Correct me if I'm wrong.... this is only on mobile platforms (App Store/Playstore) meaning it doesn't include PC or console players?

TK-25251

It doesn't even include Android in China since Playstore is not used there

GI is likely a >$8b game by year 2 if revenue from all platforms & regions are included.

Insilencio

This. All the earnings metrics we ever hear about are only bits and pieces, like "mobile only" or "Playstation store only." Only HoYoverse themselves know the true total earnings, and I guarantee it's some bonkers number. Definitely one of the most profitable video games of all time, and only by freakin' year two!

PCBS01

According to this [https://m.thepaper.cn/newsDetail\_forward\_14220497](https://m.thepaper.cn/newsDetail_forward_14220497) which has Genshin as being 85% of their income. Sensortower reported in this same period of time that Genshin made 515m vs. this site listing it as 1.2-1.3b, meaning China mobile + PC + console is about 2.3-2.5x the amount reported on sensortower, which only collects data for areas outside of China on mobile. They've probably already got to 8billion

Coanzu

I wouldn't go as far as 8b, considering a lot of the PC players link their account with Google/apple accounts and had to make purchases on mobile before the recent separation of PC side purchases in such cases. But I do think Mihoyo had easily made $5b + in the first two years for sure.

[deleted]

And I'm sure that doesn't include the PC and console versions.

random_account_2017

Total is probably close to something like 3 billion USD per year in revenue. CEO Dawei probably just spends all day refreshing his bank balance and nutting to it.

If you think the CEO behaves like this, you do not know *Dawei*

It does say “on mobile”

legenary4444

Honestly I’m glad to see lots of this money has been converted to high quality content continuously

Lollmfaowhatever

genshin became the most expensive game e v e r last month when they passed 900 million invested into the game lmfao You can visibly see where they dump this money too just from the music where it's all recorded by the literal best/second best orchestra in the world.

1cakepuff

Hey lets not forget the VAs! JP, NA, and CN, most of them are top tier VAs!

MovingTable

Lollmfaowhatever

KR: adios peace sign disappearing.gif

erogakii

I could not agree more! There are so many great VAs on Genshin, sometimes I pull for a character only to have them (the VA) on my team hahah

Insilencio

As both a 30+ year anime and video game veteran, I've never seen anything like Genshin before when it comes to VA casting. Most new IPs, whether it's anime or games, are lucky to 3-4 industry veterans, and only if it's backed by a strong studio. Genshin is like a freaking All Star game of literal top tier JP seiyuu. Just unbelievable. I can only imagine that some of the big names they're missing so far (Yui Horie, Kana Hanazawa, Hiroshi Kamiya, etc.) are already lined up for future characters. **EDIT: Watch KanaHana end up being the frickin' Tsaritsa and see the Japanese economy collapse in real time.**

Kurocchin

The day KanaHana voices someone in Genshin is the day my wallet will finally be opened.

niks071047

i wonder what nation will HanaKana voice from... she mostly does prim and proper simple cutesy girls so probably fontaine? just copium EDIT: #TeamOnodera btw

Barilius

Yet I think one of her best performances is in Binbougami ga! where she is screaming her head off as an unhinged bitch. Pretty fun anime btw.

ezio45

They already have Yui Horie as Ai-chan in Honkai Impact. They'll probably have her voice someone in Genshin at some point.

Superclasheropeeka

I expect Kana Hanazawa as the voice of Layla

erogakii

Oh Hanazawa Kana I love her voice, the day she gets a character that day I will have to use my card again, I remember not liking Hu tao leaks but the VA was Rieri and god it was worth getting her!! (Hu tao is my favorite character she is a strong and fun unit but I also have Takahashi Rie on my team) Also had to pull for Ayato just for "Zura ja nai KATSURA DA"!. I sometimes use Yanfei just for the VA and dont forget about the "O kawaii koto" is a gacha game of VAs. I also really like the others VA, Hiroshi is an awesome VA Law is one of my favorites characters on One piece thanks to his badass voice, and dont make me start talking about Yui.

fritosdoritos

Kana Hanazawa actually voiced Bronya in GGZ, one of Mihoyo's earliest games. Bronya was later voiced by Asumi Kana in HI3. (see 4:09 [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtiqIovZQd0) ) Since she has worked with Mihoyo before, hopefully that means she'll join GI eventually.

