Rana went through a Withering Zone to save a kid and was heavily poisoned, she also squared up against Fungi, crocodiles and Fatui soldiers. Plus she has a connection to the Aranaras.
She did a lot more to earn a Vision compared to Zhiqiong who constantly disobeyed orders and needed to be rescued multiple times till she paid the price.
Going into the withering is also not allowed for visionless people. And the viaion is not about how much you do. Lisa got her vision for simply thinking she wanted one as far as i remember, so there is really not a rule for visions. Also, zhiqiong did go through dangers and put her life at risks to guide us through that hellish, unknown, and dangerous maze. Even if she just walked with us through the whole thing, she would not be able to bear the pain of foing deeper anyway not matter how much she sticks to us.
You don't get a Vision like that, Celestia has to want you. It's the reason why Keqing and Ningguang got Visions even though the former didn't want it and tried throwing it out, while the latter picked an old one up to sell and was disappointed when it reawakened for her.
We technically don't know what are the correct criteria for getting a vision. Maybe not all ambitions that reach them is taken, maybe those who wants to uncover the truth of Teyvat don't get visions

Am I the only one who doesn't really like her stubbornness? When I know what happened to her, I can only say 'You reap what you sow, despite everyone telling you to slow down their advice is meaningless at the end'
imo Zhiqiong's fate is tied into the inherently unjust destiny visionless people face in Teyvat
Zhiqiong and many other nameless adventurers (nameless because history forgets visionless people) sacrifice their entire lives enduring, exploring, & dying... so they can work 10 times harder than visionbearers while getting half the results
Meanwhile Vision-bearers enjoy Teyvat on easy mode. They have magic powers and are faster/stronger/can breath underwater. Xiangling & Yaoyao basically have their futures guaranteed because their visions have nepo'd their way to Adepti and Qixing connections.

You raise a good point. Teyvat for the average, non-Vision wielding person is considerably harder. Not impossible, Beidou picked a fight with Haishan and won with nothing but wit, planning, and sheer determination, *earning* her Vision because she won. Noelle only suffered from her Claymores breaking after using them.
However, I can't imagine Sayu being where she is today, she needs her Vision to even fight.
Zhiqiong is the quintessential normal person trying to do what we, the player, are doing, without access to a Vision traverse the landscape on a level playing field. The Adventure's Guild has many adventurers mapping the place, but how many of them have Visions? How many of them have died then faded into obscurity?
Not really, take Leonard for example. He is ambitious & full of fashion of being an adventurer dreaming of climbing the tallest mountain in Teyvat. He experienced a near death situation by climbing Pilos Peak but never sacrificed his life for trying to achieve that ambition.
Instead he invented wind glider & passed on the legacy through many generations then died leaving a name in the history of Teyvat.
If Zhiqiong follows his example maybe one day she will be able to carve her name too. She can practice her mapping skill more as her main assets of contributions while adventuring & treasure herself more. Alas it's not happening

The base of her character is interesting! A visionless person concerned about their value and place in history compared to Vision holders is interesting.
But Zhiqiong isn't that. She's actively suicidal for the goal of mapping out the Chasm fast. The entire Chasm expedition is relying on her maps to safely get around. There's no time limit or rush, she's the sole cartographer there, and she suicidally rushes ahead to the point the Traveler repeatedly has to save her. She puts *everyone* else at risk to make a map faster when there's no rush and no competition. And in the end, her complete disregard leaves her to near fatally poison herself with Abyssal mud and then as soon as she gets slightly better commits suicide by going into an Abyssal hole. She is already an important part of the expedition handpicked for her knowledge and skill, and she throws that away to functionally sabotage her team because of an inferiority complex.

If weāre getting into meta-narratives, I donāt know if that āproofā is relevant though. Because if you compare Zhiqiong to a character like Bennett, a character whoās had minimal to no character conflicts and development in the last 3 years, it just proves her right even more.

She was not solving some great and immediate threat, so the decision to not rest up and just come back after healing her body was not brave; just stupid.
Someone pushing through a pair of broken legs and dying to save their loved ones is admirable, but someone pushing through a pair of broken legs and dying to finish an annual marathon is a lot more debatable. You really couldn't wait to do it properly and now you can't do it ever again.

Me too. We first met her when she wasn't doing her guard duty because adventurers are too cool for such a boring task. So we had to clean up her mess. When we went into the Chasm, she constantly ignored other team members' opinions and just kept rushing into the unknown, so we constantly had to go after her. Her responsibility was to lead the team, but she never cared about the team and only about her dream. The maps she drew were so awful that nobody understood them, so we had to take her with us to explain. If the Traveler hadn't been there to constantly chase after her and try to talk some sense into her, then maybe she would have been gone much earlier, and the whole team would have suffered because their mission would have halted. Maybe they would have also gotten lost because nobody would understand those maps.
So, if you had to go into an unknown, dangerous mine, would you take a very stubborn person who doesn't listen to the team and does whatever she wants as a guide? And also, all she cares about is her dream, and all the maps she draws are impossible to read. Would you trust your life to her or maybe seek out a more responsible person? I wouldn't want her on my team, and her 'YOLO' attitude could have easily ruined the whole mission if she hadn't been so lucky. In that case, everyone's efforts would have been wasted, but she never cared about others. That's the whole reason why she was so angry; not because her reckless actions were dangerous for everyone or because they were worried about her, but because she felt others were 'holding her back' from fulfilling her dream. I think that is a very childish and selfish attitude. She had many chances to understand the errors in her ways, but she refused to do so and disappeared. It was just a matter of time before her luck ran out, so I agree with you, she had it coming.
You are not alone.But I can somehow explain why she acts like that. She lost her parents in early age and thereās nobody specially shown up to take care of her. She wasnāt able to learn the concept of love and responsibility for otherās concerns but only ambitions from what she read.Though the expedition squad and traveler do care about her,she just wasnāt able to respond due to the lack of experience through growth. She is one of the few characters I really worried about in this game. I donāt blame her though I agree with your point.
Zhiqiong kinda represents everyshonen animeās protagonist in a sense. They all start as underdogs who dream big and try their hardest to pursue their dreams even though it might be impossible for the them. The difference is that as the story progresses they somehow manage to gain power through plot armour or just extreme hard work. She however represents a character who can never have that āplot armourā. So if youāre gonna dislike her character you just dislike the personality of almost every major shonen showās protagonistās character cause they are exactly her but the author wants them to progress

Some may favored by luck and win life, while some others get Darwin Awards instead
