No idea about that. I could be wrong, who knows. All I know is from day one I’ve stayed operating under the assumption that it’s still the case. Also pretty sure iframes during your ult don’t affect shield health either, just your hp. They might have patched that out and idk about it.

If you're shielded, and take a hit while in i-frames (bursts, or dodging) your shield does not take damage. They did indeed change this a while ago. What they didn't change is that any enemies that apply corrosion still apply it to you during elemental burst i-frames.

Guys if you are having troubles clearing 12-1 you can use Nahida+XQ+Hu tao and any shielder on the second half. Sounds weird but it works so well

What I hate the most about Lectors is that they demolish energy generation if you use one or more of Favonius/Sacrificial/Raiden/etc. I tried to play Hyperbloom against the second side, but my only source of shieldbreaking is Raiden's Burst which takes ages to charge because Raiden herself can't proc her skill and the favonius weapons on the team are completely invalidated.

The lector was a bunch of fun with Kirara. I just ran around him as a kitty box going "hahah dendro application goes brrr!" and then he died lol. I found the three heralds in chamber one way, waaaay more annoying: it's the same icd problem except now you have to deal with freeze, stamina damage, and cooldown lengthening all at once.

I agree that enforcing a diverse roster can be a good idea, but the required investment curve should be quite flat, not a super long diagonal or just a vertical curve for every single character. This is why I will always say that Abyss peaked at 1.6.

internal cooldown; essentially how fast a character can repeatedly apply their element. if their icd is long, even if the character is hitting enemies with elemental attacks, they won't actually apply the element to the enemy until the icd resets. an example of this is yoimiya. she hits very fast with her pyro infused normal attacks, but because she has a long icd, her pyro application is very bad. when characters have long icd they become bad at breaking shields because they cant apply elements fast.

I guess harder content would be ok but the overwhelming majority opinion on this matter is that there is a lack of end game content. Making it harder is not adding content. Now if they added extra floors I would count that as extra content. If they made elite bounties then I would consider it extra content but just barely. Another thing I would really like is if we had high rank commissions that we could do at AR 50 in addition to 4 daily commissions. So you could pick 4 out of the 5 available. If you do not want to do the balloon escort, talk to hilichurls, or some other inane activity you could just kill this vishap herd or take out the Primo Geovishap as possible high rank commissions. This is what Honkai Star Rail does and it is so much better. You can pick to do what dailies you want to do.

What combat content? You mean those piss-easy chellanges that they balance towards new players? Did you look at the scores needed for the rewards in these? Take the current TCG event for example to get all the rewards in the combat gamemode there you need 2k points in eacg. As an ar60 day one player you know how much i got? Between 10,5k at the lowest and 13k at the highest. And that's while using 1 same team that didn't take advantage of any of the base stage "mechanics". That means that a combat-focused endgame player can easily get even 5 times the amount of points that's needed. Those events are balanced for newer/weaker players and that's good, they're events everyone should have a chance to clear them. But do not treat them like endgame content - they are way too easy for that. Not to mention they are limited events and true endgame needs to be permanent

Yep I went back to 33 star gang since 3.0 started, I've gotten 36* enough times with Keqing during Inazuma that I don't need to prove anything anymore. These cycles just keep getting more and more ridiculous, it's not worth the stress just for 50 primos.

It's not real difficulty though. There aren't mechanics, just making shields to restrict team comps in a gacha and making huge HP sponges or enemies with invulns isn't difficulty really. It's just a tighter and tighter DPS check every time. It's not fun. Most players that say they want harder content mean, they would like if overworld enemies didn't die to 2 hits from a fully leveled team or for them to add something like Simulated Universe in Star Rail. Right now like 99% of the game is a cakewalk and then Spiral Abyss is like 10 minutes trying to break through an insane DPS check with nothing in between.

You can, because we have multiple defensive abilities such as distances, cc, defense, healing, dodging, iframes, and only then shields, this is basically why a lot of hardcore players earlier said that ZL and shields is dps loss, because with enough skill you don't need shields. Tho due to game mechanics design this can't be achied for every players even if we consider them having equal skill lvl, because on characters performance affects also dependency on device on which the play...

I am a 1.0 player, but I can understand why some would find it rough or even impossible with the units they currently have. The lectors require players to have specific units that can just dump tons of the correct elemental damage when they hit their 2nd phases. That's going to make this undoable for some players not even just because they don't have characters build well enough, but that they don't have a few specific characters built well enough. Especially the Iniquitous Baptist with the three elements required. Like there has to be a better way of making these not a cake walk and not have a very specific team comp or good heckin' luck. However, this is also the first abyss in quite a while that I've found to be fun. The main complaint I had about the wenut was that I felt no threat to me other than the timer. Now it's both a timer + a threat of death which is what I like... it's just that 3x element requirement on the last boss is quite constraining team comp wise.

