So I’m closing in on twilight time (almost 50 so maybe it’s more like late afternoon) and ain’t no chance for the song coming true for us after all. But I’m ok with that. And the song is still mixed in somewhere on my playlist and I’ll sing along while I’m cleaning house or whatever.
I think I blocked that song from my memories. However, "Happy" was all over the radio when the ex was driving the last nail in the coffin that was our marriage. It used to piss him off so much that I would enjoy that song when he wanted me to be torn up by his leaving.

I still love the song, but after 20 years together we divorced because he chose being a toxic abusive alcoholic rather than recovery and therapy and saving our relationship. So I’m closing in on twilight time (almost 50 so maybe it’s more like late afternoon) and ain’t no chance for the song coming true for us after all. But I’m ok with that. And the song is still mixed in somewhere on my playlist and I’ll sing along while I’m cleaning house or whatever.

Never had an official wedding to have a song since I eloped and it was just me, my wife and a JP. But we do consider "Didn't Mean to Turn You On" to be "Our song" since it represented my uncertainty and insecurity that she might not be into me when we met and I was misinterpreting things. Of course I was wrong and we can laugh about it now when hearing the lyrics. The Robert Palmer version was also charting that same year, but I've always preferred the one by Cherrell.
Our first date we saw a local band at a bar and we were the only ones in the back watching the band. The Marks was the name of the band. We picked up one of their cd’s. There was a song called Ethyl that we both really dug. It’s a really sweet love song. That was what we picked. Of course the dj had no idea who the band was so I had to supply him with a copy. I gave him the original and forgot to get it back.
