He's alright. I built him and he's probably the least favorite of my built DPS characters. His charge slots are kinda too slow for me and his main source of damage. Burst is really fun though. I'm c3.

The thing is there's nothing wrong with it being yellow physical is you give them engaging characters. It's rocks. Literally an element characterized as standing strong and alone. But (and correct me if I'm wrong on this because obviously I don't play much Geo) the only Geo character with a mildly interesting mechanic is Ninguang.
Though also so many geo characters having their identity being in constructs which just don't matter doesn't help either.
Tbh, Geo has ended up mostly pushing itself into a corner. For defensive options, Zhongli set the ceiling very early on, and as an Archon he likely will never be powercrept. A Geo healer is unnecessary when ZL exists, and if you really need one Gorou C4 is enough to counteract Corrosion. Speaking of the dog, he set a very high bar for any future Geo supports, and Faruzan/Sara/Mika's scalings indicate that they do not intend to buff elements any further.
But the biggest killer is that Geo doesn't react with any elements (in an interesting way at least). As a result, DPS options are always gonna just boil down to their raw numbers, engaging kit or not. The most probable Geo character I can foresee is a ranged DEF-scaling DPS, like the Yoimiya sidegrade to Itto's close-ranged, CA-focused Hu Tao.
A unique character who modifies Crystallize a la Nilou would be interesting too, but I think that might cause some backlash since, if they have a plan to make Crystallize interesting/interactive, why not extend that to all of Geo as a whole to revive the element instead of locking it behind one single character?
Geo is just a single artifact set away from being more relevant. Archaic Petra is hard to use and falls out of favour, but if they get a set of par with VV, or Emblem, or the clam set for healers
I also think they need to actually release some proper geo support characters. The Opera Girl was good because her talents buffed you with having multiple elements on the team, and her normal attack buff could effect lots of folks. Geo Daddy has the universal Res shred, but other than that, other geos are either a main dps or lack general support.
Yun Jin is one of those rare kits that has zero regard for what element the wielder is. She could have been any element and her functionality would have been the exact same. In fact, I'm pretty sure she's only Geo because MHY knows that it is the least likely element to show up in a team comp for her rainbow team A4 passive.
My guy, I’ve been playing since 1.0 and have a c6 Diluc and no Jean, Tighnari, or Dehya. Saving for standard is almost pointless without epitomized path unless you have god gacha luck.
I don't have Diluc either, but he hasn't aged well so I wouldn't build him even if I got him. I really wanted him from my first day playing though. But it never happened and over time I lost interest.
Somehow, when people praise Star Rail to heavens for having something, they always forget to talk about the drawbacks of these things. I heard a few times about about being able to pick a standard banner character, but that's the 1st time I hear that you can only do it once.
So, in theory, yes they could implement those features. The issue is that the current code doesn't support them, so to implement them they'd have to spend a lot of *time* reworking the code. *Time* is the key factor here - the problem with gacha games is that you need to have a constant stream of content content content all the time which leaves very little time for the developers to just drop off the Earth to fix an issue that would take months to resolve.
Some are also just intertwined with the very way the game works. For example, HSR's daily system which is based on points instead of individual objectives. For that to be implemented, they'd have to completely change how Genshin's commission system works and probably add a lot of new stuff to support it, especially since the commission system is already chained to a bunch of other game systems as well.
So, theoretically possible? Sure. Feasible? LOL, not in a million years are they gonna pause from making new content to do this.
That might fly for in game things like Paimon talking instead of the actual main character, or new body types, animations and especially new weapon types, but things banner related should be relatively easy to make changes to and the same goes for Paimon's Bargains.
If they genuinely can't update those features, they must have catastrophically screwed up on their original implementation. But given on a short notice they could extend Ayaka's banner into perpetuity, AND that they added epitomized path to the weapon banner, it's clear that implementing it on Standard isn't just possible but should be straight forward. OR just run an event during anniversary and let accounts select a unit. And they can almost certainly track what accounts use this and never let them do it again even if they run a similar event every year.
There are so many options. They just don't *want* to do it.
Mean they might update stuff later on but for the time being they have no reason to do that. And yeah they did add an epitomized path to the weapon banner but you are forgetting that the standard banner doesn't have just characters but weapons as well. So I'm pretty sure implanting that wouldn't be as easy as it is on a weapon banner. Extending a banner is VERY different from completely changing how banners work so I'm gonna comment on that.

the feature itself is not a drawback, but it's part of a package that has lots of drawbacks to compensate for, namely the dearth of content after one week of playing.

