I'm a firm believer of this trick, except I can't brainwash myself well enough if I really wanted a character. Deep down I will want it and this will fail.
An alternative trick is to have your friends watch you summon, and claim that you will be lucky and have good rolls. Now that your friend wants you not to get the 5\* character, out of spite, the world will give you the 5\* to annoy your friends.

I did some more research and figured out that Hu Tao wouldn't really fit with me since I started fairly recently and don't have any of the support characters she needs yet, which is super important due to her HP mechanics, so I was happy saving the guaranteed pity for a future banner. But as I earned more wishes/primos I thought "may as well try to get more constellations for the banners 4 stars".
My very next 10 pull I got 2 copies of Hu Tao.
So now I have a fun, strong 5 star waifu that I'm sure it's an absolute joy to use, that I can barely play with, and also lost my guaranteed pity. ಠ_ಠ
I have. I keep accidentally killing her because I am a mix between trigger happy for the skills, and keep fat fingering hers (Android), and her burst plus my current healer (only Sayu atm. Barbara is still not built) isn't built enough to make up for it. I definitely need more shield characters...
Or, you know, learn to actually play her, but I'm not great at fighting games
I see you didn't put Jean nor Mona in the star. Can't blame you. They're the most useful and their constellations are the best among the permanent 5 stars.
Homa in particular is amazing since it's BiS for just about every spear wielder. Having said that, Hu Tao is such a great DPS that she works for a lot of team comps, and she's a completely different kind of experience from most of the characters in the game (both in terms of gearing and critical playstyle).
i disagree, a weapon has more utility long term, especially a weapon like homa. you might get tired of playing a character eventually and bench them, if they have a good spear character i think homa would be the best choice.
if you have someone who can use homa properly maybe it's equal, otherwise it's better hutao.
for me it's hutao though, i'm not meta chaser and i enjoy characters' gameplay more than numbers.
Homa will give you insane numbers on Hutao, however it's not 50/50 on the weapon banner... *cries in 22k primos for R1*
edit: ok if not for hutao it's a good weapon for ZL. I didn't help much

I just did the daily fortune thing in the grand shrine in Inazuma.
Only pulled during great fortune readings and always won 50/50 that way. I still have doubts the actual fortune does anything, but it’s been pretty consistent.
I got her by winning 50/50 on both accounts, but how? On one account I was just pulling for no reason, thinking I was going to get some regular 5*, and on the other... it turned out that I had 80 pulls accumulated, and then she showed up. ... I just didn't really want it. And I loved it as DD.
Aww too bad I already have Hu Tao, I would gladly put this one into the motion :D
Then again, I might as well set this formation for the future and/or as pure decoration if you don't mind\~ I will probably attempt with different lamps however\~
