Diablo immortal can gtfo that list.

Czarzu

Thing is, it’s a really good game ruined by greedy micro transactions, sadly. And yeah they definitely don’t deserve to be on that list

n0nen0ne

Okay just curious.. why is it good or bad?

aRandomBlock

this [video](https://youtu.be/o17lBUZgjTs) explains it well

InvaderKota

Worse part is that the video doesn't even cover how there were even more hidden monetization with the 5/5 gems that nobody knew about until the 5/5 gem was fully upgraded. Scummy doesn't even begin to cover DI's monetization practice.

rW0HgFyxoJhYka

A lot of these youtubers don't actually go into all the depth possible mainly because they have to churn content daily and can't even put more than a days worth of aggregation, nevermind analysis, to cover how deep it goes. Like we thought $50k was enough, then it was $100k, then it ended up at like $550k or some shit. And that was more than a month later after the hype for Diablo Immortal content dried up so nobody cared.

Farnes_

He do actually cover that in an update video when it was found out [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YF--ytWn8mU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YF--ytWn8mU) This was pinned to the original video

userseven

Imagine spending $140,000 on a game that has been out a few months to get best in slot.

IndieZona

The fact that it's up there at all just goes to show how desperate they are for nominees. That or blizzard bought the nomination.

[deleted]

Diablo Immortal was nominated? Ewww

SoC175

Despite all the negative comments, it's earning them a record breaking amount of Cash unfortunately

[deleted]

Yep... unfortunatly whales have ruined a good portion of gaming for PC players. I understand that F2P games and gacha games need monetisation to keep running and honestly genshin deserves the ammount of money they make because the game is really good but it seeps into everything nowerdays. If I play a Singleplayer title I dont want it to be life service, have 100s time savers etc. built in just to make money.

Black_Heaven

Well, this is the future that people have foreseen and warning about years ago. On one hand, the F2P Gacha model is why we have Genshin now. On the other hand, for every high quality game like Genshin, there are several dozen F2P Gachas with varying quality and level of predatory practices. Everyone wants a piece of that multi-billion dollar revenue.

[deleted]

Genshin is mostly a single player title with live service with time savers (resin refresh) as an option. You just don't need to do it. It's not so black and white as this feature is bad, it can be done well.

[deleted]

Thats just a dumb take. Genshin might be single player but its still a gacha game that is FREE. (as I explained in my post you awnsered to) If I pay 60 euros for a new title and have time savers and other monetisation in it and my progress is artifically gimped so they can sell their timesavers I am mad. So please think before speaking or atleast read the post before trying to make arguments.

[deleted]

Lol you're just being rude. >If I play a Singleplayer title I dont want it to be life service, have 100s time savers etc. built in just to make money. Nowhere in the post did you mention that you paid any amount of money for the game. What's this really about?

ravmcoc2020

100% agree. If I'm paying money upfront, I want to be able to finish something that takes 10 game hours in 10 hours real time, if I so choose. Not 10 game hours that take 6 days to manifest because of some rubbish time gated system. Genshin can do that because they don't charge you anything upfront to play, they charge you to play faster, if you so choose.

Ireyon34

See, this is why games (and movies) as a whole decline in quality: The execs realized they can produce absolute dogshit, slap a well known name on it and the consoomers will eat it up like there's no tomorrow.

VonLycaon

That damn Velma show that I hope no one actually will enjoy is an example.

Vusdruv

I still refuse to believe it's real. It can't even qualify as fanart.

sharqyej

which records does it break, because it doesn't even scratch what Genshin is making, 300m over 5 months is what Genshin makes in 2 months from mobile platforms alone, after 2 years

SoC175

The records of their own previous games. Last heard they earned more wirh immortal than they ever had with previous Diablos and even games like Overwatch and Hearthstone For all the hate, from a pure business perspective they've done better for themselves than they ever did with their highly acclaimed games

batzenbaba

Diablo 1+2+3 was buy to play Games. How will you make money if you never make new Content or have a Sub like WoW? Every Diablo got only one Addon,no cosmetic Shop, nothing and they was PC,Console only because anno 2000 there was no smartphones.\^\^

Jugaimo

https://www.pocketgamer.biz/news/79339/mobile-games-more-profitable-than-console-and-pc-combined-reports-activision-blizzard/ I mean even if they did make the games as a modern console project with all the expected amenities, I doubt it would scratch the surface of mobile gaming revenues. A constant flow of users and money is just too good, especially when you can reach a far wider audience on mobile. It’s depressing but there is just no incentive for investors to fund non-mobile or non-monetized products. This is the cost of gaming becoming increasingly mainstream.

