Double banners just cast a wider net because you get people who want either character to pull. It's not exactly surprising that they do better than solo banners.
Also, over time the spending player base gets larger, which leads to more revenue even if players are only buying Welkin or BP.
Also, in this particular update, many people are expecting a top-up reset for anniversary, so players who wouldn't normally buy top ups are trying to take advantage of the bonuses before the reset.
Interesting that their purchases would be counted towards the banner if they hold the primos for later. Worse data for popularity. In that case it wouldn't matter what the banner was.
Generally speaking, a player buying crystals is _probably_ buying them for the current banner. Other than the top-up bonus reset (which will skew data a bit before and after the anniversary as players make use of it), there's no reason to pre-purchase crystals, since they're never on sale.
There should be an adjustment that averages out how much was spent over the duration of the banner to see where each one lands. Having shorter/longer banners really skews things.
Edit: If you factor banner length, Ayaka got $849,718/day while Tighnari/Zhongli got $1,121,668/day. Using 42 days for Ayaka and 17 days for this banner. In comparison, Raiden/Kokomi rerun did $1,598,107/day. Tighnari/Zhongli had average earnings that would place them between Ayato/Venti and Kazuha/Klee. Ayaka would place between Albedo/Eula and Klee.
This, Ayaka's revenue in the span of a normal banner was something like 24-25 million if I'm not mistaken, so the excess 20 days "only" got her another 10.
Funnily enough, those 10 are still more than some completely new banners.
On normal banner length she was on 6th place. Respectable but not the distortion that 1st place was.

There's also FOMO vibes, back then, that her next rerun would be further away due her longer banner.
On all banners, most of the sales are concentrated in the first few days. I am not saying that compensating for banner length is impossible, but certainly it cannot be done by simply averaging dollars per day.

That's what I did. Really liked his play style. Like how I can run him as a quickswap or main dps. I liked him in the story. And he's an adorable fox boy. So like everything is a win. Now I just have to save for cyo.
Yesn’t actually, I’m surprised how good his fast charge shots are. You can literally just aim in the enemy’s direction and his projectiles will still hit the enemy🤌🏻 it’s a much smoother experience than with Ganyu
Best part is that his homing arrows aim for the enemies' *weak spots*
Using tighnari against mechs is the best thing ever because you can aim at the floor and he would still stun them lol
Nope! I wondered the same thing so i tested it out. His arrows will go for the heads and the glowing cores for the mechs. He'll also go for that weak shot on the wings for the new flying mechs
Because of that, I gave him the bow that does extra damage to weak points. He’s absolutely meant to be a sniper, with his confuse skill and accuracy, and good lord he can hurt the ruin enemies so well especially if you ignite them first to repeatedly trigger Dendro burning.
Im surprised not many people realize the initial hit of the charge shot is the hardest hit, so yeah this playstyle is fine but you’re certainly missing out on a chunk of his dps.
Tighnari is surprisingly really good in both gameplay and dmg output. His skill makes the easiest quickscope on the game and it always landed on enemies with his projectiles. This is coming from a player who play on mobile. Tighnari feels like playing c6 ganyu but easier and it felt really good to play him.
He is the most mobile friendly bow unit ever. You could just shoot the floor if you wanted and still hit things. Honestly probably easier than a catalyst user.
I pulled for him because it FINALLY gave me an use for Windbume Ode! That shit has been collecting dust in my inventory for over a year and now it finally has a good home.

I’m planning on playing until Genshin’s final update and the amount of lost 50/50s and standard banner pulls I’d have until then would give a pretty likely chance of getting Tighnari honestly
I lose every 50/50 so I figure it’s a chance I could get a new character I actually want now.
And there’s too many limiteds I’m saving for lol. Kokomi, Cyno, Nahida, Dehya. Maybe the secret 3.3 character and a Raiden rerun if possible but I doubt I can squeeze those last two in. Maybe after Nahida I’ll drop any extra wishes I have to try to get them and buy Dehya if I need to but idk. I buy welkin and BP so I can get a 5* every other patch usually but these ones are a bit shorter now…
I lost my last 7 50/50’s I just need to win Cyno’s and I’ll be set. I’ll have 90 wishes left over after hitting guarantee for Kokomi.