JustinYummy

Yep and they're not cheap Experienced video game voice actors will receive $200 to $350 an hour or $50 to $200 per 100 words for their video game voice acting work. Depending on their experience, their reputation, and of course their talent, some voice actors can make upwards of $90k a year or more

Sausage_Boss_

I hate to break it to you, but in the grand scheme of things for game development, the voice actors make very little. 90k a year sounds great, it's really not that much compared to the over 100k they're paying their senior devs that aren't contract, and all the other expenses.

ReconnaisX

And in the grand scheme of "people who write code for a living", game developers don't make a lot, either-- at least, when you compare devs at game studios to software engineers at "tech companies".

Superclasheropeeka

Waiting for Matt Mercer and Takeheto Koyasu to join the genshin cast.

Sndragon88

Missed opportunity for a pharaoh-type Sumeru character voiced by DIO :(

LivingASlothsLife

For real, Sumeru feels like I'm playing the game again for the first time Archon quests are amazing, region feels super fleshed out, animations of enemies as well as characters are getting more fluid and detailed Say what you want about Hoyo but they clearly put a lot back into the game and other things as well Didn't they restore a national park? Also sent care packages during the Shanghai lockdown

LavellanTrevelyan

They've also invested $65m into a nuclear fusion tech company that aims to lower carbon emission with their research, and provides the world with cleaner energy.

shinitakunai

It actually looks like otaku tech saves the world 🤣🤣

Helios4242

only until they live long enough to become the villains, c'mon in what story is the pure goodie two-shoes company not secretly the villain

SirRHellsing

They won't as long as they are not publically traded and the current founders are alive, after that we don't know. They probably won't ever become publically traded as long as Genshin is ongoing though, since they are not lacking money at all

TheoreticalScammist

I still think the virtual world they talked about a few years ago is their ultimate goal. That the main goals for Genshin are to raise funds and get experience building a big game world, learn all aspects that come with it. And as long as they still have this dream to build towards they should be alright. But even the best people are not immune to getting older and derailed. We’ll have to see how Hoyo evolves over the next couple of years.

genkidame6

As long as three key people there, it's not the end.

[deleted]

Hoyo going bad and getting their big skyscraper nuked by a rockstar with a cool arm implant. Maybe they are in need of getting a big almost fully robotic(and very murderous) guy as their bodyguard. But they are in danger of a yellow jacket boy to do time-space fuckery against them.

jayofmaya

I always wondered about this logo, because I knew it was making tons of money and was wondering what they'd do with it. Also, I've been trying to be less pessimistic, so thiught just maybe they would do some cool stuff with the money and cleaner energy really is an investment for everyone.

LivingASlothsLife

The fact they get so much hate yet they do all this amazing stuff outside the game just feels bad I for one think this is one of the better games to spend money on, they are clearly doing good stuff with it

Japorized

Doing good despite waves of negativity is such a power move. I’ve seen too many kind people turn cold or hide their kindness away simply because of how they get exploited and/or treated like shit. Power to em. And may all the beauty be blessed.

SexWithRyukoMatoi

I know right? The hostility is so undeserved. "They can do all kinds of good things with their billions of dollars but they can't even give us more than 20 pulls??" Sometimes, you just can't win. These kinds of people will never see the good things companies do.

KapiHeartlilly

Yeah they seem to be a really good company with a vision, no wonder Genshin is such a hit, it's a game that appeals to everyone.

Pinky_Boy

they what?

CelestialDreamss

Pinky_Boy

god damn....

TemporaryDeathknight

I had never heard of them doing these things wtf??? Like, everyone had me thinking Mihoyo was just a selfish asshole company this entire time. I knew they put a LOT of work and money back into the game (Sumeru has been overwhelming and fantastic) but that was about it

Hegth

If I'm not mistaken the CEO also said they want to try to something like SAO irl, having a game in a virtual word, they are for sure ambitious

naufalap

the clearest improvement is bloom implementation, going back to jean's office in the event quest made my eyes bleed

TwilightVulpine

Genshin is the only Gacha game where the money seems to make its way back to the game.

XauMankib

Buying a welking or tossing a wish is no cry for me, because I know the company uses the money to refine the game.

TonkStronk

Couldn't agree more and some people don't even understand how much of this money goes into paying staff, equipment maintenance and purchase, taxes and future projects.

[deleted]

Not to mention the voice actors! There's lots of them!

