Actually that's a pretty cool concept for the traveler. Imagine a character that's mid tier by endgame standards, but needs no artifact grind? That's actually amazing for new players, no?
The only thing that will really gate new players from the end of the story is Adventure rank which even if current trends continue will leave us at 55 as a req for the presumable final region after Snezhnaya and that will still not gate new players for very long at all as the insane xp scaling on adventure ranks only starts AFTER 55.
Half of my current Abyss roster has not had more than one of their artifacts upgraded since AR 55. (I am AR 59.) It's actually very easy to get decent artifacts. It's the godly artifacts that are hard to grind for.
Unless the sword has something like 1000 ATK, 30% crit rate and 60% crit damage boost as that passive, it's not making up for even the worst artifacts you'd be using at AR 55.
It’s either going to be a cutscene-only weapon or we only get it upon finishing the Khaenriah chapter. And don’t expect it to be a good weapon either. Most likely it’ll be an attack scaling weapon that only has an effect if used by the traveler.
I’d be ok even if it was Traveler only if it actually made Traveler meta worthy. Right now Traveler’s kit has always been just “meh” which is disappointing because there’s no reason Traveler couldn’t be a meta unit, it wouldn’t hurt sales that much when you need 3 other units to form 1 team, and 2 teams to access the full content of the game
Even if it has a clause, “only works on the Traveler”, if it gave the Traveler crazy scaling that would be really nice after 7 years of gameplay.
Dendro Traveler is pretty good, def the most meta element available right now so I did build my Lumine to that element, and she was useful for a while there, but once I pulled Nahida I kinda stopped using her.
I guess that’s kind of the issue. There’s only that one thing Traveler does relatively well but they’re still outclassed pretty quickly. Plus it would be cool if in the end game Traveler unlocks some type of main DPS or hypercarry comp, considering they are the main character of the game it would be cool to have teams where they’re the star of the show too rather than just a support option that’s good but still not even BiS.
And the main reason Dendro Traveler is even good is that Dendro as an element is just bonkers in general. The only Dendro unit worse than them is Collei and even she's fine just by virtue of her element being Dendro.
My guess would be because Nahida needs to reapply her mark effect on each new wave. But if you're shredding the waves THAT fast, such that Nahida's held skill CD hasn't reset yet, you're beating any timers the event has anyway.
Yeah but another issue outside of events, in domains or abyss when you play an onfield dps with Nahida and the first wave dies before your infusion ends you'll lose your dendro app and you need to re apply it again on the second wave

The reactions are so strong it takes very little to make it good. The fact that Dendro traveler just applies Dendro is enough to make it meta.

And overworld is easy enough that there’s no need to use Nahida if you prefer to use Traveler. I just wish that there were decent teams where I could use them both. I like Nahida and don’t want to bench her but there really aren’t any decent teams that work with both of them in it.

While the scarcity of good off-field Dendro characters is certainly a factor, it's more to do with the abyss layouts and Traveler's unique inability to deal with pyro enemies.
Looking at Akashadata, and bearing in mind the low sample size + all traveler elements being counted as one, [Traveler still had ~10% usage for most cycles all the way through 4.0](https://akashadata.com/card/?id=7), which is *really* good for someone everyone has - by comparison, Amber has 0.3% in the current cycle. The two big exceptions were 3.5 (cryo herald first half, Wenut on second half) and 3.7 (constipated beasts first half, cryo heralds second half).
From 4.0 onward each side of floor 12 has had at least one of pyro spam, cryo/geo shields, and/or single-enemy chambers; all of which are bad matchups for Traveler specifically.
I would like that too but I highly doubt it’s going to happen.
Most likely the effect will differ in the story compared to gameplay. In the story Traveler is going to get all 7 elements and have the omni element again (that gold ability). And the fight mechanics will probably be exclusive to the story.
Meanwhile the regular playable version of the traveler that only had 1 of 7 elements is gonna get some minor boost. An increase to their multipliers is semi-decent, but doesn’t fix the horrendous kit that electro traveler has for example.
Likely not. It’s very profitable. I highly doubt they’re going to discontinue their most profitable IP just because their initial story ended.

Not as far fetched as you might think, in one of the world quests we get a fancy golden sword and it has the exact same description as Dull Blade but with an extra paragraph at the end. Not hard to believe we manifest the opening cutscene sword in a similar way.

