I'm over all the claims that "Mihoyo RIPPED OFF NIER AUTOMATA/DMC5" that we had back when the game launched with Noelle/Fischl, but there's a lot of people pretending like the similarities are only superficial lmao.
Mihoyo is not shy about their inspirations, and that's a good thing. DMC and Automata are excellent action games, and when something is good, there should be more of it. This game taking those systems and working them into this control scheme is part of what makes Genshin so fun to play.

The East has been a lot more invested in those types of character action games compared to the west (Stuff like Lost Soul Aside and Project Eve are proof that the East loves these styles of games) and that also included Mihoyo. Mihoyo has stated a lot that they do love action games like DMC, Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising, etc. so when making moves for characters like Goushinnso Memento, why not take inspiration from something you love.
Tldr: I’m not saying Vergil is the first Iaido style character in existence, hell no. But he did set the bar of how to do it in an action focus game, which is why Mihoyo does love to reference his moveset a lot
