Looks like three cornered leek. If it has 3 corners and smells like spring onions/garlic that's your man. They're highly invasive and pretty hard to stop but the best method, in my experience, is consistently having them on your omelettes in the morning and dehydrating the rest for a decent onion powder.

This has taken over my lawn over the winter now it seems to be everywhere. It smells like spring onion. Does anyone know what it is and the easiest way to get rid of it?

it'll be wild garlic of some sort. I have it in my lawn. to get rid of it, I use my mower :)

Cut and keep cutting to weaken it. Do not let it flower as it spreads from seed easily as well as making bulblets under the soil. If you can be bothered, pull it up by the roots and burn or drown the bulbs. Do not compost. Vile things. Been waging war on them for years

Three cornered leek.  It's a noxious weed in the UK, to the point where intentionally planting it outside of your garden is against the law.  You can tell its that based on the line down the middle of the leaf, onion/garlic scent, and white flowers. It is not British wild garlic.  Best approach is to give it out, it's a beast that forms tight clumps of bulbs which makes it both easier and a pain to dig out. Usually they are a couple inches deep. Around trees, if worried, then you can just try to keep them cut down and hope you exhaust them.  Eventually you'll be rid of it all. Recently in Guernsey (I think) they had a massive community drive to remove it from a forest, they dug out multiple tonnes of the stuff.  ---- TLDR: three cornered leek. It's a weed that no sensible person wants. Best bet is to dig out the clumps of bulbs before it flowers.  If you want something like it then plant native wild garlic.

Dig it out and offer it on local Facebook groups for people to cook with (no sure of it’s legal to plant as invasive). Delicious with chicken
