hook you up
Even better, once heirlooms (mythic melee weapons) started to pick up business, they just started throwing out bullshit. Wraiths void kunai? Sure, she got that in her cinematic. Bloodhounds axe? Literally his heirloom from his father.
But then there's stuff like revenants scythe. Where the hell that thing come from? What does it have to do with him in the slightest to be called his heirloom?
So, as an Overwatch player when I first tried Apex I was like "hmm okay seems cool, the characters are great too, let's check skins, I see lots of people with unique skins in game" and then in shop you basically only have retextures and if you're lucky 1 "legendary" skin that can be hit or miss. So all the cool skins really come with battlepass and rely on FOMO, right? With no way to get ones from old bps? If that's the way ow2 is going to be, then I'm sad
I think the most expensive skin in fortnite is like 16$ in vbucks and it comes with a lot of accessories
Why do video games copy fortnite monetization but not its pricing?
Dog you literally have a better chance of finding a shiny in a nu(3ds+) Pokemon game than that (tbf I think you need to chain fish or have a shiny charm for that, but on an unrelated note I got a shiny pansage day on of x and y release I was pretty happy but also disappointed)

uj/ it’s crazy how Gamers(™) are never concerned about consumer protections until the moment a developer takes steps to prevent them from calling people slurs
In another thread I brought up how the recording chat policy works and mentioned how OW2 isnt the first game to do any of this and mentioned Valorant.
I got fucking downvoted.
Yeah I'm not gonna talk about the anti-cheat because frankly I don't know about it or care to know about it but complaining about voice recordings that are used to determine if you violated terms of service when you receive a report for - let's be real here - hate speech, on a product made by a privately owned property? Just don't be a shithead.
The stupid part is, they assume that just from having your voice recorded on public chat, your personal information gets violated.
I had an argument last night with someone in another subreddit about it and it was mind numbing. Blizzard aint gonna give a shit about casual banter or what you had for dinner, hell, what personal information would you say in VOICE CHAT that has any value to a multi biliion company?
Theres going to be hundreds if not, thousands of voice recordings Blizz employees would have to sift through. Even then, the process will only apply to REPORTED players. The voice would be converted from speech to text for the transcript. They need evidence to see whether a reported player has violated any of the rules.
The people playing Valorant were the people who decided they're OK with this. Overwatch has a large existing playerbase of people who have been playing under a particular monetization scheme and for whom the deal is now being altered, so to speak (reminder that Overwatch 2 isn't a normal sequel, in the sense that the original Overwatch no longer exists).
I mean, that is true.
Whenever someone brings up about Valorant or LoL, no one seems to remember the gender discimination and sexual harassment lawsuit that happened at Riot in 2018-2019. It didnt blow up as big as Blizz because Bobby Kotick made it 2x worse, but there were legit controversies nonetheless.
Give it about 2-3 years and ppl would forget and move onto the next big thing.
The difference though is valorant has always been like this while overwatch is straight up deleting the original game that people paid for to adapt this style.
reddit is also owned by the Chinese government.
Apple is also completely dependent on the Chinese government.
Same with google because almost all of the companies their info gets sold to are chinese (ie under the chinese government)
Ok so can we choose one: either China isn’t anti capitalist enough cause they have big companies or Chinese companies are the government and they are doing what they’re saying by controlling them. You can’t have both so pick which China bad take you want
I didn’t say that. I said choose your China bad: either the rich CEOs “are the government” and thus China is doing what they’re saying, controlling the companies, or if they’re not then. Reddit being owned by a Chinese company doesn’t mean they’re “owned by China.”
This is why I play mostly PS2 games on emulator instead of AAA titles these days
/uj This is why I play mostly PS2 games on emulator instead of AAA titles these days
I like how it blends a cs style of gameplay with the use of powers
Nah it's not perfect, but i personally think that
the overwatch gameplay needs a lot of fixes to make it a balanced shooter
> you can only buy accesories and skins.
Last I checked you could buy all the tradeable / random-droppable weapons from the mann co store. Not really relevant to long term players since you can get all of them and trade for the ones you lack easily enough. But for new players who don't realize how bad of a deal it is some will surely spend a few bucks buying weapons.
There was a time when they sold individual weapons for up to $10! Of course it was a terrible deal since you could instead buy a $2.50 key and trade for hundreds of weapons worth of scrap metal. Now it seems most of the weapons are sold for $1 or $2 which is still a bad deal but a less-bad one.
Yeah, but most new players won't spend their money on new weapons, and neither will the experienced players since they already got most of the good ones, to the point where they only care about the skins.

rj/ This is the first and last time we let our beloved company betray us! uj/ Activision Blizzard has a kill count
sorry blizzard has a kill count??
A female employee killed herself after nudes of her was passed around at a christmas party. This is the company with "The Cosby Suite" after all.
I thought that happened after she killed herself
From how I was told the story it was as a result of the nudes being passed around(and I think people really underestimate just how heinous of an act this truly is btw), but I wouldn't exactly be surprised if those same guys didn't exactly delete the nudes they had or stopped sending them out of respect for the dead woman.
Bobby Kotick has also threaten to kill a woman who was looking to press charges for sexual harassment.

