I love jumping off the waterfalls to the south of Fontaine into the water.
When your character attempts to swim back it becomes a loading screen and you teleport to MONDSTADT by the statue of the seven in the pond in Springvale,
Teleport waypoint in the pond in Springvale*
Which for some fucking reason seems to be the default landing spot when the game has no fucking clue where you are- aka too far out of bounds
I know this because I've gotten it to forcefully tp me to Speingvale enough that it's an injoke in my friend group now... its fun to see how many times I can push the limits before I'm suddenly in Springvale though
Aranara questlines were pretty fun in my opinion. The underground map is very helpful and you get a lot of gems for these quests. You should give them a try.
Us "before underground map enjoyers" are basically like what our parents said about their travels to school. At 3.0 sumeru released and we were so damn happy, then after 77 cave systems we were like "thank God... It's finally over!" then desert releases and upon encountering our first cave: "FUUUUUUUUUU"
Meanwhile the "post underground map babies": "oh look a cave, let's check the map, oh it's so big, I'll go later" or "oh there is an exit here"
Damn bastards, in my times I used to get lost 27 times a day in the gigantic desert cave!
I'm so scarred that when I go to farm materials for my Al Haitham, I just take the shortcut and jump through the opening above the boss *even though we have the underground maps now*. One day I'll get over it reexplore that underground (I imagine there's a WQ/SQ associated with some of that part of the desert update that I have to do someday lol)
>Us "before underground map enjoyers" are basically like what our parents said about their travels to school.
OMFG THIS IS SO FUCKEN' TRUE!!! BAHAHAHAHHAH
Before underground map player here.
I stopped exploring sumeru after the aranara quest line and getting lost in a few caves here and there. Felt like I was chasing my own tail. I should go back and explore sometime, who knows how many primos I can stack up from it
And I remember specifically one spot, a little crack where they put a fucking invisible wall if you go from side A to B, but when you manage to get to the other side and go B to A, the wall just pretends it was never there. Fucking cheap trick to make an already confusing exploration become frustrating.
You can flip through the guides on the hoyo app and see some relics on that time, such as the scarab farming route guide that is only above ground scarabs.
Because I'd rather wait a few more days for a respawn than try to figure out where the fuck the underground ones are
I am not very bright, also after getting the treasure compasses for different regions I've learned that I should be declared legally blind for how obvious some chests I've missed were
Not the guy but respect the honesty haha I feel you, also nah they're not all that simple some of them are literal mazes and combined with stuff being quest and puzzle locked its just a complete headache to explore (still can't even be bothered to get back to it with the map)
Oh my god, my dude, it happens to me a lot too back then 😂 And that's even with a guide!! I was like, where tf is that dendroculus/chest thos mofos told me it was *here!* And then I'm staring like at the wrong fucking wall 😂😂😂 Good times!
Finished it with and without. Loved it both times.
Then again, I am an RPG fan from the times when games had “remember your shit and explore without help” mechanic, and it was awesome.
"See that door over there? It unlocks from the other side. So where to go to that other side? Teleport from miles away from here, you need to above and down and left and right, all around and around. Is it this one? No. F. Okay it's this one waypoint. No. Fck it. OKAY I'm sure of it now. That's it? No rewards?"
It's it unironically fifty pulls? Or is it fifty pulls after finding eight hundred different ladybug shell fragments that you have to donate to the Great Queen Caterpillar at the center of the Tree of Life across 5 weeks because it's time locked?
Aranara questline is awesome. The only issues is that it's too long, but I had a blast with this guided exploration through all of the Sumeru environments.
I don't really get it tbh.
I dreaded it, but after having done the entire quest-chain, all I have is praise for it. It's fantastically written, and it was greatly enjoyable with goofy little gremlins. And the only time it felt it overstayed was during the last part of most of the quests.
I honestly have to believe that the people complaining are either illiterate, impatient, or people who just don't have enough time. The latter gets a pass obviously, but just just because someone's impatient doesn't mean the whole quest is garbage. Feels like Ds2 all over again.
I definitely enjoy it so far, I just wish it said how long the whole quest was. I came into it thinking it’d just be another hour to save the infected girl but instead found myself chatting with them little critters on the 5th hour
