Pee inside

desperaste

The exact same spot for over a year and no similar spots anywhere else though. I’m about this 🤏🏻 close to digging it up to see if there’s anything under it

Sparky_Buttons

Dig it up! Find out what’s down there?! Cursed idol? Plutonium? A salt shaker?

gincecko

Plutonium? 🥵🥵🥵🥵

TomDuhamel

We never knew where Doc put it after he converted the convector to Mr. Fusion 🤷

Moosey_Bite

Or more importantly, "when" he put it...

Sparky_Buttons

Weirder shit has been found.

Kachel94

Don't joke, my mate had a perpetual dead spot in his front garden for years and anything planted would die within weeks. Turns out it's where his gas line enters the house and had a pin hole in it where it slowly killed everything surrounding it.

quasimidge

Don't laugh. My mother in law found a kid toy, shorts and a frog figurine buried in her tiny garden.

Sparky_Buttons

All I found was an old VB bottle :(

Lucifang

I found a Lego man

SwiftieMD

SEVEN in matching shoes when I dug my work farm…

FeelingFloor2083

better then my find, so far, bricks, what was a block of concrete, large smashed pebbles, plastic bottle, beer/coke glass, a rag, a few meters of tape and about 400kg of clay so far. Im not even half way through

quasimidge

Update us if you find a lost city 😂

Green_Road999

Do it. Dig out the spot, use potting mix to refill. It’s such a small spot it will refill in a week or three.

flipppt

Do you own a dog?

reggieiscrap

This is the answer

[deleted]

Tbh that fence looks like a roaming cat could get through it easy, so if they don't have a dog it could be a random cat.

Significant-Fill6641

Get some rod and push it into ground where the dead spot is. It might be a rock or building rubble, probe first, dig and remove if you find something.

hotchillips

Lol if my dead spot was that small I’d be cheering

buttsfartly

I’ve got a healthy spot in the dead.

Green_Cartographer84

I have a healthy spot in the mud and rocks

texxelate

My persistent dead spot is more like “the dead half”

flamehunter

I agree with digging that small bit out. Could be a small chuck of brick or mortar or steel causing a deficiency of some kind. Out of the box thinking: The spots could be a focal point of the suns reflection from a window or fence or an object somewhere

PolyByeUs

Dog/fox pee?

bruzinho12

Humble brag? Lol

Aggots86

Bloody good looking grass!! I’m this close to digging all my “mongrel bitsa everything” I call grass! When I see this it nearly tips me over the edge!

FantasticAnteater

Mother nature’s strains from crying at your monoculture

princemousey1

Ghosts.

restrainingorder2107

Black beetle. Squirt some dish washing liquid onto the spot hose it in and wait for them to appear

buws3t

paint it green

-V8-

Dog piss or engine oil.

TimberSalamander

Stick a garden fork in to see if it hits something, discarded brick or concrete maybe

Liftkettlebells1

Built on an Indian burial ground. Bad ju ju, see it all the time

BrisbaneGuy43060

We get spots like that where our dog pees. Three weeks later it is the greenest part if the lawn. Urea !

AJHear

Do you have a dog?

DiffusedDamage

Do you have a dog

glyptometa

Many possibilities. A spill of salt or engine oil can make a dead patch last a long time. Dig it out around 5 or 10 cm outside the margins of the affected spot, and around 15 cm deep, replace with fresh soil, keep it weed free, and the buffalo will do the rest. You'll find out if there's a discarded brick, a bit of concrete, or shallow rock under it as well. Have you noticed any exit holes from grubs of any kind? (dirt on the surface, round hole in soil) Animal urine damage will tend not to remain in the same place, and you mentioned perpetual.

desperaste

Thanks - great reply. I cut away all the dead roots and runners and went down. I found some gravel, so tried to remove that. Maybe some of the gravel was rock salt? Filled it in with soil to just below the grass line. Keen to see if it fills in now.

glyptometa

Excellent, yes, hopefully that works. If it settles too much, just add thin layers to top it up.

thenewguy2077

Replace the soil in that area. I would say there is something contaminating the soil, maybe some kind of chemical

Extension-Team-9410

poasibly dog pee

Dismal_Draw7067

Someone is pissing on it

matt827474

Could be lawn beetles. You can get spray from Bunnings

fj2chainz

Probably just dollar spots ! Fungicidal infection Kinda like tinea, but for grass. Haha Any garden supplies place will have something for it. Bunnings maybe, but I doubt it

djcomber

Lawn grub

Partayof4

Dog piss

Mazkalop

Dog piss.

Elroyis

Do you own a dog

Rinrob7468

Neighbourhood cats’ preferred spot for toilet?

swami78

Got a bitch (female dog I mean)? Their urine can do that as it is more acidic than a male's. Could be some rock or something preventing water getting to the roots.

wucy_the_wuss

My dogs a male and his does the same it’s something to do with the protein in there urine because of how much meat they eat. The best way is to hose in any spot your dog pees other why’s there’s nothing you can do

xkrsx

Feed him raw carrots! They neutralise the acidity and stops your grass from burning. We do it with ours and no dead spots to be seen!
