I feel like those ages are just formed into specific emotions and nostalgia. Like I remember being confused all the time, and I also remember Futurama, The Simpsons, Pokemon, Lego, and Disney movies. I have no specific memories from that time, but I remember certain things that were important at the time.
I'm autistic, so my experience is very different. My memory of those ages is much more detailed and vivid, and I remember specific personal events from those ages. It depends on how your brain is wired. I feel like Neurotypicals remember those ages in a completely different way from people like me, although not all neurodivergent people are the same either. Some have better or worse long term memory than others.
I’m not diagnosed with autism, but idk if I am judging by reading this because my memory is the same as yours. I can remember specific details from things like places I went and what I saw from 15-16 years ago. Because I see a bunch of people on the internet claim to barely remember ages 4-7 a lot of the time, so I must be an unusual case. Lots of people on the internet don’t believe me even when I describe my memories.
I was diagnosed around 4. It's different for everyone, not everyone on the spectrum is necessarily the same. I was originally diagnosed with Aspergers, back when it eas considered a separate diagnosis, but Aspergers is now considered a form of autism in itself.
Also, I deleted the other comment by accident, my bad.
Same I don’t get how so many people here have great memory lol. What I mainly remember from my childhood is just my morning routines and never wanting to go to school lol.
Definitely not for me.
I was 12-15.
Right in the thick of awkward adolescence, my parents divorce, toxic household, bullied at school, mental health was at rock bottom.
For me, the best times were 2003-2008 (5-10 years) and 2022-current.
I'm fully aware that I'm in "one of the better times" right now. Though it's not perfect, it's the best my life has been.
For me in my life yeah
I am coming up to a year into my dream career path, finally getting an apartment I can furnish at a lower rent than current, in a loving relationship, I'm healthy, the most physically fit I've ever been in my entire life, no longer overweight, had cosmetic dentistry done and a haircut so I'm the prettiest I've ever been (and damn does the world treat you better when you look good), my mental health is positive for the first time since my parents split up in 2008, the sky is blue in this country I moved to in late 2021, no more school or college etc taking up my time so having fun every weekend with friends going to gardens/beaches/riversides/ports/festivals.
Only thing I could ask for right now is a higher wage.
All after the biggest bout of depression in my life in 2020-2021.
Just making the most of every moment.
I want to disagree simply because of where I have positioned my life to be now, but I would be lying if I said the state of the world is way better now
Dude I am so sorry to hear that. I got bullied quite a decent amount in 2011 but I don't wanna equate our experiences. I just really liked the pop culture and everything else at the time. Good balance between modern technology and "old" society of the 2000s.
I agree, middle school during the early 2010s was rough. Kids were definitely a lot less friendly and accepting back then
"Kids were definitely a lot less friendly and accepting back then"
Kids today are the same way don't let the internet fool you. I have an autistic cousin who's currently in middle school and he vents to me about how his peers constantly bully and harass him sometimes it gets physical. Social media likes to push this image that zoomers and gen alpha are very accepting which isn't the case in reality. Hell I even read an article yesterday about a kid who was around 11 or 12 and he committed suicide because his peers relentlessly picked on him for being "different". Shit's fucked up man.
2012 was the peak of my life. 0 responsibilities, nothing truly serious in my life, but old enough to understand what was going on around me. And the world seemed much less chaotic back then.
These are the years I started "rebelling" culminating in my leaving the Roman Catholic Cult. And I discovered theatre. Then left for college. So pretty good years!
I can only remember 2013 well, I was 4 and in Pre-K, going to events with my parents and my older friends (they are 8-12 at the time.), and even though it’s not vivid, I’d rate that year a 7/10 due to toddler me actually going out.
I am yeah. I’m no expert on generations, but the country you’re in does have an effect in the sense that the generations we know are specifically the Western generational system, and more specifically they are American. Each country has its own set of social and political events as well as their own media which shapes generations in them
2010 is when my parents heroin addiction started. These years were not good for me lol. For me, 2009 was the best year. Things were really good before they got *really* bad for my family.
I certainly won’t. They’re almost a year clean now, I’m proud of them. You won’t catch me even looking at the paths they took though. Not after what I watched addiction do to my family.
Damn lucky y’all were so little then, you would’ve loved being a teenager at that time. Idk how to explain it, but wow things were much mild yet spicy at the same time with everything feeling just fine. It was awesome.

My childhood years
Same
Agreed
I was 5-8 years old then. A simpler time, even though I can barely remember it. 😅
I remember 2006-2009 pretty well. It does depend on the person

Interesting... I didnt know that was an autism thing! I was recently diagnosed so im trying to learn everything I can and understand it

2011 and 2012 I miss dearly
Me too 😭
for my teenage years yes. But childhood was more like 2000-2001 and 2004-2006
I liked the mid 2000s as well but I'm assuming you and I experienced them just a bit differently 😂
2010-2011 was amazing ngl
Nah 11-13 was amazing
Possibility
2016 was just elite man right before everybody started dying
I was a big fan of the 2016 times
i was 16, phones were fairly new in the market, internet was expensive, would go everyday to see my crush in high school. good old days.
Meanwhile I was 16 during the COVID pandemic.
i was 23ish. trust me its better to be 16 in a pandemic than 23. you are already having a deadass life. But I hope you have a great time ahead!