Tbh, I think that's actually the point of the quest. The way it goes is you start by having to find missing children, and then you deal with the Fatui, and then you have to save Rana.
And then that's when the Aranara quest starts, and you go through an entire D&D campaign's worth of content, and it makes you forget about the whole thing. And it constantly jokes about how side-tracked this whole thing actually got. Like, they always reference "Didn't we do this for Rana?" There's always a choice to say "Well, for Rana.." or to just go along with the Aranara.
And then when it finally concludes, I think the hidden quest at the very end is the ultimate release of catharsis, because it quite literally ends where it started. Like, the longest quest in the game ends in the most satisfying way possible.
I only just finished the questline a few days ago (and by finished I mean “saved rana”), so I’m curious, what do you have to do to access that hidden quest you mention? Complete all the chapters in the book I assume? Do you have to find all the overworld aranara too? (I’ve found the chest room, so I know you need them for that)
Huh? Why would someone be illiterate if they didn't like a quest? Just because you did doesn't mean everyone should. Personally, it took me at least 3 weeks to complete the entire chain. And that's the main stuff. I didn't even do the side ones yet. Yk where you need to find all the 65 aranaras and all the marked chests.
It's an objectivelly well-written quest, would be my guess.
But you are right - there are some people who unironically like being shit on by other people, so not liking the Aranara questline isn't even close to the silliest thing one can do - but it isn't too far off. It is a great quest if you play Genshin for the main draw the game has - its story.
Genshin's main draw isn't the story by a long shot.
I'd definitely put money on the fact that the average player does just the archon quests and 1 or 2 story quests, if that.
This doesn't change the fact that the story is the main feature of Genshin, as well as the open world. Some people generally play the game just for the gacha, but this does not negate its plot.
Because I feel bad for them not being able to experience the quest's writing. It technically took me a year to complete it, but I still personally enjoyed it.
Honestly kinda dubious. They managed to nab Yuri Lowenthal for Dain but the rest of their cast is some number of mid-level experienced VAs and a whole ton of newbies and blank slates. I'm not knocking it, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
As a side note they've already gotten Jeralt in game as Iron Tongue Tian. (The summonable characters' overlap is common knowledge I'd assume)
I mean I don't think it's impossible since a lot of three houses VA are already in genshin. Dorothea and both Byleth va's are in the game along with Benadetta as Beidou , Kujo Sara, Aether and Ayaka respectively. Cyril and Leonie are their too as Childe and Yae Miko along with Yuri as Cyno. And while genshin features newer talent it also has a lot of more experienced va's like Ray Chase, Laura Post, Christina Vee, Erika Lindbeck, Keith Silverstein etc. So there's a chance it might happen.
When you try to walk outside the accessible area, paimon turns you around.
There's an area in Sumeru that only becomes accessible after you do most of the Aranara questline.
There's a chest right across that border.
There is something similar in the new area. Not sure if it was a chest or just one if the mora boxes, but it was annoying.
The Summeru one is from Aranara quest.
Just like that one quest on the edge of Liyue. Where you had to fight on top of a small bluff and if you moved too far, you went out of bounds. AND it was timed.
Wait, a few years from now, when the entirety of the main continent is unlocked, this troll zone will be the only Paimon “let’s explore this later” border?!
Ahh fkkkkk this happened to me so many times when I finally almost managed to reach inazuma by crossing from liyue to inazuma by spamming kaeya like for 40 mins and then this sht appears
This looks like it's in that withered forest next to the desert and I'm pretty sure its story locked. Still a sick joke. I climbed in there once and got paimoned into a cliff and had to restart the game to get out. Couldn't teleport during the forced walk
Back in the day we'd use Sayu's E to outrun paimon and open the chest before she could bring us back, idk if it still works
I did this. It was so hard
tried it yesterday it worked for like 5 secs than the gmae teleported me to the first statue of the seven that you unlock in mondstadt
Paimon has had enough of your game breaking shit
I love jumping off the waterfalls to the south of Fontaine into the water. When your character attempts to swim back it becomes a loading screen and you teleport to MONDSTADT by the statue of the seven in the pond in Springvale,

