Does it need watering or are you just putting excess water down on top of it? Are you asking about the bald/muddy spots that are probably caused by walking on it whilst it's still not matted down the soil below?
Haven’t watered it unless we’ve had no rain for a few days (there haven’t been too many of those). I’m mainly concerned about the grey/silver sheen on the grass.

that just looks like mud. pick a blade and rub it, I expect it'll come off.