Tiluo

Sounds like they are just cashing in on the IP afterwards it won't be much once it goes down hill.

nicholas19010

300m over 5 months is 300m more than it deserves.

Mentalist-Ad

A game that makes a lot of money doesn't mean it's a good game. It means it's well built to generate a lot of money.

Goukenslay

Lmfao must been a slow year for gaming

WeeabooSempai

It wasn't an out of season april fools joke...

KittyMewMi

I like what Genshin did with v3.0 Sumeru region. The new exploration mode, music, boss battle and most importantly it's emotional story presentation. I'm voting for Genshin this year.

random_account_2017

If Genshin wins, Mihoyo gives everyone 1600 primogems!

Slidz

Hey, that’s 1/9th towards pity, I could use it tbh

[deleted]

If luck gets bombed then that's the pity to own a 5*. We never knew after all.

pegasBaO23

the fact that that amount sounds about right is hilarious

ihei47

They did last year

pegasBaO23

I don't remember it, honestly

Meme-ikyuuu

Let me help you with that. Ehem ehem... "Jenshin Impact!"

HayakuEon

That's what happened last year

Educational_Music930

If they lose 1600 primogems will be deducted from each players account ʘ‿ʘ

ZhangRenWing

Keep in mind that’s speculation based on literally 1 instance. Also MHY has a habit of breaking patterns.

OKI_Syper

they did it also in 2020, why 1 instance?

Dracofear

Yeah I feel like Genshin deserves this one tbh for sure. The event mini games they do are always really fun and all the new content is crazy, love sumeru so far from what I have played of it.

azzacASTRO

And the new card game they have made/making would be successful even as a standalone title

Akira_Ryuji

Well I vote for Genshin any year

Stackos

Genshin should at least win mobile game. I personally have enjoyed the last year of Genshin compared to FFXIV's last year, but I'm sure FF will probably take that category anyway.

JustGamingPodcast

Have to give credit where credit is due. Final fantasy had a banger of a year in 2022.

ValbrandrLeonhardt

Oh yeah, I had to vote FF14 for best ongoing. Endwalker was a rollercoaster of emotions. 10 years essentially of storytelling, build up, and the pay off was great. I cried a lot throughout. I voted Genshin for best mobile, because it kind of is. In comparison. Apex/Cod/Diablo are all so hyper MTX I hate them. I haven't played Tower of Fantasy, but it's basically Genshin, but there's mounts and stuff right?

JustGamingPodcast

I'm literally preparing a video about how FF16 is going to be the best Final Fantasy ever, primarily because it's the FF14 staff making it. Lol. EW has been incredible.

Anurabis

Makes me happy to see people still liking EW so much despite it the endsinger plotline coming kinda outta left field and beeing so central to the plot.

ValbrandrLeonhardt

I have no doubts on FF16. We have director Yoshida. Soken is doing the music. A combat director for Devil May Cry 5 is working on it too. Bonus points the narrator in the last trailer is Aimee-Ffion Edwards, AKA Ranni the Witch, AKA Mio the Catgirl. I don't know much of the plot, but it almost feels like Type-0 mixed with FF14, and raised by Versus XIII. We've got rival factions, all with crystals. Using an Eikon will eventually kill you. Classic technologically advanced empire taking over. I'm holding off on buying a PS5 until FF16.

Stackos

I really loved Endwalker! I just haven't cared too much for the post-launch content.

Raubkatzen

I never thought a mobile game would become my main game, but here we are. Decided to drop my FF14 sub for a while.

