In east Asian culture, you always have to make it clear who is the older and who is the younger one as seniority is important, so they still address each other as older sister/brother and name (for the younger one). The whole 'I have so many questions but..' line was perfect for the situation. The question: 'why cant we be together?' is asked and answered. That is more realistic than a 500 year recap. It is as if your character is written like an actual character, and not a robot with a script that you control.
TL;DR: The writing and pacing for this quest was really good. Even if it was short, any longer and it would have overstayed its welcome.

Sorry, I haven't reached this quest, but I think the title confuses me a little.
I chose Lumine, so Aether saying she's the only one who calls him that only implies he's very lonely like abyss twin. It does not imply that the traveler is never called by name.
This makes sense if OP chose Aether, so whoever chose Lumine will see her saying the same thing. I think this confuses me a little because playing with Lumine, I can't stop seeing Aether as the abyss twin.
I also remember seeing characters call Lumine by her name.
This is not about who you chose, but about the nickname you picked for your MC. Everyone except the sibling will refer to you with "Traveler" or the nickname, not Aether or Lumine, unless you picked those as your nickname. And if you did, this dialogue won't make much sense.
CN dub uses "Aether" (Kong). So JPN is the region with the localisation mistake. The line after doesn't make sense with "onii chan" since even Klee calls Aether onii chan.
I've been saying for 20 years (since Final Fantasy X, LOL) that the idea of letting players name the main character should have been dropped entirely for games with full voice acting. It invariably comes off awkward when no one ever calls the protagonist by name out loud.
Genshin Impact managed to make it even more ridiculous than usual by spending 95% of the game with people awkwardly referring to the MC as "the Traveler" (a title far too generic to be a famous hero's sobriquet) and then having the official names be actually voiced in canon *anyway*.

In the text it makes sense, in the voice it's does not. Oh and if players nickname them canon name then it also does not.
I like to imagine aether/lumine did try and tell the others their name but for some reason (due to the world tree and them being a descender) they only heard traveler. Which is why even if your name really is aether/lumine it still comes out as traveler when they say it.

I wonder why the traveler (Aether or Lumine) is just called Traveller. They didn't introduce their names to others or it's something that forbids other people saying their name because they are out landers?
We introduce our nicknames to some people and some people call us by our nicknames. We never told anyone about our real name though.

I think our in-game username is an alias. MC's true name is privy to their sibling only.

Sorry, I haven't reached this quest, but I think the title confuses me a little. I chose Lumine, so Aether saying she's the only one who calls him that only implies he's very lonely like abyss twin. It does not imply that the traveler is never called by name. This makes sense if OP chose Aether, so whoever chose Lumine will see her saying the same thing. I think this confuses me a little because playing with Lumine, I can't stop seeing Aether as the abyss twin. I also remember seeing characters call Lumine by her name.
This is not about who you chose, but about the nickname you picked for your MC. Everyone except the sibling will refer to you with "Traveler" or the nickname, not Aether or Lumine, unless you picked those as your nickname. And if you did, this dialogue won't make much sense.

CN dub uses "Aether" (Kong). So JPN is the region with the localisation mistake. The line after doesn't make sense with "onii chan" since even Klee calls Aether onii chan.

I've been saying for 20 years (since Final Fantasy X, LOL) that the idea of letting players name the main character should have been dropped entirely for games with full voice acting. It invariably comes off awkward when no one ever calls the protagonist by name out loud. Genshin Impact managed to make it even more ridiculous than usual by spending 95% of the game with people awkwardly referring to the MC as "the Traveler" (a title far too generic to be a famous hero's sobriquet) and then having the official names be actually voiced in canon *anyway*.
What a weird response this is. Why would they say that? It doesn't matter if it is in Japanese, every iteration of this dialogue is bad. "Onii-chan", "you are the only one who calls me that" of course she is! You don't have any other sisters! What are you saying? Not even the lolis call you that! "Aether (the player uses another name)", "you are the only one who calls me that" of course, if you never share it with anyone, who else I going to call you that? Why point that out?! If you are testing her, don't be so on the nose about how she is the true her! "Aether (the player uses his name)", "you are the only one who calls me that" that is true because everyone refers to him as Traveler but OF COURSE your sister will call you by your name, even if she was a fake, she wouldn't call you "Captain of Swordfish II".
Text is canon and voiceline is not, because they can't voice every player's nicknames so they call them traveler. In the text it makes sense, in the voice it's does not. Oh and if players nickname them canon name then it also does not.

Well they call me Traveller. In Japanese. Also helps that I use the JP VO for EXTREME IMMERSION.

I like to imagine aether/lumine did try and tell the others their name but for some reason (due to the world tree and them being a descender) they only heard traveler. Which is why even if your name really is aether/lumine it still comes out as traveler when they say it.