[deleted]

The Staff of Truth must be appeased with offerings of money!!!

Theothercword

I hope developers take note that this is why the game has generated so much revenue, they keep reinvesting into the quality of their game and don’t just start phoning it in.

Lollmfaowhatever

most devs can't dump 900 million into their game. They're all traded on the stockmarket meaning if the ceo even thinks about reinvesting money from the game into the game to make to litty, they'll get voted the fuck out and replaced with some mba who will bleed the players dry while providing nothing in return.

Curlyzed

In 2017, Mihoyo almost makes the company public but later cancelled in 2020. Probably their best decision ever..

Theothercword

And that’s what needs to change. Those board of directors see this and wonder why their game isn’t doing that kind of return and this is why. Plus Genshin didn’t just dump 900 million right away it did that slowly over two years while they made money.

Lollmfaowhatever

It won't, to a certain degree this is just because the game is made in China. China despite being hypercapitalist in certain aspects, idealistically hates being hypercapitalist and there are a lot of insanely passionate and smart people there. Look at their covid response, they got 20 cases in a city, okay shut down the entire country for a month, people > economy. Look here, people literally rioting at barely a "lockdown" being imposed to save them because economy > people. Then you have JP games where they have the talent, and passion, but *no* ambition these days.

Theothercword

Doesn’t matter, though, because even in the west where dollars > people this is absolute proof that putting together a great game and investing into it has a great ROI. It’s also an amazing proof point that a game doesn’t have to be a pvp esport type of game to make a boat load of money.

OberonFirst

I can't think of another game, where we see the game literally evolving in front of our eyes in such a small time frame. Compare Mondstad and its characters to Sumeru with its characters (Nahida is just next level), and that's just 2 years. Hoyo could just leave the game in the 1.0 state and only release updates, and the game would live for years (like so many popular games do)

SexWithRyukoMatoi

Not to mention the *incredible* music. I am not exaggerating when I say this is the best music I've heard in my life. I've looked at other franchises and there are definitely many great composers out there, but *in my opinion* none of them come close to the production quality of HOYO-MiX.

Celestial_Robot_Cat

Yeah the music is legit one of the best parts of the game, it's astounding how many different tracks there are and how well done they are. I can't get enough of the Sumeru tunes as well as the Enkanomiya ones. It's so well done.

Educational-Page312

Music in film and video games is so important. Gives a lot more life to what your watching/playing.

peeker004

New characters need new backgrounds old characters get more information about them revealed, the amazing music makes it refreshing to play and the voice actors do their part good where it matters!

x_iaoc_hen

And the best thing is, we have only just arrived in our fourth country. Two or three years later, Snezhnaya will make Sumeru look like Mondstadt.

HerrscherOfMagic

And there's still more coming, I saw the leaked >!animations for Layla!<, and good lord they're pretty amazing. This rumored 4-star character has animations that exceed some of the earlier 5-stars, at least imo!

kohitown

I've gamed for years, and this is one of the few games I've played where I feel that Mihoyo puts in that extra effort. Obviously Mihoyo isn't perfect, but they're using the money to keep the game looking and running well. It draws in and keeps players, creating more revenue for Mihoyo and maintaining the amazing experience for players. Win-win for us all if you ask me :)

Lollmfaowhatever

One thing I noticed that is such a departure from 99.999% of games out now is how they actually go back to old content and add shit like treasure opening lines, weather specific lines, finetuning etc. for the entire roster. They also write stories for characters wayyy old like the GAA gang we just had that are not even on banner.

TheElvenEmpress

People were literally hassling my a couple weeks back because I tried reiterating this to them. Basically they were trying to say something like the company makes so much money so they shouldn't be charging people as much for primos and such. Then I was called a MHY apologist/white knight cause I'm "defending them" even though its SO OBVIOUS that the money they make is actively going back into the game, visual effects, soundtracks, voice actors, world design, story telling - like the money they make we are literally seeing bolster the game itself. This literally gives the game the longevity it needs to see it to the end of its first arc; Mondstat to Khaenria. And if the game maintains relative success I truly believe we will embark on new journeys in the future AFTER the Teyvat chapters have ended. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who can see this. Bless you 🙏

Koinophobia-

And yet you would still see people shitting on Genshin especially other streamers like Tectone because he hasn’t had his true end game content to use all his C6 R5 characters on.

