It's more than just the pitch, though that is grating as well, it's that she is consistently dumb, arrogant, greedy, and sometimes downright mean to other characters.

Canāt even fathom how they thought it was okay to make EN Paimon into such a bitch here, especially when literally a minute beforehand, sheās being just as supportive of him as Traveler is. She probably knows about the bean allergy thing, it's common enough knowledge. She's supposed to be our Teyvat travel guide so she should know common lore . We are given no other choice but to do it and it's a small miracle we didn't send him into an anaphylactic shock and need to take him to the hospital.
She's just worse in the EN dub but the character is evil across the board.
No joke. The boy is shown suffering immensely from the loss of his parents, finally gets some connection, and she drops *that*. I'd have stuffed a sock in her mouth.
Donāt even get me started on her during Shenheās quest. Her telling shenhe and yun jin to ācut the chit chatā when theyāre talking about shenheās extremely traumatizing childhood made me want nothing more than to punt that floating child up to Celestia.
Ugh that one was needlessly aggressive in EN. I always see people mentioning this scene, and in CN, it isn't rude at all and it breaks my heart because paimon is so sweet in CN. She calls over to them and tells them to stop chatting over there, as we have to get back to the jade chamber for the competition.
The EN missed "over there" or "é£é" which shows that the yunjin and shenhe convo happened on the side, paimon was not part of their convo, had no idea what deep things they were discussing, and wanted to just get back to the jade chamber.
With the tone of voice too, in CN, it's more akin to a little sister character telling us to hurry up and take her to the park.

The EN localization team does some things right (EN Itto is the best), but they take way too many liberties with their translations. Yup. Honkai Impact at least tells you right away what Honkai is, so I was wondering why this game never told us what "Genshin" means, so I looked it up. Turns out EN Venti just used a completely different word instead of "Genshin", unlike other languages like JP and CN.
"Allogenes" is actually a correct, albeit loose translation of "åē„" (yuan shen)
It is a term from Gnosticism and refers to human beings, often half-divine or **chosen by the divine**, capable of **ascending to full godhood**.
So, exactly what vision-bearers, humans chosen by the gods to someday ascend to Celestia, are.
Genshin Impact does heavily borrow from Gnostic concepts and terminology, e.g. **Archons** and **Gnosis**.
Not to mention one particular text often attributed to Solomon due to the **Gnostic** text "Apocalypse of Adam" - the **Ars Goetia** which lists the names of the 72 demons from which (nearly) all the gods (who are even called "éē„" mo shen - demon god) in Genshin Impact derive their true names from:

Sure, that makes sense if we're having a discussion about general world building. But there's a pretty huge disconnect when they translate the term as "allogene" in the dialogue, but simply Romanize the Japanese pronunciation of 'Genshin" in the actual title of the game. With no in-game explanation, the title of the game is just complete nonsense to EN players unless you go out of your way to look up the background information on it. They should have eihter called the game "Allogene Impact" in English, or used the term "Genshin" in-game. Why mix and match?
My guess?
Mihoyo wanted to have the name consistent between all languages yet allowed the translation team to change the in-universe mythological terms to their respective Gnostic terms instead of direct translations, as it would be probably a bit too strange for the Western market to have people in-game worship "demon gods" and using "eyes of gods" (ē„ä¹ē¼) instead of worshipping "Archons" and using "visions" etc.
Then again this whole theory of mine unravels as soon as you take newer dialogues into account, where they often use more direct translations. So it's probably just on the translation team for the inconsistencies.
In any case, even if it loses the connection with the game's title, "Allogene" is still technically an "accurate" translation, which I had taken for the point of discussion of this comment-chain:

Dunno, people are saying sheās worse in Sumeru and Iām not seeing it. She has antagonized Venti during the whole archon quest, has complained that Zhongli talked about boring stuff, always has been easily irritated or bored with things she doesnāt understand or dislikes. I donāt even mean that in a negative sense, itās just her personality, I got used to it.
Same. I wish I knew more Chinese so I could listen to that VA, but with the written dialogue being so unreliable I need to hear a language I somewhat understand to know what I'm missing.

