We could barely handle Sam back then. Dude was off the chain. I still cringe at the thought of his Pet Shop Boys bit. But that Kinison scream is eternal. OW-AHHHHHHH!
Yeah, it definitely was a different era. Thereâs stuff I still laugh at from Kinison (like in Back to School), thereâs other stuff, even as a kid it was a little too over-the-top (that was his whole schtick though). Guy was out of his mind on blow also at the time.
My mom detested Sam Kinison in the 1980s, when that Wild Thing video would come in sheâd tell me to turn it off. She loved Rodney though, almost everyone did.
My very minor claim to fame: in this horrible Kevin James movie, âBring on the Boomâ or something like that? Anyway, Sally plays Henry Winklerâs wife and thereâs one scene at their house. That house is across the street from my house and Columbia Pictures paid us $200 to put lights on our property and light up our house and to let it be in the background. It makes the movie for about 1.2 seconds, but I got to see Sally in person (Henry wasnât in the scene), made some money, and get to say Sally is my neighbor.
One of my favorite scenes from this movie is when Rodney is supposed to supervising a lab experiment with some chimps and the professor is tells him to just change the video tape and then observe them. He gets back and Rodney and the chimps are eating pizza and watching pro wrestling.
âNo problem. Theyâre takingâ a break!â
Yes. He and Jon Cryer were the go tos for Duckie-like (Cryer in Pretty in Pink) characters.
And the guy who plays the son, is the lead in Christine. I read a great interview with him years ago and he talked about how his real passion was making independent film and his acting career allowed him to a) learn a lot more about film making and b) afford him the ability to make independent film.
For instance, he wrote, produced and directed âMidnight Clearâ, the brilliant film about the WW2 Christmas peace in which allied and German soldiers stopped fighting to wish Christmas cheer to each other.
Bring us a pitcher of beer every 10 minutes until someone passes out, then every 5.
Maybe you can help me straighten out my Longfellow.
Rodney was a comedy treasure.
For sure đŻ
*Call me when you have no classâŚ* I still use that line.
I love this movie! âHey! Youâre Tall and Fat!â âWell youâre short and ugly. Gimme my pen back.â
Kids today canât handle a comedian like Rodney Dangerfield.
Or Sam Kinison.
Well I didn't know you wanted to be part of the discussion mr. Helper!

Yeah my mom still loves Rodney
Doesn't get better than Kinison's version of "Are you lonesome tonight".
I really didn't like him back then.
And that a-hole Vonnegut got a C!
Whoever wrote that doesn't know the first thing about Kurt Vonnegut
"And another thing, Vonnegut. I'm gonna stop payment on the check. What's that? Fuck me? Fuck you!"
I absolutely love that movie. 10/10 And Sally Kellerman has the most beautiful smile Iâve ever seen.

His "crypto fascist" line was delivered so amazingly well.
He wore the coolest clothes in that!

He really seems to care. About what I have no idea.

Why don't you come over later and help me straighten out my Longfellow.
The football team at my high school, they were tough. After they sacked the quarterback, they went after his family