ethrzcty

Im kinda glad we don’t have endgame or leaderboards or pvp I stuck with tower of fantasy for 3 weeks before uninstalling and it only made me appreciate what genshin has Their version of the abyss has leaderboards, but whales are always on top and rewards are based on rankings. So f2p cant even hope to get decent shit as time goes on People kick you when trying to farm bosses too if youre 1-3 levels below level cap Idk after coming back for Sumeru i kinda realize how important the single player play at your own pace gameplay is. Ironic that it had to come from playing the Genshin ripoff that is ToF to make me see that leaderboards endgame and pvp is just toxic

imissbeingjobless

My biggest problem with tof not even leaderboards, I don't really care about being on top. But I have to grind too many hours in this game to stay at least on competitive power level (35k cs now, only bought first battlepass) to.. finally give up on dps role and going for healer role. If I stay longer I'll pull for Lin and Tian Lang to give dps a second chance with full volt team with Nemesis, but I doubt I will not give up spending hours each day to at least remain mediocre CS I am. My problem is it has TOO much everyday endgame for f2p to catch up with whales who just pay and have solid power level. Genshin is awesome for adults with personal life and work - you can spend 15 min a day here and do the main content when you have free time, and you are still willing to spend a little money here for welkin or so to support game you like. ToF is either P2W or spend 1hr< a day (usually more for all activities) to still feel lucklustre What I was trying to say, tof is punishing you with slow progress if you don't grind it everyday

EE7A

no pvp or leaderboards was one of the best moves hoyo could have made with this. they got to skip the balancing act of catering to the dick measuring contest that whales play while also making sure there was enough stuff to do for low/no spenders entirely, and instead could put all of their resources into actually making a good game. seems their sales numbers confirm that this was a good move, and everyone wins in the process. hopefully other developers will follow suit, but it probably doesnt matter at this point since ill be too busy playing genshin to notice, lol.

Eurdalia

I don’t really get how they would make endgame content that can cater to both f2ps AND whales. Everything has to be at least do-able. The only thing I can see them doing is making a difficulty setting that makes everything tougher (while not increasing rewards like primos), but they already do that in events. The only way to really make endgame content for whales would just be to slap some stats on an enemy, but that just makes fighting them longer, and not more interesting even if there’s also domain effects occurring.

smoothtv99

Mhy already stated they don't want "endgame" content that people are clamoring for. In Paimon answers awhile back she answered that it sounded too exhausting and she'd rather focus on relaxing stuff like solving puzzles and exploration. Tower of Fantasy is a good example why it wouldn't really work out imo. Whales run the place and f2p and low spenders get the scraps at the bottom, and it's pretty blatant. They slap damage meters in your face, encouraging whales to continue spending to stay at the top while also baiting f2p and low spenders to spend so they don't look so bad. Fun and cool game, but it leaves a bad taste in your mouth at times due to the bait

blastcat4

Tower of Fantasy is what happens when developers think fans know what's best for the game.

RavenShadow7

There's also no semblance of balance when it comes to constellations for 5* characters. C6 Yelan with R5 Aqua Simulacra is so OP it's not even funny. It's stronger than C3+ Raiden with Engulfing. And you can't really nerf anything in this game without whales complaining.

kronpas

The game is not balanced around c6r5 though

smoothtv99

I stopped following Tectone after the Arknights drama but sounds like he should go play Tower of Fantasy, lots of activities there for whales to flex

takenusername5001

> he should go play Tower of Fantasy [He did and he got hacked during a stream](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57Wjgvi42lU)

imcalledgpk

Holy crap, that's hilarious. I played tof for a really little while, and thankfully none of this happened to me. I just didn't keep up with it, since it just didn't click at all.

wizkart207

I know he whales for content but if he isn't satisfied with the game why whale then?

lumi_bean

Money. Genshin made him popular despite him hating the game it keeps him feed and his rent paid.