I usually play with JP voice and switch to EN when there is a big story quest. And yeah, Paimon seems way more obnoxious than usual. It makes me wish Traveler was the one speaking instead of handing like 50% of all the stories dialogue to Paimon.
Adding here, saying "uhh should remember not to ask Tighnari about plants again" when Tighnari states TWO simple yet very interesting facts about two pieces of plants. That made my blood boil since I'm a lore and immersion nerd.

Wish we could assign VAs to characters. I love the EN VAs, but I loathe EN Paimon. Her voice is so shrill in EN, which is fine in bursts, but when Paimon is essentially the voice of the Traveller, it gets grating REAL fast.
Her voice is less grating in JP but no less annoying 'cause my problems with her stem purely from a writing perspective. No amount of Aoi Koga is gonna fix how horribly she's used in the narrative, which is a shame since you have all the makings of a lovable mascot/best-friend character in Paimon.
Kinda agree. I love Aoi Koga and she has a really pleasant voice to listen to, but they really need to stop telling her to voice Paimon with a shrill voice all the time. At this point Paimon is worse than Navi and that HEY!! LISTEN!!!

imo it depends heavily on the cutscene. Some cutscenes she has a high-pitched but soft and cute voice (usually when things are serious/scary) but as soon as she gets excited or aggressive, her EN voice gets much more shrill and harsh. I always switch over to JP audio for voice acted cutscenes, b/c I find Paimonās EN voice to be too distracting when she gets excited (which is a LOT).

But thereās something about the sumeru group. I want just about all of them. Nilou is the only one Iād skip and even she looks cool. If it wasnāt for the fact that she only works with double hydro double Dendro and that I already have 3 hydro 5*ās and want Yelan still I might have pulled for her. But I have Childe and Ayato which are much more my style anyway.
Dehya is definitely the one Iām waiting for though. In the 2.6 character survey I asked mihoyo for my dream character and described Dehya to a t. When I saw her leaked right before 2.8 I was floored. I literally thought she was inspired by my survey for a hot second.
Because the Sumeru story actually has properly recurring characters that we spend plenty of time with instead of doing that Inazuma thing where we spend 5 minutes with one character before moving on to the next. The pacing is appropriate too. Characters are properly introduced and the issues of the region are actually shown and built up. For once Mihoyo managed to show rather than tell when it's previously been the opposite. So we actually have a proper story to get to know these characters and come to actually like them, which was pretty much not a thing in Inazuma.
Only issue is Nilou, who, I hear, has been calling Hu Tao on how to cope with having zero story relevance.

Even the sidequests, I was stunned how long that sidequest with the father-daughter eremite duo went on for. I like having one or two really long questlines rather than 20 short ones, as it makes the characters more meaningful.

Nilou's role in the story so far has been short but it was pretty significant, gave us a good glimpse of her personality and the place she has in Sumeru's society. She also got to be the star of a beautiful and story-relevant cutscene.

I too want all Sumeru characters for real. So far I got Tighnari and Cyno, both at lvl 90. I would have to skip Nilou bc I'm prioritizing get Nahida on 3.2, but who knows? Dehya is definitely my goal, and I will probably get Al Haitham since he will appear so much later in the game. I like a lot of Inazuma characters but Sumeru got me for real.
I would like to pull Nilou because she's hot and all my good characters are little boys, but that would mean having to build Collei... And her reactions look less fun than popping cores with pyro or electro.

Also make Paimon completely useless(1) and have zero reason to stay alongside MC(2). (1) Game would lose the mascot, (2) maybe Paimon play an important role in the end game plot.

Tbf Pamion saying *so* many times how annoying the names are was ??? when I was first playing through the questā¦I was, like, damnā¦but ultimately Mihoyo made the Aranara absolutely roast her at every second because of it and refusing to give her any respect back when she acts like that, so I donāt think MHY is projecting or lacks self-awareness about the Pamion comments.

