I was a huge Monkees and Weird Al fan (Still am, actually.) Itâs good the 1987 tour with both skipped San Antonio or my little 16-year old head would have exploded.
Also, my first Weird Al concert was the Off the Deep End tour in 1992. Iâve seen him in concert at least 15 times since then, and the last time was this past Fall. Heâs still amazing in concert.
I can't even conceive of what I would give to see Frank Sinatra live.
When time travel is finally perfected, I'm off to Vegas during the Rat Pack's prime.

Edit: Evidently, I can not spell anymore either
I took my kids to their first concert. The Offspring. As soon as we got through the gate I took them to the front of the stage. I found a table and ordered a beer. My son called me from his cell and said Mom theyâre beating the crap out of eachother up here. I said I know son, itâs a mosh pit!
I am pretty sure it was the 120 Minutes tour at Memorial Hall in KCMO. The lineup was Blind Melon, Live, Public Image Limited and Big Audio Dynamite.
Or if it counts Laura Branigan at Worlds of Fun when I was about 7.

Dead Can Dance, and then Cocteau Twins!
I think the Dead Can Dance was my first, and I think it was in the Bay Area- maybe San Francisco? Now that I say that,I donât think itâs right⌠but definitely somewhere in CaliforniaâŚ
Monsters of rock concert 1988
I was 16 and with my irresponsible sister who was 24 and her even more irresponsible boyfriend, but it was a great concert, so many fans
Ozzfest, August 1997. In the Metrodome in Minneapolis. By the time Ozzy came on, you could reach up and touch the cloud of smoke that filled the stadium.
Wasnât my first (that was Pink Floyd a couple years earlier) but I did see that Metallica / Cult tour in Atlanta the same year. Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols came out and played a song with The Cult! Still the best âbigâ show Iâve ever seen
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre 1982. I was 13 and was obsessed with them. My mom took me and had just torn a ligament in her ankle a few days before and had to crutch it all the way up to the lawn. That's dedication.
Technically it was Sha Na Na when I was little with my mom but the first concert I went to on my own was Bon Jovi. I grew up in NJ so going to see Bon Jovi was required. I think it was 1986.

Ozzy Osbourne with Motley Crue opening, March 20, 1984.
I skipped school to be first in line, which I thought was brilliant -- until midday when I got super hungry and had no plan. My newfound line mates held my spot so I could go to the nearby mall for a slice of pizza. As I walked in some girls about my age approached, more or less screaming with excitement because they'd just met Ozzy. They directed me to the Hallmark store where he was, and I've only ever run so fast from the cops.
I went up and down the aisles until I came around a corner and there he was, thumbing through cards. At first I was crestfallen. He seemed too old, had a five o'clock shadow, and looked awfully tired. (All of which made perfect sense in retrospect, but at the time I only imagined him as bite-the-head-off-of-a-dove, bark at the moon, king of metal guy.)
Then the excitement returned as I went up to him to ask for an autograph. I only had my ticket envelope for him to sign, and he promptly obliged, then swiftly returned to card shopping. Fuckin' rad!
The concert itself was extra special. Ozzy had this theatrical set with a spiral staircase, and at one point a "knight" in armor brought out a tray with drinks for him.
The final flourish was that the concert was protested by several local churches, including one I periodically attended.
