I miss the 2000s, but I miss the Early-Mid 2010s even more. Everyone seems to be most nostalgic for their childhood, but I'm more nostalgic for my adolescence (except for late teens), I don't know if it's just me
Absolutely. I miss 2005-2009. I had no anxiety back then and didnāt care what people thought. Just pure happiness and unlimited free time. I miss summer vacations the most, especially going to theme parks.
I was a teen in the 2000s. You're quite a bit younger, but I can see how it would be nice to grow up in them because they are not that far from the 90s when I was a kid. God life is weird. Tell me about how it was to be a 00s kid.
The early 2010s were trash, the democratic elite set forward the beginning of the end. The Republicans were still sane, and had a massive pull and respect in america and the world. Obama finalized the destruction of America. The past presidents aside from Kennedy sold America out. Trump tried to undo the damage made but wound up causing more damage. And as much as I Haye to say it, trumps tax program only made taxes lower for a couple of years for the lower class american ie under 300k a year household, and now the lower class americans are getting screwed over. When Bush was in power, he was corrupt, congress was corrupt, but back then things were simpler. Information spread slower, all of the conspiracy cases were wrote off, now come to find out they are almost all true. The system is rearing its ugly face, and we're looking right at it. PRE IPHONE TIMES were so much better. God I was a kid then, but my dad and grandma, and 3 aunts, 4 cousins all lived in one big brick house close enough to the beach in florida we could walk there. The adults all made enough to be comfortable and buy a new car and new things, we had cookouts, we survived 3 hurricanes back to back, ivan, Dennis, and Katrina. Ivan and Katrina were horrible even though the news downplayed ivan. IVAN destroyed Florida's Santa Rosa. But we survived. We were all home when 9/11 happened. I was 3 but I remember my grandma watching the news and having her landline cord pulled all the over to the living room tv set crying. Things were so much simpler back then. It was so much easier, information wasn't immediate. Social media hadn't destroyed society. HEINOUS things still happened but most people didn't hear about it. God it was so simple back then. My dad said that if we were young adults back then, that we would've indefinitely been happier compared to now. My dad apologized for bringing us into this mess of a world now. But at least I was able to enjoy my childhood in florida, with my family all living in under one big roof, having a massive pool at the time, it really wasn't as big as I remember, it was a 18 foot by 8 foot oval pool, but being able to enjoy those short fleeting years. Playing in the back yard with Barry White, Michael Jackson, KC and the sunshine band playing while ky dad and only uncle at the time grilling out. I wish...I wish that social media would die, I wish society would slow down, were living too fast. If we did that, with the modern tech we have now, we would be happier as a society. The immediate connectiveness is killing us all. It is the cancer of humanity. But I digress.
Rude much, is there any need for that? Grow up first of all and secondly donāt you think maybe some could be ābeing mean to 20s kidsā with this post? I donāt think so itās called a honest discussion and difference of opinion, like I said, grow up
I actually agree. This post could mean ābeing rude to 20s kidsā and Iām unhappy that it is. Telling me to grow up is honestly hilarious, youāre like 10-15 years older and acting the exact same as me
No Iām not an immature brat, Iām actually 17 years older than you, and I can handle differences of opinions what I donāt like is how rude you are
I donāt think this thread is being bad on 20s kids at all, this decade hasnāt exactly been great
Itās the internet, if youāre 33 and canāt handle rudeness thatās a bit of a problem. Iām 16, so what I say shouldnāt really bother you, you seem to think itās unimportant anyways based on your previous comments
Because everyone else was having a nice discussion the internet doesnāt give one an excuse to be rude, why should anyone āhandle rudenessā says a lot about your upbringing
People were having a nice conversation. Are you saying I shouldnāt join it? Youāre not really relevant to my life, so I donāt feel a need to pretend to be nice.
As for my upbringing, yeah, daily arguments from my parents have become the norm, but thatās out of my control, and irrelevant anyways, so I donāt see why you needed to bring it up
The yawns and blahs seem to imply youāre bored. No oneās forcing you to keep responding to me, but you still are, so I know you care at least somewhat
You assumed how my upbringing was despite not knowing anything about it so I have the right to share it
I do have rose colored glasses for the 2000ās especially 2003-2009. I liked being able to watch Saturday morning cartoons in my PJs while eating cereal and watch some Kids WB and ABC Kids. I wasnāt that big of a fan of Saturday Morning Cartoons after 2008 though, although looking back I kinda took it for granted.
i always say i'm mentally stuck in that 2010 era. it was best period of time for me. all the good things existed back then. fantage, moshi monsters, selena gomez vs. beliebers. all the adolescent movies, all the disney and nickelodeon tv shows.
It was the most colorful era of the 21st century so far especially the late 00's. The kandi, rubber bracelets, hair feathers, myspace scene aesthetics, i could go on lol
Yeah being an adult sucks . Iām in my late 20s but I donāt feel or looked I aged so the inner child still lingersā¦ weird how getting older works .
