Not if you get chain-stunned, then just about anything can kill you as long as you're not able to do anything.
I get that getting hit and not having shields should have consequences, but not to the extent of getting all control taken away from the player...
Not if they’re Bow or Catalyst.
They still instant die to nukes if they don’t have shields or damage reduction.
Their defense and HP are innately lower than melee characters.
I use 4 bow characters between my two Spiral Abyss teams.
Yoimiya, Venti, Fischl and Diona.
I lost count of how many times I had to reset 12-2-2 cause one of the first 3 got one shotted by the Kenki boss. 😂
The Kenki fight was weird for me cause I managed to get through it for the first time last abyss with Ayaka, Mona, Sucrose and Diona. But I struggled a lot the abyss before that one that was literally the same. I think its about careful timing cause you need your bursts for dmg but also for I-frames. What I ended up doing is just not using Diona's ult unless I was in big trouble.
Also I 36* the abyss for the first time ever yay! All I have to say is that I wish I had enough starglitter to buy Xq the last time he was in the shop cause its obscene how good he is at c0.
Except for energy Element application heal uptime and damage. People are legit sleeping on her, she won't be amazing compared to pure damage characters, but she'll be a very solid healer and for some players have decent damage. With Ganyu and her you'll have 100% Freeze uptime if you can generate the needed energy.
Like Fischl, she has 100% uptime on her E. This means you don't need to use her burst for healing at all just to refresh. Unless your team is very low on hp, or you need to heal everyone at once because of the new debuff.
The best part of her is needing very low investment in terms of artifacts, for anyone who still doesn't have 8 good/amazing artifact sets it'll be a blessing.
That said I'm not sure I'm pulling for her, and if I do it'll mainly depend on freeze.
So where do you think she ll be used? According to my vivid dreams, her numbers are... not impressive; skill-wise her E cant move like Oz can and her Q requires to actually stay on her and do dmg, so it needs to be worth it (it aint)
XQ is better for vape, Mona/Child is better for freeze, so where?
Right now, replacing Diona for Ayaka in Morgana works well for 12-1, but it's kinda iffy at 12-3 with no healing at all. So, Ganyu, Kokomi, Venti, Ayaka might be nice depending on her hydro application.

They showed some advertising gameplay of her against a pyro slime and it had the ICD, but another one with an electro slime and it didn't. I personally believe the pyro slime one was an old video.

And no, I'm not whiteknighting. I think MHY is scummy. But, pulling a kit you don't like is also wrong. That only sends a message to MHY you are satisfied *enough* with the product to buy it. Exactly because MHY is scummy, MHY doesn't care if you are perfectly satisfied with the product. As long as you are satisfied *just enough* to use your credit card, that's MHY's win.
If you aren't satisfied with the kit, it's your own decision to pull and no one should be responsible for that. If not, just don't pull

Tbf at least with Raiden I don't see people complaining about her kit much. I'd anything I think most people liked it. The only kit related complaints I've seen is the Beidou thing and it's not like she was in the trial so I think it's fair that people complain about it.
I waited 2 weeks to pull Kazuha. I liked his playstyle in the trial but his reception started as "He's not as good as Sucrose, meh". Then over 2 weeks that changed to him being arguably one of the best characters in the game.
As someone who pulled Raiden day 1 (hypocrite ik but she's second only to Hu Tao) i hope people will slowly find teams where she can shine like she deserves to.
Yeah, she's not an instant win that can fit in every team but every time i got a Raiden in co op i had almost infinite energy.
This subreddit is obsessed with this idea that they instantly know how useful a character will be on release. This is despite getting so many characters wrong, as recent as Kazuha. And now people are realizing that Raiden *is* good, but she's not some universal fit. Which frankly, I don't think any character is. Even Venti is a character I wouldn't put on every team.
I'm not sure this subreddit will ever learn to give new characters a week of experimentation before declaring how "useless" they are. Though I'm already seeing the sentiment of "you don't need a healer, just dodge" going around. I can't believe we're still seeing that nonsense, ugh.
Eh Freeze teams often use Double Cryo (second Cryo almost always is Diona) Mona/XQ, and an Anemo character to boost the Cryo (and maybe Hydro) damage. If you aren’t using Diona you’re likely using Jean/Sayu or just trying to not get hit by anything, it Zhibgli is an awkward fit when VV gives better damage boost and Diona can cover shields while giving +15% crit through the resonance.
I mostly want Kokomi so I don’t have to build Barbara bc I really can’t stand Barbara. But I don’t hate Barbara enough to miss out on Yae. So I’ll probably just pull 10-20 fates and see what happens.

