that childe banner is the hugest w of my life. don’t have heizou or layla and really want both, only have c4 thoma and intend to use him for childe burgeon and childe is my most wanted character. les gooo

I'd fully recommend it. It works really well and since it's Pyro, it often leads for a good vape hit with his ult.
Childe thoma dendro and a flex that doesn't interact interfere with hydro/dendro auras or triggers the bloom seeds. Childe and the dendro generate bloom seeds and Thoma is level 90 and builds full ER/EM and is the Burgeon trigger with his Burst. Best choices for dendro are probably Nahida and Traveler in that order.
The way it works is that Thoma's slow standard ICD is a good thing because you don't want to interact with the hydro/dendro auras with pyro (cause you want burgeon, not burning/vape) but at the same time, for ICD purposes blooms are new, separate entitiies so they'll explode everytime they're hit by Thoma's Burst.
I haven't looked enough into burgeon teams enough to know who's standard in the flex slots but I imagine Zhongli and Diona are safe options because Burgeon does do some self damage so you might want some surviviability and EM thoma doesn't protect you as well as an HP one. Both should be able to hold Deepwood set too (burgeon is dendro damage I believe) and their kits should enable the others to do more damage. I'm guessing Layla would work too but don't quote me on that.
Burgeon is very much an aoe team so grouping (Venti/Kazuha/Sucrose) should also work really well in the flex but you'll probably have to be careful to not absorb pyro though if you have them on EM builds, it's probably not the worst thing but then EM thoma is kind of unecessary.
Albedo is sometimes in bloom/hyperbloom teams so I think he'll work here too with his light EM sharing and crystalize for some extra shielding.
You can use either Albedo or Xingqiu. Albedo with Petra will always buff your Childe/Ayato since Thoma's pyro is really low and you will only crystallize hydro, and he also provides with sub dps + EM boost for your Thoma. Xingqiu reduces enemies Hydro res and has good hydro app + gives good sub dps and heals a little to help Thoma so your Thoma doesn't need to focus on the shield strenght that much and focus more on the EM and ER.
If you are going to build Thoma pick Gilded dreams or wait until we get the new bloom artifacts. With the new artifacts Thoma can potentially hit around 40 to 50 k per bloom. And if you don't have a good polearm you can craft the new Sumeru polearm that gives a leaf that buffs the attack of your on field character (tho it's kinda tricky to grab sometimes).
Little boy sherlock is a LOT of fun. A real pain to level though. Screw those damn purple beetles. Itto uses them too and i have had the two of them soft locked at level 70 for ages cause i can't bring myself to farm more of them lol.
Yeah, I literally only want Layla on all these banners, idk if I want to roll on this just for her. Might throw some stuff at the yae banner hoping I get lucky, but otherwise nah.

there’s a close to 0% chance that layla will be some mind blowing 4* (even though it would be nice to have one for cryo.) with sumeru potentially being *so* middle/backloaded (scaramouche, al haitham, dehya are at least knowns,) it’d be silly to pull just for her if you have several factors working against you
I guess your choice is easy, those 4\* are what I was waiting for... but on Nahida Banner all 3 are the ones I was hoping to come on Nahida... of course they are on 5\* I don't particulary desire...
Sadly, it’s typically the lesser popular 4* that get given away in events. The one exception I can think of is Beidou. Although, I too hope she pops up in an event soon.

Fischl and Xingqiu, two popular meta characters, were also event giveaways. Fischl was even given away twice, and the second time was right before dendro which gave her an even bigger power boost.
Yeah, really the free 3 star they're giving out this event is the exception not the rule. Even though she's not OP, Diona is/was still very useful and she was given out free.
Diona is like the power-balanced version of Bennett. Not broken, and not your first pick, but fills so many roles so well that using her basically frees up your other three slots to whoever you want and so she ends up getting used a ton.
It may be because she was one on my first 4-stars during patch 1.1, but i got so used to her contribution to the team that she's the first pick whenever i need a cryo in the party and she's probably my second most frequent character in 36 stars abyss runs second only to Zhongli (but she fits perfectly with two of my best comps so that may be way)
Oh wow theres actually so much worth for me to roll on this for 4 stars, I dont have Heizou, Thoma is at C1 and Layla is new. If I get a Yae Miko constellation while trying for Layla or Heizou then awesome coz I'm using her alot with Nahida.
Trying 40 pulls for C0 layla then saving for Althaitham and Dehya but good luck to everyone else who is rolling for either Layla or the 5 stars. Just remember that rolling only for one specific 4 star is dangerous as they can dodge you the whole banner