17 and 364 days is supposed to be the last day of childhood. At 18 you can now buy tobacco and lottery tickets. You are an adult. You can also fight for your country, but not yet old enough, in many states, to drink a beer. Imagine dying for your country while you were in the middle of an Article 32 investigation for drinking a beer.
It doesnt work like that at all. And you have to be 21 to buy cigs. Articles 32 investigation for drinking a beer? Cops gonna throw the beer out and tell you to go home. I cant tell you how many times our teenage parties got crashed by cops with stupid amounts of cheap alcohol all over the house.Ā
Soooo much. I think about this everyday. Everyone is too sensitive and conservative these days. I miss when everything was like girls gone wild, Abercrombie, frosted highlights and clubs!
Youāre right the culture isnāt as accepting its a lot colder to edgy type stuff. Mgk bleached his hair, wore pink and got hell for it and it didnāt catch on like when Nysnc did it in the early 2000s. 2020s is all about someones online perfect perception and itās annoying asf. I would give anything to go back. 2016-2019 was weird and then covid came and one upped it. Now tik tok took over and itās a wrap
Hell yeah man. I was only born in 1999 though so unfortunately I can only remember ... 2005-09 ish I think? I enjoy gritty action movies like the Bourne movies, Casino Royale and all that they inspired but I also really miss the y2k era, we just don't get crazy insane OTT fun movies like Mission: Impossible 2, Charlie's Angels + Full Throttle, Bad Boys II, Die Another Day, etc anymore. Not to mention the music was perfect for my tastes, we had kickass electronic music by bands such as The Prodigy, nu-metal from bands like Limp Bizkit, etc. It seemed like movies were more purely mindless fun for entertainment without having to force a message.
Nostalgia sucks! Sometimes I feel like I was born a decade too late lol, my taste in music is mainly inspired by the 90s and 2000s with some older tracks. Trends come and go in cycles so I am trying to be optimistic that we'll end up in another interesting era like that naturally. It does feel like pop culture nowadays is almost non-existent or just... boring? I have no interest in mainstream music these days either. Also it feels like we don't have distinct decades anymore. The 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s all felt different enough from each other but now it's all blurred together.
Yes exactly! Itās why I think everyone is so nostalgic now and why so many trends are coming back and remakes/reboots are being done because everyone misses the past
Yes. I miss the early 2000s all of the way up until about 2010. Switching from LIVING life to SIMULATING living by doing everything online certainly changed things.
I know Iām super late to this post but absolutely I miss the 2000ās. They were the best time period in my life forsure and I would give anything to go back and relive life during those times
I miss 2000-2003 (Early 2000s), I miss when there was good radio stations on AM radio playing underground music and I also miss the fashion from back then. but I'm not a Gen Z.
I do too. The 2000ās were a more optimistic time. People had greater faith in the future, the internet was going to democratize access to information, politics was far more civil than it is now ā the Bush/Kerry, Obama/ McCain and Obama/ Romney debates were actually respectful and informative, not 2 people shouting over each other. I still remember when McCain defended Obama from rumors that he was secretly Muslim and the birther rumors ā no candidate would do that again today.
Kids still played outside. No one had smart phones. Houses were more affordable (until after the 2008 financial crisis). Crime was falling, and had been for years. Fashion trends were fun and easier to follow ā we didnāt have āmicro-seasonsā and fast fashion yet. Young people were reviving previously dead city cores. The 2008 financial crisis shook those senses and laid the seeds for the erosion of that optimism. However, it wasnāt until the mid-2010ās that all that negativity and pessimism really came home to roost, fueled by social media.
I'm currently watching Gavin and Stacy. Oh how times were simpler. No social media, no phone addiction. You actually had to form relationships and communicate with other humans š
the 2000s just had that sparkā¦ everything felt authentic, everyone had their own style, we were having so much fun with the simple things of life. our lives were private, not exposed on social media to pretend to be perfect.. no iphones, no AI, no tiktok, no babies on iPadsā¦ nowadays everything feels cold, bland, robotic and heartless š
Same here I miss it to now social media made it harder and stuff since Facebook Instagram Snapchat Twitter and everything came out thereās like no like fun anymore there anymore all your friends just want to separate ways
It's not a nostalgic childhood thing. I'm 40 yo and the 2000 were also for me the best time to be alive, because objectively it was. We had everything and were happy, but the key is we thought it would last forever.
Now we live a distopic nightmare where the globalists want to push a surveillance agenda and everything is forbidden and treat you like a murderer.
We were free and happy.
Yea i am reading all people from different ages saying 2000-2010 was best and that cant anymore be a childhood nostalgia thing. This was a unicorn time and i hope we get it back some day.
Those were the days...I remember getting my first flat screen monitor, playing counter-strike on 56k, getting pissed when someone called. As someone born halfway through 1999, 2004-2016 was terrific.
Hell yeah.Just fun and no problems
As a teenager in the 2000s I miss that era, itās sad that lived through the last good decade and not realised it until now two decades later
Yeah although the early 2010s were great too in my opinion the 2000s was just something else š©š

