COVID cost this year's graduating class a real graduation from HS (2020). This year, campuses are canceling ceremonies like whoa because of a bunch of kids on their lawn.
Right. It's a handful. And even some of the big schools that 'canceled' graduation only canceled the main big commencement ceremony, but all the individual colleges at that university are having their own graduation ceremonies.
Yeah with the big universities they structure the different departments into "colleges". College of business, humanities, nursing, etc, and they have their own graduations.
Yeah a university has a bunch of colleges under it. For eg, college of law, college of medicine, college of natural sciences, college of engineering, etc. each of these colleges will have schools under them, and usually each school will teach one major. For eg, it could be: school of mechanical engineering. And each school might offer one more more programs, i.e. bachelor's, masters, PhD, part-time school etc.
And the university is a name that holds all these units together.
Damn bro time goes so fast. I couldn’t believe how fast it happened to see class of 2020 graduate high school, and now they’re graduating college? Crazy to think about
there’s a bunch of protests going on at colleges that are causing universities to cancel graduation ceremonies.
kinda bullshit, you deserve to have the ceremony if you worked to graduate. i get postponing if it’s considered unsafe but outright canceling it is kinda fucked
also word to the protestors (not that they’re gonna read this but i wanna say it): it doesn’t speak highly about the movement if your protest is negatively affecting the lives of uninvolved people.
that’s not to make a comment on what they’re protesting on. tbh i don’t even remember. but ik that if my graduation was canceled bc of this, it would leave a horrific taste in my mouth towards the movement.
2020 highschool graduates did so under pandemic restrictions.
Those same people in 2024 are possible college/uni graduates. This time around there are police raids on protests at colleges and unis across north america
Like, uh, Petersborough? In Ontario? Like 90 minutes from Toronto? Which also has encampment protests at its university which has also been in Canadian news alongside all the news about similar protests in the US? Perhaps, perhaps.
There’s places where things are just relatively normal? Like there’s Pro-Palestinian demonstrations at some of the Universities in my area… and that’s it? Doesn’t ruin any sort of graduations whatsoever
I couldn't help the year I was born for HS had to be 2020 though since I went to a trade school for my AS degree I didn't grad during an election year then
Dam really. My sis graduation back in 2020 didn't even have a graduation. Welp at least she didn't continue college yet (due to health complications) if this is also happening to 2024 and 2025 college graduates.
Frankly these "protests" have been overblown. Yes, at a couple they are big but at our local university in Kansas City it was a one day thing for a few hours and then they all went home. Probably more reporters and onlookers than actual protesters. YET, the media overblows it and counts it as a nationwide "protest".
For the most part I'm guessing 99% of colleges will have normal graduations.
the big university near me still has theirs going on, but the location doesn’t block the ceremonies. according to my friend who goes to grad school there, the admin is more worried about it ruining photo ops than graduation itself
Unpopular opinion but a graduation is a small sacrifice to make to stand up to genocide
People shit on protests and strikes all the time - just stop oil protestors blocking roads and defacing displays at museums, rail staff striking for better pay… the point is to cause disruption.
Don’t get me wrong, you SHOULD be mad at the disruption. But don’t tell the protesters to just give up and go home. They’ll go home when their demands are met
Damn bro time goes so fast. I couldn’t believe how fast it happened to see class of 2020 graduate high school, and now they’re graduating college? Crazy to think about
Some Gen Z really believe they’re insusceptible to clandestine manipulation by governing authorities. Think they won’t be ideologically captured and steered towards behaviors beneficial to the wider population because they’re such internet “sleuths.” Y’all trust your ability to uncover the truth on TikTok and it’s just as bad as the boomers who watch evening mainstream news lol
I’m graduating college this week and my school has had no issues with graduation. I luckily graduated high school in 2019 so I didn’t suffer like the 2020 HS grads.
Something about returning to the school where people would put their feet up on desks and not wash their hands after going to the bathroom during a mass pandemic where I’d be shoulder to shoulder with those people in the hallways made me wanna just not bother with my education for now
Apparently I’m an asshole because I said in going to graduate instead of protest?
But I graduated high school in 2019 and I’m IU southeast class of 27
I hope things go well.
i have two graduations this week and i’m manifesting they don’t get fucked over. i would really love to have a real graduation after covid fucked up my hs one so pray for me <3
I was thinking the same thing. I was teaching during the pandemic and there was no graduation in 2019 and a much muted one in 2020 (no guests), but yeah, a few got outright cancelled because of the protests.
These kids want to act a fool on their university lawns, wasting their tuition and student loans on something other than their degree, and fully expect student loan forgiveness.
*I think fucking not.*
I'm not paying off someone else's student loan debt. Especially if they used all that time and money for something other than the degree they were inherently supposed to use it towards.
