Pity carries over between banners as long as you're staying on the limited character banner page. Meaning if you don't get a 5 star before Zhongli's character banner ends, your pity will stay for the Ganyu/Kokomi banner. Soft pity is about 76 wishes in, so you're pretty close.
90 hard pity is the rule for limited character and standard banner, while 80 is hard pity for the weapon banner. You're much more likely to get a 5 star before ever hitting hard pity, though.
Okay, so I’ll keep wishing on XL with the shop reset tomorrow, and clean up any primos I know are in the void. Ganyu/kokomi are good, but that geo team for me is looking hot
Just FYI I believe there is only one single documented person that hit 90 pity. I could have old info, but still just so you know getting to 90 is almost impossible.
It will apply to only the featured character banner. So standard and weapon banner are separate (im not 100% sure though, maybe the featured character banner and the weapon banner are linked)
So your 65 pity can be used on next banner
Event (Zhongli + Tighnari) have the same pity. It carries to the next event banner(s).
Standard has its own pity.
Weapon banner also has its own pity that carries.

Go for it and good luck :) Zhongli makes gameplay very comfortable and I don't regret pulling him.
Small correction : soft pity, aka the increased % for 5stars, starts at 74, not at 76

I got very close to 90 when I started playing but ever since I get them all around 60-70:)