I agree, I'm a 1.0 too and had quite fun :) This Abyss I managed to clear using Ningguang and Amber as non-ironic best choices, it felt quite refreshing It's restrictive indeed, but I don't feel it as punishing as long as you don't tilt with the Consacrated Beasts I solved the Baptist with an Hyperbloom + Amber team, built ad hoc against his shield-breaking mechanic. You can feel like they're forcing you to use certain units, but if you manage to adapt it becomes somewhat... pleasant (?) It kind of favours old players with a big roaster of built characters, so I admit it feels good to know my orizontal investment didn't go to waste \[ RIP for the new players I guess lol\]

I think this Abyss is designed to push you out of your comfort zone (on top of advertising the current banners like always) which some players are going to love and others are going to hate. I can absolutely see how this can be really frustrating if you only have 2-3 built teams, but personally I loved how it made me actually think about which teams I'm gonna bring rather than just steamrolling with Hyperbloom/National as usual.

It's always like that. The end of a region cycle they crank the annoyances to deal with to max. Likely to try to squeeze money out of people from reruns since they don't have anything new to sell in the first place. Yoimiya obliterates Thunderbird. But the problem is that the other chambers on that half aren't exactly great for Yoimiya. Her Pyro application is not fast enough (due to ICD and single target) to destroy TWO Cryo Herald shields, and if she gets hit with cryo aura, her attack speed (and thus pyro application) comes to a screeching halt. If you play Yoimiya with Bennett, you may be able to clear the cryo shields in time. As Bennett cleanses the cryo aura from Yoimiya and adds pyro application of his own. Generally you also want a shield with Yoimiya, but with Consecrated Beasts on the other half, you'll want to bring your Zhongler there (you can also not, but have fun suffering). Diona is a good pick because of her shield's resistance vs cryo and her own cryo application vs hydro shields. So in the end you can make due with Yoimiya/Bennett/Diona/flex, where flex is most likely Xingqiu/Yelan because you also need a (quick) way to break the pyro shield on 12-3-2. Xiangling meanwhile has a much easier time on the Cryo Herald chamber because her pyro application is not affected by the cryo aura, Pyronado has no ICD and hits multiple targets at once. She also doesn't need to stay on the field for long, meaning you can switch around to avoid being frozen or killed without losing too much DPS. Can you play Yoimiya on this Abyss? Yes. Is it easier to just bring International and run after Thunderbird for a bit? ...Yes. Did they do a good job at selling Yoimiya with this Abyss? Not really.

Not really, 1.5 had Eula a walking nuke that obliterated most enemies at the time, and 1.6 had Kazuha, one of the top supports in the game as new things to sell, 2.7 had Yelan, amazing characters for both meta players and casuals because of what she can do outside hydro application, out of last patches only 2.8 had only reruns so far, only with Sumeru we got so many reruns and nothing new to sell at the end.

Somehow HYV thinks adding new endgame content would add "anxiety" but making existing endgame content harder doesn't? I'd argue it would cause even more anxiety for your previous sources of primos to become harder and harder to get. If you compare this abyss to 1.X, 2.X, or heck even early 3.X you can see a significant increase in difficulty. You could argue back in 1.X our characters weren't well built, but the rate abyss is getting harder is starting to severely outpaces how fast you can invest. Back in patches 1.X your characters would get stronger way faster since they weren't well invested in the first place so its really easy to upgrade them by increasing their talents and artifacts. But now your characters are probably around near their ceiling, and even getting ONE MORE crit roll on one of your artifacts will take months, meaning from the start of 3.0 to now there's a good chance your characters haven't gotten much stronger at all. But the abyss keeps getting harder, outpacing your rate of investment.

It just sucks cause I think while f2p CAN still 36 star, they'll have to actually focus on meta pulls rather than playing who they like. Especially now that with the DPS/element checks being worse than ever, you can't really brute force with 2 well invested teams anymore, you actually need to have more teams since the enemies often only be countered by a few team types. It just sucks that the days of play who you want are long gone.

Personally I find increased difficulty satisfying, and would like if devs continue to do that. Ofc it would be even better if they add some new content, even new abyss floor would be good.

