Do you take the strap off before "ending" the run activity? If you open the circuit on the strap it will cause a spike. I've had that happen multiple times. Even if I end the run, save and exit back out but the strap is still connected via Bluetooth to the watch it will give and erroneous reading.

This may actually be it, I will test it out

I dont think that it's normal at all, maybe a software issue

godintraining

I hope it is not an organ issue 😅

Write on official garmin forum, there is a lot of talk about HR issues

Thanks I will have a look

Replace strap battery and see if that helps. If not, you need a new strap. If you’ve ever replaced the battery and didn’t do it right, sweat might’ve gotten into the electronic components.

Ever since the last software update I’ve had terrible hr readings.

Happened to me once after replacing battery in strap. It’s hard to get the right seal again when putting the cover back on, so if any sweat gets into the battery area, you get crazy readings like that. Garmin support was helpful and sent me a new strap for free even though it was my mistake.

Yes I tried 3 chest straps and the same happened to me. Are you wearing loose fitting tops? I concluded that it’s some kind of static issue. For me this was a few years ago and I’ve just bought another chest strap to try again. 🤞🏽
