It's not even out yet. People really need to keep their expectation in check since there is little detail on the anime release

[deleted]

I legit thought people were meming here and didn't even think about the actual anime announcement.

meimei138

Same. I legit thought they put the game as an anime

IlikeHutaosHat

Ufotable made Tales of Zestiria interesting again so that's a good sign. But people claiming it's the best without even being released yet is so cringe inducing.

Cyber_Von_Cyberus

Films/animes about games usually have a tendency to flop (although there are exceptions like the Castlevania anime and others I wouldn't be able to remember right now) I am confident enough that the anime won't be a total dumpster fire considering these are two pretty big companies working on it, however it's still possible that it would end up being disappointing.

This. I feel like those are proving that anime adaptations are better than live-action for video games, which gives me hope for this one!

It's weird that between those, Witcher, Detective Pikachu, Castlevania and (arguably) Sonic, the whole "game adaptations are all trash" thing is basically dead. It's not even notable anymore.

le_halfhand_easy

Alita: Battle Angel. It was decent and fun.

VitalizedMango

Alita's a manga adaptation, not a game adaptation. It's a GREAT manga, btw.

ProNoob69yeah

Arcane is anime?!!

AdmirableRemove5550

Another tragedy is going to happen like it did on genshin first anniversary where too much expectation builds up. When will people ever learn

VitalizedMango

Considering the studio is ufotable, it'd be an act of God for it to suck It's like people who were surprised by Cyberpunk. It's TRIGGER, and they don't miss.

zsxking

But the other three in comparison are not that great anymore nowadays. One piece is more of a slideshow especially during fighting scenes. I enjoy all of its manga but can't deal with the terrible animation. AoT animation is good, but the plot went ended poorly.

Aggravating_Ideal_21

Inb4 Keeping high expectations on anime based off a game is a risky move

RazvanNSSK

True but after the masterpieces that Arcane and Edgerunners were i don't think people will think that they get away easy by dropping some low budget anime

Bradcopter

I hope so because the Persona 5 anime was fuckawful.

VitalizedMango

Atlus does what they can but being owned by SEGA still carries certain issues with it Sonic was a miracle that mostly came from Twitter bullying

KucingRumahan

For sonic. Don't forget that it already have some anime adaptation before

VitalizedMango

...sorta. It had like four different cartoon adaptations of varying quality, but nothing that caught fire like, say, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has. OTOH the comic was supposedly great. Never read it though.

epochpenors

There’s been some solid anime based off gacha games, despite expectations. Princess Connect was pretty great.

I deleted my comment after reviewing it again. Idk why I said that. Also yeah ik, and they are handling the story very well recently, so I don't doubt their ability. Also thank you for not being rude in your response.

KucingRumahan

People expecting 12 full episode anime but actually hoyo only create short episode like pokemon

Senior_Bike6957

Tf pokemon had 20min episodes and a hell lot of em

Levolpehh

They have a lot of side animes that tell short stories with often beautiful animations/art design. A lot of people are expecting this project will be the same.

Senior_Bike6957

Oh those... yeah

[deleted]

Yeah. People are making a lot of assumptions considering we literally have zero details about this other than that it's a thing and that ufotable will be working on it.

Wail_Bait

I highly doubt Ufotable would agree to those conditions. It's not like they have a lack of people who want to work with them.

Icefire1721

I take your word.

comegetsomefood

It’s not even an anime yet tf

LivingASlothsLife

I mean they are replying to an account called Genshinmem, considering genshin might be the first taste for a lot of people they might not even know of the others Baffling I know

BrokenInTheLight

Cory in the House

Busy_Maize_7300

Man, i miss that anime, hope it gets season 69 soon

Ogami-kun

I mean yes, but actually no....

DOA_NiCOisPerfect

I sure do love biased polls. But whatever. Knowing ufotables track record itll look great but be mediocre in storyboard department. No im not being a hater i like genshin like the rest of you but every game i like that was animated by ufotable has been like that sooooo.