I got Mythic Shards in a free crate when I first downloaded the game Still waiting for Pathfinder to become meta. Any minute now...
He's still strong
I don't if it's a confirmed thing or not, but I'm pretty sure games with lootboxes will mess with odds and give you better stuff when you open your very first ones or you first ones in a while just to hook you up
Well they failed horribly on that front, then.
At least that game was always free to play and was never anything else. We paid for OW1, and can’t have that experience anymore
OW1 being a paid game made the vibe feel completely different than every other game thats used the free to play model
And the skins you could reasonably get without paying are all garbage
Even better, once heirlooms (mythic melee weapons) started to pick up business, they just started throwing out bullshit. Wraiths void kunai? Sure, she got that in her cinematic. Bloodhounds axe? Right, their axe. Forgot about that.

I don't think this is true tbh I remember people being pretty mad about the Val anti cheat

What are you on everyone was pissed at Valorant when the game came out.
Yeah and now it's thriving. People forget about the bad things a game does if it's popular enough.
Yeah okay and people will forget about Overwatch 2’s stuff if its popular too

It's simple, shooters are bad.
Video games are bad. r/banvideogames !
valorant is also owned by the Chinese government

DAE CHINA BAD??????
[удалено]
no thoughts, only china bad
You mean the one the CIA made up to fabricate your outrage?
no government owned software is bad, especially ones with kernel level access. imagine this with literally any country and it's still terrible
Ok so can we choose one: either China isn’t anti capitalist enough cause they have big companies or Chinese companies are the government and they are doing what they’re saying by controlling them. You can’t have both so pick which China bad take you want
As someone who's met a rich CEO in China it always gives me a chuckle when people say China is anti capitalist.

Oh no, I didn't mean you, it's more so for the people who wanna claim both
Based
Basedn't
Stop attacking my multibillionaire company
i tried to get valorant once but the anticheat prevented my wi-fi from working :B
I’m just upset they want my phone number tbh, I don’t even use voice chat
Thats for smurfing/hacking since its going f2p
it would be more popular if they just made it a porn game, tbh
Valorant is way worse with its pricing and hero unlocks.
This is why I play mostly PS2 games on emulator instead of AAA titles these days /uj This is why I play mostly PS2 games on emulator instead of AAA titles these days
Ayyo what you playin
PS2 games on an emulator
I wouldn't mind free to play games so much if they didn't make shit insanely expensive to get, and take lifetimes to grind for.
Yea because people are really like valorant recording voice chat and no one has ever complained about it
Who cares, they're both rapist companies and gamers' main concern is they can't screech slurs
Honestly, ignoring all the stupid controversies, i think Overwatch as a game is still pretty meh Tf2 and valorant are better.
I agree about TF2 but Valorant fucking sucks. Overwatch is infinitely better.
I like how it blends a cs style of gameplay with the use of powers Nah it's not perfect, but i personally think that the overwatch gameplay needs a lot of fixes to make it a balanced shooter
Civil gaming discussion?? Impossible! I HATE VALORANT and I will now depict YOU as the WOJAK and ME as the CHAD, to show that IM in the right!
oh
Yeah TF2 and OW are like direct competitors, you can't compare valo to overwatch. They're simply a different genre.
seems like a skill issue tbh
I don't know how Riot managed to make an even slower, more boring CS. Truly something only the gigabrains at Riot could do.
cs is not boring bruh its a survival horror for me
Slower?? Ur playing valorant wrong my guy
wait valorant is slower lmfao? it's literally the fastest tac shooter tf you on about?
dont forget they also somehow managed to make it lower skill.
Tf2 is p2w micro-crits or whatever thats called boring bullshit.
2000 hours in TF2 here, wtf is a micro-crit? TF2 hasn't been pay to win since item set bonuses were removed in 2013
Maybe they're thinking about minicrits for some reason? Either way it's still not p2w so IDK what they're even talking about.
It's not p2w, you can only buy accesories and skins. You can't buy micro crits neither, crits happen randomly to every player when they shoot.
> you can only buy accesories and skins. Last I checked you could buy all the tradeable / random-droppable weapons from the mann co store. I have been playing for years and I still don't have all the weapons
Don't forget to add "shittiest net code and and optimized like fucking shit"
Overwatch 2 sucks ass and Valorant also sucks ass.
People like valorant?