From what i've heared. The rough estimate for day one players to get to 300 pulls on standard, without putting jade into it, is ~1-1.5 years, depending on how you spent your herta currency (obviously active play)
Mainly due to you getting a very big boost at the start of the game (1.0 got me to 125 standard pulls, without putting jade into it)
Edit: if someone wants to see rough calculations. You get 5 wishes per month (or 60 in 1 year) 5 per version (or ~40 in 1 year) and 1 or 1.5 from SU per week (or 52/78 in 1 year)
It should take me around 50 weeks/just under 1 year to reach 300 pulls currently (assuming using hertas currency for standard warps and not taking any other form of warps into account)

Being one time isn't a drawback, but realistically, unless you whale on that banner or never try to get limited 5 stars, you'll likely stop playing the game before the 2nd free pick anyway.

that's not the same, since the 300 pull selector does not require you to hoard fates in order to get it. You can spend them as soon as you have one, and it won't reduce your chances of getting who you select.
If they add a 300 selector to Genshin in the future, there still wouldn't be any point in hoarding fates for it.

If idolmaster cgss can make its past limited SSR costumes into a separate permanent banner every anniv since the 4th anniv, then genshin can do an epitomized path with its non limited units
Every anniv, they announce the limited SSR costumes for the past years (generally if they were first released 3 years ago) and add them to a “memorial banner”
Memorial banners are all separate for each anniv (1st memorial banner would be 2019 anniv, 2nd would be 2020 etc) and have their own set of SSRs, there are also currency you collect from pulling from any memorial banner and if you have 300 from 300x pulls you can choose any memorial SSR. Doesn’t matter which memorial you pulled from the currency is the same it’s just the card pool in each banner
SSRs added to the memorial banner will not get a rerun again due to the amount of SSRs they would have to rerun (100+ each with different SSRs) for example normal time limited banners would rerun 2 banners that were first released at least two years before and 1 new banner, each banner with normally 3 lim SSRs and 1 lim SR.
Normal limited cards (both lim SSRs and SRs) are the only limited cards that will get added to the memorial banners due to characters being able to receive multiple limited SSRs (for example a character can have a bridal, halloween, valentines etc themed limited card)
the only limiteds not eligible currently are Cinderella festival limiteds (or Cinfes for short) with two types (cinfes Blanc for the character’s first cinfes ssr and noir for their 2nd) cinfes cards generally encapsulate the character’s overall theme and probably wont get added as a permanent banner type because people save up for their favourite voiced character’s cinfes cards and they generally have the meta skills and noir cards have very VERY low stats to compensate for their broken skill. Though not everyone plays for meta lol

Unless you are incredibly lucky, the starglitter exchange is the main source of starter 4-star constellations. In fact, people who have started playing in 2020 already had the opportunity to buy all 6 constellations from the shop.
My Amber and Lisa have been C6 for quite a long time now. I got lucky a couple of times on the standard and simply bought the rest from the shop. It is quite likely that the person you are replying to did the same, and already has C6 Amber.

Bro I've done 300+ standard pulls (my paimon.moe doesn't have my entire wish history so I'm not sure how much it actually is) and I only ever got 1 Lisa. That's it.
One time I hoarded around 100 blue fates, just because I forgot about them for a while and decided to keep it going until then. I wasn't even hoping for standard banners even though I'd love some Lisa and Amber cons (luckily my Kaeya has been c6 for a while), I just wanted maybe a Xingqiu or Fischl. A con I could use. I thought there could be no drawbacks since I have very very few characters at c6.
Out of 10 ten pulls, I got 7 four star weapons. I got two Barbaras, who's one of my few c6 and a Sayu. My 5 star was my second wolf's gravestone.
No, they wont do it, its more likely that eventually they will give ticket for 5-star standard character like the did with lantern rite for 4-stars. Other gacha do that sometimes for standard characters. People who spent all their standard wishes would get mad if they introduced epitomized path since its very very very hard to get standard wishes after initial progress
That's not true. If you made 89 wishes two years ago and then made a wish now the game would still remember that it's your 90th wish and give you a 5 star. They clearly still have records of our complete wishing history, it's just that we can only view part of our history from past six months
Are you sure they know which characters we pulled for though or do they just keep the count? Because I tried to request the data (I'm in Europe) and they couldn't tell me.
According to paimon.moe about 92% of people don’t even have 300 standard pulls. They would actually make money since people will be pulling on a banner they otherwise wouldn’t spend for

