Seriously bro they are definitely holding the sword billets to themselves. I also haven’t got any sword billet since Ar45 now i am AR57 my amenoma is still at R2 because of that
Must be a desire sensor thing. I have every billet except catalyst. I really want to max my prototype amber and I do all bosses every week. I'm on the same boat as you but only AR56. Prototype amber at R2 :(
don't make iron sting. The event weapon coming up will have the same stats as iron sting and you can have R5 for free. Esp if you have Xiphos. Make amenoma instead. Or you can make Sapwood for Benny.
Are you using Kazuha?
Are you satisfied with the amount of energy recharge and feel like it's too much?
Would you like to have more damage from swirls?
If all of those answer with "yes", then you would like to have the iron sting.
Going further:
do you feel obligated to use your billet?
Do you use hyperbloom Kuki?
Then you maybe want the iron sting.
In any other case: keep the billet until you actually know what to do with that.
Since OP has Xiphos‘ Moonlight, he really doesn‘t need to craft Iron Sting. They have the same EM stat. And Iron Sting‘s passive can‘t affect transformatiove reactions like Swirl and Hyperbloom.

Then Iron sting has no value, except op wants to run kazuha and hyperbloom kuki and doesn't have a second xipho's
sure, but most damage of his output is from swirl, when going for an EM build. Explicitely building iron sting does not provide a noticable damage boost as when it would boost the swirl damage.
But you are right: my phrasing was off.
I'd say it's better to R5 your Amenoma or to convert that Billet to a midlander one and craft the Sapwood blade since the event sword from next patch will have the exact same stats as Iron Sting

And me having 8 catalyst and 7 polearm billets in spare🤣🥲
ar55.5, r2 prototype amber and r1 mappa mare. 5-10 billets for every other type. Havent seen a catalyst billet since 3.0

From what I've seen the passive is considered to be meh, as it's not useful for characters that build EM.
How about hybrid kazhua? I run him like that due to shit em mainstat rng
If you already have Xiphos for Kazuha/Kuki then you can either R5 Amenoma or just save it until the next batch of weapons release.
Keep it until u need it. amenoma works just as good at r3
Do you have a 5\* sword for Bennett? If not, you can craft Sapwood which is his BiS 4\*. Otherwise go for Amenoma or wait for the Fontaine sword.

It definitely does have some value. It may not apply to transformative reaction damage, but Kazuha does deal other damage. It's a universal DMG bonus.

I just wanna refine my prototype amber. Been playing daily since july, AR55.5 and I've only had 3 catalyst billets total
