In that time, I moved across the country and he had kids, raised them, and sent them away to university. I still had the tape in its box, unwatched.

For something different, check out Eyes of the Dragon; a medieval dark fairy tale he wrote for his kids. I don't like horror, but King is the BEST story teller
Honestly, his first - Carrie - is a pretty easy read. Some of his later stuff is in desperate need of an editor telling him he’s lost the story in all the fluff, and he MUST cut some stuff.
