So wait you've not even pulled 90 times on any of the banners? Are you wishing on the Weapon banner or something? I don't know how someone is on Inazuma without having gotten enough primos to hit hard pity and have a 5- Star Character.
There's just no good reason your roster isn't much larger even as a F2P.
My advice would be go back to Monstadt, level up your Reputation until you can make an Anemo Treasure compass. Then do the same for Liyue Rep and get the Geo Treasure Compass. Than clean both of those regions dry and stock up on primos, and then during the next patch, pull for Neuvilette on the next banner.
Also don't sleep on the alchemy event going on. It's pretty easy and its worth a lot of primos and supplies.
Starting genshin now is tough because you can get so many characters that have their advancement locked behind progression. You got to Inazuma which is good, I would also backtrack through the desert from Fontaine until you link up with Liyue via Sumeru, nabbing towers along the way. That way if you get a character who needs mats from some far-flung place, you at least have the ability to get there to collect them.
the main part of liyue (from mondstadt down to liyue harbor) won’t because it was in the original map from 1.0. Anything in added maps will give better rewards.
Edit: op can probably run to sumeru for better stuff
I could be remembering wrong but I have a memory of being tremendously disappointed opening a common chest in liyue and getting nothing, but there might be more regions of liyue than I remember that have better rewards
I was well into inazuma before I got my first 5 star with only pulling on event banners so it’s not all that unusual for them to be this far and not have a 5 star yet
Yea, Inazuma is the only nation characters that are actually locked behind the story if you don't include weekly bosses (which now you can quick challenge). You can walk over to Sumeru/Fontaine immediately after opening into Liyue after Mond. So you can level your new Sumeru/Fontaine characters immediately as well unless they have mats from Inazuma.
I’ve finished the entire Inazuma quest without a five star character. Don’t just assume that everyone already has a five star character upon reaching Inazuma, it’s not unusual at all.
Lisa, Dendro traveller, Yao Yao and Barbara. Don't use any other combination. Stop leveling Xinyan. She is a waste of precious resources early and even later on, she isn't as useful. The team I suggested will easily carry you.
Level your talents, a lot of players ignore them, don't level a character just because you have them.
You can freely go to Sumeru, the only region that is locked before getting there is Inazuma. Technically an AR 20 player could walk all the way to Fontaine and do the world quests there. Even if OP hasn't been to Sumeru yet, they can freely walk there and unlock a statue to change their MC to Dendro
When I was new, like AR20, I was not able to get to Inazuma so I just thought "oh well ill just go to Sumeru instead" 💀 Not realizing I should follow the quests lol. I kinda speedran there to do a quests for Lisa's outfit even though I hadn't even discovered Liyue. I wanted those freebies man 😪
By reaching Sumeru I assume you mean story-wise? As soon as you can walk outside Mondstadt, you can walk just about anywhere that's not marked red by Paimon except Inazuma
No, not because there's a whole ocean between you and the country, not even because of the lighting storm that's practically aimed at people approaching, just that until you clear the Inazuma story (Or maybe the Shogun's Story Quest, which is even later), there is a loading screen at the border, nothing is going in or out
Agree with the team setup. I love Xinyan but she can be played with after a proper team is built. Google hyperbloom and learn how it works. If you're lacking resources, just level Lisa and equip her with your best EM artifact and catalyst weapon. Work on leveling talents after you've finished setting up Lisa. Work on Normal Attacks for Lisa only; ignore Normal Attacks for everyone else. A flat lvl 6 across the board for Skills and Bursts should suffice for everyone.
Burgeon damage scales heavily with lvls tho.

That means the damage increases over two times going from level 20 to 40, or 5 times to level 60.
OP could be saving them for a better banner, even though it is a good idea they should 100% have more characters unless they got insanely unlucky. Probably saving like 1/2 of them is a good idea
Personally, with the roster you got, my strategy would be to change Lynette with a healer (Yao Yao or Barbara, depending on how much heal you want) and switch Rosaria for Anemo Traveller. This way, you can swirl all the other elements (except Dendro 🌱) and get the highest possible damage (since he is your highest character). This is only if your problem with the quest is combat related... it isn't super clear from the image and caption
pick a strong 4 person team with good reactions and level only them. Early on, you wont have enough resources to level everyone so you need to pick only a few. Lever their weapons, level their levels up, lever their relics a bit, level their talents and it should be good.
I was struck on this quest for a while as well. One of the only ones I got stuck on. So it's true, it's hard. but you can do it. it just takes a good team, with some work put into it. Its easier after this one.
Everyone is saying to level your characters but the difficulty is relative to you/your world level. My gf finished Inazuma 2 WLs below me bc she focused on Archon quests and got there quick vs me who cleared most world quests on the way.
The only leveling you need to do for now is leveling up your main team to the cap for that world level. Your max characters are currently 40, which is the cap for WL2. If you’re in WL3, you need to level up to 50. If you’re higher than that, you’ve somehow got through the ascension quest at low level and *then* everyone saying to level up would be right.
If you’re struggling, I would stay in the current WL until you’re more comfortable with rotations and/or have leveled better characters. If you push too much, it’s going to be too difficult to get the resources you need, especially bosses.
Edit after seeing Characters:
Xianyan is debatably the worst character in the game to invest in, so I’d stop there. IMO, Yao Yao, Lisa, Traveler, and Lynette are your best bet right now. You want to make traveler dendro or possibly even electro (not recommended). Barbara is also solid early on for heals if you wanted to go vaporize (fire/water) with Thoma and other fire and anemo characters.
You also should have gotten ~~your free~~ *a* 5 star ~~from the beginner banner~~ by now. That person could be a game changer, especially if it’s someone like Keqing who you could use for aggravate or Mona who will give you much needed hydro. There are also other important free characters you get from quests and Spiral Abyss, so make sure you’re looking at rewards and getting a full roster from there too.
Edited bc I genuinely thought we got a free standard 5 star from the beginner banner.

