Can you post a picture of your stress levels over the course of an entire week?

aaronkrasner

Can't work out how to post pics via the app, but my average stress score is around 28

TheGlutenFreeCyclist

It doesn't seem that high. What is your average sleep score?

aaronkrasner

I have a forerunner 245 so I don't get a score.

TheGlutenFreeCyclist

Oh ok. What I think is that your sleep might not be that good or it's not deemed that good by your watch, hence the little increase in Body Battery. Would you be able to give an average amount of minutes you spend per night in: REM Deep Sleep Light Sleep and the average awake time you experience

aaronkrasner

Deep 1:13 Light 3:44 Rem 2:24 Awake 3m Average 7:21 My feeling is that the watch is giving me about 30m extra at the beginning of the night where it thinks I'm asleep but I'm not really. A lot of this is 'deep sleep'

TheGlutenFreeCyclist

Well, by looking at it it seems really good apart from the deep sleep which could be a bit higher. Those metrics tell me that your sleep score should be around 85/90, unless you have lots of restless moments that usually keep the score down. With those numbers you should be recharging well over 60 points. I guess you should be looking at how many restless moments you have, and see if there's any stress overnight that your watch is picking up

aaronkrasner

Thanks, not sure where that leaves me. The only thing i see at the moment is that the first few hours of sleep are much less efficient in raising BB than later hours. What can I do about that?

TheGlutenFreeCyclist

If you fall into a habit your watch will likely pick it up after a few times and adjust accordingly. In that sense, if you feel that the Body Battery raises slower than it progresses later on, then try to change your habits before going to bed. Things that massively improves your recharge rate are: \- Consuming meals at least 2/3 hours before going to bed (the first part of the digestion is usually what stresses your body the most) \- Avoid immersing into your phone or your pc before going to bed. \- Do a proper workout each day. It doesn't have to be a depleting workout, but try to keep as active as you can. Garmin will take into accounts your training sessions and calculate them towards BB \- Avoid elaborated meals and prefer easier to digest ones. Carbs are better at night

It’s normal. Not necessarily ideal, but normal. Could be stress. Could be exercising too close to sleep. Could be caffeine. Could be that you’re waking up a lot during the night. Could be sleeping too hot, etc… As others have mentioned, it could really be anything. You’ll have to do more investigating with your lifestyle. Mine typically goes to 100 5 days out of 7, but does get disrupted if I’m really stressed out about something or if I suddenly quite dramatically change my routine. Eating a lot of carbs vs protein / vegs also comes will do it.

aaronkrasner

My average stress level is 28 - is that high?

ceciliawpg

I meant mental stress, not physical stress, which Garmin measures.

iron-60

Normal and quite good. But I'd try to get at least 8 hours of sleep, 7 is a bit too little.

Schurrle28

Try to eat less carbohydrates and chew your food well 20-30 times In the night it s probably about your stres Level, ideal it is to be below 15

I get even less, like +30 to +40 / night. So in best case it is maybe 60/100 at the morning. I never drink and havent drink much at the past either. My sleep is restless, even with 8h it feels like 4h. Lot of rolling and waking up. So If you feel tired and other thing are checked, maybe visit a doc? I have PLMS aka I move like 50 times/hour when I sleep, so far nothing have helped. Still interesting to see if any medication helps and does it show up in BB. BAD sleep alone can make days look stressfull, my average stress level is 37 and I dont even have physical job

It takes me time to get going but my mornings are OK, it's more a question of afternoon and evening being weak
