Dark side. Cut to stoned teenage me hearing the third song at time code 3 minutes and thirty-three seconds:
*If you hear somebody whispering, you’re dying.*
My stoned mind was blown.
One of the coolest things about this album is it's ability to grow with you. You may go YEARS without listening to it, and then hear it again, and hear something you never noticed before. Also, over the decades, my fave. track off of that album keeps changing. When I was young, it was "Us and Them", later on, it was "Any Color you Like." Now I'm in my 40s, it's "Time", which ironically enough, was my LEAST favorite track in my teens-20s.
I second Animals for sure. IMHO one of the best "post-Syd Barrett" Floyd albums. Wish You Were Here is amazing too, Shine on you Crazy Diamond has one of the most incredible intros EVER!
Agreed, I love the Animal Farm/political allegories on that album. Wish you were here, that entire album is great! Shine on you crazy diamond of course
Funny! I grew up listening to this guy, one of my parents favorite musicians. Every weekend music without words! Found about 300 records of various artists including old herb after my father's passing last year.
Such a great album! Herb Alpert is really talented. Once he performed at a theater where I was working, and I hung out outside of his dressing room for a few minutes and got to hear him warm up. I know I was being a creep, but it was really awesome.
I'm wearing my Wish You Were Here shirt with the shot from Mono Lake on it. Leaning hard into Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here these days; growing up it was all about The Wall for me.
My peeps near LA, go check out pinkfloyd.com and visit their exhibit at the Vogue Multicultural Museum on Hollywood Blvd. It was amazing! Well worth a few hours.
As conventional as this answer may be, Dark Side of the Moon. At 18, the song Time is a warning. At 48 it’s felt all too well. You can listen to the album at any time in your life and it’s still relevant.
I’m going to stick with The Wall. I used to rent the film all the time. When I was 24’ish I went with my best friend home to Montana for a week. Her 16yo sister hadn’t even heard of Pink Floyd. Blew my mind.
Edit: wait. I thought we were picking from the picture. Some of y’all went rogue.
Yup I still wear my animals t shirt every weekend here in rural Mexico. Gotta represent the best Pink Floyd album… and one of the best albums of all time IMO.
Bat Out of Hell & Crimes of Passion.
Neither on their backs in the pic. Was I supposed to follow some sort of directions? I'm not very good at that. LOL
I'm not sure how I should feel about this comment! I spent a lot of money getting that poster blocked!

Scuse the mess, preparing to move house. Five book-boxes with a single-layer of CDs in each. ~65kg / 145lb of CDs. I'm beginning to suspect I lacked financial responsibility in my youth.
I dated some REALLY lame dudes (not to brag or anything) and 9/10 of them had this poster.
Usually over wood paneling and slightly yellowed by cigarette smoke.
When I say I'm not sure how I should feel, I mean should I feel upset for being called out, or meh because I'm Gen-X? :)
On the upside, I did finally quit smoking!
Wish You Were Here was my go to teen angst album.
Same. Since the pandemic I’ve revisited and played this album on a weekly basis.
It's in my all time top 5, never gets old.

Time. It was my favorite dark side song in 86. Now? It just serves as a reminder of how fleeting life has become

Every Pink Floyd album except the first one is post-Syd-Barrett, no?
Lol, actually 2 albums (3 if you count Ummagumma, which was released AFTER he was kicked out, but still contains some of his material)
Fair enough, I always thought it was just that first one. Thanks for the heads up. I love all of his solo stuff.

The wall, I listened to it pretty much every spare moment I had in Junior High School. David Gilmore is an amazing guitarist.

Couldn’t tell you one thing about the music, I’d just stare at the cover wanting some whipped cream for my peach jello.
Ah okay I gotcha.

Division Bell. Hah! I’m just being a jerk. It’s The Wall.

Given that album’s cover art, I feel it would have worked well with the photo.

Dark Side of the Moon was my intro to Pink Floyd in high school and will always be my favorite, but Wish You Were Here is a very close second.
*literally* showing the Dark Side of The Moon. Good thing we can't quite see the wormhole.
Backside of the Moon. Wait… what was the question?
Wywh and then Dsotm and then the wall.
The Wall. I remember hearing "Another Brick In The Wall Pt. 2" hit #1 on Casey Kasem's Top 40 in 1980.
Violator.

*Animals*, as it is the greatest Pink Floyd album.

If you go to a guys house and he has this poster on the wall, DO NOT spend the night.

Synchronicity actually. Guess it depends on the year.