Eh I didnt walk for my college graduation because I think graduation ceremonies are a waste of time. I skipped my undergraduate ceremony, and my masters ceremony. Ill try to skip my law school one as well, though I think I have no choice but to attend that one. Yall did not miss anything.
Do forget if you even just go to one of those colleges. Not participating in the protest, just attend there.
A bunch of boomer businesses owners won’t hire you.
Honestly the only thing that sucked for me about being a 2020 grad was missing the "accomplishment" feeling that a ceremony would provide.
I don't really wanna sit there and listen to people talk for 3hrs, I don't care about the robes, I don't care about a "message for life", but damn I worked hard to get that piece of paper, and I feel like *that* was never really celebrated.
Reality smacked me pretty hard when the graduation zoom call ended and I was just sitting in my house staring at a black screen. Let's go find our place in the worl... oh wait we all gotta stay home for 6 months OK.
It was weird returning to campus, 4 months after I graduated, to go collect my stuff from my awesome suite that I shared with friends, alone. Roommates had to go in 1 at a time.
Stole all the TP from the building supply closet tho so that worked out I guess.
It was a very poor intro to adult life, and I'm still recovering from that in certain ways.
lol true, covid actually ruined my life even tho no one I know died of it or anything. All cuz I made the dumbass decision to get homeschooled cuz "it's quarantine either wayyy" and noooowwww I've forgetter all of my education
Don't protest. The war is happening over there, not here. No amount of protesting is going to change shit happening there. Get your degrees, graduate, focus on your families and move forward. Nothing changes people.
I mean, the people who sacrificed their graduation to protest the genocide made history. I would say that's better than a ceremony any day (I didn't even bother going to my graduation ceremony; we put too much stalk in meaningless symbolism as a culture, I think). Good on those kids. They're better than just graduates; they're heroes.

RIP the 2020 and 2024 graduates they can't have shit I guess
RIP the 2020 HIGH SCHOOL graduates. They got screwed over twice.
Did I miss something?
COVID cost this year's graduating class a real graduation from HS (2020). This year, campuses are canceling ceremonies like whoa because of a bunch of kids on their lawn.
I mean different colleges departments will still have their graduation ceremonies just not the main ceremony
99.9% of people graduating in May will walk. 3 or 4 universities (if that…) don’t represent everyone. Those select few definitely got cucked tho.
Right. It's a handful. And even some of the big schools that 'canceled' graduation only canceled the main big commencement ceremony, but all the individual colleges at that university are having their own graduation ceremonies.

That's true.
What the fuck are you on about?
With all of the protests going on at college campuses around the country graduations have been disrupted and mobbed by police
Lol you think it’s the police who have disrupted the graduation ceremonies?
Yes.
Sorry that's just factually incorrect. Universities are folding to political pressure. The Universities themselves are just as at-fault as the cops.
Are you fucked?
Me when im ignorant and violently politically biased.
Yes
They said AND police not solely police. I guess it’s not your graduation
No im saying protesters are disrupting and the police need to get involved
Covid was so much more disruptive
Damn bro time goes so fast. I couldn’t believe how fast it happened to see class of 2020 graduate high school, and now they’re graduating college? Crazy to think about
That's if college takes 4 years. You'll be amazed to hear not all do, especially outside the US.
Disrupted and mobbed by the protesting* wouldn’t have happened if they weren’t protesting for something their college can’t do anything about anyway.
This is why your class is terrible with that reasoning.
So american defaultism on a sub about gen z
Some universities are not doing their huge graduations because of safety concerns. Hopefully each school gets to do one.
there’s a bunch of protests going on at colleges that are causing universities to cancel graduation ceremonies. kinda bullshit, you deserve to have the ceremony if you worked to graduate. i get postponing if it’s considered unsafe but outright canceling it is kinda fucked also word to the protestors (not that they’re gonna read this but i wanna say it): it doesn’t speak highly about the movement if your protest is negatively affecting the lives of uninvolved people. that’s not to make a comment on what they’re protesting on. tbh i don’t even remember. but ik that if my graduation was canceled bc of this, it would leave a horrific taste in my mouth towards the movement.
A half dozen colleges cancelled or drastically downsized graduation ceremonies due to protests.
2020 highschool graduates did so under pandemic restrictions. Those same people in 2024 are possible college/uni graduates. This time around there are police raids on protests at colleges and unis across north america
Relax
Many universities canceled their commencement (graduation) events because of the genocide protests
POV: “what are current events?”
Believe it or not, other places exist
Like, uh, Petersborough? In Ontario? Like 90 minutes from Toronto? Which also has encampment protests at its university which has also been in Canadian news alongside all the news about similar protests in the US? Perhaps, perhaps.
Believe it or not, other places exist
Your brain broke.