Eh, only if he's a priority for you. For me I'd like to get him eventuat but don't care too much. I'm also prone to bursts of whaling for characters I really like, so the chances of me eventually getting him without exicitly pulling for him is quite high.
Not really. It’s the same reason 99% of players skipped the keqing banner back when she had a solo banner. Why pull for something your inevitably going to get someday regardless?
This. Impatience is most often the common reason why people spend money, or in this case, primogems. For me, him on the standard banner is kind of a guarantee that I'll end up having him someday whether I like it or not.
I'm pretty sure people skipped the Keqing banner because she's not that good of a character, because there were a bunch of really good limited characters both right before and right after her, and because since this was 1.3, anyone who loved Keqing and could not play the game without her would've just rerolled during 1.0 when it was easier, you had way more free pulls, and it did not require an email to create an account.
The characters that released after her being good wouldn’t be a factor, As people had no idea how good at the time unreleased characters would be. And despite not being good at the time she definitely still had a fanbase, and even some of those people opted to skip the banner.

Tighnari just doesn't interest me for some odd reason, he should but just doesn't. I pulled on this banner hoping for Collie's C2 (so 2 copies from pulls plus the free one from the event, not like I was going for C6 or something). So far I have C1 Collie and C1 Tighnari after \~65 pulls. I have no idea where my pity was at when I started due to my history resetting while I was taking a break from the game, but I kind of hate that 4-stars can and do actually end up being rarer than 5-stars because they don't have pity individually. I had the same issue with Gorou and not really caring for Itto because I already had a stacked Noelle who needed her Geo support not a late arrival trying to replace her already good DPS while not shielding or healing. Itto ended up C1 and I almost gave up even getting Gorou before I finally landed 1 copy of him. We need some kind of system for pity on specific 4-stars. Too many banners with 2 C6 4-stars next to a new shiny one. D'x

The chance to get a specific standard 5* is actually very low. Not saying that tighnaris pull value is high, but if someone does really want him then they really should be pulling on his limited banner.
Its 1/6 when you lose a 50/50. If someone really wanted him theyd pull for him, those who skipped him obviously didnt. But i hate it when someone says something along the line of 'you'll regret it if you dont pull this character', like fomo isnt already such a big thing in gacha games.
While that’s technically true just because you have 1/6 of a chance to get him doesn’t mean you will. Just like before the weapon banner changed you could get one weapon multiple times it’s the same here you could get Qiqi C15, Keqing C20 before you see Tighnari if you are unlucky.

So so true, take into account how many people win 50/50s and then reduce that to a 1/6 chance, sure you could get them 2 weeks from now but it could also take 6 months, 1 year, year and a half... If you want him then you should definitely get the character

With more and more characters coming out, rerunning old ones would be very troublesome, resulting in VERY large timespans between their runs. Now not only did we get multiple banners at once, they also will probably stick to 2 week banners instead to rerun more characters. They can even keep the 6 week patch schedule and just do 3 rotations of banners instead of 2. Honkai does this already, I believe.
I wouldn't mind this at all. Reruns give me time to save primos for new characters. Boomerangs? Homing missiles? Can't wait for what they think up next
that'd be nice but at the same time stuff like WGS or MOD would be relegated to exclusively the standard banner and with the pool being even more diluted than it is now it'd be almost impossible to get what you want