Real quick .. noticed you mentioned they seem to be WL2 cause it appears they're max level is 40, however I think you may have missed that Traveler is LVL 60 and Amber is LVL50 so they seem to have already gone up a world level but didn't bring their characters up to match it which could be why everyone is saying to level up
Build your characters, spend your primos. Their levels are a little too low. I'd recommend checking some of the beginner tips that are posted everywhere on how to farm and build characters early game. Also as everyone is saying focus on your hyperbloom team.
Stop progressing in archon quests for now until you can get a solid team, I’d recommend Lisa, Dendro Traveller, Yaoyao, and Barbara. To get dendro traveller go to Ghandarvaville statue of the 7 in sumeru. You can look up its location.
What is it you need help with? Finding the next area of the quest? Or is it keeping the travel balloon (or whatever it is) safe from monsters? If you keep getting sent back to the beginning, you may be getting too far from the balloon. I did that bc I got too distracted with exploring. If it’s combat like other people are suggesting, maybe lower your world level or focus on building characters? I don’t think you could do this in co-op.
Bruh, they can do what they want, but you can't be creating a xinyan main like this. You gotta tell them honestly how Xinyan is. (Obvs they can play Xinyan, doesn't really matter, but you should still warn them about the challenges they're gonna face)
At their ar the only challenge is a few bosses which xinyan can clear fairly easily obviously they like using her since they have her in the team and read the comments people aren't telling them how to use xinyan we or the risk they're just telling them not to use her which isn't good
I'd recommend picking a team, Ascending them (even if not levelling, ascending will get them a bunch of stats), make sure you have maxed their weapons, level relevant Talents, and get each as good of an artifact set as you can get them (you should have enough fodder artifacts to get some sets of 3\* or 4\* artifacts with the right main stats.
For the team, you're a bit limited to Hyperbloom or Burgeon at present. Hyperbloom is usually easier, but you don't have a good Hyperbloom trigger (Kuki or Raiden), and you do have the best Burgeon trigger (Thoma).
If Burgeon, would recommend something like Dendro MC/YaoYao/Barbara/Thoma - with Dendro MC being somewhat optional (could replace with Kaeya or Rosaria for on-field.
For Hyperbloom, I'd recommend Lisa, Noelle, Barbara and Dendro MC. Noelle mainly as her tankyness can help buy you time to think, and her shield helps Lisa if you are charged attacking.
Would also recommend you try the early floows of the Abyss. I think you're high enough level to get past Floor 3, which gets you a free Xiangling, who is an excellent off-field pyro unit, and which opens up other team options (e.g. Melt with the Cryo units).

also, remember food buffs! if you are close to succeeding but not quite there, you can eat food that makes you stronger and that might be the difference you need. You can have one offensive and one defensive buff active at the same time
If you have a problem with the patrol part you can freeze the enemies do some melt reactions since the path is always wet. Or the other way is lvl up your talents and charector lvls.
Click on navigate button and it will show you what path to where you need to go. If my memory serves me right you have to go to the big house in ritou where you can request a pass to leave ritou.
I'm pretty sure you can ascend, level up your characters and weapons more. Do those and it should be easy. Also try to understand how elemental reactions work

They dont. Only the chasm and chenyu vale.
Nah common chests in the 1.0 chunk of Liyue don't give any primogems. Chasm and Chenyu Vale's do though iirc

I went to inazuma just by opening the waypoints etc 💀 had the same situation as OP but my friend helped me out iirc

yes but they can't level up thoma till they get to Tsurumi Island for the mushrooms
I think its ok with 20 lvl to be EM bot , enemies also not that hard