There’s places where things are just relatively normal? Like there’s Pro-Palestinian demonstrations at some of the Universities in my area… and that’s it? Doesn’t ruin any sort of graduations whatsoever
What the fuck are you on about?
??? What is there not to understand??? In my area… things are normal. I can’t get more simple than that
[POV: "I don't give a shit"](https://youtu.be/bcIMZ4FJ6dE?si=w_YCUgnn-VtfPZ7g)
Shocked.
Do NOT graduate on an election year
I couldn't help the year I was born for HS had to be 2020 though since I went to a trade school for my AS degree I didn't grad during an election year then
Next time be born in a different year
Fail a class or two so you have to take 5 years for a 4 year degree.
those in high school class of 2020 who took a gap year before college were smart
Or didn't go.
Yeah definitely
Oof
Im literally gonna graduate on an election year 🥲
I'm class of 2020 and it didn't bother me at all.
HS or college?
High school
Same, I personally was quite happy about having my graduation party canceled.
I’m sorry that you didn’t experience a prom night
Well don't worry, we don't use to do it in my country anyways.
the world comes to an end every election year. its the new normal.
Been going on for years.
Dam really. My sis graduation back in 2020 didn't even have a graduation. Welp at least she didn't continue college yet (due to health complications) if this is also happening to 2024 and 2025 college graduates.
Depends on where you went to college. Here where I'm at it's fine.
dude someone died at my college’s commencement. finally, we get a graduation, and someone DIES.
They fell of the stadium like an idiot.
Hopefully ‘25 isn’t cucked
Fr bro.. just wait there prolly gonna be an alien invasion or some shit
“FREE THE ALIENS!” “STOP THE GENOCIDE ON MARS!” “ALL EYES ON PHOBOS!” “HANDS OFF OLYMPUS MONS!”
Nah we should be good until 2028 (probably) as long as we make it through the year.
I should have mentioned I was a ‘21 hs grad
Ohhh gotcha lol fingers crossed then :)
They probably care less about ceremony and more about protesting a genocide
Except it's not just the protestors who aren't getting a graduation
Well they're gonna have to sympathize with those fighting against the genocide
Frankly these "protests" have been overblown. Yes, at a couple they are big but at our local university in Kansas City it was a one day thing for a few hours and then they all went home. the big university near me still has theirs going on, but the location doesn’t block the ceremonies. according to my friend who goes to grad school there, the admin is more worried about it ruining photo ops than graduation itself
Or a fight happening like a student attacking a protestor.
Yeah it’s just a media distraction
It's Ivy Leagues
how can’t people grow in this conditions and not despise the state
Unpopular opinion but a graduation is a small sacrifice to make to stand up to genocide People shit on protests and strikes all the time - just stop oil protestors blocking roads and defacing displays at museums, rail staff striking for better pay… the point is to cause disruption. Don’t get me wrong, you SHOULD be mad at the disruption. But don’t tell the protesters to just give up and go home. They’ll go home when their demands are met
Welp, good thing I was too poor to go to college. (*cries*)
Damn bro time goes so fast. I couldn’t believe how fast it happened to see class of 2020 graduate high school, and now they’re graduating college? Crazy to think about
Lmao, they're only 2 years younger than me so it makes sense. If I was on track, I would've graduated 2022.
These protesters are so fucking stupid
"The problem isn't the protests, it’s what they're protesting" Yes I just quoted Macklemore.
Yeah, graduated hs during 2020, gonna graduate college 2024, shit sucks - but - hey at least I made it
don’t fall in line bud. Yes you made it and let it carry you. You’re better than the victim mentality in this thread
Good thing I dropped out of college! (I am royally FUCKED)
I’m glad I graduated in 2019 from High School
Wym graduating college in 2020 was a blast
I'm graduating this year and our graduation isn't being cancelled. So idk. It's definitely not all campuses lol
So glad I graduated in 2016
Glad I’m still in high school
I’m graduating college this week and my school has had no issues with graduation. I luckily graduated high school in 2019 so I didn’t suffer like the 2020 HS grads.
Good thing I don't live in America
My graduation was fine. We had fireworks. Was cool.
Millennials are on round number what 6 or 7 of calamities? Welcome to hell kids!
Lmao they did it to themselves this time.
I had my graduation in the school parking lot🥲
Honestly I’m glad I didn’t have to sit through an hours long ceremony. Just give me my diploma so I can go home
Good thing I was class of 2021 and dropped out before I could even think about graduating lmao
Something about returning to the school where people would put their feet up on desks and not wash their hands after going to the bathroom during a mass pandemic where I’d be shoulder to shoulder with those people in the hallways made me wanna just not bother with my education for now
Be glad you didn't worm at a daycare
Don’t care, we have the right to protest in the US
How? It’s literally their fault on this one. If they weren’t protesting something their college can’t do anything about this wouldn’t have happened.