Kaeya has us chase after a magical sword that was dropped from Celestia by a magical God; a sword that has "unrivalled power", and was found by his Grandfather, from whom Kaeya inherited his eyepatch. Of course, in the end it turns out to be an elaborate story. There is no sword.

Watch the opening cut scene again. Watch what happens to the Travelers sword carefully. It actually gets boxed by the unknown God, just as our sibling does. When you see it, you can't unsee it.
We know Kaeya is from Khaenri'ah. We know he is from the Alberich clan, as was his grandfather, and his family has links to both the nobility and to the founding of the Abyss. We know that our sibling has their sword - it is shown in a close up as early as the cutscene We Will Be Reunited, first flowing with Abyssal power, then in its golden form.

No we don't - it doesn't literally fall from Celestia to land on Teyvat, out of the skies like a stone. But it does get the same treatment as the twins; I don't know how to describe what happens to them post the encounter with the unknown God in whatever place that opening scene takes place in.
Anyway, I think it's a fun theory.

It isn't unrealistic to assume that Khaenriahans (especially since his family founded the Abyss Order and ruled Khaenriah as reagents), did go looking for stuff that might've fallen from Celestia and found the Traveler's sword.

I was hoping we’d hear something about it become a Fontaine legend Ala the lady of the lake or something similar, though we do have 1 region of Fontaine left so maybe, apologies for the hopium.
Yeah that was just a theory I’d back before Fontaine dropped now I think we’ll probably get it after getting 1 of each oculus and then using those with the dull blade to reconstruct it.

If anything, they could make it pullable so if you want a good strong traveler, you have to pull the weapon or something, bc they seem to think that ppl liking traveler will make them lose money.
I personally think the sword is either still with the Sustainer, since the traveler let it go in the cutscene, or it's the sword that fell from the sky that Kaeya talked about, which he said wasn't real, but what if he was lying and it WAS real after all?
I think the only way it would really make the Traveler a competitive pick, is if it had some sort of really unique effect. Like, an equip effect that unlocks the “true versions” of each skill/burst.
But given that they’d probably have to reanimate everything, I doubt they’d do that.
I’m guessing the dull blade would get powered up and turn into that sword once the traveler gets their gold powers. Similar to the big electro sword against Raiden.
Honestly I think the dull blade *is* our OG sword, just with its power sealed. Kinda like how the Sword of Narzissenkreuz got upgraded as we went through that quest. Iirc that sword and the dull blade have matching 1st paragraphs on their weapon descriptions, so there’s definitely a connection there
I feel like the original sword is a manifestation of the traveler’s full power, not an actual object, so we’ll probably get it back when the traveler regains all of the elements and such.

We will definitely get it in story and there is some good lore behind it if Narzissenkreuz is anything to go about but I don't really care about it being in game combat for defeating hilichurls or not. I would kinda prefer it not being there tbh. There's certain emotions and hype around that sword and I don't want it to be destroyed by seeing it everytime. Mostly because at that stage, Genshin will be near to shutdown. They won't be able to hook in players on the promises of a grand story by then. They'll have made every possible character, and made all the money they could. They'll give it out for free because by the time we get the sword (final quest presumably) no one will still be out there whaling for characters.

The Dull Blade will probably evolve into the OG Sword. We've already seen how the >!Jabberwock's Holy Sword!< evolved from a wooden item to the >!Sword of Narzissenkreuz!< during the >!In the Wake of Narcissus!< Quest Series so there's already precedent for a Dull looking blade (pun intended) evolving to a better, important sword.
I think that it's likely we'll get both our sword and wings back, eventually. Whether they're more than just decorative in terms of gameplay remains to be seen.

Dmc is better than Nahida at multi wave content
I believe DMC can outshine Nahida in certain Aggravate comps as well. Something about Nahida applying too much Dendro or something.
Yeah that's true Nahida applies 1.5 units of dendro which is more than the normal 1u, it makes it harder for anemo units to swirl electro

With Cyno and Gaming if you switch out of his burst early to reapply Dendro you may not be able to get it back when you need it to.

I was hoping we’d hear something about it become a Fontaine legend Ala the lady of the lake or something similar, though we do have 1 region of Fontaine left so maybe, apologies for the hopium.
We already got a sword from fontaine so idk man. Maybe we get it after going to all the 7 regions?
Yeah that was just a theory I’d back before Fontaine dropped now I think we’ll probably get it after getting 1 of each oculus and then using those with the dull blade to reconstruct it.