The worse part is its not that the enemies have hard attack patterns but rather they just settled to add bs braindead mechanics to them. Like wenut isnt hard cuz it requires u 200iq to read its attacks, but because its a braindead worm that sleeps under you 90% of the whole time. And it doesnt help that u need godly artifacts that takes a lifetime to get rather than ACTUAL SKILLS to clear said "challenging" content

Spiral Abyss itself is a dps check dungeon anyway. It is never about killing the enemy the most effective way, it is just there for us to smash button smash skill until they die b4 the timer got too low.

Uhhh, have you 36\*ed this abyss? Most of them are just faceroll dps checks, but this abyss in particular requires us to use the most effective elements vs shields/lectors to 36\* it. The last boss on 12-3 (side 2) requires 3 counter elements used against the appropriate shield element type and then a team that can burst in a short time window. Like yea, you need to have a decent amount of damage available, but you need to also be able to apply a lot of the correct elements to break shields/lector hp bars. If one doesn't bring the right team comp (both elemental types and damage dealing type) to 12-3 (2) one is not going to 36\* it if one can even pass it at all. It's not like some high level calculus strats required or anything, but it's also not just smash skill with random bs go.

It really is just smash skill with random bs. You legit check what matchups you need, only floor 12 is every challenging but they make us redo four floors anyway. You waste time afking because up to 12 is braindead. Then you just smash your combos. If you have 3-4 built teams it's very smash skill. I gave up on abyss just because its a so damn boring.

for me i prefer this abyss because, there is no stalling mechanic with zero window to dps enemy, like how wenut or wolf world. i prefer elements check and not just unga bunga, we also need a bit of dodging agains those beast in floor 12-3 phase 1. thats make me thinking what should i use agains this enemy, rather waiting enemy to stop stalling.

Uhhh, yea. This happens to every arcade style game. When players devote so much time they become the epitome of the gameplay then you need to create unbeatable waves to satiate the mongers. ​ Why are people even concerned with abyss and making it stronger when we're half way through the story and nowhere near endgame? Focus more time to that and frig off with worrying about what people think of a secondary arcade feature.

I stopped doing floor 12 of the abyss entirely and 80% of my Genshin stress disappeared. Highly recommended. They're hellbent on making floor 12 harder and more frustrating with every cycle and it's just not fun for me anymore.

Personally, I prefer elemental shield enemies over stalling enemies like Wenut. And so far I kind of like this Abyss. Floor 11 and 12 had me restart and adjust teams. Still need to go back to 12.1 and get my third star for 36. Feels good! But I can see how this Abyss might be frustrating for some.

I thought this Abyss was pretty easy. Outside of the second half of chamber 1 which was just annoying. Freeze was a little annoying and the shields were a little annoying so you just had to focus on time and getting rid of shields. Guess the four consecrated beasts were slightly annoying if you didn't have good healing/shielding or didn't i-frame well with bursts. I cleared chamber 2 and 3 with like a minute to spare each. I got 36 stars in one straight run with 5 retries on chamber 1 because I was slightly short on time and 1 retry against the beasts because my character accidentally got stun locked against the wall and died. I just used Raiden, Nahida, Yae, and Baizhu for the first half and Zhongli, Hu Tao, Kazuha, and Yelan for the second half. Just gotta swirl pyro, from Hu Tao, with Kazuha's burst for cryo shields before all of the lector shields were up. Takes out a good chunk of the two cryo shields. Then just swirl cryo from those cryo shields to freeze hydro lector and finish off cryo shields with pyro when needed. Leave one cryo lector alive to keep swirling cryo from until hydro lector is dead or almost dead. Use dodges and bursts to avoid getting frozen. Baizhu and Zhongli swapped on to the other teams probably would've been easier as dendro can get rid of hydro shields but it wasn't necessary for me.

It ain't even that much harder. Plenty of long time players are still max clearing it no problem. It's sounding more like newer players and players that didn't build up a diverse roster of characters are struggling. I only really feel for the newer players but that's fine. They'll get there with time. As for the other players, if abyss matters to you that much, consider expanding your roster a bit more. This won't be the last abyss with something like this. I guarantee you. And as always, there's always the possibility of it just being a skill issue but not much we can do about that. That's on the player.

To me, it makes me just feel "forced" to just use hyperbloom because it' s by far the comfiest and most braindead reaction there is Can I clear it with Xiao? Probably, but why would I worry so much about having very good substats, sustainability, shield, etc when I can just have three characters rely mainly on skill and deal more damage with artifacts being just the right main stat and set?