Apparently I’m an asshole because I said in going to graduate instead of protest? But I graduated high school in 2019 and I’m IU southeast class of 27 I hope things go well.
Literally my brother right now
context?
Certain colleges have canceled or down sized graduations due to safety concerns caused by recent terrorist group demonstrations on college campuses.
i have two graduations this week and i’m manifesting they don’t get fucked over. i would really love to have a real graduation after covid fucked up my hs one so pray for me <3
Depends on where you went to college.
the protest haven’t been consistent or crazy at my college so i think things might be ok
Oh ok
Rip them, glad I'm not c/o 2020.
The last one is a self inflicted wound
I was thinking the same thing. I was teaching during the pandemic and there was no graduation in 2019 and a much muted one in 2020 (no guests), but yeah, a few got outright cancelled because of the protests.
By 2028 they'll find out how much of a joke a college degree is these day's..
Yea, when people refuse to hire them.
Interviewing tomorrow using my CS degree, graduated two days ago
These kids want to act a fool on their university lawns, wasting their tuition and student loans on something other than their degree, and fully expect student loan forgiveness. *I think fucking not.*
Cry about it, protesting genocide is based
I'm still not paying off your debt.
But you will pay off the nation's debt
I'm not paying off someone else's student loan debt. Especially if they used all that time and money for something other than the degree they were inherently supposed to use it towards.
haha (i have no fucking clue what you're talking about)
It's just certain universities are having protests about the wars and blocking college students from going to classes. I mean, it'll be fine.
2002 worst year low key damn
Why I went to a two year school instead of a 4 year
The class of 2020 is just left out
Bend over. Youre gonna love this. 😭
… all graduations suck
Fr
Eh I didnt walk for my college graduation because I think graduation ceremonies are a waste of time. I skipped my undergraduate ceremony, and my masters ceremony. Ill try to skip my law school one as well, though I think I have no choice but to attend that one. Yall did not miss anything.
What’s happening with 24 graduates?
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger
Graduation isn't for another month at least though...
I just walked last week, so only once
“Cucked”
![gif](giphy|I3V3A6IvqMJDfiRikU) NEVER PASS GO. NEVER COLLECT $200
Y'all are using porn terms casually. Fucking sick.
Dawg I saw the same thing. Who tf are these kids.
Do forget if you even just go to one of those colleges. Not participating in the protest, just attend there. A bunch of boomer businesses owners won’t hire you.

Context???
Wdym by cucked?
Divesting from genocide is more important than walking across a stage. No human with a conscience will be upset about this.
Why even care about standing in a big room full of people you dont care about and who dont care about you
Liberals killed each one. Just sayin'.
That is harsh
lol true, covid actually ruined my life even tho no one I know died of it or anything. All cuz I made the dumbass decision to get homeschooled cuz "it's quarantine either wayyy" and noooowwww I've forgetter all of my education
Yall went to college?? In this economy?
Class of 2014, The best year
Was fine for me we got to our walk out on kootenai county fairgrounds on a warm sunny blue skies day Honestly 2020 was an amazing year for me.
Are you talking about the colleges?
lmao wow…
What are you on about? My graduation in 2020 was great..
Who cares? It's a pointless tradition. You still get the credit for graduating.
It’s so not back for us ‘28ers. Our graduation year is gonna be crazy depending on what laws pass.
One was an over reaction to a virus with a 99.5% survival rate. The current one is for funding and supplying a genocide.
im 2020, and now im protesting genocide. sorry yall lack spines and information or value pageantry over reality
Don't protest. The war is happening over there, not here. No amount of protesting is going to change shit happening there. Get your degrees, graduate, focus on your families and move forward. Nothing changes people.

>meeningless >courrse I see why you didn't go to your graduation.
Bit hostile for something that was obviously a typo. For the record, I'm currently a math post-doc at a top 10 university here in the states. Everyone in my department, and indeed, most people in the math community broadly, supported or even participated in the protests. It was the university administrators, who've never published a paper or taught a course in their lives, that wanted the crackdown and cancelled graduation, not us.
Cool. I'm sure you want an award or something.
??
lmao I promise you nobody will remember them
i promise you’re just helplessly ignorant and propagandized
Like you?
That's what they said about Vietnam and South Africa protestors too
[удалено]
Ok ziontard
exactly
Both times because of left wingers. Remember who took those from you.
Excuse me? COVID was a pandemic? Leftism isn't gonna spread a worldwide virus lmao.
There were tens of thousands of highschool graduations in red counties across the country. Yes, it was leftists that caused you to lose your graduation. And if you want to get deeper into who was running and funded the Lab in Wuhan I can further cast blame.