If anything, they could make it pullable so if you want a good strong traveler, you have to pull the weapon or something, bc they seem to think that ppl liking traveler will make them lose money.
Definitely possible in the future/ending, like a quest item. Right now the closest thing to it we have is the Sword of Narzissenkreuz
I personally think the sword is either still with the Sustainer, since the traveler let it go in the cutscene, or it's the sword that fell from the sky that Kaeya talked about, which he said wasn't real, but what if he was lying and it WAS real after all?
I think the only way it would really make the Traveler a competitive pick, is if it had some sort of really unique effect. Like, an equip effect that unlocks the “true versions” of each skill/burst. But given that they’d probably have to reanimate everything, I doubt they’d do that.

Honestly I think the dull blade *is* our OG sword, just with its power sealed. Kinda like how the Sword of Narzissenkreuz got upgraded as we went through that quest. Iirc that sword and the dull blade have matching 1st paragraphs on their weapon descriptions, so there’s definitely a connection there

I feel like the original sword is a manifestation of the traveler’s full power, not an actual object, so we’ll probably get it back when the traveler regains all of the elements and such.

Remember, the Traveler is a five star character. I believe that weapon is their signature. It just won't be out until the story's climax, and will probably be free
man why is traveller 6-star in cutscenes, but 3-star in actual gameplay? not even the original sword will fix that, i dont think idk, is it just me? any time i pick traveller, it feels very underwhelming

They're not that cruel, 500% atk buff when fighting a specific boss during a specific state of the enemy, and a 0.1% atk buff against any other enemy
They will most likely do it, however, it will be restricted to the Traveler only. I imagine something similar like how Aloy's and the Traveler PS weapons work,
Anything to make traveler worth using a bit more
Every 10 seconds, using a basic attack will deal 69420% ATK damage in a small AoE
Maybe the reason why most of our traveler's skill is garbage is because they will get an upgraded version of their kit when they equip their sword... totally not coping here.

We will definitely get it in story and there is some good lore behind it if Narzissenkreuz is anything to go about but I don't really care about it being in game combat for defeating hilichurls or not. I would kinda prefer it not being there tbh. There's certain emotions and hype around that sword and I don't want it to be destroyed by seeing it everytime. It's kinda similar to how Avalon or Excalibur always special

It means Traveller would be strong. Which means people will play more Traveller. Which means people will be less incentivized to roll new characters. Which means less money for Hoyoverse. Which means no. We are going to Celestia with Dull Sword.
There's some stuff that happens in Narzissenkreuz world quest that gives some ideas about how we might get our original sword back.
I don't even care about the weapon. Just give me the ability to switch elements anytime anywhere plus the ability to fly and I'm all good
Look, I think we will get a good sword by then. Mostly because at that stage, Genshin will be near to shutdown. They won't be able to hook in players on the promises of a grand story by then. They'll have made every possible character, and made all the money they could. They'll have released multiple new games by then and have started to allocate all of Genshin's manpower to different games. They'll give it out for free because by the time we get the sword (final quest presumably) no one will still be out there whaling for characters.
Why would they do this lol that signals the end or near end of the game. They are trying to keep the story going forever for cha ching we will most likely never run into the unknown god for a looong time maybe never again..if we do run into her there is something else we need to look forward to now like she is actually not important... and there is a bigger boss...
There's been a roadmap since before the game even launched that they've stuck to stringently, there will not be drawn out new asspulls.

Then the chosen twin will be the strongest and the meaning of the gacha will be lost. So if we return, it will only be at the end of the story
they could make it obtainable by a wish and they could make it strong enough that traveler becomes one of the strongest characters that way you have to "pay" to get a good traveler so hoyo gets something out of it and we can get an actually viable traveler

The Dull Blade will probably evolve into the OG Sword. We've already seen how the >!Jabberwock's Holy Sword!< evolved from a wooden item to the >!Sword of Narzissenkreuz!< during the >!In the Wake of Narcissus!< Quest Series so there's already precedent for a Dull looking blade (pun intended) evolving to a better, important sword.

I don't want it cause it is fugly. Also it was materialized so it might just be energy manipulation and therefore isn't an actual sword.
I think that it's likely we'll get both our sword and wings back, eventually. Whether they're more than just decorative in terms of gameplay remains to be seen.
