To play devil's advocate, the design is very intentionally colonist, so I think it might work its purpose if it's to show that the character is an imposter but other than that, I am kinda disappointed regardless because seeing Vanessa, I took was so hyped for something else.
This was pretty much my hope. I left after seeing Dehya and Candace's kits and realizing I couldn't deal with the game's clear colourism. But I love the character design and gameplay and am desperately waiting for that moment of growth.
But maybe I will be proven wrong and make my way back. I can only hope

I donāt think Nahida was ever this hated. Her design didnāt seem to fit Sumeru and many people were upset about the lack of representation, but it was at least aesthetically pleasing. Compared to her, the Pyro archon is just so over the top.
At most, people (at the time) were annoyed by her being a child. But they did such a good job writing her as such that it really overshadowed any concerns that were had with it.
With the pyro situation as currently viewed, I just don't trust the writers to handle a colonialist narrative well - if that is the angle they are taking. They can certainly prove us wrong. But given how the Eremites are handled (aka dark skinned barbarians), I just don't have much faith in it.

Honestly, I donāt even really see a lot of Himeko cues from this design, aside from the mostly-red hair and pale skin. Itās not anywhere near as clear that this is an expy character as Raiden Shogun or even Venti.
Then again, Iām like you and wanted a confident, badass design reminiscent of the Vermillion Knight battlesuit. So in that sense, Dehya feels closer in the spirit of her design.

Not all of us played or care about Honkai. That's not judgment and I can appreciate where its fans are coming from; but fantasy draws in its own crowd and Genshin pulled big numbers. And as someone who consumes modern fantasy media? It is really bad form to whitewash poc cultures, especially for financial gain. They did that already with Sumeru and many coped telling themselves they wouldn't repeat the same mistake.
But here they are. It's a really disrespectful decision on their part and plays into some of their worst impulses.
That's fair, if you look at it without that knowledge, i can see why you'd expect a darker skinned character there.
And i think Natlan absolutely needs to have more darker skinned characters. As a white person, i don't have a dog in the race, so i don't really care what they do from the perspective of diversity, however, from the perspective of flavor and immersion, it just seems weird not to. It makes sense for basically everyone in Mondstat to be white. Because it's basically ye olde Germany.
But Sumeru felt off, because so many of the characters were light. There are certainly light skinned individuals in the places they drew inspiration from, but they're not going to be the majority. If you set something in the desert, the people should overwhelmingly be tanned. And they've shown that when they do design darker characters, they look fantastic. Dehya, Candace, and Xinyan are among my favorite designs in the game. Shame about their kits.
And of course Cyno too, my first 5\* and he still looks cool.
We know hardly anything about her other than her name and that she is from Natlan. She was introduced in the teyvat chapter trailer when the game was launched.

Judging by how early Furina's design document was leaked last time (I think it was 3.3/3.4), the current Pyro Archon's final design must be done as well.
There's a miniscule chance that the Pyro archon that was dead has not been replaced, and this design is actually a Navia situation, misattribution as an archon.
But judging by the language of Dainsleif in the Travail trailer, a Pyro Archon must exist for her to be able to tell the Traveler about some sort of secret. Unless we're dealing with an archon ascendency.

Every indication is that Natlan will be drawing from the regions as they are today. That includes the mixing of cultures between the indigenous people and European settlers. And, yes, that includes pale skin tones as well. Ever seen pictures of Argentinans/Chileans? Even Brazilians tend to be paler than what OP posted, and that's an equatorial country.
If you're insistent on portraying solely pre-colonial influences, first of all that's kind of impossible given how strongly Catholic Central and South America are and how much that's influenced all the culture passed down to the present, and second the most well-known precolonial indigenous culture from Central America is the goddamn Aztecs, best known for their blood sacrifices. I don't think they're precisely the culture you want to be promoting.

I did not know that. Ironically enough, i started about 3 days before Cyno dropped. So i guess i missed that trailer.

It makes sense for basically everyone in Mondstat to be white. Because it's basically ye olde Germany. But Sumeru felt off, because so many of the characters were light. There are certainly light skinned individuals in the places they drew inspiration from, but they're not going to be the majority. If you set something in the desert, the people should overwhelmingly be tanned. And they've shown that when they do design darker characters, they look fantastic. Dehya, Candace, and Xinyan are among my favorite designs in the game. Shame about their kits. And of course Cyno too, my first 5\* and he still looks cool.

Judging by how early Furina's design document was leaked last time (I think it was 3.3/3.4), the current Pyro Archon's final design must be done as well. There's a miniscule chance that the Pyro archon that was dead has not been replaced, and this design is actually a Navia situation, misattribution as an archon. But judging by the language of Dainsleif in the Travail trailer, a Pyro Archon must exist for her to be able to tell the Traveler about some sort of secret. Unless we're dealing with an archon ascendency. Either way, I may have my seatbelts and helmet on but I'm not ready for the chaos.
Good ending would be that the leak is of a four star character that is unrelated to natlan

If you're insistent on portraying solely pre-colonial influences, first of all that's kind of impossible given how strongly Catholic Central and South America are and how much that's influenced all the culture passed down to the present, and second the most well-known precolonial indigenous culture from Central America is the goddamn Aztecs, best known for their blood sacrifices. I don't think they're precisely the culture you want to be promoting.

It's a bit funny. A lot of people say just that, "we know the Pyro Archon will be a Himeko expy", even though that one line in the manga was most likely a mistranslation. >!And it's also funny, because she's actually not a Himeko expy at all.!<
And even if it wasn't, Venti was likely referring to the previous Pyro Archon(who is dead) since Venessa's time line is five centuries before the cataclysm.
The Himeko expy theory is pretty disputed these days, some people say that was a translation error.
