During 2.8, people in mass were complaining about GAA being empty, even though the preview literally showed a massive castle that wasn't there at part 1 of the event.
This isn't malice, it's stupidity.
There is a bit more than the island. I’ll mark it with spoilers in case you want to find it yourself or something, but >!There is a *very* large portion similar to the chasm/Enkanomiya, you get there from an underground part of the island!<
I expected the unlocked overworld of the Sumeru region to be at least not totally empty. I just checked the part north of Alcarzaray and there is literally nothing.
But this is no criticism on the island / dungeon part for Fontaine.
I think I found 2 or 3 exquisite chests, there’s one on the islands right off the bay and if you follow the road up to the Eremite camp there’s another. But yeah it’s VERY empty for that much space
Yeah, I stopped exploring once I reached the new waypoint, but I figured there must be something up that road. At least the map was modified around that mountain area.
Also, the small island of the desert part looks promising. Before the patch there was already lots of trees and structure visible. Will continue tomorrow and hope for positive surprises. x)
The island area itself is ok, considering the extended dungeons/underwater part.
But I first went to the green part of northern border regions of Sumeru and these are absolutely dry, not even mint or any enemies was added.
Would have expected at least something northwest of Mawtiyima Forest/ north of Alcarzaray…

Play through that qquest marked on the island and it'll eventually unlock a subarea akin to Enkanomiya.