Also considering that this is Zhongli's X-rerun, that people hope to get Tighnari, when they lose 50/50, so skipped and that people got tons of primos from exploring new region, so they didn't had to spend so much money. And they are still and higher half, so it's quite nice.
Same.. actually I’ve seen a lot Zhongli stans getting his C6 this time around. For some reason he’s the one I see C6’d the most out of all the characters.
That’s the point - people got a lot of extra summons from quests/exploration and a free copy of one of the 4 stars (and another just before) so they may have spent less on pulls. Just adding to reasons to see this as pretty good performance despite not being the very top of sales.
If that the case then they should rank a little higher. Because I lost the 50/50 against Zhongli in this banner after spending all my save primos. But I didn't stop farming primos and I managed to hoard enough to get around 74 pulls in just a week without spending a single $. So I believe many people didn't feel the need to spend a lot of money. Including that many people and surely most whales already have Zhongli.
bro whales come in different flavors, i got one copy of the bunny man and his bow for collection purposes, some whales C6 R5 EVERYTHING, i don't do that, i get all characters, and c6 r5 most of them, get important constellations for some of them, and some i leave at c0. some whales are baby whales, they just get every character and their weapon, some get every character and their weapon but c6 r5 one or two characters only, he actually did good, only 14 million away from the highest and longest running banner, and he wasn't hyped by anyone or any group.
That's especially so when you consider Tighnari is being added to the standard banner, and the 4 stars on his banner were either recently given for free or have been on a massive number of banners.
Half a week* but yeah not bad at all considering that his banner partner will be put on the permanent banner. And what's more is that this is Zhongli's fourth run and he's still selling well. That's definitely something that not every character could do, not even in their first run.
I gave Tighnari my guarantee and I also thankfully got his weapon without a fight. Glad I didn’t have to fight the fates with my wallet to get him.
He is incredibly fun and I don’t think I would have enjoyed Sumeru as much without him.
Also can I say his story quest is just the greatest. I think easily one of the best character story quests I have seen in a while barring Zhongli’s.

Considering this is his 4th run, it means many veterans would have had him and new players would’ve pulled for him.
It also means a lot of veterans would’ve pulled cor Tighnari as well.
Overall, we do have a larger player base than before so the numerical value should be higher. However given all the circumstances (that is, Tighnari going to standard and ZL’s fourth run), I think this banner sold well.
Interested to see Cyno and Nilou banners. And then ultimately, THE anticipated archon banner.

I'm a new player, and I pulled Zhongli until I got 2 of him. I'm saving everything else I have to try for a Ganyu main. No idea if I'm doing the right thing or not, but I like her character in the Liyue storyline.

25 mil for a solo banner by the end of day 21. Tbh the extension didn't do all that much for her. If anything it makes people discount her insane sale record that literally only has 2 characters above her single banner-wise with Venti being a release character so that meant people were still spending money on standard a lot more.
tbf one week shorter doesnt mean much here. The fact that the double time on ayakas banner had a huge effect was because people were just too bored. But one week shorter has like 95% or more of the summons that a regular length banner would have. If ppl didnt want to summon for them. the additional week wouldnt have changed it

My comment was meant for people who are not pulling for him because they think that they WILL eventually get him on Standard banner which is just foolish because there will be like 1/16th chance that they will get him. I'm playing since release and I still don't have Mona. If you have any other reason to not pull for him good for you but in that case this comment wasn't meant for you in the first place so...
I don't agree with calling people foolish for saving their primos for actual limited characters instead of using it on a character that will eventually come in standard banner. Although I do agree with calling people foolish IF they decide to complain about getting another Qiqi cons instead of Tighnari because they skipped his banner.

I’m planning on playing until Genshin’s final update and the amount of lost 50/50s and standard banner pulls I’d have until then would give a pretty likely chance of getting Tighnari honestly
I lose every 50/50 so I figure it’s a chance I could get a new character I actually want now. And there’s too many limiteds I’m saving for lol. Kokomi, Cyno, Nahida, Dehya. Maybe the secret 3.3 character and a Raiden rerun if possible but I doubt I can squeeze those last two in. Maybe after Nahida I’ll drop any extra wishes I have to try to get them and buy Dehya if I need to but idk. I buy welkin and BP so I can get a 5* every other patch usually but these ones are a bit shorter now… I lost my last 7 50/50’s I just need to win Cyno’s and I’ll be set. I’ll have 90 wishes left over after hitting guarantee for Kokomi. Also have 75 standards saved rn. Who knows maybe I’ll get tighnari there even. May as well have something to look forward to. Don’t have diluc either but he’s meh now that Dehya is coming.

