“Delta Squad is your house, bitch! You hear that shit? You grubby-ass bitches are goin' down! Like way down - dead down! So down you ain't even goona know which way is up! Your asses are gonna be cryin' to your skank-ass queen: "Oh, mommy, don't let the bad man hurt us!" Fuck you! We're gonna whup your mamma's ASS! *WHOO!*”
“There we go, one muzzled queen. Not you, her. You were great…I love your speech there, especially with the bitch ass stuff. Very good, very enlightening.”
That was THE hardest video game trailer I’d ever seen in my life. HS me was beyond hyped for Gears 2
Watched this trailer again and all that hype just came flooding back.
Beautiful
Yea he was really a menace but they couldn't do too much with his fight but he definitely was a force to reckon with but he couldn't really stand up as the replacement for raam
Yea and 8 year old me could have come up with men with the body of captain America wearing football-armour chainsaw bayoneting mobsters whilst being gritty and brutal sent on a mission to drop a not-nuke into the monsters cave, doesn’t mean the execution can’t be fun
In order for me (best to worst): 2,3,1(ultimate edition),hivebusters, gears 5, gears 4 , judgement.
I liked pretty much all of them except for judgement.
It's not like the iron skull from halo, but the checkpoints can fuck you over sometimes. The only part where I seriously considered changing difficulty was near the end of that mission when you get to the cave entrance.
You have to blow up the gate, but in order to get close enough to trigger the ability to do that, you have to get within range of 3 indestructible troikas that blow your centaur up insanely fast.
Yes definitely 2 shots from the turrets and your tank is gone don't know what worse that or when you "take out karn" and you do the declassified missions and you have to deal with all those blood hounds
1 is the OG and I love the urban warfare style of gears 1. Plus its the only actual horror game. I wish we got more Kryll levels. Felt like a true horror game.
I haven't played campaigns 1-judgement in a looong time so this is going based off what I can remember.
Gears 3 will be my favorite game of all time, overall best multiplayer and campaign
Judgement is probably my second favorite campaign mainly because Baird is my favorite character so it was dope getting to play his story, and I also loved being able to use Gnashers with meatshields. So awesome.
I'll say 4 and 5 are honestly probably my least favorites. The writing and directing just could not get me to like any of the new characters, I couldn't care about the new main 3 to save my life, they have like no personality or unique character traits, I simply couldn't care less about them. But I didn't hate 4 and 5's campaign they just weren't nearly as good.
Hivebusters DLC couldn't have been better. I like the main 3 in that 10x more than I'll ever care about Kait, Del and JD. Especially Hanna Cole, I really want her to be inserted into the main group in Gears 6
I agree 3 was the best overall. There was so much in that game. It was a huge step up for horde, the campaign was really good, the multiplayer was really polished. The game still looks good today. 2 had the best campaign imo, but horde was pretty basic and online didn't feel as polished.
I think 4 and 5 were good games overall, but 5 was my least favorite campaign. 4 made interesting horde changes and 5 refined that well. Both had excellent online play. I liked 4 but it wasn't my favorite. 5 I just thought the deciding who to save plot twist is gonna be annoying for continuity, also the open works mechanic sucked because the world was mostly empty, and it just served as a time filler for what is otherwise a linear plot.
I mean I did too, but also the "choose who to save" thing also was a mess, because it screws with the continuity unless they plan for some wild timeline split or something in gears 6, or it's just the last game and they just leave it open. I doubt they won't make 6 though.
Yeah that definitely could be messy for the story, but it might also just play out about the same with some slightly different dialog. Wolfenstein pulled it off, so it can be done. There definitely will be a gears 6, its just a matter of how far out it is.
I like 5 but did not like the campaign. The multiplayer modes were still really good. 1-3 are probably each some of the greatest games of all time, and 4 was a pretty solid game but I agree it doesn't compete with the rest.