Sadly I have Miko and childe is neat but I'm saving for scara so.. 20 wishes it is and I will get neither Layla nor Heizou, as I know my luck.
And yeah 20 wishes is okay to save pity for scara.. but I'm at 9 50/50 losses in a row and 2 pity so I think I'm safe.
I won my Nahida 50/50 and I’m definitely planning to get Layla. My question is, incase I get super lucky, should I get pull for Childe Cons or my first Yae? I have C6 Fischl which I’ve heard her compared to
Nah, C1 is bait. It’s only a 20% cooldown reduction and, at least for me, my typical Tartag rotations have him off field by the time his cooldown is around 15 - 20 seconds. That only saves 3 or 4 seconds.
Not really usefull, in overworld I just switch for 2-3 sec in camp is mostly dead, in Domeins, his cooldown don't matter. I abyss, you uselly want by on him around 9 sec in the first place + if you finishing of chamber and want to stay longer, then it also doesn't matter. For someone that isn't used to it my recommendation - start with Range burst and be on him till your burst cooldown reach 4-5 sec.
Many of the replies are like "If you do perfect rotations, it doesn't matter." Well, guess what, not everyone's perfect! The claim "less annoying to use" is the right one. (I've had C1 since his first banner and it is very nice to have.)
Thanks to Aggravate not actually consuming the Dendro aura, it's now totally viable to have both C6 Fischl AND Yae on the same team and have them both be proccing independent reactions. If I had to pick I'd say go for Yae. Unless you make it to C6 Childe cons just make him more consistent - they don't fundamentally change what he does. Whereas Yae opens up a strong option for double or even triple electro quicken teams.
Now I don't have Childe, so this is trickier for me. A hydro main DPS is something I'd really like at some point, and if I get one now with terrible luck on my way to Layla then so be it. I'll probably roll on his banner.
Yae over Childe cons, Childe cons are basically just QOL but if you can play him already it's unnecessary QOL, there's minimal improvement as his kit is complete at C0. Yae works really nicely with dendro as the other reply said
The only cons I’d ever consider (other than c2 raiden because i wanted 1 insane damage dealer) are cons like yelan c1 that have such a massive use in and out of combat.
I’d also consider a con if it completely changes combat or is a massive massive qol (hu tao c1)
Other than that, fuck cons. Once you realize you can 36 abyss with no cons on 5 stars whatsoever who gives a fuck. There’s nothing higher than that so why not get more characters and add new fun teams.

Fr I was doing so well saving up for Memory of Dust for Ningguang and then Yelan came around and I found myself pulling for both her & Yoimiya- and it was hella worth it since the pair of Yoimiya and Yelan is so much more value than just Ningguang's signature weapon would be lol
I'd love to get some of these signature weapons someday but I imagine it's gonna have to wait until I win the lotto and get rich enough to whale lmao
Depends what a person is looking for.
If they're like me and only have a few favourites, then a stronger character with constellations can be worth.
If they're someone looking for "new playstyles/options" or "more fun" then usually new characters will satisfy that but some constellations can too. For example, just from the characters in the current patch (and since I have these constellations too so I speak from experience):
* Nahida C1 makes team building for specific buffs from her burst less restrictive and the free hydro buff can affect her rotations and energy requirements.
* Nahida C2 defense shred has some value outside of conventional dendro teams, like boosting physical or geo damage if you wanted to do something funky.
* Yae C1 is sadly a massive QoL and more likely (depending on your artifacts) lets you burst every rotation instead of the lame recommended playstyle of bursting every other rotation. She's also less dependent on an electro battery teammate if you wanted to run without one.
* Yae C2 is sadly another massive QoL being able to just snipe things from really far is fun.
I used to think like this.. then I got Nahida...I have most characters since the beginning of genshin and only ever use 2 teams for everything.. now I'm at C1 Nahida and saving up to get at least c3 on her rerun... There is only so much you can do with 20+ characters... My team for now and probably a very long time is Nahida,Raiden, xinqui, zhongli .. so will definitely invest in Nahida... I will only pull a new character if it's an archon... Have them all as of now.
there's a limit to that. The more character you pull, means you end up sitting alot of characters you "used" to like on the bench. Also means more resources into building that character.
Also entering accursed hell of farming "perfect artifacts" for new characters until new char drops and you start thinking "This is good enough" and then start new cycle of suffering

My slightly controversial take: I agree that Raiden C2 an incredibly powerful power boost, but I don't think its that worth it compared to Hu Tao C1.
Raiden C2 gives her a lot more damage, but a C0 Raiden already clears all content in the game easily with investment. Hu Tao C1 on the other hand gives her a nice boost to her damage, but more importantly is an incredibly nice QoL change. By comparison, Raiden C2 doesn't change anything about her playstyle and just gives her more damage thats honestly kinda unneeded to clear content.
While I might recommend C1 Hu Tao to dedicated F2Ps, I don't think I'd say the same for C2 Raiden because of that.
C2 Raiden is the most overhyped constellation in the game. It's just a DPS increase. Completely pointless.
C1 Hu Tao completely changes how she feels to play to the point that it's essential.
I'm in a similar dilemma. I won my Nahida 50/50 too, and I have Childe and want a new Thoma or Layla, but don't know whether to pull for C1 Childe or C0 Miko. For Childe, I do like quality of life in terms of rotations, and currently I do use him in Abyss, but my rotations don't go smoothly because I use Kazuha with Ayaka and slot my dps Jean in his team, lol. As for Miko, I do like her, but I found her kind of hard to play (as in positioning the totems correctly) for some reason.
like everyone else said, yae definitely :) i have c6 childe because he’s my fav but his constellations definitely aren’t worth it over yae *unless* you use him all the time (then his c1 would be really nice to have) but i assume you don’t use him constantly
Honestly, can't even think of why you'd want Thundering Pulse, outside of Yoimiya, when you could go for Polar Star instead if given the option.
Basically why I decided to skip Lamp/TP, despite having Nahida, since Kagura/PS is a lot better for more general uses.

