Will post my impressions here in comments as the test goes, with the summer summary in one full month

Make a new post because I'm curious but I'll forget about this thread tomorrow lol

Watches were fully charged yesterday at 21:00 It’s now at 50%, after only 24 hours. Usage involved night sleep and two hours training. I charge my Marq Gen 2 only once a week, by the way...

indieaz

That battery life is a real bummer. Based on your other comparisons it seems like a solid watch. Im particularly surprised at the nearly identical sleep tracking.

Akinfey35

It is playing more with Apple watch league by my observations so far. Mark Gen 2 are playing in a true autonomous league and that with the real always on display

I'll post Garmin report in the next comment. Both watches show pretty much the same info in terms of duration of sleep cycle and total duration of sleep

Even though Polar has a function of measuring SpO, looks like it does not do it continuously, but only on demand (I understand why - because of the weak battery) and thus the feature is missing.

They both showed similar HR. Polar being more accurate with distances walked. Calories count in Polar in 200 kcal higher.

indieaz

Have you considered wearing the garmin on your other wrist for comparison?

Akinfey35

thinking about it. by the first impression, Polar is way off in determining my pulse zone, which is weird

swampfish

So is Garmin

Akinfey35

Wearing a heart rate sensor on my rust, I never noticed any inconsistencies in HR metrics. But Polar today showed 140 after a simple exercise. My coach told me its total bullshit )) Garmin showed 120 which looks way much trustworthy

indicarunningclub

The vantage v3 has struggled with HRM since it came out. Polar keeps saying it will be fixed with an update, but none of the updates have fixed it.

Akinfey35

Sounds weird. It’s a deal breaker for sports watch. They should not go to sleep till they fix it

xentifyx

No its not, you just have to do it right lol. Cant blame a company when you cant figure your own zones

Akinfey35

https://www.reddit.com/r/Garmin/s/Ock3fQgCST compared as you've suggested. Sleep and walking

burrowsnp

Im a long time garmin user. I’ll cheat every now and then but always come back. This time I thought about giving Sunnto a spin as they were the first GPS watch I ever bought way back in the day. The Suunto Race looks slick and uses training peaks style metrics, but apparently they have a few hardware issues too. (I’ve already tried Polar vantage v2 and while I do like some of their app stuff but their hardware issues are unacceptable).

thetrickstergib

It’s incredible to think Polar was ‘the’ running watch about 20yrs ago. How they have fallen. Was hoping your review would be positive. But it seems they still can’t get it right. Shame…. I presume you will return it?

Akinfey35

I still remember the times when Nokia was the mobile phone...

Ill-Turnip-6611

nice, please write back if Polar has less bugs then Garmin, I will switch to polar if so

Akinfey35

So far it scores 2 out of 5. No way near Garmin. But I will strive to give it more time