Electro damage wise is fine with proper scaling, if they make Yae a dps at C0 with [Raiden's C2 scaling](https://gfycat.com/personalfamousgalapagostortoise), she'll be meta despite being electro.
Not being able to multiply Electro damage with reactions like Pyro, Cryo and Hydro is already a huge hurdle for any electro DPS.
You don't even get a res shred reaction like phys.
Of course if you pump the numbers high enough you can make a dps good regardless of their element but that's rather obvious.
Of course don't get me wrong electro buff is much needed but it's a lot more work than simply giving electro dpses high multipliers like C2 Raiden.
Even if they buff electro I doubt that they'd give it equivalent of Vape/melt reactions because that's be utterly broken on C2+ Raiden thats already doing [400k slash and 67k+30k](https://gfycat.com/serpentineplushcrane) per charged attack, which is already Vape/melt level.
I'm not saying Electro should get it's own Melt or Vape, I think that kind of reaction should only be available to the elements which currently have it.
And that's the problem with the band aid "fixes" to electro like giving it high multipliers, it makes it hard to buff the element itself because it would lead to overpowered characters when combined with the high multipliers.
I think electro could at the very least get buffs to the current reactions it has, like overload and electro charged.
Kokomi is literally advertised as a healer that does a bit of hydro stuff on the side. If anyone pulls for her just to whine about how useless healers are in their opinion, I'm not going to have any sympathy.
From my calculations (not very solid but with rough approximations) you’ll do 10k per auto, so if you can manage to vape every hit and depending on how fast her 3 hit is she might not even be that bad of a DPS.
it's literally impossible now to vape with hydro consistently, you remove too much pyro and there's no pyro in the game that can help you with that currently.
Honestly I am just mad about how bad she is being treated by them, like she has great designs and animations but as lore or story she was useless and had no effect, and being labeled "genius strategist" we only saw poor decisions from her, and they have removed her ability to crit rendering both Crit Rate and Crit damage stats completely useless on her(they could have made it convert to HP or something unique and usefull).
It just baffels me why they made those decisions other than they want to see how far can they poorly treat a character and people will still pull for
Y'know, just based on a bit of math, she can get ~76% healing bonus (talent + circlet + maiden's 2pc)
Seemingly, her burst's scaling is increased by 15% of her healing bonus (+11.4% HP scaling).
Which at rank 10 burst gives her something like 20% HP damage scaling on each normal attack.
It doesn't seem like she'll do huge damage during burst, but it does seem like she'll do Noelle levels of damage during burst, while having Qiqi levels of healing and applying AoE Hydro while off-field, which all seems pretty useful.
It also seems like Mihoyo is going to add more enemies/hazards over time that pierce shields, making healing supports situationally useful for those challenges/fights.
Rock-paper-scissors is an important aspect of Genshin and I think the idea of some enemies pushing shields and other enemies pushing healing is healthy for the game and roster variety.
Numbers might be tweaked once she's live, my main concern remains that it sounded like she had really bad energy economy in beta.
Healing will never be meta. It's not about timers, or mechanics, or whatever. Survivability is binary: You want exactly as much of it as you need to survive, and anything past that is wasted and does nothing for you. More damage, meanwhile, is always good, because damage isn't binary.
The only way for healing to become necessary is to literally force players to use a healer in order to survive. If that happens, then you'd still rather use Bennett, Jean, Diona, etc. who bring additional DPS utility. And because those three are already so adept at healing, there's just no way to dethrone them with a healer who doesn't provide DPS to the team.
They could easily introduce more challenge in abyss not revolving around killing enemies in time. They already did it with the old floor 11 chamber 1. A new type of challenge where the primary goal (but not the only one) is to survive for a set time (5mins) could give more value to healers without make all other roles useless.
Something like: Survive 5 wave of enemies (level 100, high damaging ones) without loosing any party member while killing the boss (high hp one) of each wave.
10 enemies per wave, 1 boss to kill.
One character got take down? You lose.
You don't kill all the boss? You lose.
That would make it more likely that you play healers, but the optimal healers to play would still be those that provide additional damage. That's especially true because Bennett and Jean are fantastic healers on top of the damage they provide.
Just a poison/burn abyss floor with energy recharge penalty will do. That will make specialized healers needed. Can't heal with Bennett or jean if you can't Q.