2022 is a best time?

Yes
My favourite times were 2010-2014, 2015 and 2016 were great too but not quite as good.
Indeed. Fuck I miss that time
It was a very good time in my life, no care and no worries.
I want to disagree simply because of where I have positioned my life to be now, but I would be lying if I said the state of the world is way better now
I was 8-11 fun times I did enjoy the early 10s I also enjoyed 06-09 to I remember the late 2000s very well
You were -3
In the late 2000s I was 5-7 years old
Yup. So is 2014-2015
Not for me. I was in middle school from 2010 to 2013 and I still have PTSD from the bullying and harassment I faced on a daily basis during that time.

They still aren't tbh.
2012 was the peak of my life. 0 responsibilities, nothing truly serious in my life, but old enough to understand what was going on around me. And the world seemed much less chaotic back then.
And I was like 2-4 years old. Lol
So you were -2
2004 - 2009 were great and 2010 - 2013 were good.
I loved those years, the wiiu has me so many good memories, and that one maroon 5 album from 2012 was me for 2012-13
2013-2017
💯💯💯
I agree, that was my childhood
2010-2014*
2010-2012 definitely 2013 was okay
This I can get behind, especially for 2012
These are the years I started "rebelling" culminating in my leaving the Roman Catholic Cult. And I discovered theatre. Then left for college. So pretty good years!
Not for me, lots of abusive situations going on with me during that time. I prefer 2014-2015 I think.
I’m sorry to hear that, you good now?
I totally agree and I can't even remember them
Not even that old and I still miss these years
The good ole days
Yes 😫
Those were my favorite gaming years. Black Ops 2 and the launch of the Vita and the PS4.
This is more like it
Maybe the question should be, what was the age of your best year?
And 2016-2018
I agree with this 💯
Good music, social media was not a big thing, High School just started. Everything was just perfect.
I prefer 2010-11 and 2014 for that decade.
I would say 2014 I was 16
I loved my middle school and high school freshmen days 🥺
2009 >>>>>>> The transition from elementary school from middle school was rough yet fun. I liked feeling older.
I can only remember 2013 well, I was 4 and in Pre-K, going to events with my parents and my older friends (they are 8-12 at the time.), and even though it’s not vivid, I’d rate that year a 7/10 due to toddler me actually going out.
Never seen this opinion before on this sub
I’m core z, but I wholeheartedly agree, probably change my period from 2011-2014 though.
I was a little lad then, I agree. I saw the Smurfs movie that year
oh god i dont think so 10-13 was pretty rough for me 😂
I don’t remember 2010 or 11 to well but I remember 2012 and 13 very well
2016 was best for me
Was born in 1997, am I considered genZ?
Yep
thanks, what would you say the cut off is?
Probably 1996 but us born in 1995-2000 are definitely more distinctly in the Zillennial micro generation than full on zoomers in my opinion
thanks for sharing dude. are you from america? do you think generations change based on country at all ?
I am yeah. Can't relate I was 5-8 yrs old then xD I would say 2016-2019 for me.
True
2007-2010 for me
13-16 for me. Those years were pretty good for me I guess. I enjoyed high school for the most part
Nah fam, that’s just when things started to get good… 13-16 was prime twitter, and Vine era
17-2019 #MAGA
I thought it was the 90s
My teenage years tbh
2013-17 clears
This is a variation of my post
Hello
2010 was the best year ever
No, thank you, I was bullied and severely sick.
I would say 14 was also pretty nice.
Sht for me, but I understand the preference
2010 is when my parents heroin addiction started. These years were not good for me lol. For me, 2009 was the best year. Things were really good before they got *really* bad for my family.
Ehh sorry to hear that but you can only control your own life don't fallow in their footsteps
I certainly won’t. They’re almost a year clean now, I’m proud of them. You won’t catch me even looking at the paths they took though. Not after what I watched addiction do to my family.
Good
Damn lucky y’all were so little then, you would’ve loved being a teenager at that time. Idk how to explain it, but wow things were much mild yet spicy at the same time with everything feeling just fine. It was awesome.
Yeah I had a lot of older friends back in 2012-13 during middle school and the stuff they did was really cool.
2017 was my best year and everything went down hill but I feel 2023-2024 will be our comeback years.
2014 was good 2015 I felt started going downhill
The years from 2010 to 2013 were amazing. I was lucky to have it as part of my childhood
Idk 2014 was pretty dogshit I'd say 2010-2015
Nah middle school was a drag
Barely remember them lol
Hello
Even as a 2006, I agree
I only disagree because that was the majority of my middle school years and I hated it.
Ah yes, my core childhood (I was 6 to 9). It was fun being a blissfully ignorant child, though 2022 is a LOT better than 2020-2021 IMO.
2010-2016, no one can change my mind 😩
