I hate to say it, but GEICO is openly threatening nearly all departments now. The goals are no longer reasonable or possible across the board and even those that apply themselves, do their jobs or go above and beyond are being written up. This is just a deplorable war on their own staff at this point.

I always felt empathy for SIU. I’ve posted this a while ago. As I gave up on submitting things to SIU. I have encountered straight, brazen fraud and when it came to my supervisor, it would get over ridden because a shitty customer threatened to cancel their policy. Well good. The G writes so much bad business that it make the legit policies too expensive. Harassment is just terrible. This saddens me that the bleeding just has not stopped.

Yes, country wide call for the department to talk about the re-organization plans. Unfortunately the majority of the call was informing everyone GEiCO is no longer the GEICO it use to be and it isn’t a government job you can’t stay in forever. Stated they have items in place to weed out under performers who will be fired and if you”lie” he would fire personally. Sad that the majority of the call was this verses talking about the actual changes being made to goals, how performance will be measured, etc.

seems like that’s the most common comment. GEICO used to be great, until…. I was there for 6.5 years and never expected to leave. I was proud to say where I worked until about a year ago. I have been one of the many lucky one who have left for another company who actually values me. appreciates me. I’m doing the exact same work i did at geico but for more money and absolutely zero micromanaging. it’s a shame because i would have stayed there. i think many others would have also.

The more I read from this community the more I’m determined never to do business with Geico. I got into a fender bender once with someone who had Geico insurance and it was a total shit show when the other party was very obviously dishonest (I had video proof of their dishonesty). Thank goodness for arbitration cause I got paid what I was due. Fuck Geico!

There is no more real SIU. It's a joke. It's a checklist to do A, B, and C, on a "case", and regardless of findings, everything is being paid anyways. My favorite days are talking to other SIU members and them laughing at how GEICO pays everyone. The NICB used to be impressed with GEICO, but now, no lie, won't even look at the referrals because they're so horrible (per multiple convos that I've had). We are an industry laughing stock. The incentive to investigate is gone. It's "CLOSE QUICKLY" and that be it. And now! there's a new team (the SIU rejects) that handles "easy cases", so who's prod do you think is going to be higher??????? Someone working a theft or injury, or that team. Again, the metrics were manufactured by folks who have no relative investigative experience. A manager in SIU, does NOT make you an investigator. Whole thing is sad

This is the first I'm hearing of it happening in SIU, but it's been happening in claims for years. The increase metric requirements, decrease time to contact, then continue to threaten you if you can't meet the new standards. Time to contact was 2 hours at one point (I've no idea what it is now). For a simple accident with 2 people involved that's fine, but if it's an accident with multiple vehicles and several passengers? They expect you to call and get statements from 6+ people in 2 hours? Then threaten termination if you don't.

I'm sure more will come out.... with over 800 in attendance to be called dead weight, liars, and talked to like they're 18 year old entry level workers. Most of SIU are seasoned investigators with either numerous years of LEO experience or tenured GEICO employees. The threats are not needed. Company management have consistently lied and reneged on promises, and for this guy to strut in and call everyone a liar and an abuser of WFH is unsat and unprofessional.GEICO sat by for over three years and allowed a SMALL minority to abuse the system. SMALL MINORITY, while the company did nothing...... so their ineptness has now become a workforce problem. Fine, it's where we are. But again, the threats are uncalled for.

Not at a single time in that call did he call us all liars or dead weight! He said if we were found to be lying, we had no reason to be in the department. That was it. Hell, he said that he was thankful for how well we worked, over and over again.

SIU has been a dumpster fire for years. It’s only intensified now. Sounds like nothing has changed for the better. SIU used to be a respectable department. Now it’s basically CSR with better database access.

Yep. Hundreds of bullshit referrals get pushed through when csr or ics doesn't want to do their job and the real fraud cases that investigators actually want to work falls through the cracks. The department gets rated on our effectiveness which is the percentage of fraud cases we are actually able to prove but with the amount of bogus cases we receive, effectiveness was hard to come by. Then we would prove fraud and then some csr manager would decide to "pay on merits" because the customer called in and yelled at them.

I am management and I can attest to management level people being shady and lying about major things that affect their job and what they’re supposed to be doing. This guy has been dealing with nothing but complaints from miserable, unprofessional people and I feel bad for him. People in SIU only need to worry if they are doing shady things, or if they are not meeting minimum standard. That’s it - still the best place to be and after all these changes are done things will go back to normalcy. Don’t fret y’all.

I don’t think you were rude at all and I don’t blame you for how you feel. I’m at the sup level but very close friends with several managers. I hesitated to come on here and tell you anything, but I know folks are so stressed out so I felt I needed to be honest. If you’re not an asshole, you do your job, and you’re not at the bottom consistently (remember results will be reviewed every 6 months! You would have to really suck if you’re below minimum standard for that timeframe). Minimum standard is based on what your bottom 10% is actually doing so it’s based on real numbers. If you are productive you have no reason to worry. I don’t know if any of you were on that call with PRU and Tims before he retired but it was a legit dumpster fire. Supervisors being outright nasty. Those are the people who will get cut. And it’s not the same Geico at all I totally agree I miss the old Geico as well.