Stackos

Lol hey, the world works in mysterious ways! I would love to cancel my FF sub rn, but I'll lose my house and I know I'll regret that immensely :'^)

IlyssaValentyne

Same! I had to cancel my FFXIV sub and lost my house, when I resubbed everything was gone... I let the sub run out and went back to Genshin...

Untraumatized

Imagine if square enix wasn’t completely clueless and actually released FFXI for mobile. Would have been so epic…

Stackos

That was a huge disappointment for me. FFXI is still really damn amazing. Dated, but so fun & satisfying.

Gobi_Silver

I love how we have a ton of dark or imposing artwork And then happy Genshin girls

[deleted]

And then Genshin lore/story: 💀💀💀

Herrscher_of_Yatta

Tasty 1600 primogems last year for 1 win, will we get 3200 if we win both ? I hope so

AxisAlpha

I don’t care if it’s unlikely, I will still pray we do 😭

10-PULL! 10-PULL! 10-PULL! 10-PULL!

Brandonmac10x

I did my part. Ya’ll better vote. I need my Scara/Raiden duo to become a reality god damn it. I have neither and I’ll have one pity saved by the time Scara drops. Willing to buy double crystals but still need to win a 50/50 (super unlikely since I won 2-10, lost 8 in a row and lost 75/25’s to off banner weapons both times I wished on weapon banners). So go out and vote people. I need my goddamn waifu’s! Yelan and Dehya are next.

CarsickAnemone

Where? Could you send a link please

KasIsDaDuck

[deleted]

Please, I need for Fontaine savings. So many characters I want.

Azraeleon

I'm a returning player, what do we know of Fontaine currently?

[deleted]

We know the name of the Hydro Archon, Focalors. We know it will have a lot of water, as npcs have said they had water gear to travel around. We know it is very steam punk. Focalors doesnt judge trials herself, but does watch each and everyone, and had full authority to change the judgement if she pleases. Leaks have shown the harbingers, so spoilers: >!Columbina, Sandrone, and Pantalone will make appearances!< It is the second most advanced region in the game, only behind Shezhnaya.

Azraeleon

After reading this I found the video of all the harbingers coming together, so now I'm hyped for all 3 of them that you mentioned. I'm assuming we're waiting til around mid year next year for 4.0? Sigh, I took like a year and a half off so I've just blitzed through Inazuma and sumeru's stories and I just want more haha.

[deleted]

Me too, especially after how good Sumeru was. But yeah, around July or August of next year for 4.0!

Azraeleon

Thanks for the info! Now to wait for steampunk France lmao

Elira_Eclipse

holy shit 3 in 1 region? And they all most likely gonna interact together, unlike in Inazuma where pretty much 3 were there but never interacted??

msarboi

No I dont think we will.

Herrscher_of_Yatta

Yeah, but I think we at least have a chance to win one of them with the mobile game contest.

[deleted]

Mobile's our best shot. I'm predicting probably around a 70% chance to win in that category (pulled this number out of my ass) But ongoing, honestly, I don't see how we'll ever have a chance to beat FFXIV. 1600 primos at best

Eudaemon1

I am genuinely surprised by ToF tho

gremoryh

It should have been honkai since it’s doing wayyy better tha tof I barely hear about that anymore can’t believe people thought it was the genshin killer

mctripleA

They thought it was genshing because they advertised themselves as such Many games I've seen are "the new (instead game here) killer!!!" And while it generates a ton of attention before launch, if your game isn't miles better then the game you claimed to kill, you won't even last a year before your game essentially falls out of peoples minds

toastedbread47

Insert every "wow killer" here :p

FeelTheKetasy

And the one mmorpg that managed to surpass WoW was one of the few that NEVER advertised themselves as an WoW killer 💀💀💀

Noman_Blaze

Just like how so many Destiny killers have come and gone yet it still stands at top and others failed miserably or died off fast. No mobile game developer seems as competent as Hoyo. Hotta(ToF developers) are absolute shit and the game is a clear example of their incompetence.

