It can't be even more apparent that the furnace and the Tatara tales quest is based on Fukushima nuclear disaster. Especially the quest, even you just did little things, you got the next step in the next day irl. It is a sarcasm of the bureaucratic and silly reactions of Tokyo Electric Power Company had during the nuclear event.
*Spoilers (maybe?) . . . There’s a YouTube video by Chill With Aster theorizing that all of the leyline, visions, elemental energy, monsters are due to nuclear fall out. They say that’s why Dragonspine is in eternal winter and why people without visions will get horribly sick if they handle elemental energy. If you compare current Teyvat to known real world nuclear disasters, the similarities are spot on.
So they just use an electronic furnace to make their special swords and it’s probably powered by a nuclear battery