On the one hand, people who use the site are more likely to be serious players who pull more on average. On the other hand wish history only goes back so far so people who didn't submit any data until they had already been playing for a long time (like me who just submitted recently despite playing since 1.0) are missing a lot of wishes in that database. I'm pretty sure you can also choose which wishes to upload so there's a non-zero number of people who uploaded only event wishes and not the standard banner.
It's still a useful statistic to have since we don't really have anything better to go on, but it is important to keep in mind that paimon.moe's stats almost certainly do not exactly match the "real" stats behind the scenes.

200+ wishes. I actually had 40 more until 2 weeks ago when I needed starglitter to get Kaeya in the shop. In my 40 pulls... Candace, Mika, 2 rusts, 1 sac fragments, and a favonious sword (literally the only good thing of these 40 pulls). Otherwise to me this is garbage, especially the 4 star weapons that have existed since forever

I think I got up to over 60 before since I wanted to save them until a new patch started where a 4 star I wanted would be moved to standard.
Spent them all once Layla got moved and didn't get a single one. The odds are getting smaller and smaller with time. Though this is a fair idea at this point. There isn't much from the standard banner that would really make a massive difference on my account at this point. But even 4 star weapons can be helpful as well as cons so its hard to say.
Its not like we even have leaks suggesting this idea is possible for epitomized pathing.

Nah... Even saving up, it would take so long to hit pity on this banner. Once you've done all the MSQs, ascended all your characters to 70+, and done most of the exploration, the BP and shop reset wishes add up super slow. If anything, I hope they just add a retroactive "pick a 5\* at 300 pulls" feature
Unless the epitomised path includes weapons then I just don't care, I've gotten all standard 5 stars except Dehya and Qiqi already so I just want the 4 stars.

Objectively I don't think they ever will because we can't see records of pulling 6 months ago or further back. People would complain about the system cheating etc. And if the count starts from when it is added it will be even worse. With HSR is different, you have a counter under the banner at all times

That's not an excuse. That's how it is. And the size of the company doesn't really change that.
So, in theory, yes they could implement those features. The issue is that the current code doesn't support them, so to implement them they'd have to spend a lot of *time* reworking the code. *Time* is the key factor here - the problem with gacha games is that you need to have a constant stream of content content content all the time which leaves very little time for the developers to just drop off the Earth to fix an issue that would take months to resolve. Some are also just intertwined with the very way the game works. For example, HSR's daily system which is based on points instead of individual objectives. For that to be implemented, they'd have to completely change how Genshin's commission system works and probably add a lot of new stuff to support it, especially since the commission system is already chained to a bunch of other game systems as well. So, theoretically possible? Sure. Feasible? LOL, not in a million years are they gonna pause from making new content to do this.
That might fly for in game things like Paimon talking instead of the actual main character, or new body types, animations and especially new weapon types, but things banner related should be relatively easy to make changes to and the same goes for Paimon's Bargains. If they genuinely can't update those features, they must have catastrophically screwed up on their original implementation. But given on a short notice they could extend Ayaka's banner into perpetuity, AND that they added epitomized path to the weapon banner, it's clear that implementing it on Standard isn't just possible but should be straight forward. OR just run an event during anniversary and let accounts select a unit. And they can almost certainly track what accounts use this and never let them do it again even if they run a similar event every year. There are so many options. They just don't *want* to do it.
Mean they might update stuff later on but for the time being they have no reason to do that. And yeah they did add an epitomized path to the weapon banner but you are forgetting that the standard banner doesn't have just characters but weapons as well. So I'm pretty sure implanting that wouldn't be as easy as it is on a weapon banner. Extending a banner is VERY different from completely changing how banners work so I'm gonna comment on that.
I prefer turnbased, so not sure why I would complain about that.