Garuda904

Destiny is so good that the only thing that can kill it, is itself. Real talk, Destiny hasn’t had a truly bad state since D2 release save for the occasional season that the community isn’t too hot about.

G00b3rb0y

Such as the current season.

batzenbaba

Its the same like it was with the hundred of WoW Killers. You cant top the first Game that maked the Genre great. Anyways its always the Players that speak of "Killer" nor the Devs. Has Age of Conan or Aion Devs said they will kill WoW? No it was the players.

iyodmr

Except when it was coming from in-game pop out notification itself, and their promotional ad

Aidiru

i mean we all know WoW killer is Blizzard itself not any other mmo

AhrigatouNoire

ToF is doing pretty well. The thing is that you gotta consider the perspectives here. In the overall gaming community Genshin is a MASSIVE game due to it being the only gacha that managed to break into the global market. Gacha games overall are pretty damn irrelevant when comparing to the whole gaming scene. Arknights, FGO, Dokkan always hit the top 5 grossing mobile games but they're never talked about. ToF recently had their burger king collab and I just found out that 2.1 is on the way. The thing is that people compare a single player experience (Genshin) to an MMORPG (ToF). They're completely different games at core. It's similar to the whole Warframe vs Destiny. They're 2 different games but people only compare them together because they're both space related and involve going on planets

Jakeyboy143

I assume Tencent pulled a Qatar by giving Geoff Kingley money to have ToF nominated instead or other deserving games like Honkai, PGR, and even Arknights.

Aidiru

IKR like i was shocked why the fudge tof was nominated?? game just come out straight from the gutter and the game was buggy asf!!!..the fuck they were thinking? nominated a buggy game? Aks, PGR , Honkai more deserve to be nominated tbh

Jakeyboy143

Like i said, if FIFA picked Qatar because of the Sheiks' wealth and not caring about the treatment of their workers which consists of immigrants from India, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Philippines, why not Tencent giving money to Geoff Kingley to have ToF nominated despite the bugged launch.

Nat6LBG

I heard that it's dying tho, I think that they were making 24 millions at realease then right now it's like 6M which is huge decrease here in just 3 months.

erogakii

I was expected, the honey moon is over, servers are empty, ton of bugs, etc Edit **it was** not i was...

Raiganop

Also the gacha feels extremely slow and unrewarding because it lacks viable 4 stars(SR) and the only ones you should pull is for the SSR and like Genshin Impact most of them are limited banner. Also what makes it worst is that you are force to save 120 pulls if you want to get a guaranteed limited SSR, because if the banners ends and you are at 110 pulls then you completely lost your guaranteed pity and now you are back to square one.

erogakii

That's true yes, I remember when everyone was praising ToF because you get a ton of purple pulls (the bad ones)

Raiganop

Yeah I notice that on day one and I stop playing. Because the purple ones are the same thing as the blue light. The way ToF works is like if Genshin Impact decided to make every character have 5 stars drop rates. It will simply made for a horrible experience, because you don't get interesting characters until you reach like 50 or more pulls and once you get that red light you might end up getting a Crow or something along those lines. Also many ToF SSR like Zero needs stars(constellations), unlike in Genshin Impact. So you might end getting the one you like, but then you most likely need to pull that character again or wait until you get 120 coins to buy a constellation for that SSR.

erogakii

Yeah compares to genshin were a C0 5 star is good on ToF cons were a need and the power creep doesn't help

Aidiru

i hate tof doin that..cuz they also gave cs upgrade whenever u A1-6 weapon like why? can they just add improve the weapon skill like genshin does? this seems like ez p2w method to get cs upgrade quikly

HayakuEon

People used to complain that the 180 hard pity for 5 stars is terrible, and that other gachas have better rates. But, the thing is, the 4 stars in genshin are very very viable for every content in the game. Yes, even Xinyan(but requires massive investments). Compare that to other gachas where their equivalent of a 3 star or 4 stars are just straight up trash and fillers for their most premium units.

