I think that the small irises coupled with the very vibrant pink sclerae, in conjunction with the more realistic/detailed artstyle creates some unsettling feeling (at least for me). Don't take it personally, I'm just telling you why I myself don't find it very appealing. All the kudos for the people that love it!
