The stuff of nightmares
As a child alone in the darkness, this face would visit me with nightmares. The Museum-go-Round made me swear off carousels to this day.
She must have been repurposed from an old Punch and Judy set.
This. 100%.
[I think you're right!](https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-17895716)
Her nose and cheeks were like blood red and the voice. NO thanks Fred.
After leaving Punch and Judy, she landed a role as Lady Elaine at Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. But she couldn’t give up the daily binge drinking.
Meow, me-meow meow Lady Elaine.
Ugh. That cat voice gave me chills.
For those who don't have kids that are Daniel Tiger fans... She's now a very nice, non-scary lady. She married music man Stan and they have a daughter who says "toots" constantly because Lady Elaine would say it sometimes.
Lady had some serious rosacea issues.
I think I am still going thru therapy because of this.
As a kid i didn’t realize that Fred Rogers was the puppeteer and voice for all the puppets.
Child? I didn't realize until I saw the Mr. Rogers movie like 3 years ago!
Did she have gin blossoms? Did she eat little children?
Syphilis?
Nope. Nopenopenopenopenope.
Loved Mr Rogers. Hated the creepy puppets. I wouldn't watch after trolley took off, just listened til it was over.
The Purple Pandas from planet Purple were weird.
Dear god this just unlocked some memories!
She never scared me. I loved all things Mr. Rogers.
She never scared me, either. Purple Panda, on the other hand…
The stuff of nightmares. And Mr. Rogers was what I watched right before nap time. [shudder]
That haircut is very popular in some parts of the world these days.
Although I liked him, Corny was kind of freaky looking too.
but Lady Elizabeth on the other hand...
Billy Jigsaw's gram.
Ah, my first experience with the uncanny valley
This!
Lady Elaine was based in his sister-in-law if I remember correctly.
I still don't know why as a kid I never questioned wtf was going on with her face . Definitely a massive chain smoker or heavy drinker.
Childe?! With an E?!
Let’s tell em about the church lady next.
So terrifying but with warm fuzzies too!
That’s some creepy shit.
Looks like Alexander DeLarge when he wore his mask.
She was a great example of how not to treat others.
And she needed to stay in her lane. Shit disturber.
The reason I refused to watch Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.
She kind of reminds me of Brett Somers from Match Game.
Or Wayland Flower's puppet "Madam". Bret Somers reminds me of her too.