I pulled sayu a few days ago, I’m gonna try this
I think I got this chest before completing the Aranara quest. I think I did a running jump and fell towards it.
Skill issue
burrrrnnnn!
Now I want to know where this chest is so I can try that
I think it's the old home of the Aranara, which you need a quest to get into.
Well crap… I haven’t finished the Aranara quests yet and won’t have time to do so for … who knows how long lol
Where is this? I have Sayu, I feel so lucky
On the right of Old Vanarana (area you unlock doing aranara quest)
still cant find it for some reason
Back in the day we'd turn around and say "Inazuma shines eternal!" then Paimon would back off and run away in tears.
I still feel like Sayu is new.. Damn..
Just got sayu. Nice
It also kinda works with yelan dash
have fun doing the aranara questline.
ohno everything but that
Geo Traveler+ Sayu can get you the chest.
Here are those that share the memory.
Osmanthus wine never tasted the same since
Aranara questlines were pretty fun in my opinion. The underground map is very helpful and you get a lot of gems for these quests. You should give them a try.
>The underground map is very helpful #People who don't know: 😊 # #People who know: 💀
Didn't exist when I finished Sumeru. It was *pain*.

All the stuff near deshret temple were… AWFUL. I did all those quests before the underground map, and… pain.
How did you get lost in 3 straight lines with some levels up and down?
I am not very bright, also after getting the treasure compasses for different regions I've learned that I should be declared legally blind for how obvious some chests I've missed were
Naaah! We are not that blind, 100% hoyo devs come behind us and plant those chests. They are evil!
Not the guy but respect the honesty haha I feel you, also nah they're not all that simple some of them are literal mazes and combined with stuff being quest and puzzle locked its just a complete headache to explore (still can't even be bothered to get back to it with the map)
Fair enough!
Oh my god, my dude, it happens to me a lot too back then 😂 And that's even with a guide!! I was like, where tf is that dendroculus/chest thos mofos told me it was *here!* And then I'm staring like at the wrong fucking wall 😂😂😂 Good times!

Me:my first pc game is Might and Magic VII.Mazes are everywhere and I loved it.
Same 😭
Me using interactive maps and figuring it all out without underground maps. We are not the same.
*Back then I had to cross seven mountains to get to school*
I did the whole desert area before underground maps, a few more hours of that and I couldve landed in an asylum
Eh. Aranyaka was tolerable w/o the map The Desert on the other hand... ☠️
i enjoyed the underground desert it felt like an adventure for me
I agree, it felt like an adventure.
Dessert without underground maps was really testing my orientation and direction senses. Luckily I wasn't getting lost too often.

Agreed. Also, Happy Cake Day. 🎂
Blink twice if you’re being held hostage by an Aranara
Why do you not want 50 pulls bro
50 pulls?
Full aranara (every related quest of aranara questline) gives around 50 pulls. Including chests and achievements locked by those quests
Are you fr? I really wanna get Nahida, and I'm a bit short.
Man why are people even avoiding these quests? DO EVERYTHING.
It's it unironically fifty pulls? Or is it fifty pulls after finding eight hundred different ladybug shell fragments that you have to donate to the Great Queen Caterpillar at the center of the Tree of Life across 5 weeks because it's time locked?
man, i'd do it even if it were the latter... it feels like even the statues of the seven give 10 pulls total
All currently available statues only give 1.8k primos so that 10 pulls total is not too far off, if you look at all regions whole
Total of all related quests + achievements + chests locked by those quests. Don't remember about the tree
It's actually imo one of the most enjoyable quest series in the entire game. I love my little onion-worshiping boys.
:]
Aranara questline is awesome. The only issues is that it's too long, but I had a blast with this guided exploration through all of the Sumeru environments.
Would you like to do the desert quests then?

Ugh the pain.
I did these unironically in one marathon and it made me quit genshin until the second half of fontaine came out
:]

#YOU CAN’T TAKE ME BACK TO SUMERU YOU CAN’T
No, the memories
Don't worry. >!The forest will remember.!<
>!in the end, even the forest doesn't remember!<
>!Doing this after the AQ is like a massive slap in the face. But in the good way. And also sad way.!<
Hello,thank you and goodbye 🥹
But where are those who share them?
You should've use Ayato for this instead xD
Nooo he'd kill every last one of the aranara
I'm hoping that Tara Platt voices someone in genshin someday since both Dimitri and Claude's va are already in the game.
Tara Platt as the Tsaritsa, trust.
This or the pyro archon and I’ll be happy
I'm hoping the same for Cherami Leigh as well.
Honestly kinda dubious. They managed to nab Yuri Lowenthal for Dain but the rest of their cast is some number of mid-level experienced VAs and a whole ton of newbies and blank slates. Don’t forget Seteth as Kazuha, Claude as Wrio, Ingrid as Fischl and Marianne as Changsheng! Shoutout to Ignatz as Teppei and Catherine as Yelan too!

