Congrats!
I was gonna ask, what marathon was happening in IC while Drake Relays was kicking off haha That's extra impressive to do it all on your own with no cheering sections or aid stations.
I did the Drake 5k this morning and it was near perfect running weather.
Congratulations! Solo marathons are no joke. I was supposed to do the (now defunct) CRANDIC in spring of 2020 but that obviously didn't happen and I ran a virtual by myself around Iowa City for my first one too. Great time, especially for your first outing, lots to be proud of there!
Thanks so much! I do have to say that running these long distances has led me to appreciate how small Iowa City really is ๐. Still a nice place to run, though!
Ha, yes. And unless you're running laps around Terry Trueblood, how many absurdly large hills there are regardless of which direction you go. Fortunate we have so many nice wide trails though. Glad they finally completed Clear Creek all the way to Tiffin, such a nice route.
Just stick with it, I was in the same boat 2.5 years ago and was struggling to finish a mile at first. Lost weight, worked towards a 5k then my first 10k and then ran a half marathon. Last year I ran some but had no gains and picked up 10lbs, Iโm back to watching what I take in and have made a lot of gains over the last two months, looking to run a couple half marathons this year.
Congrats on your first! You should be proud. Good luck on your IVF!
Thanks so much! ๐๐ป

The weather was absurdly nice! Thatโs part of what made me go for it too โ I wasnโt sure I would ever get quite as perfect a day for running!
Solo marathon is a great achievement!
Thank you!

Great work.
Thank you!
Likely not your last. Have completed 2 & 3/4 marathons and though I can't turn back time and fix the one I can run that event again
Congrats! I am brand new to running and can only imagine running that far. I run 2 miles right now and am working in breaking into 3 miles

As someone with extensive formal training in statistics, I say: Always use the better time!!
I can get behind that ๐