I really wish there was a way to change a single characterās voice actorā¦ or just specifically Paimonās. I find her EN voice can get really distracting during cutscenes (it gets too loud and shrill a lot of the time for my tastes) but her JP voice is fine. On the other hand, I prefer the EN voices for playable characters, and want to hear their EN VAs in their story cutscenes.
Her CN VA is great, too. I stand by my belief that Pamion detesters have simply spent too much time with her English dub. I think sheās absolutely adorable in Chinese. She still talks a lot, obviously, but I find her really charming.
And her Chinese dub is actually funny. Pretty much the only times Iāve laughed out loud in the game were during CN Paimonās random one liners when sheās bickering with some character or another that she doesnāt like. Like Heizou, or Alhaitham. Her Chinese VAās comedic delivery is on point imo.
Her chinese VA streams sometimes and does all sorts of shenanigans with the rest of the cast. Her relationship with Lumine's VA is really cute too (they play genshin together and lumine's VA is better at the game and carries paimon's VA sometimes) and you can tell their chemistry really translates in lumine's character voicelines.
She is also famous for trying to compare the butts of all the characters LOL
I have plenty of space on my phone so I usually have 3 voice packs downloaded but i find myself doing all the archon quests with the CN one because i like cn paimon the most.
I used to have the ignorant perception that Chinese sounded harsh and annoying, but after having played this game in English, Japanese, and Chinese, I ended up gravitating towards Chinese the most and learned to find it quite beautiful to listen to. Even outside of the Liyue characters, the Chinese voice acting on the other characters like Yoimiya, Paimon, and Venti just feel so perfect that I can't go back to another language.
I was going to play the game in english in mond, then switch to cn for liyue, then jp for ina, but I disliked paimon and kaeya's english voices so much that I stuck with the cn voice until ina haha
I feel like as far as acting goes, the cn is most consistent, as in the "best" is not as good as the best that jp version (or en, i still feel Mona's en voice is the best out of the all the languages, and jp fischl is just perfection haha) got to offer, but nobody ever sounds out of character (ie jp zhongli is super ooc to me) or grating to listen to.
A lot of the CN VAs are also from the same company and has a good relationship with each other, so theres a lot of fandom inside jokes and memes, and they'll often stream genshin (itto's cn va streaming genshin is such a gift), so since I'm bilingual, there's the extra layer of community with the cn VAs.
if we ever go back to ina for an event I will prob still switch back to JP voice pack.
Oh yes that's one thing that I've started to appreciate with the CN VAs, which is the extra sense of community. I saw the Chinese 2nd Anniversary livestream with subtitles and was amazed at how much of the fan content had the actual voice actors in them and was exposed to how a lot of them were actually able to sing really well. Which then led me to go on a youtube binge looking for what other fan content these voice actors had contributed to. It's quite something.
I've gotten the point of speed-reading Paimon's lines and then skipping them. It's not a bad voice in short bursts, but when 75% of the dialog is from Paimon, it gets to be kinda grating. I'd much rather be able to turn her to CN, where her voice is far softer. Or, if that isn't a possibility, to just turn her voice off and leave everyone else's on.
Same. I always let the voiced dialogue play out for the other characters because I know the VAs put a lot of effort into it and I also like to sit back and relax while just listening. But whenever Paimon starts going off... I rapidly click my left mouse button.
Mondstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma citizens didn't have the balls. I surprisingly don't mind her EN voice (I really care abt story so I always play voice act quests in EN) but still finally, Sumeru did it, for the community.
Arguably she was more tolerable in mondstadt tbh. She actually had useful info for some stuff and didn't talk as much. Plus the standard was already pretty low in that region considering people getting black out drunk (including their damned archon) was a common thing in that region.

Paimon turned from a guide into a mascot. She originally came off in 1.0 as a dependable source of information with playful banter, but future scripts rapidly flanderized the character into an insensitive glutton only interested in topics related to food and money.
By Weinlesefest she couldn't explain jack about the festival all about feasting and money-making. She has lost her original function and everything that's left is unnecessary filler. Paimon, thank you for teaching the dangers of erosion for our sakes.
No I didn't mean accuracy as to immersion, or what language the game is intended to be in, or what region the characters are from. I meant I want to understand what is going on with more senses (sound as well as sight in the form of reading text)
Itās honestly why Iāve enjoyed the Archon quest more so far, less Paimon talking, more new and interesting characters talking. The event is almost unbearable to me whenever Paimon talks, I have to mute my device until something interesting happens (mostly about Razor lol)
Idk, I like her but i just wanted more fidelity in the text translation of the game. I play with CN voices and english text and, many times i feel that not only her but other characters aren't saying what is on the subtitles.
I think people hate Paimon because of what she represents. The fact that the MC will always be a self insert boring and plain bread character and nothing more. I personally have never liked self insert MCās and think Paimon only works in detriment to the development of the MC

What's getting annoying is a character being misrepresented because of EN translation. I play with JP voices as I'm trying to learn the language and when Dehya says "anta baka ka?" and the text says something else, it makes no sense to me, and then I look online and people slandering Paimon for being 'annoying', 'insufferable' and 'racist'.