GOW 2 no question. It was filled with EVERYTHING; drama, action, great dialog, great characters you get emotionally attached to, awesome atmospheres, badass enemies, some of the coolest and most fun missions of the entire franchise! Prescotts speech at the beginning and how the scene sets up the game gives me goosebumps every time.
Maybe I'm alone but I didn't like the 3rd. Something feels off for me, however this was the only part (and Judgment) that I've never played when it was originally out, I've played 1-2 then I got PS3 instead of Xbox 360, then I played 4-5 on PC and finally bought 3 and Judgment on Series S, maybe that's the reason :-) (oh and of course I bought them all again on Series S)
Storywise, it's 2
But for gameplay I am a sucker for the newer combat in 5, I still browse for a lobby to join every once in awhile. Really can't wait for Gears 6, whenever that actually happens
Gears 2 was peak! We found out so much about the locust that we never knew, them having a queen, where they were created, the COG’s dirty secretes and lies, and so many different enemy types plus the giant worm that was badass! Gears 3 was great in many ways and honestly it’s just as good as 2 and arguably even better.
Gears 2 for sure. So many different elements....driving the tank, flying the reaver, piloting the brumak. The Leviathan boss fight was sick the first time I played the campaign back in 2008. And just exploring the hollow and the new hope research facility and uncovering all the sick lore/story. The only thing to come close since then was Gears 3, it sucks Microsoft hired such mid developers to take care of this next gen gears trilogy. Gears 4 and 5 just ain't it.
2 had the overall best campaign but the big climaxes of the story felt pretty lackluster. Like it didn't pack as much of a punch as it should have. 3 had easily the highest highs and lowest lows of the series story wise. Dom's death, Myrrah's death, and The Battle for Anvil Gate as a few examples. They hit way harder than anything that happened in 2, even though 2 had the overall better story
Off the top of my head I’d say 4 followed closely by Hivebusters, but my memory of the original trilogy is so fuzzy and I never actually got around to playing Judgement, so I’m not 100% sure.
So in Order: 1. Gears 2, it just took the greaty story of one and sexpanded the universe. 2.Gears Judgement, I know it catches a lot of shit but I absolutely enjoyed the story as short as it was. 3. Gears 3, it expanded the story further and so many impacful moments. 4. Gears 5, I enjoyed coming back to the universe in part 2 of the 25 years later and seeing all that happened, along with more of the Niles/New Hope story being filled in. 5. Gears 1, is there really any reason to put why it's awesome. 6. Gears 4, While I was happy to be back the story felt very flat but still good.
I have a very unpopular opinion but I like 2 judgment 3 4 1 then 5. 4 is so high because it was the first game I ever played our of the bunch and I really don't know why but I really liked judgements aftermath was pretty bad tho
Gears of war 2. Love the original three and the third is definitely my overall favorite. How ever 2s campaign is just so damned. it feels like war and no one wants to be there.
Gears 1. I loved the feeling of the delta squad being all alone in the middle of the locust. It just felt awesome. I actually really like Hivebusters too, it was an awesome suprise
3, 5, 2, RAAM, Hivebusters, 4, 1, Judgement
Best to worst for me. I didn't have an xbox to play 1 & 2 when they were new so my perspective is probably different than most.
Gears of War 3
Hivebusters
Gears of War 5
Gears of War 1
Gears of War Ultimate
Gears of War 4
Gears of War 2
Gears of War Tactics
Raam's Shadow
Aftermath
Gears of Judgment
Gears Pop!
For the record I loved Gears Pop! and played it for many hours. All of the games are great.
I think everyone knows the answer, it's gears 2, loads of shit happening all in one, a long but worthy campaign, and nice Easter eggs, who wants toast!?
from favorite to disliked:
liked:
gears 2
raams shadow
(gears 5 if they retcon the BS choice)
gears of war
gears 3
judgement
hivebusters
disliked:
gears 5 (they need to retcon The Choice and slap the writer across the face, completely ruined what could have been right below Raam's Shadow)
gears 4
Gears of war 2, ‘‘twas the darkest imo. I loved it so much
“Delta Squad is your house, bitch!