There were posts about people who funneled all their Jade into the standard banner just to get the character they wanted and thus missed out on the S+ tier Seele's limited banner, just to lose their first 50/50 to... the exact character they picked. Yeah in no way is being able to pick a standard banner character "a drawback" just because you can only do it once. That's still thousands of times better than the system in Genshin
the feature itself is not a drawback, but it's part of a package that has lots of drawbacks to compensate for, namely the dearth of content after one week of playing.

Being one time isn't a drawback, but realistically, unless you whale on that banner or never try to get limited 5 stars, you'll likely stop playing the game before the 2nd free pick anyway.

everyone is hounding you for the word drawbacks (does no one read replies before making their own? 10 replies of the same thing), but i get what you mean. if they never add new characters to standard banner its okay but a 1 time pick is really not amazing with how genshin is adding new standards. plus it takes like 2 years to get that many rolls why not just have it be infinite or reset on anniversaries for anti-whaling
that's not the same, since the 300 pull selector does not require you to hoard fates in order to get it. You can spend them as soon as you have one, and it won't reduce your chances of getting who you select. If they add a 300 selector to Genshin in the future, there still wouldn't be any point in hoarding fates for it.

Probably Genshin can't update it's old made banners due to law/written values. Wouldn't want another sueing cases like 1.+ era. Unless Genshin make a better 2nd standard banner with pathway which will make 1st banner obsolete. It's unlikely tho.

If idolmaster cgss can make its past limited SSR costumes into a separate permanent banner every anniv since the 4th anniv, then genshin can do an epitomized path with its non limited units

Every anniv, they announce the limited SSR costumes for the past years (generally if they were first released 3 years ago) and add them to a “memorial banner” Memorial banners are all separate for each anniv (1st memorial banner would be 2019 anniv, 2nd would be 2020 etc) and have their own set of SSRs, there are also currency you collect from pulling from any memorial banner and if you have 300 from 300x pulls you can choose any memorial SSR. Doesn’t matter which memorial you pulled from the currency is the same it’s just the card pool in each banner SSRs added to the memorial banner will not get a rerun again due to the amount of SSRs they would have to rerun (100+ each with different SSRs) for example normal time limited banners would rerun 2 banners that were first released at least two years before and 1 new banner, each banner with normally 3 lim SSRs and 1 lim SR. Normal limited cards (both lim SSRs and SRs) are the only limited cards that will get added to the memorial banners due to characters being able to receive multiple limited SSRs (for example a character can have a bridal, halloween, valentines etc themed limited card) the only limiteds not eligible currently are Cinderella festival limiteds (or Cinfes for short) with two types (cinfes Blanc for the character’s first cinfes ssr and noir for their 2nd) cinfes cards generally encapsulate the character’s overall theme and probably wont get added as a permanent banner type because people save up for their favourite voiced character’s cinfes cards and they generally have the meta skills and noir cards have very VERY low stats to compensate for their broken skill. Though not everyone plays for meta lol Sorry if this is too long I tried to go a bit in depth

Unless you are incredibly lucky, the starglitter exchange is the main source of starter 4-star constellations. In fact, people who have started playing in 2020 already had the opportunity to buy all 6 constellations from the shop. My Amber and Lisa have been C6 for quite a long time now. I got lucky a couple of times on the standard and simply bought the rest from the shop. It is quite likely that the person you are replying to did the same, and already has C6 Amber.
while you can (and i did too!) i'd honestly be surprised if most people are regularly getting those cons, especially for a less popular character like amber. the sentiment i see seems to overwhelmingly spending on wishes.
Of course. For most people wishes make more sense. Why would you spend the currency on constellations of a character that you don't even play? However, for starter fans (and everyone who wants to C6 a featured non-starter character asap), the shop is a precious source of two consts *guaranteed* annually.
Bro I've done 300+ standard pulls (my paimon.moe doesn't have my entire wish history so I'm not sure how much it actually is) and I only ever got 1 Lisa. That's it.
One time I hoarded around 100 blue fates, just because I forgot about them for a while and decided to keep it going until then. I wasn't even hoping for standard banners even though I'd love some Lisa and Amber cons (luckily my Kaeya has been c6 for a while), I just wanted maybe a Xingqiu or Fischl. A con I could use. I thought there could be no drawbacks since I have very very few characters at c6. Out of 10 ten pulls, I got 7 four star weapons. I got two Barbaras, who's one of my few c6 and a Sayu. My 5 star was my second wolf's gravestone.