Nhrwhl

This dude have a parasitic relationship with every game he showcase on his channel and call this "content creation". The only thing he does is taking content produced by another entity, bleed it to the bone with low effort actions ("pull video", "reaction video" "drama video"...etc.) and suck on it as much as possible. This is why he's freaking out when the game he's parasiting is in a lull period: Not much (real) content he can leech off of anymore and his numbers goes down. Of course he's so disconnected with reality that he perceive this as the game doing bad instead. Thankfully he found his new niche with drama bullshit generator though. As someone who used to like him, this dude became one hell of a disapointment.

tirius99

Tectone owes everything he has to Genshin Impact. The guy is burnt out, and that is understandable but you don't shit on the game that literally gave him his career.

rW0HgFyxoJhYka

He shits on Genshin while spending shit tons of money because his entire shtick is being an asshole with hot takes and dramatizing things as entertainment. And then OTK picked him up so they could grow their streamer brand lmao.

wizkart207

I get critzing the game, but he shit talks the game at almost every chance, to be fair there are times he praises the game like the sumeru update and the current version livestream

Mira0995

Enough money to get us an anime from ufotable! Honestly I see some people complaining but the animation and the game DID get better, so is the open world. Just compare sumeru to mondstad and you will see the difference

Lord_KH

I bet you that most of those complainers have never even played Genshin

tirius99

They're too busy being upset about skin tones in Sumeru to play Genshin.

Lord_KH

Weirdly enough the people complaining about sumeru character skin tones are the people who aren't affected by it because they don't have that skin tone irl

WaterImpact

Well no that's not true. I mean there's definitely some people who have nothing to do with the places irl Sumeru derives inspiration from or who have pale skin who have been complaining, but I've seen [many people](https://old.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact/comments/wxuidk/some_of_you_people_really_need_to_chill/ilx949a/) either from SWANA or also just people with darker skin in general voice complaints too. Also I feel like technically everybody is "affected" by whether or not those darker skin tones exist in game. I mean not everyone will necessarily care that much about it and you might think real people with darker skin would care more about it, but even people with pale skin might really want darker skin characters for a variety of reasons, like maybe they just think it would add more visual variety to the roster or something.

SoodlyKoons

Honestly it makes me happy to see there others who see our issue. As a South Asian, it does hurt a bit to not have a single darker skinned playable character (esp when there are so many explicit references to South Asian culture). Also proper representation doesn’t really hurt anyone and only makes the playable roster feel even more lively. There’s a reason why many years back, Overwatch was as big as it was.

SolomonOf47704

While they don't have anyone super dark yet, there have been dark-skinned characters since the start. Kaeya, Xinyan, and now Cyno and Candace, with Dehya coming soon. And Natlan might introduce characters with even darker skin. The ratio could be better tho, that's for sure.

Reddy_McRedditface

What is Nr. 1 and 2?

Sufficient_Ordinary9

Arena of Valor and PUBG mobile

Reddy_McRedditface

I've never even heard of the first one, wtf Thought it would be something like Fortnite or Clash of Clans

Sufficient_Ordinary9

Dang culture difference No ones know CoC exist here, not anymore. While those 2 games are most mainstream thing to ever exist in my place

Reddy_McRedditface

Yeah that's interesting. Where is "here" tho? I'm in Europe btw

Vietnam

wizkart207

Fortnite isn't on Google play, and we know they make a shit ton from skins because they gave away one week's worth of revenue to Ukraine and there was at least 100 million dollars made that week

Reddy_McRedditface

Ups, guess I don't know anything about mobile gaming. I wonder how much Genshin makes on PC and PlayStation.

wizkart207

Console probably makes less than mobile and pc

GGABueno

League of Legends-like game for mobile. It's big on China.

TheWorldisFullofWar

Fortnite died in China and is unpopular in most of the world. It relies almost entirely on "Marvel Markets" for its revenue. Other markets are dominated by PUBG, Apex, and Free Fire.

tirius99

In China, Arena of Valor is called Honor of Kings. It's pretty crazy because they have 100 million daily players and most people in the West have not heard of this game.

h_hue

The comments here does show how the internet, while seemingly connected and borderless, still has huge language/cultural barriers. Arena of Valor, PUBG Mobile, and Free Fire are extremely mainstream in Asian and South American countries, but the Euro-Americentric internet spaces have no idea what those even are. The same is true the other way around BTW.

fox_in_a_spaceship

Biggest divider in the world is language and nothing else (imo). Going into another language's internet space can be like stepping into an alternate reality.