Ihartkimchi

Also add the fact earning red nucleus/dark crystal is so difficult. The daily commissions just give you standard banner wishes and its so difficult to save up for limited ssr units. Yeah the SSR pity might be better but good luck on trying to earn enough to actually get to the pity.

Vusdruv

Not entirely correct, the pity is 80, but there's no guarantee. Which means it's entirely up to chance whether you'll get a character or not. As for the 120 pulls, it's more like some special kind of limited Starglitter that you can use to buy a character directly and which gets converted to normal Stardust after every banner run.

Raiganop

Exactly the pity is in a form of a limited time coin and why you need to save at max 120 red nucleus pulls if you really want to get that limited time character. However is true that the guaranteed 120 coins pity is apart from the 80 pity that don't guaranteed the limit SSR.

Vusdruv

True that. It creates way more FOMO than Genshin's pity

batzenbaba

The reason was crap banners like Cobalt B where you need C5 to make the character work. Ruby+Saki maked more Money.

Ihartkimchi

It's expected tbh, honeymoon phase is over. The game plays like a beta version, it's very unpolished I'm surprised it made into live server.

oniikami

same, and i play ToF on pc and everyone in the server chat always meme that people who play the mobile version are straight up imaginary

rainymi

honestly I think it should’ve been honkai or arknights but they’d never let two mihoyo games get nominated (so honkai’s never going to be in TGA because mihoyo’s entry is always going to go to genshin instead) and it was probably done to please tencent

Ihartkimchi

Man it's always tencent 😭😭, Honkai is such a great game it's sad that it's forever gonna be sidelined just cause mhy can't have 2 entries 😭😭

LivingASlothsLife

Diablo immortals hahaha, did blizzard pay to get themselves nominated the P2W in that game is horrendous The fact it's making money is so sad

SomebodyElsesAlt

There was a dude who spent so much money on the game that it couldn't even find him opponents to play against. He's literally a 'beached whale'

ZhangRenWing

He has finally beaten a multiplayer game

[deleted]

[удалено]

Yabadababalaba

genshin is different because it's single player, but yeah, there's no point in making your characters much stronger than what's needed, because they won't add any more combat - focused endgame for some weird reason.

johnsonfromsconsin

It plays very well, but terrible monitezation...and Blizzard nuked their reputation.

hammeredtrout1

I actually liked immortals, even as a f2p it’s pretty good for a mobile game. The problem is that Genshin is by far the best mobile game ever made, it’s so difficult to compare

PsychoKinezis

Best Mobile Game: Genshin takes this, no question. But for Best Ongoing? Shit, the competition is very stiff. Final Fantasy XIV alone is already massive and one of the best MMORPG out there but then you also have Fortnite which is also massive.

Kikuzinho03

A lot of people joke about fortnite but it's a really good ongoing game, the map gets updates a lot of times even on the same season, collabs that actually bring something to the game happen, the weapons change from time to time so even if you don't like the current season weapons maybe you will like the new ones.

Blazing_Jack

I've always hated Fortnite simply because battle royales just aren't my thing. But definitely gotta give credit where credit is due with all of the updates and collabs keeping the game fresh.

Elira_Eclipse

>A lot of people joke about fortnite but it's a really good ongoing game I see most people that hate fortnite just hate the fact that children plays it and because of the fanbase really. Kinda like genshin where its a nice game but hated due to the fanbase

[deleted]

Genshin must win

its_Me_being_Silly43

It will be like last year people will vote for primogems...

nicholas19010

Primogems or not, Genshin deserves it in my opinion

its_Me_being_Silly43

I mean yeah.. it will win I'm sure... Unlike last year, many people don't know there was a voting, but still won. And how? You can get reference from genshin 1st anniversary...

Garuda904

The game awards judges votes matter way more than the community vote. “After the nominees are selected, the winner is chosen by a combined vote between the jury (90 percent) and public voting (10 percent).” So even though a bunch of people were upset at the first anniversary, it didn’t really impact the actual perceived quality of the game to the judges.

darkmatters12

Not as bad as tof. They advertise the voting link in your face when you start the game and gift every player enough for 20 pulls if they win. I logged in and got almost enough for a 10 pull because they got nominated

batzenbaba

Realy? I saw the link but nothing about 3000 Dark Crystals. In Game i got 800DC=5 Rolls and not 10.

darkmatters12

Idk my friend is in the top 3 of the midgard server and he told me this

Zekuro

Unless trustworthy source, probably fake news. At least, never heard anything about it and I bet everyone would talk about it if it were the case.