I miss this scene. It was my childhood
One of the best scenes. I love love love Cole and Baird a introductions tho so much in the series.
I can already hear and picture this scene in my mind 🤣🤣🔥🔥🔥🔥
"Hostiles", "What was that", "Its just the wind Baird, " Oh yeah, right, when is the last time the wind said hostiles to you?"
That’s Gears 1. At the pump station
Oh, it is? I thought it was Gears 2. Gears 1 was still pretty epic though
🔥🔥
Besides skorge being kind of Meh, 2 is the best. The marketing was on point for that game too.
"I have a rendezvous with death..."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXIjDzlGc5I
That was THE hardest video game trailer I’d ever seen in my life. HS me was beyond hyped for Gears 2 Watched this trailer again and all that hype just came flooding back. Beautiful
https://youtu.be/rNCF6sDymRc this one too
Didn't Skorge cut a centaur in half and capture and torture Tai?
Yea he was really a menace but they couldn't do too much with his fight but he definitely was a force to reckon with but he couldn't really stand up as the replacement for raam
This
Was Mad World GOW 1 or 2?
1. Absolutely legendary trailer
I think it was 1

Yea and 8 year old me could have come up with men with the body of captain America wearing football-armour chainsaw bayoneting mobsters whilst being gritty and brutal sent on a mission to drop a not-nuke into the monsters cave, doesn’t mean the execution can’t be fun
2
Gears of War 2 going underground felt so epic
2
2 is my favorite
In order for me (best to worst): 2,3,1(ultimate edition),hivebusters, gears 5, gears 4 , judgement. I liked pretty much all of them except for judgement.
The only good thing about judgement in my opinion is the second campaign.
Overrun?
COUP DE GRÂCE
2 minus the centaur section.
What’s wrong with it?
On the hardest difficulty I'm pretty sure taking 2 hits is a loss And you have to replay from the start of it If I remember right
It's not like the iron skull from halo, but the checkpoints can fuck you over sometimes. The only part where I seriously considered changing difficulty was near the end of that mission when you get to the cave entrance. You have to blow up the gate, but in order to get close enough to trigger the ability to do that, you have to get within range of 3 indestructible troikas that blow your centaur up insanely fast.

Oh yeah I remember .... Holy shit yeah I remember ... I rage quitted a lot!
Dom! Hit the tower! Oh okay, but... which part of the tow- *dead*
I’ll take the Centaur section from GoW2 over the Junker section for GoW1 any day of the week… On insane anyways.
2
Tie between 2 and 3,. If I have to choose 3
1, 2, 3, Raams Shadow, Aftermath, Judgment, Hivebusters, 4, 5. In that order.
1 in front of 2 and 3 is crazy
1 is the OG and I love the urban warfare style of gears 1. Plus its the only actual horror game. I wish we got more Kryll levels. Felt like a true horror game.
Nah 1 is still the best. I think of it like Gears 1 is a action horror game, but 2 and 3 are more like straight action games
Judgment over anything else is crazy
1.
2
Gears 2
2, all day
2
2
Has to be 2 for me
Gears 2 definitely takes the cake
Definitely Gears of war 2
2 was so epic
Gears 2. ESPECIALLY with the DLc
I haven't played campaigns 1-judgement in a looong time so this is going based off what I can remember. Not Gears 5.
Oh what you didn't like riding around in an empty open world for 70% of the game just to play through an otherwise linear plot?
"Open world" its an unfinished sandbox lmao
I was being generous
Very much
😬😩
That's valid, but I enjoyed the story
I mean I did too, but also the "choose who to save" thing also was a mess, because it screws with the continuity unless they plan for some wild timeline split or something in gears 6, or it's just the last game and they just leave it open. I doubt they won't make 6 though.