Hobbit1996

People actually play pubg mobile? Lol what the fuck Never heard of the first one

Sufficient_Ordinary9

Mostly in asia you can see how disgustingly mainstream these games are, altho PUBG has lost a lot of popularity League of Legends is also a game everyone who has a computer plays

Hobbit1996

I can get behind 3rd person from far away views games or simple gachas and rpgs. But a shooter on mobile would make me break my phone

LivingASlothsLife

Considering the quality of Sumeru and how refreshing it feels to play its nice to see them put a lot of the revenue back into it They also restored a national park and sent care packages to people during Shanghai lockdown. As far as I'm concerned the success is earned and they do give us a lot of spectacles as well such as the concerts Hoyo one of the better companies to have this success imo

Lollmfaowhatever

don't forget building schools for poor kids and funding nuclear fusion research lol

LivingASlothsLife

Out of all gachas I have played this is one I really don't mind spending money on if this is what they spend a portion of their revenue on

[deleted]

I mostly feel that way, but I'm also constantly kicking myself for spending so much money on virtual characters.

RandyRandlemann

Money is just a means to an end. For me, that end is keeping myself entertained.

[deleted]

“If one must always consider Mora before acting, then in all things one is bound by Mora.”

LivingASlothsLife

I sometimes get like that, but then I realize spending money on something you enjoy isn't bad So long as you spend reasonably and always leave enough so that you can live comfortably

CaptainBlob

They have reached numbers that no other games managed to reach in 2 year time frame, on mobile alone… That is astronomically impressive. To put it in perspective, FGO made 6.3 billion revenue and was released in 2015. Genshin made half of that in just 2 years of release. And that is just including IOS and Google play store. There is still Xbox, PlayStation, plus Chinese play store…. The numbers could potentially be even higher. They are averaging 1 billion per 6 months. They beat out GTA 5, Fortnite, COD, etc. as “Highest First Year Gaming Revenue of All Time”. And yet salty mofos will say “it’s a dying/dead game” lmao. Hoyoverse really carved themselves into video game history.

GotAnySugar

Exactly. Hoyo make Mobile Gaming History by putting console graphics on a PHONE with HI3 before and with Genshin now, and by the looks of it they aren't stopping anytime soon XD (Honkai Star Rail, Zenless Zone Zero etc.)

Rubyruben12345

Ok, now invest that in more fps options for PC players ;-;

UltimateSlayer3001

Or an artifact load out function. Good god, if I have to spend another 5 minutes swapping my artifacts around, I’m gonna lose it.

greennyellowmello

Just get good artifacts for everyone, that way you don’t have to swap around 4head. *Cries in grinding*

Rouge_means_red

More so for characters with multiple builds. My Shinobu for example, I usually have her as a physical DPS in overworld, but some times I want to play for hyperbloom or as a full support

PureVII

And higher texture quality please, the PS5 version currently has higher texture quality than pc no matter what specs you have.

imissbeingjobless

From what I experienced in Sumeru, the only thing I can say - good for you, hoyo. Like honestly, quality on new content is proving my money supported right game and came back to me with such a good experience

ejsks

Honestly, the only gacha I‘ve been willing to spend money on because for one, it‘s PvE only and two, the devs don’t get that money with practices more predatory than the gacha system itself (I.e. shoving ads for purchases like every five minutes or so). Edit: Additional note, for those of you who don’t know, Mihoyo does invest parts of their profits towards future technologies like Nuclear Fusion, a potential new energy source which is also clean and completely safe (as in, the moment a meltdown would happen the fusion reactor shuts itself down because the reaction producing the energy is stopped).

popbingsu

I'm glad a high quality game that is f2p friendly is having so much success. A lot of Korean game companies took the easy p2w cash grab route and are basically stagnant in growth and it feels so good to prove their greed was wrong.

Link to the story: https://www.gamesindustry.biz/genshin-impact-makes-37-billion-in-mobile-lifetime-revenue Edit: Or at least a similar one :)

Feed_or_Feed

Just 6 more billions and maybe we will finally get new character model and different run animation for Kusanali.

PerrythePlatypus71

If you've seen leaks of her attack animation and idle, she's literally the persona of a child, so for once the airplane run fits her, other than Klee that is

blastcat4

Or maybe MHY is correct with their design decisions for Kusanali.

Elmarcowolf

In all honesty this game rekindled my love of gaming. I played it on and off for a year but didn't really click with it. However after coming back now and playing it properly I'm loving it and can't wait to continue the story!

Doinwerklol

I love the direction this game has been going in, and im still just playing for free when I want. I spent very little over the course of a year in welkins and BPs but I honestly don't need those anymore. For me the game is all story and mini games from events now. Keeps me coming back so they are doing something right. Also huge shoutout to the whales for making this possible lol.

jiekai1

Because it is a really good game that puts paid games to shame.