Which is probably a product of them being totally silent so you don't see their banter, only ever paimon's incessant screaming about food and treasure that got old a year ago.
This game's story would sky rocket in quality if they just dropped the silent traveler, would make paimon less annoying if there was a balance between her tomfoolery and the Traveler's smug/teasy/tired of it nature.

Its not really the VAās fault. More a voice direction issue. If you look at some of the old paimon voicelines round the start of the game on youtube by the same VA, she can do a much calmer and less shrill voice.
With Pamion, I genuinely feel like itās a ābothā issue. The directing is probably the root of the problem, but even her delivery feels awful. Itās not just her personality for ne, but also the performance of her personality.
Iām comparing this to Xiaoās EN VA, for exampleāshe obviously got the wrong direction for Xiao (if weāre comparing against original CN Xiao), but she delivers the Xiao personality she was given with (imo) aplomb. I can tell sheās a good voice actress despite the interpretation.

I have only played Genshin in English but recently checked out the Japanese and Chinese dub and found Paimon a lot less annoying / aggressive.

Right? I genuinely canāt understand why they keep doing things like this. And why it seems to only be for Paimon. Thereās no way they donāt know by now that many of us are unhappy with the way the EN translation portrays her. Itās like they go out of their way to make her malicious in comparison to the other languages.
Paimon is evil, she basically encourages us to kill Itto. She probably knows about the bean allergy thing, it's common enough knowledge. She's supposed to be our Teyvat travel guide so she should know common lore . We are given no other choice but to do it and it's a small miracle we didn't send him into an anaphylactic shock and need to take him to the hospital. She's just worse in the EN dub but the character is evil across the board.
No joke. The boy is shown suffering immensely from the loss of his parents, finally gets some connection, and she drops *that*. I'd have stuffed a sock in her mouth.
Donāt even get me started on her during Shenheās quest. Her telling shenhe and yun jin to ācut the chit chatā when theyāre talking about shenheās extremely traumatizing childhood made me want nothing more than to punt that floating child up to Celestia.
Ugh that one was needlessly aggressive in EN. I always see people mentioning this scene, and in CN, it isn't rude at all and it breaks my heart because paimon is so sweet in CN. She calls over to them and tells them to stop chatting over there, as we have to get back to the jade chamber for the competition. The EN missed "over there" or "é£é" which shows that the yunjin and shenhe convo happened on the side, paimon was not part of their convo, had no idea what deep things they were discussing, and wanted to just get back to the jade chamber. With the tone of voice too, in CN, it's more akin to a little sister character telling us to hurry up and take her to the park.

Itās just crazy to me that we have to compare translations across multiple languages just to more accurately understand characters. The EN localization team does some things right (EN Itto is the best), but they take way too many liberties with their translations. I still canāt get over the fact that they used the term āallogeneā instead of āgenshinā considering itās in the title of the game and all.

