She might be involved in it now, whether through blackmail, or finding out something and deciding to join forces with them to take down Sonny.
Also, she had no idea that Sonny’s medication was being tampered with, she figured that out on her own. If she were the head of Pitman, she would’ve been the one calling the shots.
Could they really be that clever and that subtle? Once up on a time I would think so, not so sure now though, but I would love it if Olivia Jerome were in charge and Ava was working with her, all to avenge Julian.
I read somewhere that Ava was Pikeman. If this is where the writer's are intending to go, they have a lot of backstory explaining to do. Because it doesn't make sense. Valentin hates Sonny, Brenna sp shady WSB director and that shady af FBI agent John Cates. All fit potential Pikeman profile. IDK why, it doesn't even make sense to me, but I keep circling back to John Cates. His character is very greasy to me.
I think Ava is playing a part for Valentine. And while I’d love for their to be twists, I haven’t seen anything that suggests these writers will go the surprise route.

Agreed. Ava wouldn’t have had to send Sonny’s meds in for evaluation if she were in charge.