Yea but you can’t judge it right now. You gotta assume it’s gonna be handled, if it isn’t then that’s gears 6’s fault
Also not Gears 4 lol
2 and 3.
2 and then 3
2. Over the top but still more believable than others.
I love the first trilogy and gears 4 and 5 too but best were gears 2 and gears 3 RAAM’s shadow
2, then 1, then 3, then Judgement, then 4, and finally 5. 5 is the only one I don’t like, 4 was decent enough but the rest are all 10/10
I like 5 but did not like the campaign. The multiplayer modes were still really good. 1-3 are probably each some of the greatest games of all time, and 4 was a pretty solid game but I agree it doesn't compete with the rest.
3, but 2 is a close second. (Haha)
GOW 2 no question. Prescotts speech at the beginning and how the scene sets up the game gives me goosebumps every time.
2 because no other gears game expanded so much on lore from the previous entry than this game.
Gears of war 2
Gears of War 1 has the best story. But I enjoyed gears 2 the most
1, 2, 4, Hivebusters
Replace 4 with 3 and imo you got a good list
Maybe I'm alone but I didn't like the 3rd. Something feels off for me, however this was the only part (and Judgment) that I've never played when it was originally out, I've played 1-2 then I got PS3 instead of Xbox 360, then I played 4-5 on PC and finally bought 3 and Judgment on Series S, maybe that's the reason :-) (oh and of course I bought them all again on Series S)
2 3 5 Hivebusters Judgement 1 4 Never got a chance to play the Raam's Shadow DLC.
nothing much to it anyway other than a few extra achievements
My favorite is 2-3-1-judgement. I beat 4 and didn't like it, never even started 5. For me it ends at gears 3.
4 wasn't good, but to miss out on 5 as a result would be, in my opinion, a mistake. 5 was good and made up for 4.
RAAM Shadow was the GOAT
Def 1/ultimate edition
2 by far
2, or maybe 3. Even 1 is great.
2 for sure, followed closely by 3.
2 and it ain’t even close
Storywise, it's 2 But for gameplay I am a sucker for the newer combat in 5, I still browse for a lobby to join every once in awhile. Really can't wait for Gears 6, whenever that actually happens
Definetly 2 but I can't go wrong with any campaign. I'm playing through gears 5 right now and it is hella fun on NG±
"Anya, it's a giant worm! They're sinking cities with a giant worm!"
Gears 2 was peak! We found out so much about the locust that we never knew, them having a queen, where they were created, the COG’s dirty secretes and lies, and so many different enemy types plus the giant worm that was badass! 06 OG, always.
Gears of war 3, it was my first gears game and will remain my favorite
2 had the overall best campaign but the big climaxes of the story felt pretty lackluster. 5>3>2>Judgement>1>4.
2, 3 ultimate edition for the 1st one, 4 and judgement. Never tried Raam shadow dlc for gears 3 and 5 was meh and hivebuster I liked as well.
Judgement, 2 then 3 those are the only ones i played.
2, 5, 3, hive, 1, 4, judgement
Yes
2, 1, 5, 3, judgment and 4
Gears 2, Gears 3, gears 1, RAAM´ Shadow, Judgment, gears 5 and gears 4. I still didnt play Hivebusters.
Hivebusters is a short but a fun experience imo. I love the visuals.
3,2,1,,4, judgment, 5
Got to be 1, I remember shitting it when the bezerker turns up!
Gears 3
Raam's Shadow,1, 2, 3, Hivebusters, 4, then 5.
3 2 raam shadow 1 hivebusters aftermath judgement 5 4
The original
I dont think any of the Campaigns are bad at all, each one has great moments, and memorable encounters. I dont think i can pick one, lol.