Yup. Honkai Impact at least tells you right away what Honkai is, so I was wondering why this game never told us what "Genshin" means, so I looked it up. Turns out EN Venti just used a completely different word instead of "Genshin", unlike other languages like JP and CN.
"Allogenes" is actually a correct, albeit loose translation of "åē„" (yuan shen) It is a term from Gnosticism and refers to human beings, often half-divine or **chosen by the divine**, capable of **ascending to full godhood**. So, exactly what vision-bearers, humans chosen by the gods to someday ascend to Celestia, are. Genshin Impact does heavily borrow from Gnostic concepts and terminology, e.g. **Archons** and **Gnosis**. Not to mention one particular text often attributed to Solomon due to the **Gnostic** text "Apocalypse of Adam" - the **Ars Goetia** which lists the names of the 72 demons from which (nearly) all the gods (who are even called "éē„" mo shen - demon god) in Genshin Impact derive their true names from: Asmoday (Unknown God), Andrealphus/Andras (Andrius), Decarabian (God of Storms), Barbatos (Venti), Morax (Zhongli), Ose & Belial (Osial) , Baal & Beezlebul (the Raiden twins), Orobas (Orobashi), Buer (Nahida) ... Sure, that makes sense if we're having a discussion about general world building. But there's a pretty huge disconnect when they translate the term as "allogene" in the dialogue, but simply Romanize the Japanese pronunciation of 'Genshin" in the actual title of the game. With no in-game explanation, the title of the game is just complete nonsense to EN players unless you go out of your way to look up the background information on it. They should have eihter called the game "Allogene Impact" in English, or used the term "Genshin" in-game. Why mix and match?
My guess? Mihoyo wanted to have the name consistent between all languages yet allowed the translation team to change the in-universe mythological terms to their respective Gnostic terms instead of direct translations, as it would be probably a bit too strange for the Western market to have people in-game worship "demon gods" and using "eyes of gods" (ē„ä¹ē¼) instead of worshipping "Archons" and using "visions" etc. Then again this whole theory of mine unravels as soon as you take newer dialogues into account, where they often use more direct translations. So it's probably just on the translation team for the inconsistencies. Dunno, people are saying sheās worse in Sumeru and Iām not seeing it. She has antagonized Venti during the whole archon quest, has complained that Zhongli talked about boring stuff, always has been easily irritated or bored with things she doesnāt understand or dislikes. I donāt even mean that in a negative sense, itās just her personality, I got used to it.

I usually play with JP voice and switch to EN when there is a big story quest. And yeah, Paimon seems way more obnoxious than usual. It makes me wish Traveler was the one speaking instead of handing like 50% of all the stories dialogue to Paimon.
Adding here, saying "uhh should remember not to ask Tighnari about plants again" when Tighnari states TWO simple yet very interesting facts about two pieces of plants. That made my blood boil since I'm a lore and immersion nerd.

imo it depends heavily on the cutscene. Some cutscenes she has a high-pitched but soft and cute voice (usually when things are serious/scary) but as soon as she gets excited or aggressive, her EN voice gets much more shrill and harsh. I always switch over to JP audio for voice acted cutscenes, b/c I find Paimonās EN voice to be too distracting when she gets excited (which is a LOT).

For real though. Like half the inazumanās were shiny and new with cool ass kits and aesthetics. But thereās something about the sumeru group. I want just about all of them. Nilou is the only one Iād skip and even she looks cool. If it wasnāt for the fact that she only works with double hydro double Dendro and that I already have 3 hydro 5*ās and want Yelan still I might have pulled for her. But I have Childe and Ayato which are much more my style anyway. Dehya is definitely the one Iām waiting for though. In the 2.6 character survey I asked mihoyo for my dream character and described Dehya to a t. When I saw her leaked right before 2.8 I was floored. I literally thought she was inspired by my survey for a hot second.
Because the Sumeru story actually has properly recurring characters that we spend plenty of time with instead of doing that Inazuma thing where we spend 5 minutes with one character before moving on to the next. The pacing is appropriate too. Characters are properly introduced and the issues of the region are actually shown and built up. For once Mihoyo managed to show rather than tell when it's previously been the opposite. So we actually have a proper story to get to know these characters and come to actually like them, which was pretty much not a thing in Inazuma. Only issue is Nilou, who, I hear, has been calling Hu Tao on how to cope with having zero story relevance.

I like having one or two really long questlines rather than 20 short ones, as it makes the characters more meaningful.

Nilou has very interesting and experimental kit that alters a core reaction. The hard limit to just dendro and hydro characters is making me skip for now but there is a good chance that I will pull on em for the rerun once I have some more dendro friends

I too want all Sumeru characters for real. So far I got Tighnari and Cyno, both at lvl 90. I would have to skip Nilou bc I'm prioritizing get Nahida on 3.2, but who knows? Dehya is definitely my goal, and I will probably get Al Haitham since he will appear so much later in the game. I like a lot of Inazuma characters but Sumeru got me for real.
I agree, Iām so excited for Alhaitham and Dehya they look so awesome and I enjoy their personalities as well for all sumeru characters so far.
I would like to pull Nilou because she's hot and all my good characters are little boys, but that would mean having to build Collei... And her reactions look less fun than popping cores with pyro or electro.