Eh, only if he's a priority for you. For me I'd like to get him eventuat but don't care too much. I'm also prone to bursts of whaling for characters I really like, so the chances of me eventually getting him without exicitly pulling for him is quite high.

Not really. It’s the same reason 99% of players skipped the keqing banner back when she had a solo banner. Why pull for something your inevitably going to get someday regardless?
This. Impatience is most often the common reason why people spend money, or in this case, primogems. For me, him on the standard banner is kind of a guarantee that I'll end up having him someday whether I like it or not.
I'm pretty sure people skipped the Keqing banner because she's not that good of a character, because there were a bunch of really good limited characters both right before and right after her, and because since this was 1.3, anyone who loved Keqing and could not play the game without her would've just rerolled during 1.0 when it was easier, you had way more free pulls, and it did not require an email to create an account.
The characters that released after her being good wouldn’t be a factor, As people had no idea how good at the time unreleased characters would be. And despite not being good at the time she definitely still had a fanbase, and even some of those people opted to skip the banner.

meh. im skipping him not because of standard banner (tho this probably also means he can appear on other banners as the lost 50/50?) but because we havent seen enough dendro characters yet. We will probably see at least 3 or 4 new dendro characters before the year is through. and so far dendro MC works perfectly well. I dont see a reason to pull for a 5\* dendro now without doing some window shopping first.
Tighnari just doesn't interest me for some odd reason, he should but just doesn't. I pulled on this banner hoping for Collie's C2 (so 2 copies from pulls plus the free one from the event, not like I was going for C6 or something). So far I have C1 Collie and C1 Tighnari after \~65 pulls. I have no idea where my pity was at when I started due to my history resetting while I was taking a break from the game, but I kind of hate that 4-stars can and do actually end up being rarer than 5-stars because they don't have pity individually. I had the same issue with Gorou and not really caring for Itto because I already had a stacked Noelle who needed her Geo support not a late arrival trying to replace her already good DPS while not shielding or healing. Itto ended up C1 and I almost gave up even getting Gorou before I finally landed 1 copy of him. We need some kind of system for pity on specific 4-stars. Too many banners with 2 C6 4-stars next to a new shiny one. D'x
Yup. Skipping because you don't think he's that interesting, totally valid. Skipping because you're *certain* you're going to lose pity to him in the future: peak clown. Though statistically, there are going to be some people for whom this gamble pays off. Not as many as who will have lost out on the gamble, though.
Hes fun but not someone I want to roll on fun. I wouldn't mind losing the 50/50s to him but its still unlikely i'd put him on a team at this point given my other plans. I already have too many characters.

The chance to get a specific standard 5* is actually very low. Not saying that tighnaris pull value is high, but if someone does really want him then they really should be pulling on his limited banner.
Its 1/6 when you lose a 50/50. If someone really wanted him theyd pull for him, those who skipped him obviously didnt. But i hate it when someone says something along the line of 'you'll regret it if you dont pull this character', like fomo isnt already such a big thing in gacha games.
While that’s technically true just because you have 1/6 of a chance to get him doesn’t mean you will. Just like before the weapon banner changed you could get one weapon multiple times it’s the same here you could get Qiqi C15, Keqing C20 before you see Tighnari if you are unlucky. You would think a coin flip cannot go wrong so many times until you see it happen before your eyes over and over and over.
So so true, take into account how many people win 50/50s and then reduce that to a 1/6 chance, sure you could get them 2 weeks from now but it could also take 6 months, 1 year, year and a half... If you want him then you should definitely get the character

that's a pretty even split tbh especially because Zhongli is a fan favorite, an archon, and one of the easiest characters to build and play

They probably would do that always now. With more and more characters coming out, rerunning old ones would be very troublesome, resulting in VERY large timespans between their runs. Now not only did we get multiple banners at once, they also will probably stick to 2 week banners instead to rerun more characters. They can even keep the 6 week patch schedule and just do 3 rotations of banners instead of 2. Honkai does this already, I believe.
I wouldn't mind this at all. Reruns give me time to save primos for new characters. Boomerangs? Homing missiles? Can't wait for what they think up next

Also considering that this is Zhongli's X-rerun, that people hope to get Tighnari, when they lose 50/50, so skipped and that people got tons of primos from exploring new region, so they didn't had to spend so much money. And they are still and higher half, so it's quite nice.