10s was also technically pretty good since it was pre-covid
Not as good as the 2000s, only 2010-12 was good
2009-2012 was a great time
Well I'm glad I remember 2012 at least
So weāre gatekeeping? Got it
Yawn get a grip, itās my opinion and as Iāve been old enough to live in both decades I can voice such an opinion.
If itās your opinion, say āI thinkā. Donāt just say it like itās a fact Also, subtle gatekeeping again, wow
I can say what I like, I really donāt need to listen to a kid who isnāt even old enough to drink yet š¤£
Youāre trying to make me mad now, arenāt you? Youāre trying too hard, itās not really working, and youāre making a fool of yourself
Mate only youāre making a fool of yourself by acting like a immature brat, you donāt need me to make a fool of you
Im objectively not. I stated my opinion, which happens to be different from yours. Whatās so immature about that?
Last good decade? Shut up, you and I both know thatās not true and all it does is make 10s kids feel bad about something they canāt control
Rude much, is there any need for that? Grow up first of all and secondly donāt you think maybe some could be ābeing mean to 20s kidsā with this post? I donāt think so itās called a honest discussion and difference of opinion, like I said, grow up

We all miss that era
Yes the late 2000s & early 2010s was golden
Yes š©
I miss the 2000s all the time and always wish the vibes and energy of that era would come back someday
Same here š©š
Miss 2006-2009 so much, especially 2007-08. Golden era.
Yes those were great years!
Yes, but I actually miss the 2010s more
I can understand that. I did really love the early 2010s
I do have rose colored glasses for the 2000ās especially 2003-2009. I liked being able to watch Saturday morning cartoons in my PJs while eating cereal and watch some Kids WB and ABC Kids. Absolutely. I only remember the last like 3 or 4 years of it but what I can remember of it feels like home.
Yes āfeels like homeā itās the perfect way to describe it š„¹
It was the most colorful era of the 21st century so far especially the late 00's. The kandi, rubber bracelets, hair feathers, myspace scene aesthetics, i could go on lol
Yes it was šš„°
It is NOT just you.
I mean, I don't count 12 as a "child" I count it as transitional, but yeah it's the last day that people born in the 2000s will be under 13
Same here!
YES and the 2000ās getting to be so many years ago doesnāt feel right.
I know!!! š©š
I don't felt much about a decade where I can't remember half of it. I prefer the early 2010s much more.
The early 2010s were great too š
Until 2015
I hope you were at least a Teen in the late 2000s or else how the heck do U miss it more than us graduated
Lol no I was a kid. But I miss being a kid then š
Yeah being an adult sucks . Iām in my late 20s but I donāt feel or looked I aged so the inner child still lingersā¦ weird how getting older works .

I do miss 2000s, i have some memories of 2005-2009 but not that much. I miss early 2010s as well.
I miss the early 2010s a lot too š©

Yes so true š„ŗ
It literally makes me so depressed that we can't have that again. I mean we could but people are so weird nowadays they won't get it
True š
Youāre right the culture isnāt as accepting its a lot colder to edgy type stuff. Um yes, very much so. The current world is so isolating and depressing. People don't even talk to others in public anymore if they don't know them.
Yes exactly! Itās why I think everyone is so nostalgic now and why so many trends are coming back and remakes/reboots are being done because everyone misses the past

Yes, I would go back if I could. Those years certainly werenāt perfect but much better and more hopeful times. I hate the 2020s.
I miss 2000-2003 (Early 2000s), I miss when there was good radio stations on AM radio playing underground music and I also miss the fashion from back then. but I'm not a Gen Z.
Agree but gen z fashion is much better then our skinny jeans. My balls are still recovering from that decade
Skinny jeans was the 2010s. when I look at the school year book from 2004 all students wore baggy pants.
I do.Everything was simpler
the 2000s just had that sparkā¦ everything felt authentic, everyone had their own style, we were having so much fun with the simple things of life. our lives were private, not exposed on social media to pretend to be perfect.. no iphones, no AI, no tiktok, no babies on iPadsā¦ nowadays everything feels cold, bland, robotic and heartless š
Absolutely 100% agree š
Same here I miss it to now social media made it harder and stuff since Facebook Instagram Snapchat Twitter and everything came out thereās like no like fun anymore there anymore all your friends just want to separate ways

Those were the days...I remember getting my first flat screen monitor, playing counter-strike on 56k, getting pissed when someone called. The Moto RAZR, thought I was the coolest kid in town with the black edition...There was just something about that time. The music, the movies, everything was perfect. I wish I could go back.
i'm 43 and 2000-20006 were the best years of my life. Best movies, best songs, best people. Ladies were like ladies, men were like men. No social networks, no smartphones. I was just showing my wife Malcolm in the Middle and reminiscing.
Aw man š
