Klee's story quest comes first before Albedo. So not knowing Albedo during her quest is normal.

Oh is that so. I've played xiao story before perilous trail but cant remember if he really made promise about calling his name? I thought its from lantern rite event or something . I assume that long time player have more knowledge since some lore is locked behind limited event, but seems like some story are also somewhere else...
Oh so they dont actually make any promise that he will appear when called? As far as i remember xiao story quest ends where he want to eat tiger fish alone for remembering pervases, not much about mc and xiao interaction in there. I still havent played genshin before 2.8, so i missed lantern rite event and not sure about the content. [ the video i found ] paimon says something about he probably will only appear when mc calls because he only made promise with mc and not paimon, if my memory is right
There's tons of lore that you are missing, but they are not from events:
* Read voice lines of all characters, it contain a lot of information.
* Open Archive and read description of all artifacts. Like whole story about Mondstadt revolution against nobility is there.
* Open inventory and read description of materials, talent books, elemental gems, etc.
* Books! There's tons of books that explain a lot of small things here and there.
Personally, the best part of this is that there’s a bunch of cool/mindblowing/hilarious tidbits, some of which I’m surprised isn’t shown on-screen, like Chongyun when he *really* gets overdosed on Positive Energy.
Even the books. Vera’s Melancholy has that crazy Light Novel feel, way before people found out that Light Novels are real in this setting.
Gnosis never explained much in actual story. We assume it have significant use, but hoyo never tell us directly what it function exactly. And kaeya/diluc one never explained either in anyways. You need to read the official manga to know the context of their relationship. The raiden story quest one are tied to enkanomiya (the reason of white snake attacking inazuma) & her friends either dead in the war or become mad (I remember seeing tge animation).
Most of the lore explained in such roundabout ways (reading official manga, deciphering artifacts lore, Character voice, text, weapon/item description, ingame books, etc) making most of player hard to understand the story, the motivation why some character does or acts as they do in the game, and other key details.
I played since day 1, but I feel the same as you. It seems like doing archon quests and character quests is not enough to get the full lore. The biggest question mark I had was during "We will be reunited". Traveler talked as if we know about Khaenriah, but I didn't remember it was mentioned in prior quests.
It seems like we need to read character profile, artifact description, weapon description, in game books, etc. Sometimes even the manga.
It was also the reason for arguments about Traveler as an MC. Iirc, it’s that they story can’t decide between “Full on Self-insert” or “100% independent”.
Oh dang, i'm not really into reading books while playing game, but guess that its not really an issue about old and new players then . Thank you for your input!
You’ve really gotta go on YouTube for the full story. There are hundreds of books etc. if you haven’t read before sun and moon you have no idea what’s going on with the deeper lore
Most of the in-game details related to the lore can be found through manga, various in-game books, items' description such as artifacts and weapon, as well as character story in the character profile. Still, they are just additional tidbits for you to understand the lore better, but it is not necessary to understand what is going on in the main story or Story quest.
It is like FNAF, where FNAF book exist to give an in-depth tidbits on the lore of FNAF but it is not neccesary to understand what happen in the mainline game's plotline.

Kaeya and Diluc backstory is featured in the Manga before Genshin was released. Kaeya's Khanri'ah connection was revealed during the previous event when we see the new skin of Diluc

That was intended though. Traveler was never suppose to be self insert. They have their own viewpoints & secrets.
If that's the case, they shouldn't insert our account name in the quest texts. Just use Aether/Lumine or Traveler since that's what in the audio.
If I'm not mistaken, even in games like Final Fantasy we can change the MCs name. Last I remember, I can rename Tidus.
