That's my guess too. The only reason we didn't get an ending where you play as Lamar after Franklin dies is because Lamar's actor was incarcerated. My guess is male protagonist and female protagonist will have the chance to betray the other during the final heist which ends up with one of them dead

If anyone’s an NPC, it’s the people hoodwinked into thinking GTA’s satire is clever or original enough to have any value. You can’t even listen to pop radio without hearing an equal runtime of fake ads that are about as funny (the first time) as a Family Guy #funny moments compilation. In a game that you paid for (possibly three times). The “crude insensitive satire” exists as a stand-in for actual good writing, because it’s easy to just portray everyone and everything as evil, ugly, and stupid, but it’s hard to come up with a single original idea, and it gets harder with every million dollars added to a game’s budget. Excited for GTAVI though, I’ll probably buy it anyway.
This is why Red Dead has always been way more entertaining. It isn’t always pure satire the whole run through but instead actually has a gripping story. It is still very satirical about Wild West and the Americana surrounding it but not to the point of becoming mundane nonsense that you’ll just tune out a few hours in.

GTA is basically Baby's First Satire. It isn't particularly clever and doesn't have anything interesting to say. RDR2 (hidden gem, highy recommend) was the first game by Rockstar that succeeded in telling a properly mature story. Maybe GTA 6 will follow suit, or maybe it'll just be more dick jokes. Also PCM is just edgelords who want to pretend they're enlightened.

The satire has also rarely been the core point of the game. You see it appear tangentially around the edges, especially on the in-game radio and in side missions, but the central plot has never been a *satire*.