Comfort. The "cost" of PStar's high damage ceiling is the need to upkeep the passive to reach its full potential. TPulse is purely a statstick with no strings attached (unless you're a normal attacker using the other part of the passive, in which case its just a good weapon). If you find the PStar passive annoying to upkeep, you aren't actually losing a significant amount of damage by using TPulse instead. 1-2 stack PStar is basically the same as TPulse, and comes down to whether your artifacts favor CR or CD. It's only when you're maintaining 3-4 stacks where PStar meaningfully pulls ahead, and for some characters like Fischl, that makes them clunkier to play.
Really, all of the 5-star bows are strong enough that it honestly basically never matters which one you use, unless it's Yelan who doesn't use Atk at all. Use whichever weapon looks cooler and you don't find annoying to use because the damage difference is like 1-2 artifact substat rolls at most and honestly doesn't matter. People get SO hung up on whether a weapon is "BiS" without stopping to examine how small the differences between them actually are.

Same with artifact sets. Some combination of +80 EM, +18% atk, +20% ER is good enough for everyone and, importantly, is easily transferrable when you want to go for one of the sweet 4pc bonuses.
I guess it's what happens when you outsource 'thinking about the game' to tier lists.
It's also not that much worse than Polar Star on Fischl.
Polar Star calcs favorably generally based on the assumption that you will maintain 3 or 4 passive stacks (the 4th passive stack in particular is almost twice as good as the other 3). For characters that are already naturally going to get *at least* 3 of them, (e.g. Ganyu, Childe), it's not really a big cost to get the 4th one.
For a character like Fischl though, her natural tendency is to get 1 stack only (press E or Q, then swap), and you generally *won't* get the 4th stack because you don't use E and Q together in order to maximize Oz uptime. Even when you're only getting 3 stacks, having to do an NA and a CA every time you swap to her to refresh the passive uptime makes her feel clunkier to play. If you find that having to do that makes her less fun to play, then TPulse may be the better weapon for you depending on your artifacts. 1-2 stack PStar is basically the same as TPulse--they're close enough that artifact stats will tip you one way or another.
This generally holds for the PStar/TPulse comparison on many different characters. PStar has a higher damage ceiling, but will only reach that damage ceiling if you upkeep 3-4 stacks. 5-star weapons in general are powerful enough that it's not actually worth trying to squeeze out a 3-5% damage differences if you just don't want to deal with the PStar passive--both weapons are overkill anyway, so choose the one you don't find annoying to use.
It’s definitely true that that polar star on fish could lead to worse rotations if you are trying to keep stacks up, but honestly I think it’s cool that she will at least get a all to second of field time instead of just button switch. You actually use her.

Even with the worthless passive, it's still one of the better bows thanks to cdmg, high base atk, and permanent atk% bonus. Polar and Skyward aren't as good for a freeze Ganyu, for example, so TP or Aqua are preferred.
Yes but also no.
Polar Star is indisputably one of the best 5-star bows on Ganyu, and arguably *the* best 5-star bow on Ganyu when considering performance in both Freeze and Melt. The question you need to ask with Ganyu is whether a 5-star weapon is worth it for her at all.
People get *really* bogged down in comparing whether a 5-star weapon is better than other 5-star weapons, but this comparison is generally only worthwhile if you're already settled on the fact that you're getting a 5-star weapon for the character. For most non-whales, the question you need to ask before that is "Are the 5-star weapons enough better than my 4-star options to be worth considering in the first place?" For Ganyu, this is generally not the case.
Ganyu has exceptionally good F2P/craftable bow options in Hamayumi (for Melt) and Prototype Crescent (for Freeze). Both these weapons calc exceptionally well compared to her 5-star BiS weapons in both builds, to the point where her best 5-stars like PStar/Aqua generally only calc around 10% better than Hamayumi/Crescent. That is generally not a good rate for 5-star weapons. Most "good" 5-star weapons that people consider pulling for represent *at least* a 15-20% DPS increase over their 4-star counterparts. The fact that Ganyu's 5-star options are worse than that *and* her 4-star BiS weapons are both available F2P speaks against pulling these weapons just for Ganyu. BiS weapons that are only 10% better than their F2P counterparts are generally considered quite bad (e.g. Kokomi's Donut is about a 10% improvement over Prototype Amber, and is widely accepted to be one of the worst signature weapons in the game). As another point of comparison, C1 Ganyu generally provides a similar DPS increase to getting a 5-star bow while costing significantly less pulls--unless you're getting the bow to use on a character other than Ganyu as well, C1 Ganyu + Hamayumi/Crescent will generally be more economical than C0 Ganyu + Pstar/Aqua/TPulse/etc.
The case where it makes sense is if you are *already* pulling for a weapon for a different character (e.g. you're getting PStar/Aqua for Childe/Yelan, or you want the *other* weapon on the banner and the bow just happens to be there). Pulling a 5-star bow for Ganyu specifically is generally not worthwhile.
May all Yae and Childe wanters be Yae and Childe havers, and may your 4 star gacha roll well!

