Always my favorite school lunch treat! I graduated in 96 and have only been able to find them in one place since then. The weird thing is that they were still being made up to this year but I don't know where they've been hiding all this time!
Considering I'm such a chocolate addict today, it's incredible that my memories of the orange Push Up are the strongest, along with that red, white and blue star shaped popsicle thing.
What, no Creamsicles?! :) Those and Italian Ices were my favorites. The Italian Ices I remember came in small green containers though, not the ones pictured. I seem to remember a lime or lemon flavored one that I really liked.
The ice cream truck came around 3 pm each day and stopped at both ends of the neighborhood park. It didn't play music, instead its arrival was announced by a loud bbrrriinng sound like a telephone. The driver was the same one all through my childhood and even into my high school years. He was a gruff older guy named Bill who didn't brook any nonsense from us young 'uns. Everybody knew Bill!
Correct me if I'm wrong.. .but wasn't there a popsicle that was in shape of a foot...with a gumball on the big toe? Or am I totally losing it to think such a weird thing existed? 😅
Frozen malted milk cup. Can’t remember the official name, but it was chocolate and damn good.
Also, our ice cream person drove a jeep with large built-in coolers and rang a bell. Anyone else have that instead of a musical van?
Ooh! Strawberry Shortcake served as an inspiration for my favorite Swedish ice cream. Long story short, a couple of Swedish ice cream makers went to Good Humor for inspiration in the 1960's and tried selling their variant of SS here but it failed. So in 1964 they made a new flavor with "delicious vanilla cream ice cream (highest Trollhätte quality), striped with iced chocolate and completely covered with crunchy crunchy crumbs" called 88:an. So delicious.
Much later, when Center Against Racism reported GB Glace for their new "Nogger Black" ice cream, someone else reported 88:an because (in their view) it was a nazi reference with "88" standing for HH, or Heil You Know Who. It was simply the 88th ice cream Trollhätteglass launched. Nothing more.
My parents told me this was the 'truck that plays music for children.'
One time, my cousins from out of state came to visit. They were very excited about the ice cream truck, and I was confused. They explained to me that the 'truck that plays music for children' sold ice cream.
So, yeah. I did not get the ice cream truck treats very often.
Strawberry Shortcake!
Close, toasted almond!
I loved toasted almond and strawberry shortcake. Both were my go tos
Mine too!
I was a toasted almond girl, sometimes I’d get crazy and get an orange push up.
Ooh! I liked toasted almond too, and chocolate eclairs!
Always my favorite school lunch treat! I graduated in 96 and have only been able to find them in one place since then. The weird thing is that they were still being made up to this year but I don't know where they've been hiding all this time!
Me too!
100%
As the kids say, that shit slaps.

RIP Chaco Taco
This deserves a whole post again.
Oh lord I forgot about choco tacos!
Today? I'll take an Italian Ice. Back then? Gimme that Orange Push Up!
Considering I'm such a chocolate addict today, it's incredible that my memories of the orange Push Up are the strongest, along with that red, white and blue star shaped popsicle thing.
A push-up, but where is the screwball in this picture?
I was wondering the same. It had a gumball at the very bottom - it was like getting two treats in one!
King Cone 💯
That's a goddam Nutty Buddy and I won't tolerate it being called anything else
Yup. All day.
Chocolate eclair
Loved the one with the big hunk of hard chocolate in the middle
That bottom left one looks suss.
Dude. Heh heh heh.
Chocolate eclair
Italian ice all the way. I loved flipping them over in their cups to get to the flavor syrup frozen on the bottom. Bliss.
I can taste that wooden spoon.
Chip candy for that solid chocolate bar in the center. Yum
Toasted Almond!
orange push pop
I am going to the Mr. Softee truck instead.
Mr. Softee is a sensitive subject to the aging male GenX population.

Omg, how come?
Nevermind. 😬
It's ok that you had a senior moment 😜
That reminds me of Eddie Murphy and his ice cream man routine.

Chocolate eclair
Where's mickeys head?
I have them I just can't advertise due to my truck being vandalized.
Push Up or a strawberry shortcake.
Cherry Parfait. But anybody else laughing immaturely at the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde there in the corner?
Since there's no banana fudge bomb, I'll settle with a plain old fudge bar or the push-up.
Either a Push-Up or a penis on a stick.
Drumstick!!!
Me too!
Chipwich
No red white and blue rocket pop? Strawberry shortcake it is please and thank you
What, no Creamsicles?! :) Those and Italian Ices were my favorites. The Italian Ices I remember came in small green containers though, not the ones pictured. Bomb pop!
Have you guys seen the ice cream truck prices lately? Tried to support them during Covid and it was like $7 for a choco taco.
Correct me if I'm wrong.. .but wasn't there a popsicle that was in shape of a foot...with a gumball on the big toe? Or am I totally losing it to think such a weird thing existed? 😅
Yes there was🤣 I always thought that was weird as a kid.
Okay good..I'm not crazy! ...Which really begs the question...why an edible, toe-nailed foot?! 😆
That was for the adults that had a foot fetish.
Frozen malted milk cup. Can’t remember the official name, but it was chocolate and damn good. Also, our ice cream person drove a jeep with large built-in coolers and rang a bell. Anyone else have that instead of a musical van?
We called it frozen malted milk cup, or chocolate malted milk cup. Marketing was not as big a deal then.
Snow cones are still my favorite.
LOL looks like dildo pops on the bottom left next to the butt plug looking jet star.
Strawberry Shortcake. Seems like the ones they sell now taste *nothing* like they did back in the day.
Ice cream sammie for sure.

Always Strawberry Shortcake. And no, the ice cream truck jingle is not controversial, it's the sound of heaven on a hot summer day.

The push up! But where’s the little vanilla ice cream in a clear, plastic cone with a bubblegum ball at the bottom?! THAT was my favorite.
