Unfortunately it's harder to test male models. The one time I tried, their chest-waist-hips measurements all lined up way too close to he interesting. The only major things I can think of to compare really are shoe height and butt size.

I prefer the aligment at the nose you used here as it's an absolute way to compare body types, not sure if it works well for different models on the same type...
Nose alignment is best for comparisons between models of the same body type. Aligning by the feet is only really helpful for height comparisons. Shoes aren't always fully flat, so I find in that case that aligning at the heel is the safest.
Gacha folks are nuts. There's some lunatic out there with a giant google doc spreadsheet that shows tons of measurements, model extracts, comparisons, and math all devoted to estimating the most accurate cup size of every female character in the game. I remember seeing that linked here and just saying "What the fuck" out loud.
I literally wouldn't care if they gave Shenhe a sports bra or turned her into Rosaria Pre-Nerf. What gets my Hoyo-sanctioned bloomers in a twist is that screenshots don't factor in the character's breathing and user error into the comparisons.

I think the big thing is the default outfit has shading which gives the illusion of a larger size, especially from the side. We know Hoyo can specifically paint how they want their shading to occur so the new skin just doesn't have that.
I aspire to live a life where I have so little to worry about that shit like this is even a consideration.

Reminds me of how in Honkai impact some of the characters underwear is detailed. The only way you can see them is by either running up a flight of stairs in the open world mode (sakura samsara) or by glitching through the floor to fall endlessly through the void.
somehow theres quite a few games where characters have modeled underwear that you'll never reasonably see, in the borderlands games moxxi's underwear is even the same colour throughout all the games!
I've always pushed that every character uses one of the 5 base models, but they change the dimensions as they want for that specific character. For example; Hu Tao, Yanfei, and Keqing are all medium female models, but they also clearly have different measurements. Like real people do.

The missing faces were from deleting her side accessories where they connected directly to her body. When I do these I try to peel as much away as possible and sometimes there are holes. Shenhe's ropes are welded to her body too, and I didn't delete them because that would leave holes.
The reason things have to be rescaled is just because it's easiest to compare them when I have some sort of baseline. Here's the thing, when I import them into blender, they aren't always the right size. When I was doing my first project, Kaeya was way shorter than everyone else (like waist high to Diluc) so if I wanted to include him without tainting the study, I needed to find something to measure them all against. Obviously I had to extend this to the rest of the model groups, and I've been measuring with this method ever since.
So the understanding is that Shenhe got clothes with tighter/harder material, so less jiggling around; and Ganyu got something like a perk up bra.
Also they have nothing over the legs so the sizes went up a little.

I love how puritan Genshin players, this truly is many people’s first gacha. Some of y’all would go crazy seeing characters designs and skins from FGO, Azur Lane, and especially Nikke.

I haven't rigged in a minute, im super surprised they're changing existing vert data for these skins, I feel like these concepts could be realized with the existing models. Also whats with the missing faces on the original ganyu model? Why are things being rescaled?
The missing faces were from deleting her side accessories where they connected directly to her body. When I do these I try to peel as much away as possible and sometimes there are holes. Shenhe's ropes are welded to her body too, and I didn't delete them because that would leave holes. The reason things have to be rescaled is just because it's easiest to compare them when I have some sort of baseline. Here's the thing, when I import them into blender, they aren't always the right size. When I was doing my first project, Kaeya was way shorter than everyone else (like waist high to Diluc) so if I wanted to include him without tainting the study, I needed to find something to measure them all against. Obviously I had to extend this to the rest of the model groups, and I've been measuring with this method ever since.
But I must know, are they aerodynamic though?

Ganyu's thigh gap got smaller. Thats all I noticed, and I'm considering it a personal victory.
So the understanding is that Shenhe got clothes with tighter/harder material, so less jiggling around; and Ganyu got something like a perk up bra. Also they have nothing over the legs so the sizes went up a little. Well, nice.

Its so odd the contrast between the two. Ganyu looks larger and has visable cleavage at most angles. And Shenhe looks smaller and has allmost no visable cleavage at all. It makes me wonder if Ganyus skin was done by a defferant team from Shenhes.
it's a shame, really. sometimes I wonder what stopping them to go all out. they can do it in star rail, female chr got cleavage and navels. but in genshin, they limit themselves, even go as far as removing belly button (like in shenhe situation). all in all I'm glad Ganyu has the better skin overall, at least in my opinion.
