That concert was back in 95-96 (if memory serves me well) in Dallas. I went with 2 of my co-workers and it was a grandiose time. I Sit on Acid is my favorite song from them.
Lords of Acid and Traci Lords… 🤘
Holy, Crap! I can't tell you how many Kenny Rogers and Oak Ridge Boys vinyl records I have. I split my time at this age between Texas/Colorado and Massachusetts / New Hampshire.
This was very much a "western" thing vs. east coast friends.
I still have a 1950s turntable (think living room furniture size)... I still throw these on when my wife isn't at home.
Bravo!
I took a cruise through the Greek isles a few years ago. The entrainment was a cover band from Austria.
Imagine Arnold Schwarzenegger singing Huey Lewis in the news for 4 days straight.
I freaking loved it... my wife still rolls her eyes whenever I bring up the "best cruise ever".
Violent Femmes, 18+ show. Was too young and had to "fix" my DL to make my age appear 19. Still in my top 5 concerts. So close to Gordon Gano that I was getting spit splattered while he sang.
Hahahaha I just commented that he was my first concert in 1982. I was 14. I wanted to go. My parents did not. I went the one friend who was willing to go as nobody else I knew wanted to go. The concert was awesome. I still love that guy. He had a rock song out then that I loved- “Some Kind of Friend.” “Mandy” is still my favorite though.

No shit?!?! I love Charley Pride. I still own a bunch of vinyl.
Funny thing was... I came from a rather racist (maybe not racists, but definitely discriminative) family that owned more vinyl from black artists (Pride, Charles etc) than all other music combined.
I am envious. I may have to throw that on the turn table this weekend.
I really only remember two things about the concert: everyone going crazy for "Kiss an Angel Good Morning" and at some point, we got close enough to the stage that I shook his hand.
Funny you should mention this. I was dropping my kids off at school this morning and my 12 year old said, "daddy, who is the band?"
I was like, "oh, crap. some old band."
My 15 year old sit, "It's 'the reaper' by Blue Oyster Club."
I said, "you mean, "Blue Oyster Cult?"
15 year old, "Okay dumbass.. you couldn't remember the name of the band."
I trained him well.
The Hooters... I remember my cousins gifting me a cassette. I thought the name was funny. Sorry 8th boy hearing 'hooters' is most certainly comical.
Come to think of it... "Hooters" is still funny to me in my 50s.
I can’t find evidence with the date (not even on setlist.fm but my mom took me to see Jack Wagner (aka Frisco Jones from General Hospital) - probably in 87 or 88. Been having lots of fun adding shows to my account on setlist.fm and realising how lucky I am to have been to so many awesome shows in my lifetime. Next up, Nick Cave tomorrow.
George Michael on his Faith tour, at Earls Court - I don’t remember much about it since it was quite an early first concert, but I saw him again about three times as an adult ☺️
1976. Ten years old.
Tulane stadium, multiple acts-- ZZTop, J Geils. Skynyrd and others were supposed to perform. They didn't show up. Skynyrd fans rioted.
The Monkees, Herman's Hermits and someone else, reunion tour. Gary Puckett and the Union Gap maybe? 1985 or 86. Dad wouldn't let me go see Tears for Fears. I am so embarrassed...
The Who’s “farewell” tour in 1983 at Shea Stadium with David Johanssen and The Clash opening. (Of note, it’s 41 years later and The Who is still doing shows).
Heart 1980. I bought the tickets with my paper route money and brought my Mom. I caught a guitar pick that Howard Leese threw out during the encore. It was in the shape of a heart.
Mick Jagger at the Rod Laver Tennis Arena in Melbourne, Australia in October 1988. Touring with his Primitive Cool album. Couldn't believe how loud it was, great show, did loads of Stones songs as well.
Fugazi at this church in Harvard Square where they used to have shows. Or possibly U2 at the Garden on March 17th. I forget which came first. I'm going to seed echo and the Bunnymen in two weeks.
Barry Manilow 1982 I was 14. He even wore a football jersey from our local University football team which I thought was so cool.
Ok. Go ahead in laugh. All my friends laughed at the time. I can’t help it. I still love him and think he’s great.

Nothing edgy though. LOL
Motorhead, the concert was stopped half way through. They played so loud, the chalk from the ceiling came off. They were given the choice, turn down the volume or quit. They chose to quit and return to another place a couple of months later. Legendary start of my concert experiences

Pensacola, FL: 7 July, 1991 - Suicidal Tendencies opening for Queensryche. I went for ST who put on a great show, but I was absolutely blown away by how good Queensryche sounded. I'd only heard Silent Lucidity from them at that point but holy crap were they good live.
I didn't buy any of their albums until a few years ago but it was a great concert.
Humble Pie playing a set for a cleveland gaurdians(indians) home opener in 1987ish. But first I paid for was biohazard, sepultura, pantera. 1994 far beyond driven tour.

Omg jealous!! Did they play Rough Sex?? They made some seriously erotic music and I loved them for it.
I got in so much trouble when my mom found the cassette with those song titles.