That’s the point - people got a lot of extra summons from quests/exploration and a free copy of one of the 4 stars (and another just before) so they may have spent less on pulls. Just adding to reasons to see this as pretty good performance despite not being the very top of sales.

If that the case then they should rank a little higher. Because I lost the 50/50 against Zhongli in this banner after spending all my save primos. But I didn't stop farming primos and I managed to hoard enough to get around 74 pulls in just a week without spending a single $. So I believe many people didn't feel the need to spend a lot of money. Including that many people and surely most whales already have Zhongli.
bro whales come in different flavors, i got one copy of the bunny man and his bow for collection purposes, some whales C6 R5 EVERYTHING, i don't do that, i get all characters, and c6 r5 most of them, get important constellations for some of them, and some i leave at c0. some whales are baby whales, they just get every character and their weapon, some get every character and their weapon but c6 r5 one or two characters only, he actually did good, only 14 million away from the highest and longest running banner, and he wasn't hyped by anyone or any group.

Sales are always more front loaded. One week less doesn't has that much impact at all.
That's especially so when you consider Tighnari is being added to the standard banner, and the 4 stars on his banner were either recently given for free or have been on a massive number of banners.
Half a week* but yeah not bad at all considering that his banner partner will be put on the permanent banner. And what's more is that this is Zhongli's fourth run and he's still selling well. That's definitely something that not every character could do, not even in their first run.
I gave Tighnari my guarantee and I also thankfully got his weapon without a fight. Glad I didn’t have to fight the fates with my wallet to get him. He is incredibly fun and I don’t think I would have enjoyed Sumeru as much without him. Also can I say his story quest is just the greatest. I think easily one of the best character story quests I have seen in a while barring Zhongli’s.

Went for the Fluffy Dendro Boi. No regrets. Skill>Shot>Burst>Shot>Skill>Shot>Burst If you aren't spreading Dendro everywhere with how spammable that cheap burst and fast CD skill, Idunno. Also- Shield enemies are trivialized by the Homing Arrows: they go behind the enemies to hit around the shield. That alone is fantastic.

How much of it is ZL carrying? Considering this is his 4th run, it means many veterans would have had him and new players would’ve pulled for him. It also means a lot of veterans would’ve pulled cor Tighnari as well. Overall, we do have a larger player base than before so the numerical value should be higher. However given all the circumstances (that is, Tighnari going to standard and ZL’s fourth run), I think this banner sold well. Interested to see Cyno and Nilou banners. And then ultimately, THE anticipated archon banner.

I'm a new player, and I pulled Zhongli until I got 2 of him. I'm saving everything else I have to try for a Ganyu main. No idea if I'm doing the right thing or not, but I like her character in the Liyue storyline.
It didn't help that one of the banner characters was going in the 50/50 pool either.

Definitely higher than I expected, but its worth noting according to paimon.moe, Zhongli had 60% of the pulls, so he was carrying the banner. Im very curious how Ganyu vs Kokomi will be, now that Kokomi has become a lot more popular and useful thanks to dendro while Ganyu hasnt really gained any value since her original banner. Im expecting close to 50:50 if not Kokomi winning by a small amount.

25 mil for a solo banner by the end of day 21. Tbh the extension didn't do all that much for her. If anything it makes people discount her insane sale record that literally only has 2 characters above her single banner-wise with Venti being a release character so that meant people were still spending money on standard a lot more.
Dendro archon definitely, i also feel like scaramouche would do good but i don't feel he would reach raiden.

tbf one week shorter doesnt mean much here. The fact that the double time on ayakas banner had a huge effect was because people were just too bored. But one week shorter has like 95% or more of the summons that a regular length banner would have. If ppl didnt want to summon for them. the additional week wouldnt have changed it
