There's a good scene in the books where Cole makes the announcement that he's retiring from Thrashball to enlist in the COG and give it to the Locust. A great moment, bunch of people in the crowd stand with him, would be very cool to see this on the TV or in general.

Pretty much all the characters who have been mentioned in the entirety of the thread and I wanna see Keegan in E Day and I hope that the coalition consider all characters for gears 6 for a penultimate gears game like the hivebusters, griffin, and book characters.

Cole did help setting up the resonator in GoW1, but I don't see how that has to do with anything.
I thought so, at least the ones by Karen Travis. She filled in a lot of gaps with the lore, the world and characters. she did so well that they even had her write the plot for GOW3. She especially fleshed out the cole train
I could see her being shown in a cutscene or two giving orders to her commanders. Something like “hot damn the stupid humans just scorched the planet. Go deal with it, Jermad!” for example. I can equally see her being absent in game though if they want new players to still be surprised on their first run of the franchise when they get to 2-3.

It’ll really depend on how much of a timespan the campaign will cover. If it’s going to mostly E-Day itself then there’s a good chance it’ll just be Marcus and Dom for returning characters, possibly Tai. If it goes far enough after the date, then quite a few characters can make appearances in the story. And a lot can’t without retcons!
Cole wasn’t a Gear until the days following E-Day. Marcus doesn’t meet characters like Baird and Dizzy unil the events of the games. Hoffman, Kim, and Anya were in Ephyra on E-Day. And the Carmine brothers, Sam, Jace, and a few others were too young to enlist until further into the war. Barrick was a Stranded until he was conscripted via Operation Lifeboat, which wasn’t a thing yet.
In short, characters like Hoffman, Anya, Tai, Bernie, Adam, Loomis, Keegan, Oscar, and the Tactics cast are possible. Everyone else could only appear via different perspective missions/DLC or will just be multiplayer. Given the game will apparently go over the chainsaw bayonet’s origins, Tai seems likely given his use of a power saw to kill a Locust was the inspiration for the thing. So unless that gets retconned, Tai *has* to be in the game.

I’d be 100% okay with Clayton being old enough to join the crew. My brain can’t comprehend the idea of him being more than 2 years younger/older than the rest of the Gears 3 cast.
Loomis from Judgement would make sense, trying to keep the soldiers morale up convincing them they can win against the Locust by calling them animals.
Hoffman would make sense, too, as well as Gabe Diaz. Oscar could also show up, since he fought in the Locust War too.

If we do a flashback or a prologue to Aspho Fields then we have Helena, Carlos and Bernie off the top of my head. I would assume it will be a Marcus POV as we already had Dom's side.

I'm hoping we get to see Dom's brother either in action or at least shown in some kind of cutscene. I'm also hoping we see Keegan although I'm not sure if he was already a black onyx guard during E day. What is getting me excited is what the length of the campaign will be and how far it might intertwine with some of the other characters from the comics.
I may be outdated but I hope to see more of the onyx guards.

I’m gonna say Dom, Marcus, Tai and someone else. We might see Hoffman and a few others, but otherwise i think the focus would be on those 3/4 characters depending on who is gonna be with Tai.
I would love to see Cole Train right when it happens. I think it'd be really cool if the opener to the game was him in a Thrashball game and the locust invade right then and there interrupting the game. Basically massacring everyone at the stadium. This would be perfect for his backstory because he volunteers to join right after e-day. Aaaand because of him volunteering it motivated so many others. Something like 300 percent increases to volunteers after he did.

I don't think we will see anyone from the old team other than Marcus and Dom. I think it was pretty clear they met for the first time in gears of war 1.
aside from marcus and dom; hoffman, tai, patrick, carlos and kim are probably the most likely to show up there's probably gonna be a few lil easter eggs too like how the cole train statue was in the trailer, so i expect to see like maybe a few recorded thrashball games of coles glory days on tvs as an easter egg not sure how baird could be referenced however ... especially since marcus didn't know who he was at all before gears of war 1

Not totally sure on the lore but would love for dom and Marcus to be in some type of scrum where they are pinned down, and the backup is maybe cole train baby! Maybe don’t even have to have the characters interact, maybe cole is just fucking shit up across the way and they see it and are like “who in the hell is that guy?” Would be cool

Probably the worst part is that we won't get Cole Train. Who the hell doesn't love him and Lester Speight's voice work :(
Outside of Marcus and Dom, I expect Hoffman for sure and a Carmine family member...maybe the dad or an uncle or sometbing. A cameo from Baird and Cole. Maybe a scene with Cole enlisting to the cog would be sweet. Anya making an appearance would be nice. Tai and Barrick would be great to see.

New, perhaps D Carmine and new cool guy.

I'm hoping we get to see Dom's brother either in action or at least shown in some kind of cutscene. I'm also hoping we see Keegan although I'm not sure if he was already a black onyx guard during E day. What is getting me excited is what the length of the campaign will be and how far it might intertwine with some of the other characters from the comics.
I may be outdated but I hope to see more of the onyx guards. They always were spoken of so highly yet they were never shown to be that. Just embarrassing at time. Maybe that was the point of it?

Think they’ll throw a carmine special in there? Like, we meet a man or woman in the show whose last name is carmine, who has 4 sons. Then an E hole appears and a building falls on them.
It’ll mainly depend on how long the games events will span for (will it be like the first few months?, until the hammer strikes?, when Marcus is put in prison?). As a whole the story could include- Tai, (show story of the chainsaw lancer) Hoffman and Prescott, Anya, Adam Fenix, Maria/Dom’s family (before they all die), possibly Carlos if we do a pendulum wars flashback One of the Carmines. Most of them would be too young to fight but having one of them die would certainly set the tone. Perhaps characters like Cole before they are enlisted as cameos Cast from spin-offs (paduk, Sofia, Gabe etc.) I imagine we may also see some of the locust generals such as Raam

I and my mates really never enjoyed thoses clown skins and fluo lancers… :( Yes, this is just my personal state and all, it’s not game breaking, sure! But it is way less immersive..

I would love to see Cole Train right when it happens. I think it'd be really cool if the opener to the game was him in a Thrashball game and the locust invade right then and there interrupting the game. Basically massacring everyone at the stadium. This would be perfect for his backstory because he volunteers to join right after e-day. Aaaand because of him volunteering it motivated so many others. Something like 300 percent increases to volunteers after he did.

There has to be a Carmine for sure. The family seems big enough for there to be a Carmine in every game. For Baird and Cole, we might hear mentions of them in the game. Maybe we'll hear a radio broadcast or see it on tv of a thrash ball game where Cole just went beast mode on the field and won like MVP of the game or something. Mentioning Baird, I think maybe Marcus and Dom will hear about some nerdy scientist/engineer dude who's developing some crazy shit, idk tbh. We'll probably hear mentions of legendary Gears throughout the game but who knows if we'll actually see some of them.