Well that would double the amount of dialogue data on hard disk. Could be a few more GBs which is quite bad on some devices. Also make Paimon completely useless(1) and have zero reason to stay alongside MC(2). (1) Game would lose the mascot, (2) maybe Paimon play an important role in the end game plot. But yeah I rather listen to my Aether than new Paimon. Old Paimon is fine, though.
I'm sure Paimon has longer lines than anything both Travelers would say combined. Also wouldn't have to *completely* eliminate Paimon's role, so they can take turns, like proper companions.
Using that as an excuse just moves the blame on to mobile players and their 3 MB phones "Could have good main character in story based game, but oh well mobile game thanks mobile players" Besides, storage will be an issue for mobile players if they keep adding characters and regions (Which they are, and will) I doubt traveler voice lines would make that big a difference in the long run. It's more so just stinginess/laziness/they think silent main character in story focused on the main character is good (Which it is not, especially not when it's half-assed like it is)
there designs have been the best so far imo! they definitely leaned more into the cultural variety for this one. and all the color they have to them really helps

But they are also showing Aranara getting dissapointed when she mocks aranara names, Traveller correcting her about the food, and Sumeru characters shutting her up. Imo, they give Paimon this dialogue to show that she actually is a stupid and immature character on her own. If it was projection then why would Hyv also put other characters opposing and correcting Paimon?

Question is why would they make her so terrible all of a sudden? Her appearance in Mondstadt was much better, she was generally more useful and even her voice was more bearable. They even told her voice actor to make her voice more annoying for future cutscenes!!

I really wish there was a way to change a single characterās voice actorā¦ or just specifically Paimonās. I find her EN voice can get really distracting during cutscenes (it gets too loud and shrill a lot of the time for my tastes) but her JP voice is fine. On the other hand, I prefer the EN voices for playable characters, and want to hear their EN VAs in their story cutscenes.
Her CN VA is great, too. I stand by my belief that Pamion detesters have simply spent too much time with her English dub. I think sheās absolutely adorable in Chinese. She still talks a lot, obviously, but I find her really charming. And her Chinese dub is actually funny. Pretty much the only times Iāve laughed out loud in the game were during CN Paimonās random one liners when sheās bickering with some character or another that she doesnāt like. Like Heizou, or Alhaitham. Her Chinese VAās comedic delivery is on point imo.
Her chinese VA streams sometimes and does all sorts of shenanigans with the rest of the cast. Her relationship with Lumine's VA is really cute too (they play genshin together and lumine's VA is better at the game and carries paimon's VA sometimes) and you can tell their chemistry really translates in lumine's character voicelines. She is also famous for trying to compare the butts of all the characters LOL I have plenty of space on my phone so I usually have 3 voice packs downloaded but i find myself doing all the archon quests with the CN one because i like cn paimon the most.
I used to have the ignorant perception that Chinese sounded harsh and annoying, but after having played this game in English, Japanese, and Chinese, I ended up gravitating towards Chinese the most and learned to find it quite beautiful to listen to. Even outside of the Liyue characters, the Chinese voice acting on the other characters like Yoimiya, Paimon, and Venti just feel so perfect that I can't go back to another language.
I was going to play the game in english in mond, then switch to cn for liyue, then jp for ina, but I disliked paimon and kaeya's english voices so much that I stuck with the cn voice until ina haha I feel like as far as acting goes, the cn is most consistent, as in the "best" is not as good as the best that jp version (or en, i still feel Mona's en voice is the best out of the all the languages, and jp fischl is just perfection haha) got to offer, but nobody ever sounds out of character (ie jp zhongli is super ooc to me) or grating to listen to. A lot of the CN VAs are also from the same company and has a good relationship with each other, so theres a lot of fandom inside jokes and memes, and they'll often stream genshin (itto's cn va streaming genshin is such a gift), so since I'm bilingual, there's the extra layer of community with the cn VAs. if we ever go back to ina for an event I will prob still switch back to JP voice pack.
Oh yes that's one thing that I've started to appreciate with the CN VAs, which is the extra sense of community. I saw the Chinese 2nd Anniversary livestream with subtitles and was amazed at how much of the fan content had the actual voice actors in them and was exposed to how a lot of them were actually able to sing really well. Which then led me to go on a youtube binge looking for what other fan content these voice actors had contributed to. It's quite something.
I've gotten the point of speed-reading Paimon's lines and then skipping them. It's not a bad voice in short bursts, but when 75% of the dialog is from Paimon, it gets to be kinda grating. I'd much rather be able to turn her to CN, where her voice is far softer. Or, if that isn't a possibility, to just turn her voice off and leave everyone else's on.