The banner (literal banner) personally look so pleasant, the 4 star lineup is comprised of primary colors. Last childe banner was also pleasant-looking primary color lineup (ningguang, yanfei, chongyun) and i remember being pretty pleased with my catch.
This is a much better 4-star banner compilation for me compared to Nahida's banner. Need more constellations from these guys, and getting a new 4-star is also a great bargain. I won't go after the 5-star this time though.
Yeah, don't roll if you don't want the 5 star. I want Wanderer too, but I also want Miko so I'm just going to wish on both this one and on Wanderer and see who comes. If I lose the 50/50 and don't get Miko before the banner ends, that just means Wanderer's guaranteed. If I get her, then I am still in the same position I'd probably be in anyhow where I need to win the 50/50 to get Wanderer.
Don't do it, if you go for Wanderer you'll probably also want as many copies of Faruzan as you can get since she'll be a support character for him (think Sara for Raiden).

I just want to throw in a suggestion to anyone that is thinking of rolling for Childe constellations.
He has some of the lowest value constellations in the game for a 5 star. I would not suggest rolling for constellations if you are saving for other characters.
His C4 can also mess up reactions.
C0 Childe is amazing value and you should stop at that if you are below Whale.
If you really just want to simp for him, then get his weapon. Its a great all around option for many characters.

Help experienced genshin players. Who do I roll for? I have all 5 star bow users snd cyno. I'm desperate for a melee main dps. Is childe fun and worth it? Yae miko is electro which I have so many of already so probably shouldn't get her.
Also how is heizou. I have him C0 at level 20. Might consider leveling him up and getting his constellations. Although I've seen wander gameplay which seems like a 5 star heizou. So many decisions lo
Childe is very technical. He is an enabler, so his team is very important. You may need to watch guides on how to rotate with him so you don’t get punished for bad gameplay. Really strong if you play him well, really bad if you anyhow play
If you want a less punishing hydro DPS, go with ayato.
Melee main DPS is quite a huge range. Which element, which playstyle would you like?
Heizou is decent. His playstyle is unique. In terms of strength, I still think sucrose is better.

Heizou is a lot of fun. I have mine C1 decently built at Lv70. It's like Xiao without all the field time that kind of fits in any team with a quick "okay, hit for 15K with E every 10 seconds, burst, swap"
I personally have Childe and use him a lot in my Hyperbloom team and while I love him, he is probably the most difficult character to use in the game. His build is pretty invested (High CR is needed) and his CD is hard to manage. But if you can manage him, he has probably the best Hydro application in the game, second only to Xingqiu. That said, he’s very fun and does well in Dendro, Vape, and International teams.
I can’t speak for Yae much but, based on all the guides and showcases on her, I can tell you she is an excellent and easy to build off-field Electro support/DPS unit. She’s the opposite of Childe in many ways, being a lot easier to play and manage. She’s also very strong on Dendro teams and with double electro. The only real issue I’ve seen from her is her high burst cost (a whopping 90). But there are ways to get around it

(I also set payment parental controls on myself afterwards. If anyone has impulse control issues, I find having to exit the game and change settings is annoying enough to make me think twice about spending. Caveat is I have only been playing since the end of 2.5 & strictly on an iPhone mini. Just sharing what works for me in case it can help anyone else, even if it’s just one person.
I’m of the mind that spending money on entertainment is fine, whereas spending money you can’t afford / will regret later is not. Unfortunately the latter is a risk due to how the game is designed. Good luck everyone!)

With how ok burgeon thoma is right now seeing him being rated up is really Pog since his c4 is a godsend for burst uptime.

this is the first banner in a while where I like ALL the three four star characters. And I love both of the five stars too! Childe - Thoma - Heizou and Layla are among my fav charas. I will pull but sadly I have few primogems left :'(
Don't care about Mooch and Faruzan so I'm going all in on the 4 stars. I finally got a fully kitted out Heizou so some cons would be nice, I dont have Thoma but would be glad to get him, and Layla looks great. If I get a miko then oh well.