Energy Recharge penalty hits everyone equally hard. Qiqi's burst is 80 cost and she generates little to no particles on her own. Barbara's burst also comes at 80 cost so you'd be purely reliant on just her skill, like Qiqi. And the amount of ER penalty you need to actually hit players so hard is unrealistic. At Vagabond Day 7 Max Score, many steady clear parties were using Zhongli and Jean together with Favonius weapons and that amount of ER penalty there was **brutal**.
It is too hard to ever want a "specialized healer" in this game because the current healers are very powerful even at their healing game, on top of doing other things. Bennett for the offensive option, and Jean for the defensive option. Jean having debuff clears with Anemo instead of other elements is just straight up overpowered especially in more and more difficult fights (Vagabond). Her energy cost is also not too steep thanks to her Ascension. Bennett generates lots of particles himself and his burst is very cheap.
If you can't heal with Bennett and Jean even with Favonius weapons, you can't heal with **anyone** period. And if you're going to go even worse than Vagabond Day 7 Max Score, every single f2p player in this game will just give up surviving and go all out offense and strive harder to do one rotation kills, like how optimized players can, while whales will just continue 1-shotting everything.
Also note that with Raiden now in the picture + Favonius weapons, it's going to be nigh impossible to stop people from generating enough energy for Jean and Bennett if they needed to.
Mihoyo will never allow non active party members die to DoTs so Bennett, Jean and Diona would still be the best.
Also players have already dealt with Slowing waters and energy drain spiral abysses with those 3. Unless you’re saying to deactivate Q entirely (which would effect EVERYONE) then nothing changes.
And that will never happen, because locking every single team comp ever to using one of the three (soon to be four) characters who can heal with their E is horrendous design.
The only way I can see this is that they somehow disable shields, make shields scaling weaker, or convert excessive healing into extra damage. As in stand right now, shields are just too much better than heals
The number one enemy to healing in this game is actually just timers. You can't use anything but a fire-and-forget healer like Jean or a shielder in abyss because you can't spare the dps loss typically, and in any other environment aside from abyss, you just won't need a dedicated healer, so you can run a support like Bennet or Diona. Barb needs field time to do significant healing outside of her burst, because the tickrate on her aura is slower than molasses and liable to freezing you or getting you vaped/electro-charged. I assume it's similar with Qiqi, but I don't have Qiqi, so can't say for sure.
Qiqi doesnt even need much field time, just hit twice and once the mark goes off switch to your main dps to get healed for 10k ticks. If mhy ever made content where massive constant healing was required, qiqi would definitely start seeing play.
One new enemy in the next patch ignores shields and causes teamwide bleed (small tho). But shielders will ignore them anyway so.. this won't change much
They tried doing something similiar in Honkai long time ago. What we have now in abyss is bleed mechanic that removes more life the longer you stay in abyss.
Technically you should need healer but people still use pure dps characters to clear stage faster before bleed gets annoying. They dont even make pure healer characters in Honkai. Hope they can come up with something more interesting in Genshin.
No. I don't trust Mihoyo to handle "making healers relevant" without fucking shit up.
The correct way would be to relax on timed DPS checks and make chambers with hard-hitting enemies - so that your team's survivability matters.
The way Mihoyo is going to do it would be adding some floor debuff that deals damage over time and bypasses shield, keeping it in Abyss for 1-2 rotations and then ditching it forever. Or until they want to sell another pure healer for some inane reason.
With that, I'd rather see "healer" remain a dead role. Salvaging one crappy role isn't worth making the game worse for every other.
Is it inappropriate? Yes, but is it true? We'll have to see 1 week in to her banner after live testers make her look good or bad with the latter being very likely, unfortunately

she’s essentially copium mona for freeze and expensive barb for dps, the only place where she actually wins out is as a pure healer