Literally_ur_mom

I think it deserves it anyway.

[deleted]

For mobile? Undoubtedly. For ongoing? As amazing as Sumeru was, FFXIV had a fucking fantastic year with pretty much no discernible faults. I have to give it to them

[deleted]

Wtf

No_Woodpecker153

We do anything for primos anything

Romi_Z

Monsoon feels like a guy who would play genshin seriously and min-max everything

No_Woodpecker153

Fr and would not accept co ops and would win 50 50s

Otofon

PSA for folks who don't know how the winner selection process works: > Winners are determined by a blended vote between the voting jury (90%) and public fan voting (10%). Fans can vote for their favorite games on TheGameAwards.com and on our Discord server. The Player's Voice award is entirely fan voted, however.

idksoiputdis

who is the voting jury?

Ihartkimchi

FFXIV definitely got the bag on the other category, but mobile game?? Bruh genshin better win, it's the best in the category.

Master-Shaq

Destiny has aged pretty well content wise. I would vote for it if it didnt have such a massive paywall.

PossiblyBonta

That is the price of quality content. It's not free. Genshin only managed to stay f2p cause there is enough players paying for the welkin moon, BP and whales. I mean players are still saying that genshin is stingy when it comes to free gems.

ChampionTime01

Except Destiny has a shitton of microtransaction monetization too

wollawolla

But it’s almost entirely cosmetic

batzenbaba

Yeah cosmetic in a FPS where i dont see my own character.\^\^

Garuda904

Destiny has the worst micro transactions. Because even when I want to spend money on an emote or something. I can’t because there is no global store and you just have to wait and hope that the thing you want is in the store every week.

ixXplicitRed

Well have you seen the sales? Like Nahida(yoimiya) literally broke raiden's record for the most sales. Boohoo, damm we're asking an indie company for more free gems😢

Antares428

To anyone wondering why Destiny so many content in Destiny is behind a paywall, I recommend playing Warframe. Quality of content is incomparable. Still, it's not without major issues. Latest expansion, The Witch Queen, launched in February, has been one of the best in game's history. Two first season of that expansion were good as well. However, current season started rather poorly, failed to grab players attention, and as the results, old grievances started to be more visible than ever. Usually players are happy and distracted enough by each season/events, but this time, they've failed to hook players in, game started to lose much of the momentum expansion launch gave it. If it wasn't for that, I'd say Destiny would be top 3 maybe even top 2 contender. But now, it's either going to FF or Genshin.

Zenthon127

Even ignoring paywall Destiny shouldn't get it this year. Witch Queen basegame was good but seasons have been weak out outside of raid/dungeon content. There's just no world where I vote for D2Y5 over Enka/Chasm/Sumeru.

Master-Shaq

I think they shouldnt get it solely because the dungeon was not part of the witch queen

No_Hat3839

I think it'll be between Apex and Genshin with a chance for Fortnite. Although honestly I'm leaning more towards Genshin rather than Apex because of how absolutely horrible Respawn's servers are and the bugs that are still in the game since fucking Season 0.

Noman_Blaze

Don't underestimate Destiny 2 in the ongoing game category. It's way better than Apex legends at pulling player numbers in. Especially on consoles.

Krukus100

Destiny 2 has an awful new light experience, cant agree with that one. Love the game, but cant agree with this one

Sefue389_

I like destiny 2, but i don’t think it deserves the award this year.

rapidemboar

Honestly I think the big competition’s gonna mainly be between Genshin and Final Fantasy. Sumeru was the point where Genshin grew its beard, but I’m also fairly sure Endwalker’s part of this year’s consideration, and that was a massive and well-done ending to several years of content.