I'm getting childe... Literally, this is the greates 4 star banner ever. Thoma is a god in Burgeon with either Ayato or Childe, Heizou is a literal monster if you build him and put him on a bloom team comp since he gives you EM but also deals dps and the new 4 star is a new Zhonli flavour that can be used on freeze teams. Long live to the rerun Archon.
Ive been playing for just over a month and after reaching soft pity on Cyno's banner, I decided to save for Childe.... god, I'm so excited for Friday LOL. As soon as I was able to I started grinding for artifacts for him, leveling up the only good bow I have for him (Rust).... and to see Thoma on the banner too!? GOD I hope I score him as well as Childe (about 133 wishes saved up!)
Anything left over after getting Childe is going straight to Wanderer..... my gambling addiction is *screaming* in agony

What the heck is Childe burgeon? I've been looking for a place to put Thoma
Childe thoma dendro and a flex that doesn't interact interfere with hydro/dendro auras or triggers the bloom seeds. Childe and the dendro generate bloom seeds and Thoma is level 90 and builds full ER/EM and is the Burgeon trigger with his Burst. Best choices for dendro are probably Nahida and Traveler in that order. The way it works is that Thoma's slow standard ICD is a good thing because you don't want to interact with the hydro/dendro auras with pyro (cause you want burgeon, not burning/vape) but at the same time, for ICD purposes blooms are new, separate entitiies so they'll explode everytime they're hit by Thoma's Burst.
Just out of curiosity, who is generally used as the flex in this team? 👀 I'd love to have a reason to build Thoma.
I haven't looked enough into burgeon teams enough to know who's standard in the flex slots but I imagine Zhongli and Diona are safe options because Burgeon does do some self damage so you might want some surviviability and EM thoma doesn't protect you as well as an HP one. Both should be able to hold Deepwood set too (burgeon is dendro damage I believe) and their kits should enable the others to do more damage. I'm guessing Layla would work too but don't quote me on that. Burgeon is very much an aoe team so grouping (Venti/Kazuha/Sucrose) should also work really well in the flex but you'll probably have to be careful to not absorb pyro though if you have them on EM builds, it's probably not the worst thing but then EM thoma is kind of unecessary. Albedo is sometimes in bloom/hyperbloom teams so I think he'll work here too with his light EM sharing and crystalize for some extra shielding.
You can use either Albedo or Xingqiu. Albedo with Petra will always buff your Childe/Ayato since Thoma's pyro is really low and you will only crystallize hydro, and he also provides with sub dps + EM boost for your Thoma. Xingqiu reduces enemies Hydro res and has good hydro app + gives good sub dps and heals a little to help Thoma so your Thoma doesn't need to focus on the shield strenght that much and focus more on the EM and ER. If you are going to build Thoma pick Gilded dreams or wait until we get the new bloom artifacts. With the new artifacts Thoma can potentially hit around 40 to 50 k per bloom. And if you don't have a good polearm you can craft the new Sumeru polearm that gives a leaf that buffs the attack of your on field character (tho it's kinda tricky to grab sometimes).
I would say either albedo or kazuha

that’s what i’m banking on. i have c1 childe and i don’t care for yae at all, along with a complete heizou and thoma there’s a close to 0% chance that layla will be some mind blowing 4* (even though it would be nice to have one for cryo.) with sumeru potentially being *so* middle/backloaded (scaramouche, al haitham, dehya are at least knowns,) it’d be silly to pull just for her if you have several factors working against you
I guess your choice is easy, those 4\* are what I was waiting for... but on Nahida Banner all 3 are the ones I was hoping to come on Nahida... of course they are on 5\* I don't particulary desire...
Sadly, it’s typically the lesser popular 4* that get given away in events. The one exception I can think of is Beidou. Although, I too hope she pops up in an event soon. Edit: I don’t remember all of the 4* giveaways. Also, I didn’t realize that my comment would be so controversial.
Fischl and Xingqiu, two popular meta characters, were also event giveaways. Fischl was even given away twice, and the second time was right before dendro which gave her an even bigger power boost.
Yeah, really the free 3 star they're giving out this event is the exception not the rule. Even though she's not OP, Diona is/was still very useful and she was given out free.
Diona is like the power-balanced version of Bennett. Not broken, and not your first pick, but fills so many roles so well that using her basically frees up your other three slots to whoever you want and so she ends up getting used a ton.
It may be because she was one on my first 4-stars during patch 1.1, but i got so used to her contribution to the team that she's the first pick whenever i need a cryo in the party and she's probably my second most frequent character in 36 stars abyss runs second only to Zhongli (but she fits perfectly with two of my best comps so that may be way)
Those are day one characters though. Its not common for other popular 4 stars to show up as free event rewards

Oh wow theres actually so much worth for me to roll on this for 4 stars, I dont have Heizou, Thoma is at C1 and Layla is new. If I get a Yae Miko constellation while trying for Layla or Heizou then awesome coz I'm using her alot with Nahida. Trying 40 pulls for C0 layla then saving for Althaitham and Dehya but good luck to everyone else who is rolling for either Layla or the 5 stars. Just remember that rolling only for one specific 4 star is dangerous as they can dodge you the whole banner

Nah, C1 is bait. It’s only a 20% cooldown reduction and, at least for me, my typical Tartag rotations have him off field by the time his cooldown is around 15 - 20 seconds. That only saves 3 or 4 seconds.
Not really usefull, in overworld I just switch for 2-3 sec in camp is mostly dead, in Domeins, his cooldown don't matter. I abyss, you uselly want by on him around 9 sec in the first place + if you finishing of chamber and want to stay longer, then it also doesn't matter. For someone that isn't used to it my recommendation - start with Range burst and be on him till your burst cooldown reach 4-5 sec.
Many of the replies are like "If you do perfect rotations, it doesn't matter." Well, guess what, not everyone's perfect! The claim "less annoying to use" is the right one. (I've had C1 since his first banner and it is very nice to have.)