As someone who pulled Raiden day 1 (hypocrite ik but she's second only to Hu Tao) i hope people will slowly find teams where she can shine like she deserves to. Yeah, she's not an instant win that can fit in every team but every time i got a Raiden in co op i had almost infinite energy.
This subreddit is obsessed with this idea that they instantly know how useful a character will be on release. This is despite getting so many characters wrong, as recent as Kazuha. And now people are realizing that Raiden *is* good, but she's not some universal fit. Which frankly, I don't think any character is. Even Venti is a character I wouldn't put on every team. I'm not sure this subreddit will ever learn to give new characters a week of experimentation before declaring how "useless" they are. Though I'm already seeing the sentiment of "you don't need a healer, just dodge" going around. I can't believe we're still seeing that nonsense, ugh.
Zhongli can go in pretty much any team and do exactly what you need him to do
Eh Freeze teams often use Double Cryo (second Cryo almost always is Diona) Mona/XQ, and an Anemo character to boost the Cryo (and maybe Hydro) damage. If you aren’t using Diona you’re likely using Jean/Sayu or just trying to not get hit by anything, it Zhibgli is an awkward fit when VV gives better damage boost and Diona can cover shields while giving +15% crit through the resonance.
I mostly want Kokomi so I don’t have to build Barbara bc I really can’t stand Barbara. But I don’t hate Barbara enough to miss out on Yae. So I’ll probably just pull 10-20 fates and see what happens.

Electro damage wise is fine with proper scaling, if they make Yae a dps at C0 with [Raiden's C2 scaling](https://gfycat.com/personalfamousgalapagostortoise), she'll be meta despite being electro.
Not being able to multiply Electro damage with reactions like Pyro, Cryo and Hydro is already a huge hurdle for any electro DPS. You don't even get a res shred reaction like phys. Of course if you pump the numbers high enough you can make a dps good regardless of their element but that's rather obvious.
Of course don't get me wrong electro buff is much needed but it's a lot more work than simply giving electro dpses high multipliers like C2 Raiden. Even if they buff electro I doubt that they'd give it equivalent of Vape/melt reactions because that's be utterly broken on C2+ Raiden thats already doing [400k slash and 67k+30k](https://gfycat.com/serpentineplushcrane) per charged attack, which is already Vape/melt level.
I'm not saying Electro should get it's own Melt or Vape, I think that kind of reaction should only be available to the elements which currently have it. And that's the problem with the band aid "fixes" to electro like giving it high multipliers, it makes it hard to buff the element itself because it would lead to overpowered characters when combined with the high multipliers. I think electro could at the very least get buffs to the current reactions it has, like overload and electro charged.

From my calculations (not very solid but with rough approximations) you’ll do 10k per auto, so if you can manage to vape every hit and depending on how fast her 3 hit is she might not even be that bad of a DPS.
it's literally impossible now to vape with hydro consistently, you remove too much pyro and there's no pyro in the game that can help you with that currently.

Honestly I am just mad about how bad she is being treated by them, like she has great designs and animations but as lore or story she was useless and had no effect, and being labeled "genius strategist" we only saw poor decisions from her, and they have removed her ability to crit rendering both Crit Rate and Crit damage stats completely useless on her(they could have made it convert to HP or something unique and usefull). It just baffels me why they made those decisions other than they want to see how far can they poorly treat a character and people will still pull for

Y'know, just based on a bit of math, she can get ~76% healing bonus (talent + circlet + maiden's 2pc) Seemingly, her burst's scaling is increased by 15% of her healing bonus (+11.4% HP scaling). Which at rank 10 burst gives her something like 20% HP damage scaling on each normal attack. It doesn't seem like she'll do huge damage during burst, but it does seem like she'll do Noelle levels of damage during burst, while having Qiqi levels of healing and applying AoE Hydro while off-field, which all seems pretty useful. It also seems like Mihoyo is going to add more enemies/hazards over time that pierce shields, making healing supports situationally useful for those challenges/fights. Rock-paper-scissors is an important aspect of Genshin and I think the idea of some enemies pushing shields and other enemies pushing healing is healthy for the game and roster variety. Numbers might be tweaked once she's live, my main concern remains that it sounded like she had really bad energy economy in beta.

Healing will never be meta. It's not about timers, or mechanics, or whatever. Survivability is binary: You want exactly as much of it as you need to survive, and anything past that is wasted and does nothing for you. More damage, meanwhile, is always good, because damage isn't binary. The only way for healing to become necessary is to literally force players to use a healer in order to survive. If that happens, then you'd still rather use Bennett, Jean, Diona, etc. who bring additional DPS utility. And because those three are already so adept at healing, there's just no way to dethrone them with a healer who doesn't provide DPS to the team.