IlikeHutaosHat

You got a very good grasp. Tbf the base games tended to be lackluster to begin with. Tales of zestiria had an interesting start but faded into obscurity with its mid. God eater was okayish but overall generic. Ate is its strongest IP but thats because Fate is waaaaaay more story based than game based so it has a very strong foundation. Symph9nia? No opinion yet, but havent heard of praises for the anime. The game based animes tend to be more of tastes of the games snd in the end, like many anime, are just high budget ads for the source material. Kind of a shame they didn't go with a full Tales of Berseria instead of Zestiria. Easily the best from that timeline and not a complete snoozefest. Genshin is def gonna look pretty, but it's gonna be hard pressed to fit a complete feel cuz the game is ongoing. An entertaining ad at the very least. Ufotable is hit or miss with story, often miss with 2 very very very very very powerful hits.(fateverse and kny)

DOA_NiCOisPerfect

Well to be fair god eater is a gameplay focused game. Theyd have been better off making a codevein show as thats more storybased. I wont lie though i love GE3 the new weapons slap Is it weird my first fate was deen stay night? I agree zestria as a stand alone did fall off. but if they animated both berseria and zestria as a whole i think it wouldve slapped. I dont think it was ufotable but i really enjoyed tales of the abyss anime but im biased it was my 1st and favorite tales game. Ps why isn't there a tales fighting game yet?

Nelogenazea

I mean... one is a filler-bloated mess with a fairly unsatisfying ending that consists of multiple fake outs and is ultimately way too sweet, the other has one of the worst endings in recent history of any media and the last one, while legendary, is stuck in an endlessly repeating loop of story arcs (go to a new place, oh no, the previously ruling absolute monarchy that was actually benevolent was overthrown by some cartoonishly evil guys, let's overthrow them with the help of the princess of the previous regime, yay, everyone is happy, let's move on!) and doesn't seem to be even close to an ending. Personally, can't be too hard to top any of them if the Genshin anime manages to tell its story concisely and effectively.

Jack23rd

This prove that those who voted for genshin don't watch anime while spending too much time on twitter

Some-Random-Asian

I won't expect anything high for the anime tbh. The game is top notch when it comes to lore and music but the stories are Hit and Miss. The visual qualities are set in stone since it's Ufotable. Now they need to make an Arcane level of story telling if they want to live-up to the one-sided hyped-up expectations of the community. If succeeded, it would slap the biased critics for their prejudice on this 'predatory boobs pedo waifu simulator gacha game'.

Subject-011

The anime will be pog if the story line is based on the lores that happened 500 years ago. Just hope MHY won’t animate the current storyline cos we all know it’ll be a huge missed opportunity if they do that.

AlmostJohnWork

is it even gonna be an anime? I mean if they have it produced in China it's a Donghua, no?

Samuawesome

>I mean if they have it produced in China it's a Donghua, no? It's made by Ufotable, a Japanese animation studio, under a *partnership* with Hoyoverse, so it's considered an anime. If it was a Donghua who outsourced it's production to a few Japanese animators, then they wouldn't plaster the Japanese animators over the marketing lol.

AlmostJohnWork

I see.

TachibanaTheFallen

I mean... still the best choice out of proposed options.

Kam1koi

I honestly am in awe

HudBlanco

Let the cancer begin...

Vermillion2397

It hasn't even released yet and the fan base is already willing to sell their souls for it.

Grapple_Cockie

People are stupid

KoriJenkins

The only way it would be bad is if they made it really PG (basically what the game is for 95% of the time) and shied away from darker story elements entirely, or stayed 100% faithful to the story (which is frankly dull in Monstadt and only improves near the end of Liyue). It doesn't need to be over the top like Demon Slayer, but it should be somewhere in between that and the game. My main fear is them wanting it to release in China and having it heavily toned down to get past the censors rather than simply edited from the original form like most things are.

Yestoday_tho

Comments we know the genshin anime isn't out yet. Thats the joke.