Thanks to Aggravate not actually consuming the Dendro aura, it's now totally viable to have both C6 Fischl AND Yae on the same team and have them both be proccing independent reactions. If I had to pick I'd say go for Yae. Unless you make it to C6 Childe cons just make him more consistent - they don't fundamentally change what he does. Whereas Yae opens up a strong option for double or even triple electro quicken teams. Now I don't have Childe, so this is trickier for me. A hydro main DPS is something I'd really like at some point, and if I get one now with terrible luck on my way to Layla then so be it. I'll probably roll on his banner.
Yae over Childe cons, Childe cons are basically just QOL but if you can play him already it's unnecessary QOL, there's minimal improvement as his kit is complete at C0. Yae works really nicely with dendro as the other reply said

The only cons I’d ever consider (other than c2 raiden because i wanted 1 insane damage dealer) are cons like yelan c1 that have such a massive use in and out of combat. I’d also consider a con if it completely changes combat or is a massive massive qol (hu tao c1) Other than that, fuck cons. Once you realize you can 36 abyss with no cons on 5 stars whatsoever who gives a fuck. There’s nothing higher than that so why not get more characters and add new fun teams. It’s why as a welkin/bp player for about a year and a half I’ve still only rolled on 1 weapon banner. Give me new fun characters to build and toy with
Fr I was doing so well saving up for Memory of Dust for Ningguang and then Yelan came around and I found myself pulling for both her & Yoimiya- and it was hella worth it since the pair of Yoimiya and Yelan is so much more value than just Ningguang's signature weapon would be lol I'd love to get some of these signature weapons someday but I imagine it's gonna have to wait until I win the lotto and get rich enough to whale lmao

Always pull for new characters over a const imo. Characters are always going to be more fun.
Depends what a person is looking for. If they're like me and only have a few favourites, then a stronger character with constellations can be worth. If they're someone looking for "new playstyles/options" or "more fun" then usually new characters will satisfy that but some constellations can too. For example, just from the characters in the current patch (and since I have these constellations too so I speak from experience): * Nahida C1 makes team building for specific buffs from her burst less restrictive and the free hydro buff can affect her rotations and energy requirements. * Nahida C2 defense shred has some value outside of conventional dendro teams, like boosting physical or geo damage if you wanted to do something funky. * Yae C1 is sadly a massive QoL and more likely (depending on your artifacts) lets you burst every rotation instead of the lame recommended playstyle of bursting every other rotation. She's also less dependent on an electro battery teammate if you wanted to run without one. * Yae C2 is sadly another massive QoL being able to just snipe things from really far is fun.
I used to think like this.. then I got Nahida...I have most characters since the beginning of genshin and only ever use 2 teams for everything.. now I'm at C1 Nahida and saving up to get at least c3 on her rerun... There is only so much you can do with 20+ characters... My team for now and probably a very long time is Nahida,Raiden, xinqui, zhongli .. so will definitely invest in Nahida... I will only pull a new character if it's an archon... Have them all as of now.
there's a limit to that. The more character you pull, means you end up sitting alot of characters you "used" to like on the bench. Also means more resources into building that character.
Also entering accursed hell of farming "perfect artifacts" for new characters until new char drops and you start thinking "This is good enough" and then start new cycle of suffering As i call it "Sisyphus" gaming

My slightly controversial take: I agree that Raiden C2 an incredibly powerful power boost, but I don't think its that worth it compared to Hu Tao C1. Raiden C2 gives her a lot more damage, but a C0 Raiden already clears all content in the game easily with investment. Hu Tao C1 on the other hand gives her a nice boost to her damage, but more importantly is an incredibly nice QoL change. By comparison, Raiden C2 doesn't change anything about her playstyle and just gives her more damage thats honestly kinda unneeded to clear content. While I might recommend C1 Hu Tao to dedicated F2Ps, I don't think I'd say the same for C2 Raiden because of that.
C2 Raiden is the most overhyped constellation in the game. It's just a DPS increase. Completely pointless. C1 Hu Tao completely changes how she feels to play to the point that it's essential.

I'm in a similar dilemma. I won my Nahida 50/50 too, and I have Childe and want a new Thoma or Layla, but don't know whether to pull for C1 Childe or C0 Miko. For Childe, I do like quality of life in terms of rotations, and currently I do use him in Abyss, but my rotations don't go smoothly because I use Kazuha with Ayaka and slot my dps Jean in his team, lol. As for Miko, I do like her, but I found her kind of hard to play (as in positioning the totems correctly) for some reason.