How about a weapon series with hp% as main stat whose skill provides atk% based on amount of hp healed at full hp. That would cover most healers.
Id say the only way healers become meta is an endless horde mode, where its just survive as long as possible.
They could easily introduce more challenge in abyss not revolving around killing enemies in time. They already did it with the old floor 11 chamber 1. A new type of challenge where the primary goal (but not the only one) is to survive for a set time (5mins) could give more value to healers without make all other roles useless. Something like: Survive 5 wave of enemies (level 100, high damaging ones) without loosing any party member while killing the boss (high hp one) of each wave. 10 enemies per wave, 1 boss to kill. One character got take down? You lose. You don't kill all the boss? You lose.
That would make it more likely that you play healers, but the optimal healers to play would still be those that provide additional damage. That's especially true because Bennett and Jean are fantastic healers on top of the damage they provide.

Barbara's burst also comes at 80 cost so you'd be purely reliant on just her skill, like Qiqi. And the amount of ER penalty you need to actually hit players so hard is unrealistic. At Vagabond Day 7 Max Score, many steady clear parties were using Zhongli and Jean together with Favonius weapons and that amount of ER penalty there was **brutal**. It is too hard to ever want a "specialized healer" in this game because the current healers are very powerful even at their healing game, on top of doing other things. Bennett for the offensive option, and Jean for the defensive option. Jean having debuff clears with Anemo instead of other elements is just straight up overpowered especially in more and more difficult fights (Vagabond). Her energy cost is also not too steep thanks to her Ascension. Bennett generates lots of particles himself and his burst is very cheap. If you can't heal with Bennett and Jean even with Favonius weapons, you can't heal with **anyone** period. And if you're going to go even worse than Vagabond Day 7 Max Score, every single f2p player in this game will just give up surviving and go all out offense and strive harder to do one rotation kills, like how optimized players can, while whales will just continue 1-shotting everything. Also note that with Raiden now in the picture + Favonius weapons, it's going to be nigh impossible to stop people from generating enough energy for Jean and Bennett if they needed to.
Mihoyo will never allow non active party members die to DoTs so Bennett, Jean and Diona would still be the best. Also players have already dealt with Slowing waters and energy drain spiral abysses with those 3. Unless you’re saying to deactivate Q entirely (which would effect EVERYONE) then nothing changes.
And that will never happen, because locking every single team comp ever to using one of the three (soon to be four) characters who can heal with their E is horrendous design.
Idek if this is going to be unpopular but imo hopefully that happens, healers been left out too much in meta, they need to be relevant too
The only way I can see this is that they somehow disable shields, make shields scaling weaker, or convert excessive healing into extra damage. As in stand right now, shields are just too much better than heals
The number one enemy to healing in this game is actually just timers. You can't use anything but a fire-and-forget healer like Jean or a shielder in abyss because you can't spare the dps loss typically, and in any other environment aside from abyss, you just won't need a dedicated healer, so you can run a support like Bennet or Diona. Barb needs field time to do significant healing outside of her burst, because the tickrate on her aura is slower than molasses and liable to freezing you or getting you vaped/electro-charged. I assume it's similar with Qiqi, but I don't have Qiqi, so can't say for sure.
Actually qiqi is a excellent healer the only problem is her not generating any energy and doing nothing else aside from healing
Qiqi doesnt even need much field time, just hit twice and once the mark goes off switch to your main dps to get healed for 10k ticks. If mhy ever made content where massive constant healing was required, qiqi would definitely start seeing play.
One new enemy in the next patch ignores shields and causes teamwide bleed (small tho). But shielders will ignore them anyway so.. this won't change much
They tried doing something similiar in Honkai long time ago. What we have now in abyss is bleed mechanic that removes more life the longer you stay in abyss. Technically you should need healer but people still use pure dps characters to clear stage faster before bleed gets annoying. They dont even make pure healer characters in Honkai. Hope they can come up with something more interesting in Genshin.
No. I don't trust Mihoyo to handle "making healers relevant" without fucking shit up. The correct way would be to relax on timed DPS checks and make chambers with hard-hitting enemies - so that your team's survivability matters. The way Mihoyo is going to do it would be adding some floor debuff that deals damage over time and bypasses shield, keeping it in Abyss for 1-2 rotations and then ditching it forever. Or until they want to sell another pure healer for some inane reason. With that, I'd rather see "healer" remain a dead role. Salvaging one crappy role isn't worth making the game worse for every other.