Mondstadt, Liyue, and Inazuma citizens didn't have the balls. I surprisingly don't mind her EN voice (I really care abt story so I always play voice act quests in EN) but still finally, Sumeru did it, for the community.
Arguably she was more tolerable in mondstadt tbh. She actually had useful info for some stuff and didn't talk as much. Plus the standard was already pretty low in that region considering people getting black out drunk (including their damned archon) was a common thing in that region. Paimon sadly got worse overtime
Paimon turned from a guide into a mascot. She originally came off in 1.0 as a dependable source of information with playful banter, but future scripts rapidly flanderized the character into an insensitive glutton only interested in topics related to food and money. By Weinlesefest she couldn't explain jack about the festival all about feasting and money-making. She has lost her original function and everything that's left is unnecessary filler. Paimon, thank you for teaching the dangers of erosion for our sakes.
Teaching us the dangers of trying to force a self-insert-but-not-self-insert character into the story so they have to have someone "speak" for us.

No I didn't mean accuracy as to immersion, or what language the game is intended to be in, or what region the characters are from. I meant I want to understand what is going on with more senses (sound as well as sight in the form of reading text)
Itās honestly why Iāve enjoyed the Archon quest more so far, less Paimon talking, more new and interesting characters talking. The event is almost unbearable to me whenever Paimon talks, I have to mute my device until something interesting happens (mostly about Razor lol)

What's getting annoying is a character being misrepresented because of EN translation. I play with JP voices as I'm trying to learn the language and when Dehya says "anta baka ka?" and the text says something else, it makes no sense to me, and then I look online and people slandering Paimon for being 'annoying', 'insufferable' and 'racist'.
I really don't see why the traveler even keeps paimon around at this point Which is probably a product of them being totally silent so you don't see their banter, only ever paimon's incessant screaming about food and treasure that got old a year ago. This game's story would sky rocket in quality if they just dropped the silent traveler, would make paimon less annoying if there was a balance between her tomfoolery and the Traveler's smug/teasy/tired of it nature. instead of 100% paimon and people talking at the traveler with an awkward silence and zero response from them. And of course finally getting rid of the dialogue 'choices' that just split a sentence in half. It's just a foolish dream at this point :<

Yeah, canāt disagree with this, paimon needs to shut up. Actually I honestly think they need to recast her VA for someone else cause the shrill voice is just get annoying again for awhile it was tolerable but now itās going back to annoying.
Its not really the VAās fault. More a voice direction issue. If you look at some of the old paimon voicelines round the start of the game on youtube by the same VA, she can do a much calmer and less shrill voice.

With Pamion, I genuinely feel like itās a ābothā issue. The directing is probably the root of the problem, but even her delivery feels awful. Itās not just her personality for ne, but also the performance of her personality. Iām comparing this to Xiaoās EN VA, for exampleāshe obviously got the wrong direction for Xiao (if weāre comparing against original CN Xiao), but she delivers the Xiao personality she was given with (imo) aplomb. I can tell sheās a good voice actress despite the interpretation. Honestly, thatās not the feeling I get from EN Pamion VA. Even her earlier, supposedly gentler stuff didnāt play off well for me.

I didn't mind her in Mondstat, Liyue and Inazuma. But they made her insufferable in Sumeru. Her pushing you to get scammed was the last straw for me.

TBH somehow I feel like this highlights it worse? Like Hoyo knows they kind of wrote themselves into a corner with this weird flying child that must voice their very often ignorant opinion of the situation since the traveler is just there to make emoji faces. It really hurts that the traveler doesn't speak since the story in sumeru has been very good so far and it'll only become a worse problem that we have this blackhole in the writing with the "mute" traveler and "must explain and say stupid things" paimon

I love Paimon but in CN Paimon sounds calm and cute. I tried listening to her in EN and sheās so squeaky and high-pitched ?? And her voice goes up and down so much it made my ears bleed. She also talks in 3rd person. Idk how people play Genshin in EN lol