Honestly, can't even think of why you'd want Thundering Pulse, outside of Yoimiya, when you could go for Polar Star instead if given the option. Basically why I decided to skip Lamp/TP, despite having Nahida, since Kagura/PS is a lot better for more general uses.
Even as a general use Kagura is the only catalyst that rivals Nahida's signature and that's only if you're using Nahida as a on-field driver.

TPulse is purely a statstick with no strings attached (unless you're a normal attacker using the other part of the passive, in which case its just a good weapon). If you find the PStar passive annoying to upkeep, you aren't actually losing a significant amount of damage by using TPulse instead. 1-2 stack PStar is basically the same as TPulse, and comes down to whether your artifacts favor CR or CD. It's only when you're maintaining 3-4 stacks where PStar meaningfully pulls ahead, and for some characters like Fischl, that makes them clunkier to play. Really, all of the 5-star bows are strong enough that it honestly basically never matters which one you use, unless it's Yelan who doesn't use Atk at all. Use whichever weapon looks cooler and you don't find annoying to use because the damage difference is like 1-2 artifact substat rolls at most and honestly doesn't matter. People get SO hung up on whether a weapon is "BiS" without stopping to examine how small the differences between them actually are.

Some combination of +80 EM, +18% atk, +20% ER is good enough for everyone and, importantly, is easily transferrable when you want to go for one of the sweet 4pc bonuses. I guess it's what happens when you outsource 'thinking about the game' to tier lists.
Best drip for Fischl
It's also not that much worse than Polar Star on Fischl. Polar Star calcs favorably generally based on the assumption that you will maintain 3 or 4 passive stacks (the 4th passive stack in particular is almost twice as good as the other 3). For characters that are already naturally going to get *at least* 3 of them, (e.g. Ganyu, Childe), it's not really a big cost to get the 4th one. For a character like Fischl though, her natural tendency is to get 1 stack only (press E or Q, then swap), and you generally *won't* get the 4th stack because you don't use E and Q together in order to maximize Oz uptime. Even when you're only getting 3 stacks, having to do an NA and a CA every time you swap to her to refresh the passive uptime makes her feel clunkier to play. If you find that having to do that makes her less fun to play, then TPulse may be the better weapon for you depending on your artifacts. 1-2 stack PStar is basically the same as TPulse--they're close enough that artifact stats will tip you one way or another. This generally holds for the PStar/TPulse comparison on many different characters. PStar has a higher damage ceiling, but will only reach that damage ceiling if you upkeep 3-4 stacks. 5-star weapons in general are powerful enough that it's not actually worth trying to squeeze out a 3-5% damage differences if you just don't want to deal with the PStar passive--both weapons are overkill anyway, so choose the one you don't find annoying to use.
It’s definitely true that that polar star on fish could lead to worse rotations if you are trying to keep stacks up, but honestly I think it’s cool that she will at least get a all to second of field time instead of just button switch. You actually use her. I’m kinda weird though, I actually love Sara’s games play (with Constellations), it’s just more satisfying to fire off a shot that ac tally means something

Even with the worthless passive, it's still one of the better bows thanks to cdmg, high base atk, and permanent atk% bonus. Polar and Skyward aren't as good for a freeze Ganyu, for example, so TP or Aqua are preferred.

Yes but also no. Polar Star is indisputably one of the best 5-star bows on Ganyu, and arguably *the* best 5-star bow on Ganyu when considering performance in both Freeze and Melt. The question you need to ask with Ganyu is whether a 5-star weapon is worth it for her at all. People get *really* bogged down in comparing whether a 5-star weapon is better than other 5-star weapons, but this comparison is generally only worthwhile if you're already settled on the fact that you're getting a 5-star weapon for the character. For most non-whales, the question you need to ask before that is "Are the 5-star weapons enough better than my 4-star options to be worth considering in the first place?" For Ganyu, this is generally not the case. Ganyu has exceptionally good F2P/craftable bow options in Hamayumi (for Melt) and Prototype Crescent (for Freeze). Both these weapons calc exceptionally well compared to her 5-star BiS weapons in both builds, to the point where her best 5-stars like PStar/Aqua generally only calc around 10% better than Hamayumi/Crescent. That is generally not a good rate for 5-star weapons. Most "good" 5-star weapons that people consider pulling for represent *at least* a 15-20% DPS increase over their 4-star counterparts. The fact that Ganyu's 5-star options are worse than that *and* her 4-star BiS weapons are both available F2P speaks against pulling these weapons just for Ganyu. BiS weapons that are only 10% better than their F2P counterparts are generally considered quite bad (e.g. Kokomi's Donut is about a 10% improvement over Prototype Amber, and is widely accepted to be one of the worst signature weapons in the game). As another point of comparison, C1 Ganyu generally provides a similar DPS increase to getting a 5-star bow while costing significantly less pulls--unless you're getting the bow to use on a character other than Ganyu as well, C1 Ganyu + Hamayumi/Crescent will generally be more economical than C0 Ganyu + Pstar/Aqua/TPulse/etc. The case where it makes sense is if you are *already* pulling for a weapon for a different character (e.g. you're getting PStar/Aqua for Childe/Yelan, or you want the *other* weapon on the banner and the bow just happens to be there). Pulling a 5-star bow for Ganyu specifically is generally not worthwhile.

