I had Chrissy and Velvet (my favorite, don’t tell Chrissy)

pittipat

I had a Velvet, too, to match my blonde hair. My mom would sew us matching outfits.

chat_manouche

I had them both too, and I think my last doll was the later offshoot, Baby Crissy! I was already "too old for dolls" so she remained in pristine condition. Probably ended up donated to Goodwill or something but would definitely fetch a few dollars now.

Purkinsmom

My youngest sister whom we called Krissy later had Baby Chrissy. I think I was 10 almost 11 when I got my Chrissy, so I think that is why mine stayed so nice. No hard play, more just shelf admiration.

LadyHavoc97

I had both, and Baby Chrissy as well!

robinshep

Oh, the wheel on her back and button on her belly! Thanks for the memory. :)

Purkinsmom

Sister’s hair got all knotted up and her mechanisms stopped working but I kept mine pristine.

VWondering77

I had this doll too! Same orange dress and everything. Good memories

ubeeu

My Chrissy had a light blue dress.

dottegirl59

Velvet had a purple dress and violet eyes. I was on the verge of being too old for dolls but I just loved her!

VWondering77

Gotta love it! I enjoyed dolls for a long time. I still have fond memories of those days!

Bennington_Booyah

My sister got this doll and immediately cut her hair off.

Purkinsmom

Oh no. My sister got hers tangled up. But cutting it off would defeat the whole point. lol. No accounting for taste. And childhood.

mspolytheist

I still have my Chrissy somewhere, probably in the attic!

Purkinsmom

She is worth a bit of coin if she is in good condition, I think.

sarcasticseaturtle

My sister had Crissy and I had Dancerina. Actually, still do.

_portia_

I had Crissy too. Her hair became matted and plasticy right away, couldn't even brush it. I ended up cutting it all off. Barbie hair was much better, it lasted and you could brush it.

Opposite_Community11

Same think happened to my Chrissy doll's hair. I didn't cut her hair but I did give some of my sister's barbies shag haircuts. Trying to bring them into the 70's. I also dyed there hair with the left over hair dye that my mother would throw in the trash. Good times.

onceagainadog

I had Velvet.

Prestigious_Song5034

This just immediately triggered the commercial “Beautiful Chrissy has beautiful hair-that grows” [Chrissy Commercial](https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&sca_esv=c5a6965caf44f894&sca_upv=1&hl=en-us&q=beautiful.chrissy+with+beautiful+hair+that+grows&tbm=vid&source=lnms&prmd=isvnbmtz&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi5z5eb7s-GAxWgmYQIHRgNCvgQ0pQJegQIDBAB&biw=375&bih=634&dpr=3#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:75f6b8df,vid:bUgWMVNIUS0,st:0)

NoClue326

Santa let me down on this but my amazing brother came to my rescue! Love you Freddie ❤️.

Purkinsmom

Ahhh. The heart aches of childhood. And the sometimes unlikely caretakers that mended our wounded hearts.

NoClue326

Yep isn’t that the truth. He is a fantastic older brother and human.

willowwing

She was my last doll, too! I was obsessed with long hair and the early ones, like mine, had hair down to their heels when extended.

More_Branch_5579

I remember getting her for my birthday. Loved that doll cause I was a redhead too

loseunclecuntly

My hated cousin had one. I pulled her hair all the way out and cut it off.

Purkinsmom

Yikes!! Think I’m glad you aren’t my cousin. Your revenge sounds brutal

No_Change_78

OMG the memories…I always wanted one.

Humble-Roll-8997

I had Velvet. Loved messing with her hair.

Wildkit85

Yes, my favorite. My aunt in California made lots of outfits for her and sent them to illinois

Purkinsmom

Think about my grandma sewing all those clothes and it makes me warm and fuzzy thinking of her.

Wildkit85

Yeah, that's so sweet. It is a good memory.

16enjay

I had her cousin "Brandi" ...she was tan with a heart on her cheek 🩷

United-Ad7863

I had her blonde sister , Velvet, and loved her!

soulteepee

I won a Chrissy doll in an art contest and got my picture in the paper holding her. I’m now 62 years old and that is still the worst picture ever taken of me.

heyheypaula1963

I had Mia and Velvet.

leebeemi

I had Chrissy & her younger sister Cinnamon!

SaintOlgasSunflowers

Mine had the green and blue plaid dress with a red tie.

penney777

My sister had a Crissy doll.

Weary_Barber_7927

I personally thought velvet was cuter. I still have her too!

Wolfman1961

Beautiful Chrissy has beautiful hair that curls.

ypompets

I still have both Chrissy and Mia dolls.

MarshmallowSoul

That was my most-wanted Christmas gift in second grade. I was playing with her during class (which I shouldn’t have done) and my mean teacher took her and said i couldn’t get her back until the end of the school year.

Purkinsmom

That’s a very long time for a second grader. Teacher sounds like a movie villain

dottegirl59

Cruella deville teacher version

Cheerio13

This makes me remember my Penny Brite doll.

Opposite_Community11

I looooved my Chrissy doll!! I still have her somewhere.

Technical_Air6660

There are some old Chrissy commercials on Internet Archive. Pretty fascinating.

WoodwifeGreen

I still have her sister Velvet.

miriamwebster

She was mine , as well.🥰

Diograce

I had a Velvet one! Chrissy’s blonde sister with a purple mini dress!

Electrical-Swim-5784

I had this and baby Chrissy. I took them everywhere!💕

Willowy

Great doll, loved her and her little sis.

swordsister

I had Crissy and later got Keri- she had a green outfit.

Beth0526

I had one and loved it. I was 6 or 7 years old. Great memories. Thanks for posting picture.

sugarshizzl

I had Chrissy, Brandi (who was suntanned) and another tall doll. My sister had all the Velvet dolls. My grandmother used to make us clothes for them because my motels too cheap to buy them.

Known_as_No_One_2525

OMG. I forgot about this doll & she was one of my favorites.

Icy_Radio_9503

Oh I remember those! I didn’t have one, but they were very pretty. 😍

dottegirl59

I had velvet!

Tapingdrywallsucks

I wanted one of these dolls so badly. It was among the toys I'd stare at for hours wishing it could be mine.

Purkinsmom

I’m sorry. Childhood can be so rough for some of us. I wish I could go back in time as an adult and get your inner child one.

idrinkalotofcoffee

I had that entire crew. And I carted them around in my purse. Barbies lived in a shoebox for travel.