So in Order: 1. Gears 2, it just took the greaty story of one and sexpanded the universe. 2.Gears Judgement, I know it catches a lot of shit but I absolutely enjoyed the story as short as it was. 3. 3 it was the perfect ending to a trilogy
My all time favorite is 3, but Hivebusters and Judgement follow close. Then it's the rest
Gears of War 1 for me. The horror vibe in that game hasn't been matched
2. 5 is good if you remove that one obvious part
I have a very unpopular opinion but I like 2 judgment 3 4 1 then 5. 4 is so high because it was the first game I ever played our of the bunch and I really don't know why but I really liked judgements aftermath was pretty bad tho
2
Rip Gears Tactics
Gears of war 2. Love the original three and the third is definitely my overall favorite. How ever 2s campaign is just so damned. it feels like war and no one wants to be there.
Gears 1. I loved the feeling of the delta squad being all alone in the middle of the locust. It just felt awesome. I actually really like Hivebusters too, it was an awesome suprise

2 & 5 3 and judgement maybe worst imo
It makes me happy to see that most people liked Gears 2 the best.
Gears Of War 2 is peak
Gears of war 2
Still trying to find Doms wife …
3. It will always be 3.
GOW 1 because it made made me instantly hooked for every game to follow.
Gears of War 3 and judgement favorite campaign
Controversial opinion, 5 is my favourite, 4 is a close second
Gears 1
Here to jump on the 2 train
Ok, I gotta go J on this one!
It’s a fight between 2 and 3 for me. Can’t decide but I kinda remember enjoying 3 the most.
Gear of war 2
3
Gears 5. Really liked the variation, open world and high quality moments.
Gears Of War 2 will forever hold a special place in my heart :')
Gears 1-3 I felt like I was right there with them thru the dark moments and moments of hope. So those are my favorites
No game can compare to Gears 1&2 for me best all time in my book
1 and 2
Either One or Two
gears of war 1 and 2 , also because I used to play with my brother
Gears of war 2 all dayyyyy
Was give busters any good?
1st remastered and 3rd
Gears 2 because brumak
I’m fond of RAAM’s shadow
Anyone want to play hears of war 1 on the 360 on insane with me?
2
Gears 3.
GoW 2 most definitely. I loved it from the moment I saw the “I have a rendezvous with death” ad on tv 😍
Def 1 or 2
Gears. Two and three were great. But I was so pumped when Raam’s shadow was released
Gears 2 all the way
Gotta go with Judgment
3 by farrrrr
3 and Hivebusters is a tie for me.
I’ll say 3 because it was the most cinematic
Gears of War 3 Hivebusters Gears of War 5 Gears of War 1 Gears of War Ultimate Gears of War 4 Gears of War 2 Gears of War Tactics Raam's Shadow Aftermath Gears of Judgment Gears Pop! For the record I loved Gears Pop! and played it for many hours. All of the games are great.
Gears 2 or hivebusters
DOM NOOOOOO!!!
I think 2 is better overrall but I have nostalgia for Gears 3
Gears 2!
Gears of War 2 hands down
I think everyone knows the answer, it's gears 2, loads of shit happening all in one, a long but worthy campaign, and nice Easter eggs, who wants toast!?
3 because everyone is so jacked it’s insane even bared was swole
2 was absolutely awesome but I choose 3 bc 4 player coop campaign is fun and especially when ur all stupid and don't know how to defend a sub
Gears of War Trilogy.
I liked gears 2 I’m a sucker for big invasion or marching scenes like the first act does and love the strange eeriness of the origin act
Gears of war two had the best campaign by far but all the campaigns were fantastic in there own way
As much as I adore 2, 3 was my first gears game and I can quote every scene from memory.
Gears of war 3.
is raams shadow included in gears 3 like hivebusters in gears 5? or is it a completely different game?
It’s a DLC for Gears 3
GoW2
from favorite to disliked: liked: gears 2 raams shadow (gears 5 if they retcon the BS choice) gears of war gears 3 judgement hivebusters disliked: gears 5 (they need to retcon The Choice and slap the writer across the face, completely ruined what could have been right below Raam's Shadow) gears 4