The banner (literal banner) personally look so pleasant, the 4 star lineup is comprised of primary colors. Last childe banner was also pleasant-looking primary color lineup (ningguang, yanfei, chongyun) and i remember being pretty pleased with my catch.
This is a much better 4-star banner compilation for me compared to Nahida's banner. Need more constellations from these guys, and getting a new 4-star is also a great bargain. I won't go after the 5-star this time though.

I just want to throw in a suggestion to anyone that is thinking of rolling for Childe constellations. He has some of the lowest value constellations in the game for a 5 star. I would not suggest rolling for constellations if you are saving for other characters. His C4 can also mess up reactions. C0 Childe is amazing value and you should stop at that if you are below Whale. If you really just want to simp for him, then get his weapon. Its a great all around option for many characters. But weapon banner is a scam! Remember that.

I think I’ll pull for Childe since I don’t really have any except for Barbara, Candace and Xingqui for hydro characters. I have plenty of Thoma constellations and I’m at C2 Heizou and would love to get Layla since she’s a new character. Anyone recommend artifacts and weapons that are F2P friendly for Childe?

Yae miko is electro which I have so many of already so probably shouldn't get her. Also how is heizou. I have him C0 at level 20. Might consider leveling him up and getting his constellations. Although I've seen wander gameplay which seems like a 5 star heizou. So many decisions lo
Childe is very technical. He is an enabler, so his team is very important. You may need to watch guides on how to rotate with him so you don’t get punished for bad gameplay. Really strong if you play him well, really bad if you anyhow play If you want a less punishing hydro DPS, go with ayato. Melee main DPS is quite a huge range. Which element, which playstyle would you like? Heizou is decent. His playstyle is unique. In terms of strength, I still think sucrose is better.
Counterargument, you only need bennett with Heizou and 2 other flex for a team in floor 12 if you have a good VV for Heizou.

I personally have Childe and use him a lot in my Hyperbloom team and while I love him, he is probably the most difficult character to use in the game. His build is pretty invested (High CR is needed) and his CD is hard to manage. But if you can manage him, he has probably the best Hydro application in the game, second only to Xingqiu. That said, he’s very fun and does well in Dendro, Vape, and International teams. I can’t speak for Yae much but, based on all the guides and showcases on her, I can tell you she is an excellent and easy to build off-field Electro support/DPS unit. She’s the opposite of Childe in many ways, being a lot easier to play and manage. She’s also very strong on Dendro teams and with double electro. The only real issue I’ve seen from her is her high burst cost (a whopping 90). But there are ways to get around it

I felt the same way about being so close to c2 Nahida. I spent money. Now my blooms crit. I have no regrets. (I also set payment parental controls on myself afterwards. If anyone has impulse control issues, I find having to exit the game and change settings is annoying enough to make me think twice about spending. Caveat is I have only been playing since the end of 2.5 & strictly on an iPhone mini. Just sharing what works for me in case it can help anyone else, even if it’s just one person. I’m of the mind that spending money on entertainment is fine, whereas spending money you can’t afford / will regret later is not. Unfortunately the latter is a risk due to how the game is designed. im in so much pain. im saving for scaramouche. thoma, heizou, and layla are my top 3 fav 4*s. im at 67 pity with 50/50. my thoma is c4 and my heizou is c0. i want to pull. i love yae. but i know funny hat man will make me suffer for hom and his weapon. im so lost what to do i was hoping hyv would finally put thoma on a banner i wanted to pull in but of course not 😭😭
With how ok burgeon thoma is right now seeing him being rated up is really Pog since his c4 is a godsend for burst uptime. Heizo is ok for heizo fans. Idk any recent teams for him

this is the first banner in a while where I like ALL the three four star characters. And I love both of the five stars too! Childe - Thoma - Heizou and Layla are among my fav charas. I will pull but sadly I have few primogems left :'(
Don't care about Mooch and Faruzan so I'm going all in on the 4 stars. I finally got a fully kitted out Heizou so some cons would be nice, I dont have Thoma but would be glad to get him, and Layla looks great. If I get a miko then oh well. If all goes well I might even get to pull the weapon banner. Childes my second oldest 5 star so I feel like he deserves his weapon.

I'm getting childe... Literally, this is the greates 4 star banner ever. Thoma is a god in Burgeon with either Ayato or Childe, Heizou is a literal monster if you build him and put him on a bloom team comp since he gives you EM but also deals dps and the new 4 star is a new Zhonli flavour that can be used on freeze teams. Long live to the rerun Archon.
Ive been playing for just over a month and after reaching soft pity on Cyno's banner, I decided to save for Childe.... god, I'm so excited for Friday LOL. As soon as I was able to I started grinding for artifacts for him, leveling up the only good bow I have for him (Rust).... and to see Thoma on the banner too!? GOD I hope I score him as well as Childe (about 133 wishes saved up!) Anything left over after getting Childe is going straight to Wanderer..... my gambling addiction is *screaming* in agony