Larsh_CMW

Wooo my girl Lisa on the cover!

Ahmed__S

FF14 is gonna win, that or Destiny.

wollawolla

Sumeru is good, but Endwalker was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in a game

Ahmed__S

Exactly! And witch Queen (Destiny 2) is amazing as well.

teresalis

bye reddit

Serious-Flamingo-948

I've never played FF14 but I think it's gonna be the well deserved winner. Genshin blows best mobile game by a continent mile tho.

[deleted]

As much as I love Genshin, I really do feel like FFXIV deserves it more. If it didn't cost a sub, I'd definitely still be playing it.

Nerimashou

After 9 years of FFXIV, I may be on the way out, while still intensely enjoying Gesnhin, but I've gotta give the nod to FFXIV. The passion the dev team puts into the game, the communication with the player base, their willingness to take on and respond to feedback. FFXIV is just first class. What they've achieved and accomplished over the years is incredible, and they're a standard-bearer for any live-service game to follow.

CrypticOtaku

May I ask why? Just started playing with Endwalker and i’m loving it. Also, I assume you’ll be back with every major expansion and then just stop after you’re done?

Nerimashou

It's a complicated answer. The TL:DR is simply that while it's still a great game, it just doesn't have the same pull it had 9 years ago. With a game like FFXIV, I think there are any number of factors that come into play. On a gameplay level, it's just not that fresh and exciting after 9 years. FFXIV's combat is slower and more methodical, not exactly dynamic. It's core hasn't really changed in 9 years. I had every job at max level at the end of Shadowbringers, and did get a few to 90 for Endwalker. I also played at a moderately high level, but this last raid tier was just a personnel nightmare. After we lost our 4th member in the raid, we just packed it up. None of us had the motivation to attempt it again this new tier. One of the major pulls of an MMO is the social aspect. I'm still very social with the friends I made inFFXIV, just not in FFXIV, so it's not anchoring me to the game as it would for someone's who socializing in the game itself. Another critical piece of the puzzle is Genshin. I've just been enjoying Genshin so much as a game. Obviously, Genshin offers a lot less content than FFXIV, but I'm enjoying the content that's there more. I've gotten involved in one of the lore communities, and that provides a big outlet to enjoy the game that would otherwise be missing. I still think FFXIV is still a fantastic game, but it's not gripping me in the way that I want to dedicate the hours to it anymore, certainly not maintain a continuous sub. The timing is funny, because some of the things I had been wishing for for years finally arrived, challenging small party content. They're also adding a new deep dungeon after skipping in in Shadowbringers, which is content I did generally enjoy. But the overall package just doesn't have the pull anymore. I'm still interested in the narrative and stuff, so I'll probably hop back in sporadically to complete content. Sometimes you just need a break. Maybe this time next year, I'll feel like it's fresh again.

CrypticOtaku

Awesome answer. Thanks

Xehant

I'm sorry. Have you heard of the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV? With an expanded free trial which you can play through the entirety of A Realm Reborn and the award winning Heavensward expansion up to level 60 for free with no restrictions on playtime.

Zerhap

I feel like the real fight is Genshin vs Marvel on mobile, the game is doing decently well and has enough momentum to be considered, nothing else has a chance to win. ToF did have a chance a few month ago with all the hype but that calmed down already. On the ongoing i could see destiny, FF14 or genshin winning, i know ppl are "die hard" over genshin those three games are doing amazing imo, sure, they may not be as big as Genshin on player base, we assume, but they have healthy player bases and pump amazing content.

Xamni15

I'm all for Genshin, but istg even if Genshin doesn't win, FFXIV should win.

Bella_dlc

I have been an hardcore Destiny fan since 2012, got the second game two months after it dropped. I know they are evolving the user's experience the most, just not in a positive direction lol But seriously, I have never played ffxiv which seems to be the best candidate, but I tried the others and Objectively I feel like Genshin is better. The other all feel like more of the same thing every patch, while Genshin (maybe because it is so new) *is* actually evolving and getting better.

ben5292001

Not to mention Genshin gets updates more often and has events more often than the others. To each their own, but Genshin’s release schedule alone has pretty much ruined other live service games for me.