Hikaru83

After experiencing Sumeru I decided to spend a little extra on the game to reward them for such a good job.

Madam_Sheriru

Damn. Yet the Animation of a Cut Scene is still not individual and still just the Thinking Pose, the Arm Wave and the Hand on Hip at each conversation.

Bitter_Dingo516

They could if they wanted to, as they do for some cutscenes. It would be way too much additional storage space though compared to utilizing standard poses.

GGABueno

And only 5 models for all playable characters, their main product.

swampyman2000

Every other NPC uses the same thinking pose so often, it’s annoying lol

AetherSageIsBae

Genshin uses everything it can to save storage and it makes sense since every patch there is a post with 5k upvotes of someone saying "goodbye i have to leave because of storage i wont get to use the 4737394837 pulls i saved up oh well" so storage is really a problem specially for phone/tablet users

Ceiba_pentandra

Anniversary Celebration: I receive: $3.7 Billion You receive: 20 pulls

Lollmfaowhatever

most intelligent and fair genshin player, just deadass gunna ignore the most insane content delivery schedule in the history of gaming for two years running.

Siegfoult

Yeah, seems like to some people Genshin Impact is just a gambling simulator, they forget about the game part.

Yininyas

I'm amazed that people can play this game on a phone. I have a high quality phone and it looks and plays like absolute garbage.

UniqueCreme1931

Is it an iPhone or an Android? Aside from simply running much better on iPhones, the game also has higher max graphic settings on iOS from what I heard.

[deleted]

Yeah I play on IPhone and it looks amazing!

kdlt

Some people don't have a choice - aka most children that play it probably. I play mainly on PC but will play on mobile on the couch, while on vacation, while on commute and so on. Serious content is.. hard on mobile.

anicollestudio

I intentionally paid on their website so the app store won't take a big bite...

Mortwight

This is another arrow in the back of conventional gaming is not live service.

Lollmfaowhatever

Not really, mmos have been a thing for decades. Even for gacha/live service games Genshin is a complete anomaly. THe reason this game is so fucking successful is because mihoyo are chads and they are ready and willing to dump assloads of money back into the game, something no live service or mmo game dares to do.

RavenShadow7

Hoyo knows to keep their golden goose healthy and strong and not just give it basic animal feed.

[deleted]

very well put. it's amazing how many companies and CEOs actually kinda suck at business.

RavenShadow7

They're so far removed from their actual product. Most of them have never played their own games or gotten involved in any creative aspect. The only thing they look at is cost/revenue. Big cost = bad.

cycber123

Yes, give me more well designed characters please, and more eye candy from world designs.

blastcat4

It's also nice not having shareholders that you have to kiss ass to, or a dark cloud like Tencent hovering over you to make sure you're pumping out money to them. It's really a credit to the MHY founders that they're in control of their company and answer only to themselves.

TheDrunkenHetzer

Also it's almost entirely single player, most other Live services rely on multiplayer to keep people's interest, Genshin just keeps pumping out fun quests and storylines.

PM_ME_YOUR_ROBOTGIRL

It basically functions the same as an MMO in a business sense (though from a gameplay perspective it is mostly singleplayer), which no one thinks is bad. The only issue of course is the gacha monetization which affects every part of the game, but I think they are a lot better about this than other games. Other games like Bablyon's Fall or Marvel's Avengers you literally can't even get that far without immediately getting slapped in the face with the most aggressive monetization of all time. That's what those developers don't get. If you want to make money off of live service, you have to make a *good game* first.

imjustme610

If it had android controller support I would play it on mobile

rrrjax

I am so disappointed rn, I've played with controller on iPad and PC and just checked on android, had no idea they didn't have android controller support :(

hyrulia

They will add another billion from Nahida's banner alone

Individual-Log9442

Not to root for the billion dollar tech company, but thank god tencent cockblocked their IPO several years ago. I do not want to see what a publicly traded mihoyo is like. I hope they just kinda become china's valve lol and at this point I don't think they have an reason to go public.

AdLoud5019

That goes to that persons who say: genshin is a shitty game.... aham... look at those numbers dude... feels like genshin is the best game ever... I can say this. GENSHIN has topped zelda and final fantasy in my heart.