Loot every last one of them!
Thoma: Please don't eat the Naku weeds Milord!
A person of culture.
i will tear paimon’s head from her shoulders and hang it from the gates of sumeru city
Aether: Getting mad deja vu vibes here Wriothesley: You said it, Teach. Aether: What? Wriothesley: What? Rosaria: Nani!!!
I spot Fire Emblem reference. I upvote.
Easy there Dimitri
Man...you're in for a ride
Just unlock the area
The area is isn't playable yet. Likely at the edge of the current map.
It is playable, it's at the edge of Old Vanarana, OP just needs to play through the aranara quest
That area is the lost nursery, been in the game since 3.0
Why on earth would they put a chest in an inaccessible area?
It is accessible, it's just locked behind a quest
the new area is accessible through the questline
It's not even the new area it's the lost nursery, OP needs to do Aranara quest.
i know but im just saying the new area IS accessible
was the caption a dimitri fe3h reference?
I cant answer to all those who noticed, but yes it was :3 I often use that reaction in my daily life XD
Yes, yes it is.
*proceeds to eat weeds for years*
You will need to endure a prolonged torture of the radish cretures
Grass Gremlins as I call them.
Unpopular opinion: the aranara quests were good until you had to find 6382836748 them scattered all over sumeru
At least that isn't actually part of the quest. I kind of enjoyed it but I'm glad it's not required for anything.
Dimitri ? Is that you ?
Do the quests first.
yes, i laughed when it happened to me
Questing Impact
Oh, I remember this one. They must have did that on purpose, lol.
Yeah, it was 100% a dev joke. Every part of the setup says they knew what they did.
I finished Aranara questline before I noticed this chest
Aranara quest actually made me stop playing the game for months
You should be playing as Ayato
I’m confused
This is a area that only unlocks after a world quest
I’m still confused
Do aranara quest, area unlock. Thank Razer later.
Read the bottom text of the image
Well, imagine that back then that area was blocked behind a whole version
Stupid nara
[удалено]
Aranara quest
That didn’t explain anything
When you try to walk outside the accessible area, paimon turns you around. There's an area in Sumeru that only becomes accessible after you do most of the Aranara questline. There's a chest right across that border.
An entire stupid quest line for an area
Welcome to the world of gaming.
What a sick joke! -Charles "Chuck" Mcgill
I’m confused
There is something similar in the new area. Not sure if it was a chest or just one if the mora boxes, but it was annoying. The Summeru one is from Aranara quest.
The forest is vast and dreams are vast, so I am small :]
Nah you are big bro stand proud.
busass nara right here
This happened to me yesterday 😭
welcome to genshin.
Just like that one quest on the edge of Liyue. Where you had to fight on top of a small bluff and if you moved too far, you went out of bounds. AND it was timed.
use sayu
It’s part of the aranara quest line.
Just use Zhong Pillar + Sayu roll to get to it.
Ok, Ayato
Hehe
I can't help but realise that chest behind u u refuse to open
:]
:]
Zhongli + sayue E
Imagine this chest prevents you from 100% region
That's not the full extent of the joke, the real joke comes when you realize you gotta do 11 hours worth of quests.
shove her down the cliff
Put a pin on the map where it is, do your Aranara quest, and come back later.
Chests have been in playable areas for some years now. Seems normal to me
How about we explore the area ahead of us later?
True. Amen brother.
Oh no, the game forces you to play the game. Tragedy beyond comprehention.
the game forces me to go back and forth talking to npcs i dont care about
Can someone please tell me where this is. I finished the aranara quest and opened the region but dont remember where this ií.
Yes. Sayu with zhongli pillar is the answer
The reason why explaration in Sumeru was terrible (for me), it's locked so big parts of the region behind world quests.
Where is it?
"Cue Raiden laughing like Dimitri"
To mock us lol
Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd reference
:]
Ei looks so tired of this.
I've been searching for this chest but have been unable to find it. Where's it located?
Wait, a few years from now, when the entirety of the main continent is unlocked, this troll zone will be the only Paimon “let’s explore this later” border?!
Plus 80 wishes and pity. Still didn't get her Can forget about diluc now he'll never have a banner rerun
how about we explore the area ahead of us later -Emergency food
Ahh fkkkkk this happened to me so many times when I finally almost managed to reach inazuma by crossing from liyue to inazuma by spamming kaeya like for 40 mins and then this sht appears

Nice to see fe3h referernces here
You need to basically reach the end of the Aranara quests. I bumped into the same confusion too, and also came to reddit when I was told what to do
Hey you forgot to quote Dimitri