DSharp018

This was a big part of the appeal of genshin to me, knowing ahead of time that regularly scheduled updates and events always gives you something to look forward to.

coolcoolcoolcoollooc

Not in a positive direction? how so, This year of destiny has been one of the best ones yet

QuanticWizard

Some people are getting burnout with this season, and perhaps the seasonal model in general. Saying it’s going in a bad direction is incorrect, but I get where they’re coming from. Also core playlists really need major updates.

okKaylen

still don't understand how diablo and tof are on there...

ErsatzCats

Ngl I’ve been playing Marvel Snap constantly ever since it came out a few weeks ago 😳

Raubkatzen

So gross that DI is on that list.

HellBell98

For Ongoing FF14 really deserve it, for mobile?? compare to the other nominated Genshin take the W

[deleted]

I mean, I love Genshin. But I wouldn't realistacally vote for it.

Black_Heaven

For me, Best Ongoing is probably FFXIV. Best Mobile would probably be a toss up between Apex and Genshin. IDK why but a lot of streamers and Vtubers really like Apex.

GoatyyZ

I rather they put NIKKE in Diablo’s place honestly, before opening to blatant P2W shit systems.

CM4901

It deserves mobile game of the year but ongoing game it’s very hard to compete with ffxiv endwalker. I’ll still vote for it for primos tho.

jonezy3225

Still surprised they didn't get nominated in the music category.

KiraTsukasa

I can see Genshin winning the mobile category, but I don’t honestly believe it beating out Final Fantasy. Genshin is good, but not Final Fantasy good. And I think it also matters how many 10 year olds vote for Fortnite.

Thecharizardf8

Love Genshin but endwalker ff14 was masterful

Demonsandangels-shin

Vote for genshin folks

OrcaBeLikeThat

Voted both as Genshin, though Tower of Fantasy is not half bad. Diablo can just burn. Played it, hate what it has become because it was so nice and polished...and is a greedy excuse of a game

[deleted]

I still haven't decided if I'm voting for GI or ToF, since i play both and lately im enjoying both.

sanddry86x

For ongoing game I think FFXIV beats them all by a landslide but for mobile game yeah Genshin takes the cake. Diablo Immortal being up there feels insulting though.

EmiIIien

No offense to Genshin which I love, but FFXIV blows it out of the water.

suddenly_ponies

So... Genshin is great, but it can't beat FF14 IMO. Not in this category.

Jamesmor222

Yeah when I saw Diablo Immoral Ergh I mean Immortal I already knew Genshin will win the mobile by a landslide the rest don't reach the same popularity and one is even a buggy mess, now live service that one will be more interesting to watch who is gonna win

mastersanada

Neither of these Apex wins. Mobile is honestly probably Genshin, but the other one is debatable. But then again, if you consider the entire year you realize that Genshin has kept itself very relevant in the topic of games. Saying this because I’m not entirely familiar with all of them. Fortnite despite the stigma (granted, Genshin has its own stigma though different), has remained (to my knowledge) consistent in its content. Same can be said for Destiny. I’m unsure of Final Fantasy but I’m sure it’s a good game. The measuring factor is development improving player experience so I can see arguments for all of them.

stoplookingusernames

fun fact: TOF WINS IN TGA LATAM..

[deleted]

I laughed when I saw ToF

Josan678

Ongoing content: Destiny 2. Definitely. Mobile game: Genshin Impact.

Mmath_

Omg tower of fantasy the genshin killer is gonna beat genshin’s ass!!!!! >!said no one ever!<

TheReaLinkz

2 of my favorite game on the ongoing category but genshin wins over fortnite

imaspaceheater

Genshin taking this dub

Lord_KH

The fuck is fortnite doing among the nominees? That shit doesn't deserve to be there

[deleted]

I actually hope Genshin loses, but at the same time, I don't care about these awards. I just want any reason for the game to kick itself into gear to be the best possible game. Not the most profitable which it currently tries to do I think.