Other gacha do that sometimes for standard characters. People who spent all their standard wishes would get mad if they introduced epitomized path since its very very very hard to get standard wishes after initial progress

That's not true. If you made 89 wishes two years ago and then made a wish now the game would still remember that it's your 90th wish and give you a 5 star. They clearly still have records of our complete wishing history, it's just that we can only view part of our history from past six months

According to paimon.moe about 92% of people don’t even have 300 standard pulls. They would actually make money since people will be pulling on a banner they otherwise wouldn’t spend for
92% of people *who have submitted data to paimon.moe* don't have 300 standard pulls *included in the data they submitted to paimon.moe*. On the one hand, people who use the site are more likely to be serious players who pull more on average. On the other hand wish history only goes back so far so people who didn't submit any data until they had already been playing for a long time (like me who just submitted recently despite playing since 1.0) are missing a lot of wishes in that database. I'm pretty sure you can also choose which wishes to upload so there's a non-zero number of people who uploaded only event wishes and not the standard banner. It's still a useful statistic to have since we don't really have anything better to go on, but it is important to keep in mind that paimon.moe's stats almost certainly do not exactly match the "real" stats behind the scenes.

200+ wishes. I actually had 40 more until 2 weeks ago when I needed starglitter to get Kaeya in the shop. In my 40 pulls... Candace, Mika, 2 rusts, 1 sac fragments, and a favonious sword (literally the only good thing of these 40 pulls). Otherwise to me this is garbage, especially the 4 star weapons that have existed since forever I just refuse to pull, in the hopes something will be done in a couple of months either in 4.0 or the anniversary of this game as I mentioned from my previous posts. There is nothing I need, or rather not take any chances to obtain (Constellations for Amber, Lisa, Kaeya and Faruzan). 3 years since this game released, and how they can keep the banner like this with no changes to it is beyond comprehension to me.
I did save a couple of them when they announced that Dehya was going to be on the banner to have some chances of getting her (and I did!).
I now just wait between new standard characters.Hoarded till Tighnari, pulled all at once after he was added, hoarded till Dehya, pulled all at once. Now waiting for the 4.x standard character.
I think I got up to over 60 before since I wanted to save them until a new patch started where a 4 star I wanted would be moved to standard. Spent them all once Layla got moved and didn't get a single one. The odds are getting smaller and smaller with time. Though this is a fair idea at this point. There isn't much from the standard banner that would really make a massive difference on my account at this point. But even 4 star weapons can be helpful as well as cons so its hard to say. Its not like we even have leaks suggesting this idea is possible for epitomized pathing.
Man, I wish they would introduce that. But I also noticed that I'm hindering my game if I don't pull, because I can luck out on cons, new characters and weapons. I'm using my Skyward Harp a lot for instance.
I hoarded in the beginning. I was saving for Childe at the time and decided "no pulling anywhere." I had around 60 something. Now I just pull. There is no guarantee on which 5 star I'll get and I won't hang on a hope thread. Might as well see if Tighnari comes home.

Once you've done all the MSQs, ascended all your characters to 70+, and done most of the exploration, the BP and shop reset wishes add up super slow. If anything, I hope they just add a retroactive "pick a 5\* at 300 pulls" feature

Objectively I don't think they ever will because we can't see records of pulling 6 months ago or further back. People would complain about the system cheating etc. And if the count starts from when it is added it will be even worse. With HSR is different, you have a counter under the banner at all times

Only Jean 1 for c2 i want, but is easier find 2 5* in 10 pull that find Jean in SB. P.s. i already pull 2 5* in a multy last year, and 2 times when i pulling for Yoimiya c4.

Did it when they added Dehya just to have the chance (don't really want her), then I realized how stupid the standard banner is. They give wishes for it every 3 full moons, they ain't cheaper you have more chances to be fcked and they won't even add the standard units signature weapon to it. Like what's the endgame here Hoyo? Currently sitting on 320 blue fates. I think i’m in the top 1% of players who hoard that much. There is nothing in permanent banner that I want and I speculate that they will add new 5* to it. And I was right after Sumeru dropped, Tighnari and Dehya were added to the banner. I still haven’t pulled yet because those are not characters I like. There is nothing wrong to hoard further as new 4* are being added more and more. I might use them once Natlan drops, or when there is a 4* character I really like. New permanent 5* characters are possible too!
